I will always choose with the old way. I'll take a carb over fuel injection system's any day of the week. Sure they might be finicky sometimes but if they are, normally they aren't complicated to get up to spec. There sure was a lot of gunk that emptied out of your carb! Loved the video and your good old rooster letting the world know he has a voice lol! 😎
I really enjoy my S&S Shorty on my 66 FLH. Of course it was first designed as a drag racing carb, but it is very simple and easy to tune. A few years ago I added a float bowl drain, think I got it from Lowbrow, because my riding time is shorter now with the back. So I can shut off the petcock (Pingle) and drain the bowl while it sits during the winter. Also, treating the gas tanks with Evaporust removes ALL the rust and treats the metal so it won`t rust again. I run a good fuel filter too, not the cheapy plastic ones, but one I can clean. I get about 65-70 mpg and I like to get on it.
Awesome video you think you're forgetful wait till your 64 I can't remember where I left my bike anyway thanks for all the great info please don't change anything
How bad is the super E caburetor. Seems like a serious problem from all that I have read. Has S&S addressed this problem. I paid a lot for the carburetor kit and having it installed. It isn't even a year old and this is twice this has happened. I am going to contact S&S to see if they have had complaints about this. I have ordered a new needle valve and seat. I want to ride not wkrry about the possibility of a fire. After the first time i installed an inline filter from autozone. I also checked the float bowl and it seems like the whole problem is the needle valve.
The best thing you can do with an S&S carb is throw it away and put a Mikuni HSR42 on your bike. You can smell an S&S equipped bike before it gets there lol.
@buttcrackcycles I worked at Harley dealers for years and every person that ditched their S&S for a Mikuni were very thankful. Not only does the Mikuni flow WAY better, it doesn't leak and your gas mileage will improve. Only thing is, if you run ethanol gas, keep an extra float bowl o ring on hand until you get the jetting right. They grow with ethanol and are impossible to get back in the groove. But they will return to the proper size once they dry out. Weird but true.
i aways shut peacock off whencomtng to a stop if that happens out on a ride shut peacock off run sickel until it stops turn peacock back on it will flush out the needle & seat HAPPY TRAILS

Hahaha, yeah I've heard it just gets worse! Thanks for watching
I never really thought of it that way what you were saying about the gas…dang gum it even the roosters smarter than me🤦🏻♂️
@@alcorraalb6029 he's smarter than me some days too 😅
A filter will help a lot. Use a big 9ne though. Super E like a lot of fuel
Any suggestions for one that's not just one of those cheesey plastic lawn mower things? Something that actually looks decent under the bike
@buttcrackcycles I haven't found one yet. I use the cheesy plastic lol. Don't get glass. Too dangerous
I've used some pretty nice metal canister style ones on race cars with AN fittings on each side, but way too big for a bike lol! I'll do some digging
@buttcrackcycles yeah, I've only found the cheap plastic ones at Autozone lol.
Autozonechas a good one. The filter element can be changed.
inline filter, always.
🤘😎🤘
I get so nervous about that laying over against the jugs or heads and melting 😅

Mine started puking fuel again yesterday, while running this time, I'm not real happy with this thing currently...
Cool 😎

@@robertwhite2032 I'll be honest, I've given some pretty serious thoughts to chucking this one for a Mikuni...

I had the same.thing on my Mikuni carburettor a bit of something in the needle and seat ..
Yup, it happens! How do you like that Mikuni? Seems most do
