- I talk about the economy of making your own soap to using it in your own laundry soap. The money saving , the Space saving (how many big bottles of Tide would you need to stock for 15 years of laundry?) and the good, honest clean of real soap vs laboratory goo?
my Mix recipe is 1 cup finely grated soap 1/2 c Borax 1/2 c Washing soda. Fabric softener is half vinegar, half water. 1/2 cup in each load. and NO, your clothes dont smell like pickles! They smell sweet and clean once dry so dont worry! I have actually Just used my soap to wash laundry, still works really well!
THIS IS THE BEST EXPLANATION OF HOMEMADE SOAP I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! G, you are BRILLIANT! No one gives a more clear explanation on the whys and hows than you. You share formulas and break everything down in a clear and concise manner. You are the best hands down! Much love!
One of the most rewarding prepper tricks I've learned, and the smell is delish!
i loved our video so much i showed it to my mum. we will now be making ouer own soap from now on. this is a blessing
Yes, vinegar goes in the rinse water. Actually, white distilled vinegar is a natural fabric softener. I pour 1/2 cup full strength over the clothes as the rinse water is running. Your clothes will NOT smell like vinegar. The vinegar will also remove any residual soap in your clothes and any soap scum in the washer. Not a bad deal. Your clothes will smell fresh and clean as though they were hung outside in the sun!
I will be making myself another batch this weekend. A relative of mine has been going through some rough times lately, so I gave her my 5 gallon batch I made up. It felt great to be able to help out. :-)
Great to hear I helped! this has saved us soo much money, MORE MONEY FOR PREPS!
I love your soap, I made my second batch on Thursday and I did the fresh linen scent, wow so fresh smelling. Thanks for the idea of storing the remaining soap for bartering later. My husband usually hates it when I make laundry soap because he says it stinks, but not this time. Again, thanks. Ann
I make soap taking no lye discount, for laundry soap. Since my regular soaps are highly superfatted, I'd just as soon not have the extra oils in my laundry. I, too, use vinegar as fabric softener. Also helps keep the washer a bit cleaner. I have found fragrances do not "stick" in the clean laundry, but they sure make washday more pleasant! Nice video!
Two gallons of water total for a cup of mix, one hot and later one cold. Thank you for the liquid soap recipe.
this is Awesome it's always nice to stock up!!
Why thank you darlin!! I am glad my breakdown made sense, I think I was running a 102.2 fever when I made it.. lol
LOVE back at ya!
can u please make a video of u making laundry bar soap like u have wraped in this one would love to make my own :)
1 cup finely grated soap, 1/2 each of washing soda and borax. When I have used it dry, I use 1 tbsp perlarge load, 1 and a half for super dirty loads. I use half water, half vinegar in the rinse load to neutralise the soap as a fabric softener. the store stuff makes my towels not so absorbent :) I have used this mix both as a liquid. liquid uses less product and still works so well. As far as the gel, that's not important, nor are suds. it's the soap that cleans :)
ohh thank you! I love that Fresh linen scent , dont you?
I sometimes add a touch to my cleaners. it is a wonderful year fav! AND Bartering is the best! it keeps people useful and is a neat way to get new and interesting items that are made with love!! Hugs! G
Thank you!
My Mis is 1 cup finely grated soap, 1/2 each of washing soda and borax. That's it! And good question, no there is no reason you cant use an electric grater, it's just that I do as much as I can manually and I suppose it just doesnt occur to me to use anything electric...lol.. I am sure it's a time saver too! :)
I have actually JUST used my bars to wash clothes, they still work great and come out clean and fresh:)
You are such good people honey, that's why I love ya!
you go girl... i so agree!
Great vid series... and great channel! I've GOT to do this...!
But I must have missed a video somewhere...
What else is in your "mix" besides the grated bars, and what ratio of the other ingredients (to each bar) do you use to form your mix?
And, is there any reason you can't use an electric grater to save "knuckle meat" :) ?
Thanks.
I took your advice, and have laundry soap for quite awhile. Last time I used a cup to make liquid laundry soap it did not gel. Hoping it works anyway
Which video shows you making the bar soap?
ohh that sounds lovely! I am actually going to make liquid soap using potassium hydroxide rather than sodium hydroxide. ohh I may go old school and try it with ashes....hmmm:)

Do you sell your bars of laundry soap hun?
Im a new subbie after watching your recipe for homemade detergent using soaps. I'd like to know, can I try shaving African Black soap (this soap works wonders on the skin leaving you acne free and a little nib makes a ton of bubbles) I dilute for a body wash and its natural too.
I already have Zote and Octagon (yes, old school, found an old bar in my dads handy bag) grated and stored in a half gallon container dry.
I love that soap I was wondering too. Its so subbie, smell good.
some way some how im gonna do this- we go thru so much laundry it aint funny - and if by the will of the life force i can learn this -its gonna be a life change for me-- thank you for this great video-blessings

G
I dont make my own bar soaps, I use Ivory. will that work? and how much of each ingredient would be needed? I have made 2 batches of powdered now and Im wondering if liquid is better and more cost effective.
No. You need much more ivory bars than laundry bars.
Wow, oh Gosh, I hadnt thought of selling it.. Guess I am so busy backstocking, I hadnt considered selling any... I suppose... ORR...my favourite, BARTER! PM ME :)

I really thought I was about to watch you make these soap not speak through all the freaking video.
I have a video where I show how to make it. Sorry you don’t like me speaking thru the whole freaking video. Maybe another channel would be more suited to you.
Or try looking thru the video lists on my channel to find what you really wanted instead of saying such a thing.
Best of luck

THIS WILL CLOG UP YOUR PIPES DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!
does it , really?
Lettylaque Cortez no it does not clog your pipes I have using homemade laundry detergent for 3 years and counting with no problems and I have an old house and a front loading HE washer
Ok thank you.
No, it doesn’t. Had water might be a factor so before making such a blanket statement, you should perhaps to a bit more research. I’ve never had a problem.
Thank you!
