    for those interested, I've been using the GT-1 every night in theatre and she's really grafting. I'd recommend an external dual control pedal to really expand possibilities and control, and if you have big feet turn off the looper (patch up and CTL 1 ). sounds are great and I'm loving it!

    Thanks for that. I've got the GT-1, my first venture in FX, and wondered if I should have got the GT-100. You put my mind at ease, thanks. I am looking at the GT-1000 for a possible upgrade in the future though. Nice to hear an SA accent, I've been away for too many years.

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only reason to upgrade to 100 is for pedal layout and fx send etc. 1000 though I've done 12 videos on it thus far completely new sound. 100 and 1 though same sounds.

      Be sure to upgrade firmware, Tone studio too both not just 1 else they won't communicate.

  • @Cryo837

    Acoustic patch the 100 was more clear and natural. Overdrive patches hard to tell the difference because of all the harmonics in the distortion. But the 100 had more overall definition even with all the overdrive. But in a live situation these differences would not matter due to room acoustics, PA speaker cabinets, etc.. For recording...yes it would matter. Since I record with a very clear audio interface already, I am going with the GT-1 because of 1) price and 2) it is very close to the 100 in sound and 3) simpler smaller lighter. Great video...thank you!!!!

  • @jdarne01

    I have both the GT-100 and the GT1. I think the GT1 sounds warmer and more natural. I like it much better than the GT-100

      keep in mind... global EQ is a thing as well as MASTER EQ, which the 100 and 1 have but the frequencies seem locked on different values.

    I've got the GT1, I've been glued to it now for a couple of years for live use and recording, it's amazing when tweaked to suit my playing and guitar, I spent a lot of time setting my main 3-4 tones and it's great.
    I used lot's of great amps, it's honestly replaced them, I'm asked quite a bit if I'd share my personalised tweaks by lots of fellow pro players, I can only smile quietly and very politely change the topic of conversation as best I can, I've sadly lost some great friends for not revealing the magic sauce unfortunately.

    Hi Jared. I found this a really informative comparison test, thank you. I started out with an original Cry Baby and Fuzz Box in the Sixties.. My first 'all-in-one-' was the BOSS ME-5 and I used it for many years, in fact I'm sorry I sold it. Since then I've had a couple of Korgs, the last one AX3000G which is pretty good. I have a Yammy Magic Stomp for Shadows sounds, and a little Digitech Element XP because it so handy. But having seen you demo the GT-1 I reckon this could be top of my Christmas wish list. Thanks again.

    Your tones are absolutely stellar, the GT-100 does sound a little for open with more bottom & High end...the GT-1 sounds 95% similar to GT-100....
    Your GT-1000 tones are amazing, infact my idea about GT-1000 changed after listening to you. Please do a comparison between GT-1000 and GT-100 especially amp models...
    Also can you please provide us with some patch settings for GT-100 with tones based on particular amps..
    1. Soldano drive
    2. ENGL Powerball
    3. Dr. Z crunch
    4. Bad Cat type overdrive
    Thank you.

      Thanks for that. I don't have my 100s anymore only the 1000 and GR55 but maybe I can have a look on these. Only thing though is 55 doesn't have v2 software and the 1000 is completely new it took me quite awhile to play with it and figure it all out, definately still stand by what I always say which is the boss flagship is an Amp designer.

  • @JennyX69
    @JennyX69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know this video is several years old. I've played with both, own a GT-1 and borrowed a GT-100. The 100 has multiple audio chains that you can program BUT the GT-1 can be reprogrammed that you can even change the up and down to 2 additional effects so you have 4 and add two external switches for more effects programming where the GT-100 when using external controllers only becomes the same as what's on the pedal instead of more choices.
    For me it comes down between sound or control. I like control of different effects , I'm sticking with GT-1.

      Yeah i loved the GT-1 used it on that tour for about a year and a half, must check out the GTcore as it's basically the same principals as the GT-1 but with all the new tech!! Cheers!

    My GT100 had issue out of the box. The patches/parameters would change automatically. Since it didn't happened frequently, I just ignored it. I tried to upgrade the software and even that didn't help. I googled the issue and realised several users are facing the same issue. I didn't use it for a while and then the problem became worse. The patches and parameters would change automatically every 2 seconds. I had to take it to the service center and they charged me £50 for rectifying a issue that was caused due to a faulty product that Roland sold to me. Very disappointed with Roland for charging high and giving us a faulty product such as GT 100.

    is this capable of doing so?
    I don't like tweaking, all I need is one or two sounds with boost and wah.

    Jared just coming from being a kemper owner ( due to circumstances had to part ) the Gt1 may do my now limited needs but I can't say the BM sounds are anything close on the Mac speakers, very fizzy and not fluty , its all subjective of course but seems like a neat little unit .

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheAngello120 it's lovely through an amp though or loud pa :)

    • @TheAngello120
      @TheAngello120 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used too own the GT-100 but moved to Kemper which is an impossible act to follow frankly, but now I just play odd gigs and stuff with a Vox AV60 which is a great amp just light on effects and patch options, looking at Katana 100 maybe to pair with the gt-1 .

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheAngello120 katana is great as well. It has all the built in boss fx and you can use 3 at a time using the software. I've come from a full valve kettner down to touring with just pedals. my back can't take the lifting all the time, and I'm honestly happier with more options then having only 1 drive type. but each to their own I believe :)

    • @TheAngello120
      @TheAngello120 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't get the one drive type bit mate ? all the drives are in the pedal, I also use a Tech 21 P.E 60w ultra light cab for pedals great unit , you seem like a young guy to have the back problems, thats a bitch as a lifetime sufferer I get you, had to stop lugging a pedal steel for this reason . nice tones bro .

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheAngello120 I can carry without an issue but I wanna prevent more issues. I've been moving PA gear for over 10 years now so I've got a few wrist, hand, foot injuries. oh! by 1 drive I was referring to my hughes and kettner. great amp, but I need more then just 1 sound.

    Hi - really great comparison! Wondering if you could answer a couple of questions... When changing patches, can the GT1 only go sequentially up and down? I often have to switch between patches mid song so is it possible to switch between, say, patch 1 and patch 3 directly? Secondly, did you go into an amp for this demo or straight into whatever it was recorded on? Cheers in advance!

I ll check my fx drive bank for “Orange drive“ and see whethee there is a firmware update for Gt 001 like v2. I had a friend use one of the bigger me usints either the 80 or the 60 and it was fine.. but didn't last too long before giving him issues, so I have just always felt the me stuff is great for getting u into Multifx and if you've got the capacity to learn a bit the gt is creating sounds from the ground up. Either you want the flag ship 100, with fx loops, 2 amp chains etc or you want something that sounds the same and is half the price and does playlist and simpler stomp modes.     I just got this beast (GT-1) and came up with a cool trick;
    8 control switch double preset (2 presets combined)
    I have a Boss fs-6 so I get 2 more control switches. I use the up as a control switch also. That is a total 4 switches so far, for the first user patch U01.
    The down is set to change to the next patch U02. The next patch is a copy of the first patch but the control switch assignments control different parameters and effects. (the choice is limitless) So now I have 4 more switches to use.
    I also have the up and down switch's set like the first patch except the down is set to -number instead of +number like the first patch.
    You bounce between the 2 patches using the down switch.
    So basically this setup gives me a double patch with 8 switches to turn on and off effects pedals or whatever assignments I chose. Using only the down switch to bounce back and forth between the 2 patches.
    I can play just about anything with this one double preset, but If I want to use the other user and factory presets all I have to do is use Knob 1 to move to U03 preset and my up/down switches will work as normal for the rest of the presets.

    • @JaredGunstonTV

      I used to do something very very similar cause I'd have my show designed in Playlist format with an fs6 I think I used the fs6 as patch up and master delay on and off, I originally wanted the fs6 to be tap and delay on and off as a master fx but the fs6 couldn't keep up with quick tap tempos.

My experience so far with the GT-1 is that it can make great clean sounds and very good saturated sounds. The lightly overdriven sounds, though, are somewhat lacking. That's not to say that the unit can't deliver... just that I haven't had the success I hope for yet.
      As of now, my live sound is still Jamup, which I believe has some of the best transparency of any amp modeler. I really hear the characteristics of any guitar I put through it. First of all,,..thanks soooo much for taking the time out of your schedule to do what you do & sharing your knowledge & experiences with Guitars & gear!
    Do know that it IS appreciated!
    Now as for that Boss GT 1..imo,...that unit will cover some aspects of playing live & supplying FX.
    But that said,..it will eventually let you down on durability.
    Those three main foot switches will crush and not function properly afterwards.
    Desired tweaks must be done way early to be satisfactory..(in which you’ll discover on tour)
    The typical Boss (automatic standard) “comp” is there no matter what tweak is done!
    (This may be less present on the Boss GT 100.. but there trust me)
    Your body weight/foot size..(as well as I..) will eventually destroy that toy-ass tiny Foot Pedal due to one trying to master its delicate balance of care vs use!
    It’s nice enough unit but compared to what Boss put out in the past,..(..which I still currently use despite them being incredibly old..)
    ...it just doesn’t hold up for the cost!
    Considering all that tho’...I may still get it & the Bass version (Boss GT1 b)...used mind you,..just to have more portability and familiar tones.
    Can’t wait for your live test results Bro!...🎶🎸✨Rock on!..✌🏾

      Hi mate, thanks for reaching out. I used it for quite a while and would use it again for a gig where I have a Playlist of tones. If more stomp box vibe the GT100 but I did also use GT1 with an Fs6 for stomps and it worked great. I'm currently playing a GR55 for synth and on bigger shows a 1000 which is a completely new ball game. Don't let the demos scare you off trying one, the guys online haven't gotten anything besides a fender clean and OD, but for higher gain the new recti Amp and 8x12 or 4x12 is amazing!! Cheers my bro, get a 1 you'll be surprised those buttons are HARD man. Not plastic. Anyways cheers man thanks for watching.

      JaredGunstonTV thanks for the reply!
      Yeah,..have tried it out and will get one of each eventually but those foot switches bug me tho’..had bad experience of them hanging up in the unit,..and not pop back out!
      The Guitarists I’ve worked with have liked or disliked it,..and have had disappointing damage occur.
      I reside in Japan so I can get it repaired cheap I think...but I believe it requires care to use in the vigorous environment of live stage performances.
      May I ask if you’ve done any playing on Digitech’s RP360?..🤔🎸🎶
      Interested in what you’d think of the pedal’s tones ,..FX,..Amp simulation & functionality!...☝🏾🤔
      This pedal was quite popular and I still use it today due to it’s unique functionality.

      @@FlamesAt1000ft I haven't man... I'd gladly demo any pedals guys send me. Maybe one day when the channel grows a bit more I can help everyone find the right brands for the right players etc. But personally I've been doing boss since the gt3 :)

      JaredGunstonTV Cool,..I get it..love the Boss stuff personally..been using their gear for years!👍🏾
      (..even still stand behind the Metal Zone,..Boss Chorus, Phaser, Bass Synths & Tremolo!!..they just work for me ‘cause I enjoy tweaking!!..)
      Being a Guitarist & Bassist,..I’ve used Boss FX for ages.
      Right now I’m so happy with my old but soooo desired Boss Bass FX!!
      (..lucked up & bought a new still wrapped in it’s original box,..2003 Boss ME 50B last year!)
      One owner,..me!!..👍🏾
      But I really wanted to ask you about your stage-/Amp set up to experience the “stereo FX” you have programmed!
      I’ve found that when running stereo output,..L⬅️..a line straight to the Amp direct and R..➡️a short line to a Direct Box for the house or arena sounds killer and you get to “keep” your surround effect of stereo alive no matter what the sound man does by having him mix the monitors/side fill speakers with only the Direct Box signal...giving YOU control over the Stage mix via your Amp...as to keep that Amp tone relevant in the overall mix of your tones used in the performances.
      I do this for my Guitar & Bass gigs!!
      Also the Amp could be miked as to have that tone mixed to the PA Speakers for the overall Bass in the house/Arena mix!
      I’m also a 🎤😆🎶Lead Vocalist on these gigs so,..in order to focus on my vocals as well,..I need my sound/tones to be there and feel solid & right!...🎶🎸✨
      That new GT1 should show promise if it can hold up!
      Especially for quick,light gigs and or far away one night large gigs that can save on packing so much gear for only one gig!
      Sure would like to know how you satisfy your requirements for stage set up!..🙏🏾☺️

      @@FlamesAt1000ft hey man great to hear someone's got passion. With the GT stuff you know what you must try, run FOH the master out in stereo, then send your own Amp or personal wedge from the phones out, then u got stereo front of house, wedge person l or r and wedge from FOH l or right which can be balance to give you a stereo feel on fx.

    aha YES, exactly what i was looking for, thanks! i already have a GT-100 in my little studio but wanted to get a small unit for my 'travel rig' - after already buying a Zoom g1on and Digi RP55 and being disappointed i couldn't get a similar sound to my GT-100, i wanted to make sure the GT-1 could do the job before shelling out on yet another unit... thanks for the comparison, very grateful.

      GT-1 is great for ROCK but you gotta ask yourself, will a PLAYLIST format work for you? Otherwise, you could get an accessory for the GT-1 a FS-6 which expands the unit and you can set the UP, DOWN, CTL1 and then 2 more footswitchs from the FS-6 to all be assign as a big sort of PEDAL BOARD which is what I did for awhile for some shows and did playlist format for other shows.

      no dual preamp, no parallel chain, no choice of mic on amp sim...
      So, I've changed my post a little for giving a good information.

      GT1. Amps sound better and you gonna battle finding a power supply for the older GT stuff. They changed it to a universal size at gt10 I believe.
