When it comes to stuff like that, cast members are only friendly and helpful for a few minutes After the attraction opens and only for a few guests. After like the 10th guest their attitudes change and their patience go out the door, why? Because they have to service several hundred to thousand guests, all of which ask the same questions and often times multiple times because they either don't pay attention or its too loud. You have better luck getting excellent customer service from a Gamestop Employee.
That generally hasn’t been true in my experience. The main Disney employees that have been rude to me were food service, but very rarely from cast members outside food service. I have also had friends work at Disney and they will get reprimanded if they are rude or even seen not smiling. But that’s in Florida, which in my opinion is run way better
It does kinnda make sense for the remote to look so simple cause 1, usually kids will use these and 2, if you look at controls in general in the star wars universe they are very obvious and almost always red, blue, or white.
@Dex Dillon the original trilogy was before green screen... they used blue. R2-A5 briefly seen in the original non special edition Episode IV was green
Not bad for the R Droids versions but the B droids seem a bit over priced. They have less accessories options and some people have reported that they are less interactive with other droids also the heads are very loose the magnets can hold it yes but not that well
I find both really good, the bb does have bad sides to though but i imagine if the droids are send radio waves at blackspire outpost(only) they get it at the same time to make illusion of talking so there should be no problem with bb communication
I think given the overall experience, its a fair price. I just wish the base price would include more decals and other minor pieces to customize your droid more unique. Having to purchase more decals on top of that price seems excessive.
If I get a bb unit, I would get the black and white one so I can have the remote, take off the head, and then try to play soccer with friends with it, and then freak them out when I control the ball!

I kinda liked the contrast between the two building experiences. To me it was like how in Star Wars almost anybody can have a droid, so the building process is more chaotic and crowded and I guess “public”. But building the lightsaber is more personal and private, it’s hidden in a corner already and in Star Wars not just anybody can go build a lightsaber. It captured the difference between the general Star Wars public and the Force Sensitive orders if that makes sense

Thanks for taking us along with you. My husband is really considering building one but we still aren't sure if it's worth the price. It's an awesome experience I would say.
I think your video and review mirrors my experience almost exactly. The custom saber build was literally "an experience." The cast members did a great job of acting, they were incredibly helpful with questions and instructions. The entire process was fun and very Disney-like. The droid build on the other hand, was a free for all. Even though an appointment was required at the time (I think they are now taking walk-ins), the cast members were either absent, distracted, or in such a hurry that they may have not even been there. It lead to increased build times (and therefore increased wait times) and people just helping each other out. It's already a slow process when you're inundated with choices/colors/parts and then to have to figure all the steps on your own was overwhelming for some. During my experience, the CMs didn't even point out the screwdrivers and so people were incredibly confused about how to get the arms to stay put. Thankfully, I'd watched a TH-cam video in advance and knew what to expect. Lastly, a lot of the parts were somewhat ill-fitting, especially the two chest pieces. It took me a while to find a matching set that didn't have one or both popping outward instead of resting flat. The droid itself is totally worth $99 to me. I would skip on the personality chip; the original sounds are more to my liking than any of the chips, but that's a totally subjective thing. They are fun and exactly the kind of little robot I always wanted when I was a kid.
Too much plastic, would have been nice to have some metal parts. And the remote control looks really cheap. Almost like a remote for one of those preschool toys. But I guess for $100, it's not too bad.
The Awkward Skeleton I perfectly agree with this statement I’m my opinion it ain’t bad at all once u take in the atmosphere and experience and personal enjoyment at the end except the price haha ha
For a $100 it's definitely bad...I have an R2-D2 that responds to my voice, moves on command/on his own, AND serves me a full soda can that I paid around $50 less for. A custom one that does way less is barely worth $50....especially when the technology they use in him to interact in the land isnt even new...it's old technology they used back in the early 2000s with pal Mickey (who did more and still does more lol)..This is cute but for the price it's pretty disappointing.
I think it's worth it just for the experience of letting you inner child out for a bit alone! The fact that you get a pretty cool toy to display is cool too though!! lol
You guys are literally just the cutest geeky people ever and I love it so much. Just your reactions to products in the store is so pure, you guys are brilliant😊😊
Sure would be cool if they thought of a way to make a follow me mode! Imagine all the droids following their new owner in the park. That would make it worth the $100 bucks and extend the experience. Don't think that tech is very expensive either.
Dude. Look up the old 80s Droid they used to sell in toystores!!! I own one. It follows you, obeys voice commands, has autonomous mode, and all kinds of stuff!! There ZERO sense they don't sell these anymore! I wouldn't sell mine for a thousand dollars! It's such a rad toy!!!!!! NOT small either. It's just a bit bigger than their Droid! Look them up!
I like mine, those tiny wheels have a hell of a time getting anywhere on anything but a perfect surface, but it was fun. I did a black and orange R2 style unit. Glad I came to disney land in late august there were no significant lines anywhere. Checked out the sabers too but didn't buy one as I have much higher quality VV and saberforge stuff at home
"Activates randomly throughout the land" is a great way to describe radio interference. I used to race RC cars so there is no way the remotes aren't interfering with each other. It's finicky.
You must not have done RC for a very long time. These days you can have thousands of RC cars and planes going at the same time. The number is virtually limitless because each transmitter and receiver are bound by a signature, or code, transmitted within the frequency. So even if there is another car sharing the same frequency, it doesn't matter because it doesn't have the same binding code.
I had zero wants to build a droid................................that was until I saw your vlog, looked like some fun and it was! Guys I love your channel with all the topics, please keep it up and your dry sense of humor, also thanks for the heads up on the stickers as I was tempted in buying until your review, as usual good stuff!!
The stickers on the head are not your fault. You can't put a flat sticker on a sphere. Cylinders and cones are okay, but spheres are not possible. Yet some manufacturers keep telling us to do just that...
Thanks for your review, guys. I'm going next week and I was originally thinking about getting the lightsaber, but now I'm thinking a droid would be more fun (more interactive)!
We just visited Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland yesterday on 11/15/2019. We specifically visited the Droid Depot to build and R2 unit because of your video. Luckily when we went there was not a long line and we got to take our time picking out the parts and building it. There was no rush whatsoever and our 5 year old daughter did most of the building herself which made the experience so much more fun and memorable. We bought a packet of the custom colored panels to match the head we chose. I thought the entire experience was well worth it. I had saved up extra money just for the droid because I watched your video and was aware of the prices beforehand. The backpack is well made and really looks good when carrying your droid around the park. I'm not sure who is having more fun with the droid, our 5 year old daughter or me! Thanks for putting up such an informative and fun video because you really influenced us to go and enjoy the experience. The employees really were very helpful and we were never rushed as the place was not busy when we visited. I think that was a plus as well.
We got early access to Galaxy Edge in florida, we bought the droid and we were really disappointed. It's cool but once you leave Galaxys edge it doesnt really beeps or talk. I would love to have it bluetooth to my phone and an App so we can control it with our phones and if they do it, maybe a translator too.
Honestly I would totally buy one of these and I’m not even a Star Wars nerd. I just remember in 2nd grade more than anything I wanted the red R2 droid obiwan had and asked Santa for it all year but I could never find anything bigger than a small action figure, damn I wish I could’ve grown up 10 years later
I’m definitely going going to buy a backpack for the droid, it will be at lot easier to carry, but I’m still wonder how that will get through airport security.
1. great video, thanks for sharing your experience. 2. you can use a small needle to open the bubbles. then use a hairdryer to reduce the bubbles. 3. You can apply decals using water, this trick is a life-saver. After cleaning your surface area, wet the area again using a spray bottle and a solution of about 5% soap / 95% water. Apply the sticker while the area is still wet.
Hey I saw you guys at Black Spire Outpost tonight, I was the guy with no boundaries that grabbed your arm and said "Hey man, love your videos!" lol sorry about that, we were rushing to get to a reservation and I just wanted to throw positive vibes your way.
💯
Too much plastic, would have been nice to have some metal parts. And the remote control looks really cheap. Almost like a remote for one of those preschool toys. But I guess for $100, it's not too bad.
J T-Rex yeah I will admit it’s a nice idea with beautiful scenery, but the product should have better quality
The Awkward Skeleton I perfectly agree with this statement I’m my opinion it ain’t bad at all once u take in the atmosphere and experience and personal enjoyment at the end except the price haha ha
The Awkward Skeleton well if they made better parts they would lack in profit and Disney builds on profit
BearBy TheBrick I just made one today and it’s a fun experience ! My only think bout the plastic is I wonder what kind of motors that would require
You guys are awesome!!! I really hope this channel gets big.
Thanks for watching and the kind words! Please tell everyone you think that will care about the channel haha
I have watched numerous build-a-droid videos and this one sticks out. You really take your time finding the right parts. That R3-unit looks gorgeous.
Thanks so much
$100 plus maybe $50 total for accessories? Looks ok, not great, but ok.
Welcome to the mind of a Disney Executive!
40 dollars for a bag, around 20 for personality chip.
Joshua Beauchamp but It’s true? So why is it a joke. They live there so they don’t need to do everything above.
Either lower the price on the droids or accessories but they do seem high even for the personality chips
Literally I want an all black Droid. When you said "I wish there was green" I feel the same way. But I like the look of black droids too
The blue and orage personality chip are the resistance for the droids
👍👍
This is so cool and its all about the experience. I think they did a great job on this
Thanks so much!
Keep it up guys really like that your just regular folks not trying to push any agenda..I look fwd to your next adventure🤖
Thanks so much
14:25 I love his Into the spider verse shirt. Love Gwen !! And you can tell this guy loves green lol
All fun and games till they tell you how much it cost.
I’d fork over $100 for this
This is the first time I’ve seen these two and their living room is the nerdiest thing I’ve ever seen and I love it
You guys are adorable. Love it when a couple has a common interest.
You guys definitely made the right choice doing all black. The mismatched colors look bad imo
I would like to see him after you do paint on him. I’m thinking of doing the same when I get my droid.
Very interested in your results.
I ended up buying extra droid parts, and personality chips. The extra accesories are pretty great.
Agreed. Just wish there as even more options
Another great video guys! I really enjoy these. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Bruce
I like mine, those tiny wheels have a hell of a time getting anywhere on anything but a perfect surface, but it was fun. I did a black and orange R2 style unit. Glad I came to disney land in late august there were no significant lines anywhere. Checked out the sabers too but didn't buy one as I have much higher quality VV and saberforge stuff at home
Most people adopt a pet.
i adopt a star wars droid.
I think you two will have a wonderful life together lol.
@@Fowsta Thanks
Just Install things over the years and then it could answer questions, talk human, and your best friend forever!!!
Wish we got something like this in the UK but then Jakku would just rain all the time 😂
Yeah, but it would give it more of a Blade Runner vibe. Which would actually be VERY cool.
Seeing this process play out is really helpful. Thanks for the video.
nice video. Building a droid is my top priority when I get to Galaxy's Edge.
Dude in green jacket behind you in line is me!!!! To the spire!
Ha what are the chances!
@@OrdinaryAdventures Never tell me the odds!
''...i've got a bad feeling about this...''
Me rewatching all of these videos because I’m really sad about Disneyland rn
We are sad it’s closed to but I hope our old videos can bring some of the magic back for you
Ordinary Adventures they do! And I just came across the picture from when I met you guys in the park and it made me miss it even more.
Your doggo is just here for the hugs😂
Small dogs love hugs well at least my mum and dads dog loves hugs and kisses
If all the droids had like a music player I wouldn’t want a Walkman for Christmas
Seems like that lack of help adds to the typical chaos of SW factories and junk yards.
That’s so great to hear! I’m glad you had a fun time 😊
@@OrdinaryAdventures Your channel is pretty awesome! Thanks for posting so much great content.
The dome stickers can't really lay flat, because a dome is a compound curve.
It would’ve been so much cooler if the control at least looked more professional and not so generic
You guys are so great. Seeing you having fun choosing the parts made me smile ear to ear.
Thanks for watching 😊😊
The best choice would be to install a roomba on a bb unit
Lol
I love how these things can make us sooo happy!!! wish I could afford the experience and the droooid hahaha
Hasbro made a far better R2-D2 over 15 years ago. It even responds to you and ACTUALLY carries drinks!
Best looking R-Unit I've seen!
Just subscribed. Thought I already was.
“DONT BE AFRAID WHEN IT STARTS MAKING SOME WEIRD NOISES” what type of noises???
😂
I love seeing normal youtubers explode. Congrats on your growth !! You two rock
Thanks so much
Sir, the maker was most pleased when he made you, and ma'am, you're his hope.
Thanks for watching and thanks for all the great tips!
Hey I saw you guys at Black Spire Outpost tonight, I was the guy with no boundaries that grabbed your arm and said "Hey man, love your videos!" lol sorry about that, we were rushing to get to a reservation and I just wanted to throw positive vibes your way. Seriously tho, love your videos and will continue to watch.
Ha no worries! Good meeting you!
I’m so excited to go to Disney World this summer!
