    As a covington girl born and bred, we happily welcome you anytime back to hazard County. I had no idea these gems existed in my hometown, you've opened my eyes to a beautiful history I never knew my city had. Growing up you hear it jokingly amongst locals called the Hollywood of the south but honestly the new tourist stuff feels kind of weird to us. Like to literally have tourists riding all through the square and town on huge golf carts to tour the vampire houses is wild. It's definitely being city-fied. As for us, we still live in the rural area on the south end of covington, there is so much history out this way too. We're glad to have you back anytime!!

    • @ChunkeyMonkey40
      @ChunkeyMonkey40  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm glad I was able to open your eyes to some of the history of your town. I'm sure it is very weird having everyone there for the vampire diaries. But even with it being city-fied, I still think of it as one of the coolest places I've ever been. I've been there twice now and have made many life long friends down there. I will definitely be coming back, and when I do come back (hopefully soon) I plan to meet even more locals! I love that town, so much great history and even better people!

    That kid in the General at the orphanage scene is Jason Lively , A.K.A Rusty Griswald in the National Lampoon movie, EUROPEAN VACATION! He also reappeared later on the Dukes in the episode "BOARS NEST BEARS" playing a basketball player. Jason's dad ,ERNIE LIVELY was in the first episode playing a character called , Dobro Doolan. He later played a security guard in an episode when the General had been impounded. He then was cast as Cooter's cousin, LONGSTREET B. DAVENPORT.

I have pictures of this car if you want them. Also the orphan spitting flies in the back of the general lee later became rusty on the national lampoons movie

      Thank you so much brother!!!! I gave it my all, I have seen a lot of them too, but nobody gets detailed about anything. They just walk up to the location, make a dumb joke and leave. I wanted to go deep, and make it something that people can watch and learn something from! And no kidding that's cool that car is still around! and wow no kidding that's cool that kid was in there!

I own the whole series and my kids love it too now. So many great memories come flooding back. Let's keep this alive! I remember when the cars that were left from W.B. were sold off, wish I had one, even if it was just lawn art. I'm an avid mopar enthusiasts and this show shaped my childhood and future to become a mechanic and love mopars. Just a great video. Thanks for the memories. God bless

    From one Dukes of Hazzard fan to another, this is truly awesome! I live in northern British Columbia, Canada and probably will never get to Covington Georgia. I would love to get there but it's 2855 miles or 44hrs drive from my house (according to google maps). I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard every Friday night, it was a real highlight of my week and something I always looked forward to watching. I even recorded the audio of the show and listened to it over and over again throughout the week. Anyways, I just wanted to say great job making this video and big Thank you. It brought back so many great memories. I subscribed to your video channel. Cheers.

    This was the best documentary of The Dukes of Hazzard I have ever seen. It was one of my favorite shows along with Dallas. I stayed with my grandparents on the weekend and every Friday night they would take the phone off the hook and 8pm was The Duke's and 9pm Dallas. I miss those days; my grandparents are gone now. But I was blessed to have been born during that time period. Thank you so much for the video, it brought back so many memories. It was so awesome, again, thank you.

    Great video, I'm not sure if you realize it or not two of the most famous other than the jumps are when the show started and ended you see the guys spinning their tires onto another dirt road and Daisy thumbing a ride. Both were within less than a mile from the Dukes farm. One scene of Daisy was on Rosebud Rd. the other I mention was Skyland Dr. They actually filmed another episode when Cooter was chasing the Duke boys in a police car as a joke and rolled it. It was at the same road entrance off Skyland Dr. that leads down to water treatment facility on Big Haynes Creek. It's now Skyland Glenn Subdivision. I grew up on Skyland Dr. and we went to those spots after school after they filmed the scenes. We in elementary school so didn't know what was going on until after they had already gone. My brother was friends with the family that lived in the Dukes farmhouse.

    Yes, thank you so much for this indepth video of The Dukes of Hazzard. You are definitely the way I am when digging deep for information of a subject I am into. By that I mean like at the boars nest location when you went around behind the building and found all those awesome discarded items, the old Budweiser can, red paint, and it looked like red carpet. That's the kind of things I tend to do. To go where it's less trampled on and look in the weeds and crevices.
    You really have a good eye of how to film and narrate your videos and it shows. Thank you again so much for this video. Blessings to you, stay safe, cheers. I like the steer horns on the front of your truck, like Boss Hoggs Cadi. 😊😊

    I recognized that first spot right off. I was in the back of a Jeep with friends who recreated the jump….sort of. Banged my head on the roll bar while hanging on for dear life. They hit that spot both directions. Loved the show. Thank you for posting.

    I used to do National Guard duty in Covington from 89 - 92. The guys I served with were from that area and drove me around to see the Boar's nest and other locations in the show. Covington sure has changed. I enjoyed driving to Covington for duty and really liked the guys I served with.

    Nice tour of all the sites. It was really nice of the landowner to show you the pictures and the memorabilia he has from the show. What I still think is crazy is the fact that they jumped the General Lee right on that college property so close to the buildings. Great memories I have of the show, it was always a staple of my Friday nights as a kid.

    My hometown & I was there for the 1st episode 1978! My dad & I were standing in front of Harpers Dime store {red building} where the General Lee comes sliding onto the square getting chased by Roscoe {TH-cam video Dukes Of Hazzard : Chase From 1st Episode}, thats actually my dad's 1972 Plymouth Fury II sitting in front of the store! I was on the opposite side of the square in 1981 when Burt Reynolds landed his plane to get beer in Cannonball Run, I was one of the folks getting out of the way as the plane starts to take off {TH-cam video Cannonball Plane}! In 1990 I was watching them film an episode of Heat of the Night sitting on the roof of my 1978 Z28 with the Ttops out & was asked if they could use my car in an episode, have watched every episode & never seen my car so probably left on the cutting room floor! Lived in Covington from 1973-1998 & had lots of fun & memories & still have lots of family that live around there ✌💖☮
