Really enjoyed this presentation David, your footage, gentle music and reflection. I am doing this walk in mid September so seeing the vista and your reminder to stay on track is helpful.
I watched this a few months ago before I went on my camino. I loved it then and love it even more now that I have walked the same path. I loved the spiritual varient so much.
Again so beautiful green, and lovely sceneries. Most of all - your wise thoughts of the importance of silence, and of authenticity. I agree totally with your priorities, David. Silence is a rarity here in the South of Finland, mostly because of all noise from traffic. And we live in a country with just about 5.5 million inhabitants. If I have the opportunity to visit a place, e.g. a remote forest with just natural sounds, it is a great relief. Authenticity - it is also a relief, if one doesn't have to play some role, e.g. in the working place. Especially for an introvert person, it may need courage to drop the mask. Thank you so much for talking about these important matters, David 😊
Thanks Paula =) I live in Amsterdam which is also full of noise everywhere...I need those getaways into nature and silence. I'm definitely an introvert (I could probably be a Finn at heart haha). You're welcome and thanks for your response-I feel heard!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts David, the spiritual path ironically allowed you to have a realisation 💚 I've watched all your videos on the Portuguese Camino and really enjoying them so far 🙏
Hi David, this is David writing. Thank you for your impressions of your trip. I recognize every section of it and I am amazed that we share a lot of thoughts and reflections, especially the different faces we have in our normal life and that just being yourself creates the happiest moments on the camino. Buen camino.
I've done Caminho Portuges two times ( and Frances once) next time gotta do this variante --this is wonderful. Very much like the Samos detour on the Frances.
Hi Jeff - the spiritual variant was definitely one of the highlights for me on the Portuguese route…so I hope you get to do it next time. Never heard of the Samos detour but will now look into it, thanks! Buen camino
The looks of the Armenteira church inside area is so familiar, strangely, never been there. Must be from one or two movies I watched. How many Videos that I haven't watched yet after this vid, David? Stay safe.
Greetings David, would you say the French and the Portuguese are two completely ways to experience the Camino Ways? I feel you had enjoyed the french more, not sure because of the timing or because of the dynamics on the 2 versions of the Caminos them selfs. I felt you were more into the discovery and the whole atmosphere of the journey in the French one. It may be just my perception base on the videos. I also think the more sporadic nature of the interactions wile walking the French route made it more amusing and interesting to experience human nature. Anchoring to a small group for too long I think change the whole nature of the experience. What is you what may say you have gain out the Portuguese route? It is indeed so beautiful and sooting the view, I feel it will be better to spend more time walking alone this route than the french one? Buen Camino, David.
Hi Rob - thanks for stopping by. Yes-they are quite different. Some differences for me include: - there are more people that walk the French route (more chances to meet different types of people) - there are more cafe stops (more chances to stop and have a chat with people) - I also spent 30+ days walking the French route vs. 11 days on the Camino Frances (more time to build more connections with different people) - the scenery is also quite different Regardless, the Portuguese was an amazing experience and a beautiful 2nd camino. Anchoring to a small group was a highlight for me...it's amazing how you can build such strong connections in only a few days. But I also spent a good chunk of time walking alone. The nice thing about the camino is that you can decide to walk with people or walk alone. For me, this Camino helped me reset, slow down, be more present, and reconnect with myself-something I needed (and gained at the very end). I also had a lot of time to think and reflect about certain things in life. I do plan to do video to compare the differences so stay tuned =)
Great so glad i got your feedback, I am planing to do the French way, once my youngest turns 18 years (2 years from now) your videos help us understand the whys and hows and he (my son) and I got really motivated to do it, by listening to your narrative. We don't have particular reason to do it besides the experience itself, I am looking forward, do you have future plans to walk other routes? Thank you for posting and Buen Camino, let it rain!
@@robroman6453 I’m very glad to hear that Rob. I’m sure it will be a great experience for the both of you! I’d love to do the Northern or Primitive route next. I’m actually doing a workshop on the Camino tomorrow at work!
