Haha no dating this time around. We actually have a full one hour version of this as well! This is a shorter snippet. But David and I actually met when I was filming in the Netherlands and really connected. He is one of most genuine and thoughtful people I have ever met!
Visit any immigrants in the Netherlands even univited you will usually get fed. In Older Dutch culture you will be asked to leave sometimes because it is dinner time.
Making customers wait 15 minutes or longer for a cup of coffee for no reason is really unacceptable. After waiting for some time without a response, I would inquire where the coffee is. If it had taken a long time again, I would have gotten up and left the café or restaurant, never to return. You usually know the region where you live and know from your own and other people's experiences where you should or should not go. I also often hear the catering industry complain that it is difficult for them to find good staff. Of course this may have different causes, but that is their problem and not yours as a guest. Personally, I can't say that I've ever had any problems over the years. Finally; When I invite someone to a party, I ensure that the guests are very well taken care of and that is how I know it from my circle of friends.
The American drive is down to being in competition with everybody. “There can be only one winner, the rest are losers”. In the Netherlands it is more a team win. The team wins, not just the leader. And when losing it is not everybody loses except the leader.
Not for me, for me its about getting my work done and not worrying about other people. I don't need to compete with people unless its an actual competition but I like just worrying about what I need to do and not worry about what others do, it makes my experience more satisfying and way less stressful.
I don’t agree with you. Perhaps in cities like Amsterdam this will happen. But my last 20 visits into restaurants and pubs were good. Very friendly personal and good service. Don’t judge before you’ve been in lots of places in various parts of the country.
Customer service is nog limited to hospitality and retail only, it is present in all service related industries. Working in International Logistics for over 20 years, my experience with customer service from my US colleagues is not great at all. From all international collegues I would rank them at the bottom when it comes to customer service.
Finally! As an American who frequents Europe often, I’ve been wanting to debunk ass the garbage and filth Europeans like to throw towards the US, especially when they haven’t visited anywhere outside of NYC, Miami or LA. Seeing a positive US story for once is a breath of fresh air, because as much as I love your channel (I play it for my research dept. colleagues every Friday) the one thing is the US hatred and shit talking goes unchecked. I am sooo stoked for this and can’t wait to listen tomorrow. Listened to the entire 10 mins and man, that flew by. Thank you so much for this! It’s about time and I appreciate it. There is so many inaccuracies about American that come from people who don’t even come here or have never visited. You’re the best! 🇺🇸🫡 More of these debunking videos, because it’s bogus and is out of hand 🙌🏽
So happy to hear that! Yes - there is a real trend of trashing the US nowadays. It's the "cool thing to do" and I wanted to share the positives that the US offers. Of course these are just a few but there are a ton more!
Some people from New York can be total jerks but there are so many places in the USA where there are kind people. I was just listening to a young woman who moved from Tennessee and she and her husband just moved to Southern California for better work opportunities and they are having such a blast here. She said that people from Tennesse are afraid of people from California and that made me laugh. She is saying how much she loves the food and the culture and that people are so nice. I think also it has to do with perception. It's a big country with a whole lot of different attitudes and personalities but most of what I have heard is how nice Americans are when foreigners get here.
Why not? Not everyone is miserable or stressed about life. I usually an optimisitic person myself. What I say is that my misery doesn't need to be shared to others if they are having a good day. I am to self aware for that. If I have a bad day I do show it at times but its rare. I step back and need to take some time to pull myself together because other people don't deserve my wrath when they have done nothing to me to warrant that.
Finally!!!! My favorite American David Wen and my fav Canadian Marina are talking about DATING, my fav topic!!!!

You can't compare the service in one cafe to your experiences in the complete USA! David should know that.
