John, I can't explain how much I enjoy watching your video's but its not so much the content. You seem to have a kindness about you that comes across as such a grounded and wholesome person. I know you're ultra famous, but being able to get to know you in this way is fascinating to me. Most actors, we never see this side of them, and I can't say enough how cool it is to be able to even think my message will be read by you. I always forward all your videos to my family members, because I too want them to be able to see you in this way. I remember as a kid watching Dukes with my older brother and it brings back such fun memories. Thanks John, for those memories back then, and these memories now.

John, back in early 2000’s I, worked at Warner Brothers part time in Burbank when I lived in California. I met someone that worked in the transportation department and I told them I was a life long Dukes of Hazzard fan and asked him if they had any General Lees in storage because I’d been wanting to see an actual screen used General Lee my whole life. Sure enough, I got to see the stunt car that did the street jump in the last reunion movie “Hazzard in Hollywood”. So I was there, at Warner Brothers, with a General Lee stunt car. It was a Dukes fan dream come true! Plus I got to walk the sets where “Hazzard Square” used to be, like downtown Hazzard. They were set up at the time filming “Gilmore Girls” at that time. I just wanted to share this story with you!

  • @commonman317
    @commonman317 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

As a life long Dukes fan, the Disney Ranch location is my favorite. It would be awesome for John to go back there and give a tour there someday. I believe that is where that iconic wooden bridge is that Bo jumped off the truck into the lake in the episode "Follow That Still". Also, in "The Rustlers" with Mel Tillis, the white farm house and land is very picturesque. Especially, when they show the pasture with the distance signs when the horse races the General Lee. Those sunny scenes with the trees and winding dirt roads like that really added to the show.

I think it's fantastic the way you embrace the show and its legacy. Many actors don't do this because it was jut another job for them. The way you keep it alive and make it fun after all these years really makes it meaningful for all the fans, including myself. James Best and Sorrell Booke did this, as well. It was just a great cast of down to Earth people that made the Dukes. Back in the day, laughing my butt off with my brothers, I had no idea it would be so big for so long. Thanks for great childhood memories! (of course, my mom still hates it to this day, lol!)

I grew up in Tampa, Fl and my most prized possession was my Dukes of Hazard record player. They year was 1984 and I would play the Dukes theme song on full blast 7 days per week... Our good neibor next door, Mr. Jack, never complained once because he knew how much it meant to me... Five years later our family moved to a small place in Valdosta, Georgia, where my new neibor turned out to be none other than Shroyer family... I must had drove my go-kart by their house a million times but never knocked on the door because I was told Enos had passed away a few years before we moved up there... Never the less, each time I raced by their house, I had the Dukes theme song blaring in my mind and an imaginary Rasco and Boss hog in fast pursuit trailing behind me... I never got to tell my old neibor, Mr. Jack, or Sonny thank you for the all of the great memories but Mr. Schneider, now is a good time to thank you sir for all of the best memories a kid could every dream of... It’s
so great to see your still rocking and rolling! Thanks for posting all of these videos!

As a lifelong Dukes fan who's been spotting the 'different' Hazzards since I was a young boy, these videos are fantastic. Maybe you could do a dedicated video on Georgia locations and memories, John?
The Georgia locations and episode are generally my favourite, I always wonder how it would have panned out if the series had remained there. My least favourite Hazzard setting is the final one (the Warner ranch) as it all seems squished in; both the farm and the Boar's Nest always look to have convienently stacked hay bails to mask things in the background! :)

You know John.. grew up watching dukes.. born in 77.. moved to Santa Clarita in 87.. right down the street from Disney ranch. I believe I will be able to see the difference in sets.. Really cool that I got to grow up in the area my fav show was filmed.. I even got to load some hay at Disney ranch with friends Dad Gene Walker.. he was a Wrangler for the movies..

LOVE hearing about how Dukes was filmed! Do you have any behind the scenes pics to share, especially of the studio where the inside of the Duke farm was, Boars nest, police station, etc?

I have noticed that the outsides of the Duke Farm and the Boar's Nest did change Frequently thourghout the first few seasons. Even noticed the interior of the Duke House was different several times too.

I enjoy hearing John reminiscing on these FUN DUKES facts! I do recall all the things he said! Ive been to Dukes farm and Boarsnest in GA! Its like when we pulled up to the spots and got out to just take it all in! It was like I was a kid again and came full circle! Its like I was meant to go to these places! I would love to find the spots from MOONRUNNERS in GA.!!!! That would be AWESOME!!!!!

I believe the place you're talking about the third location off Lyons was Valuzai Ranch or could it have been Indian Dunes too off 126 behind magic mountain. Keith Dillin would know.

Michael Dillin The Valuzets are friends of mine. That’s not their place. I believe Warner Bros own it now and it’s called Warner Ranch.

TV from our childhood. My wife and I have all of the seasons of Duke's of Hazzard on DVD somewhere in our house. We sold our rural Upstate New York Dairy Farm last year and moved to a Kentucky Holler. We love it here. South and East of where we live is a Hazard Kentucky and I know that we've past a billboard sign for Cooter's Garage. Is there any connection with those two pieces of information to the show or cast? Thanks. Take care and GOD BLESS

Dukes is back on here in the UK with season 1 starting this week so enjoyed this video. Haven't seen these early episodes in well 40 years. I do remember as a kid watching the first episode and seeing Cooter drive the Ford Torino from Starsky and Hutch so that episode screened on Monday brought back happy memories.

In various interviews way back when it was always talked about how Wopat could not swim. Yet he was out in the middle of the lake (swimming) on a few shows. Did they use his double as it sure looked like him. I know odd question. Or I guess he could tread water??? Thanks!

You mentioned Carnival of thrills...that's my favorite episode. I did an elementary school project around it. Even though it was fighting. Loved the stunt car made for that jump with the full roll cage and not much of an interior.

My dad thought they'd filmed it all in Georgia. But I had to tell him they didn't. But you guys did good replicating the Georgia scenery and all that. God bless you and have a good day.

Hi again john. I also forgot to mention something elseabout the valencia oaks movie ranch . i know of two movies that were filmed there . the boars nest is a few scenes. One movie is a chevy chase movie called nothing but trouble. It is totally covered with lights and hub caps and surrounded by junk and old busus. U can also see the duke farm in the back ground towards the end of the movie. As well as tom sacramentos shop if u look really hard in a night scene or two.

Was any filming done at Universal Studios? My sister went there on her senior trip (1984) and saw some General Lees in the parking lots. My parents took me there in 1986 and of course I saw a bunch of vans used for The A-Team and Firebirds used for Knight Rider.
