The vast majority of Android devices made after 2012 and a not insignificant amount before support NFC. Depending on the type of tag the crystal is, you should just be able to tap the tube on the back of your phone and read off the number to tell what's inside
my guess on how to achieve this effect is to have a color similar to black but still reflective in some way. then just a normal light going through it to create the effect scene in the show and comics.
You could do it, get some Vanta black on the inside and leave a few gaps for the lights to shine through and then put a white crystal in? I imagine you'd have to make some incision to the blade though I don't have a clue how'd you do it 🤷

The Disneyland experience doesn't have Yoda discuss yellow, white or black kyber crystal selections as to what "The Force" is calling to you! I think because nobody has used one in the movies yet (now Sequels back to just red and blue or green as I forgot what Rey ends up with in TLJ)!
@@falkenlaser Disney cast members are super accommodating to guests, it’s part of the experience that no one is supposed to have a bad time. If you politely asked for one ahead of time they would probably accommodate you, especially if it’s a special occasion. That being said, it does kind of ruin the fun of finding a black crystal on merit.

Things have changed again as of Oct 25, 2019. Kyber crystals are kept behind the counter at Doc Ondar's. When I asked for a red crystal, the cast member pulled out several for me to choose from. As you mentioned in your update, the newer crystal packages have a black sleeve inside so that you can no longer shine a light through them.
That actually sucks. I get it’s supposed to be rare or whatnot but if they are going to do that at least make it so u can buy a black crystal but for more money or whatever. Because I am going to galaxy’s edge and Disney in a couple months with my family and friends and their families, and we were gonna make lightsabers. All jokes aside I think this may be Snoke's obsidian fragment. He had one on his ring and rumors have it that when you put one of those obsidians from Galaxy's Edge in a Sith Holocron, you get a special messenge from Snoke.

I could see randomly happening upon a black kyber crystal but if you want one, holding up a light to the crystal tube still goes along with the feel of Galaxy’s Edge and Star Wars. A HUGE part of Galaxy’s Edge is hacking or deciphering alien text on boxes, finding secrets with the app, right? I see being resourceful like using your light to find hidden secrets is perfectly within the immersion, at least to me. In fact hopefully there are or Disney rolls out more secret physical parts like that, like the random interactive red buttons around the park.

I’ve been kind of skeptical about the cost to go do the whole GE thing but the saber and droid build looks pretty fun. I like the chase element they threw in with this crystal. That makes it more exciting.

We’re seeing a lot of posts about the Sith Holocron and the Black Crystal. We don’t have one, otherwise we’d post a video BUT when placed inside the Holocron it plays audio clips from Snoke from the sequel trilogy. Is this something that if we bought a Holocron, you’d want to see? Or is knowing it’s Snoke enough. Cause we can make another video if you’d like?

Hey I just want to provide an update here from Disney World. They're having somebody in front of the kyber crystals watching to see if people do this. When a worker walked away I started trying this technique out and they brought their supervisor over who got in my face yelling at me. So it looks like they caught on and you cannot do this in Florida

Even though I’m rather disappointed in the blade for the obsidian crystal, I’m happy they decided to keep it that way. Makes it more lore friendly. Besides, then they’d have to make different frames/design for the blade if need be.
People are shining flashlights through all the red crystals now-- buying them all up- and selling them on E-Bay--- they will have to rework the packaging.
@@OzziePerez1988 That's the best option. This would defeat even those with a few stockpiled to sell. Changing the packaging wouldn't fix the rarity issue.
Fan of the white myself, one with that "unstable" effect from the force unleashed games would be nice, it'd look like a saber made of pure force energy.
It was, in my opinion, the best decision Disney has made to add that bit of black paper that stops people from using this light trick. It means that scalpers cant easily find these crystals and overprice them to people who can't find them because they've been all bought up
@@OrlandoObsession good luck! Spent alot of time trying yesterday and it was a failure. So many people know about this. and it's really hard to find them now. They wont restock the black ones until they sell all the red ones from that batch. So people are even camping out the store waiting for them to restock. Line out the door as well.
This is a flashlight, nimrods. A blackhole is not a star that radiates black light. It is a gravity well that even light cannot escape from. You cannot creat a bulb that “shines” black light because the color black literally absorbs all light it does not reflect it. They could create a bulb that is Sabre length that worked similar to a tv monitor but that would likely be crazy expensive.
There is one. It's called Solari. It's pretty much an orange one but it could be worked around by making it neon instead of normal orange. However, it's in Legends continuity. And Disney only considers the movies and series "Canon" so we might never see Solari. Unless they make the Old Republic canon.
I made my own lightsaber at home out of a steel tube and plumbing bits. My own Kyber Crystal is a peice of volcanic glass I picked up on the black beaches of Lanzarote when on holiday in the Canary Islands. Not a trace of plastic on my lightsaber!!! xD
I noticed that the glow of the red krystal was more saturated bright red glow. With the black. It was a deep Blood red glow. Another small difference is the frequency of the tone between the two. Red has a mid tone while the dark crystal hums with a more lower tone. I like it!
Went to Galaxy's Edge the first and second day it was available to people with (4 hr) reservations, and quickly figured out I could search for the black crystals using my phone light. Still had no luck, but it was worth a shot. A guy who copied my method alongside me was able to score one pretty quickly though haha.

Shock The Gamer I just hope they open something similar for Disneyland Paris (it’s actually not in Paris, from what I know it’s quite far away so they’d have a decent amount of room) it’s much easier to access for brits like myself and there are cheaper options, I just don’t personally feel like having to carry around a massive lightsaber without the crystals, they’ll probably do it, especially since it’ll double the money they make
When I was a kid I remember saying I wanted a yellow lightsaber like whip weapon, or one with 4 blades, and a black lightsaber that was shorter cause it would be fun to fight against enemies in the dark. Funny how things progressed in the canon over time.
I kinda wish the obsidian crystal could be found in other color canisters (maybe violet?) as well and that it had a unique color other than red. I'm not looking to get a Sith saber, but I'd love to have a chance to find a black crystal for fun.
Yeah I hope people don't go out of their way to find a black one, leave it as a surprise. Don't 'hunt' for it or fight for it, just make the experience organic guys ahaha so hope I'll be able to go there one day aha

Thanks for the review and the tips. As some others have said, it is said that there will be "scalpers" who will likely wipe out the shops and resell for much higher prices. As for my OWN preference, I would use the flashlight trick to try and secure a black kyber...only for myself. Please let us know if you have a sith Holocron to try this out in!
For those that don’t know: this crystal is going for $300+ on eBay at the moment. Do yourself a favor and just don’t buy it. I get it, it looks amazing and you really want it, but it really doesn’t do anything different from the red crystal. I get it, it’s rare, still not worth it, especially if you’re going to be going out of your way to purchase it. This is just my personal opinion. If you still want to spend all of that, you do you. 🤷🏽♀️
The black one has snoke or in the Jedi holicron, Yoda. Red can have Palps, Kylo, Vader, Maul or Dooku, and in the Jedi one Yoda. Any Jedi color crystal in the sith holocron will get Palpatine. Blue can get Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rey or, even old man Luke because of tlj's ending from what I've seen. Green can get you Yoda, Luke, Qui-Gon or Asohka, again from what I've seen. White will give you Chirrut and Yellow will give you Temple Guard.
Hi, Thanks for the video. We went to galaxy’s edge 2 days ago and built lightsabers. Later we went to the shop and bought a few extra crystals so we might be able to swap around. We asked the shop assistant about the black crystals and was given the spiel - it is quite rare and we need to buy a red one. When we got to the hotel, we opened up the red crystal and found a dark crystal wrapped in black paper. When we put it into the lightsaber it glowed red so we thought “oops, we got a red one” and not the black one we were hoping for. After watching your video - it is now clear we have a black one....Yay! My son will be very pleased and we will probably end up fighting over who gets to have the black crystal in their saber. Thanks again and love the work.
I kept thinking of the duel between Vader and Ahsoka as they talked about the red blade. Mainly when Vader's helmet is split and he looks at her and says, "then you will die," as his light saber ignites
That's weird because starting the glow from the hilt and progressing to the tip is how all the light sabers in every Start Wars movie and fan film does it.
I hate the amount of lag these lightsabers have especially for the price being paid... Really hope it's a first release quality control bug. Just kinda ruins the illusion of the whole thing☹️
The black crystal doesn't change your lightsaber colour but if you put it into either of the holocrons you can get from galaxy's edge, it's suppose to play a unique recording from one of the Stars Wars cast
You can also place these crystals in both the Jedi and Sith Holocrons, they will change color and they will display a unique message from characters for each.
I actually got a black kyber crystal two days ago!!! Wish it had a black blade but the employees let me use a Sith and Jedi holocron to hear Snokes dialogue lines,really cool experience they were more excited to hear the lines then I was
Yeah. It's kind of disappointing but it would be kind of hard to implement black lights into the saber blades they produce. But I guess the thrill of it is to say you actually found one since they're so rare.
Guys I just realized something if you go to 4:03 just as she removes from shining the light on the kyber Krystal cases you notice that one case is extremely darker than the other so technically you can tell which case has the red Krystal and the black kyber Krystal without really having to use the light cause one case with be extremely darker than the other even the case is red it have a more darker look to it
Went to Galaxy’s Edge this past Saturday and I can tell you that scalpers were camped by the red kyber crystals and not letting anyone get near them. At one point a Disney employee attempted to stock them and people were ripping them out of the cast member’s hand, he got mad, told people to stop and then stopped stocking them. It was completely ridiculous. Soon these will only be slightly rare as more people get them so ignore the temporary inflated prices on Ebay. I really hope Disney does something about this. Next time you two post something like this online, think about the consequences first. This video literally took that chance away from a lot of people and gave it right to the scalpers.

Even though I’m rather disappointed in the blade for the obsidian crystal, I’m happy they decided to keep it that way. Makes it more lore friendly. Besides, then they’d have to make different frames/design for the blade if need be.

It was, in my opinion, the best decision Disney has made to add that bit of black paper that stops people from using this light trick. It means that scalpers cant easily find these crystals and overprice them to people who can't find them because they've been all bought up
These things are going for $400 plus on ebay, CHEERZ to the entrepreneur that goes out with their flashlight and makes thousands off this
Disney will quickly jump in and ban People doing this watch or just wrap all the red crystal in a Dark paper so this trick won't work anymore.
For sure the next batch produced will address this trick. No way Disney will allow that to slide.

They wont restock the black ones until they sell all the red ones from that batch. So people are even camping out the store waiting for them to restock. Line out the door as well.

This is a flashlight, nimrods. A blackhole is not a star that radiates black light. It is a gravity well that even light cannot escape from. You cannot creat a bulb that “shines” black light because the color black literally absorbs all light it does not reflect it. They could create a bulb that is Sabre length that worked similar to a tv monitor but that would likely be crazy expensive.
JB Miller Easy make it a white light, but make the plastic tube that goes over it a semi opaque black.

There is one. It's called Solari. It's pretty much an orange one but it could be worked around by making it neon instead of normal orange. However, it's in Legends continuity. And Disney only considers the movies and series "Canon" so we might never see Solari. Unless they make the Old Republic canon.

I made my own lightsaber at home out of a steel tube and plumbing bits. My own Kyber Crystal is a peice of volcanic glass I picked up on the black beaches of Lanzarote when on holiday in the Canary Islands. Not a trace of plastic on my lightsaber!!! xD

I noticed that the glow of the red krystal was more saturated bright red glow. With the black. It was a deep Blood red glow. Another small difference is the frequency of the tone between the two. Red has a mid tone while the dark crystal hums with a more lower tone. I like it!
Went to Galaxy's Edge the first and second day it was available to people with (4 hr) reservations, and quickly figured out I could search for the black crystals using my phone light. Still had no luck, but it was worth a shot. A guy who copied my method alongside me was able to score one pretty quickly though haha.
Good luck to anyone finding these anymore. I'm sure in a week there will be flash lights aplenty in the shops

Shock The Gamer I just hope they open something similar for Disneyland Paris (it’s actually not in Paris, from what I know it’s quite far away so they’d have a decent amount of room) it’s much easier to access for brits like myself and there are cheaper options, I just don’t personally feel like having to carry around a massive lightsaber without the crystals, they’ll probably do it, especially since it’ll double the money they make
When I was a kid I remember saying I wanted a yellow lightsaber like whip weapon, or one with 4 blades, and a black lightsaber that was shorter cause it would be fun to fight against enemies in the dark. Funny how things progressed in the canon over time.

The Sith Obsidian is a slightly darker shade of red. Plus the red ones more Orange in the tip

Actually when u build your saber they offer the purple one as well so a total of 4 are offered to you when you build it
These are sending out a NFC signal with the colour, with a small device you can change their ID and get whatever colour/ID you want.

In the light saber it does the same things that the red. But if you put it in the holocrons you will hear snoke instead of maul or palpatine.

Thanks for the review and the tips. As some others have said, it is said that there will be "scalpers" who will likely wipe out the shops and resell for much higher prices. As for my OWN preference, I would use the flashlight trick to try and secure a black kyber...only for myself. Please let us know if you have a sith Holocron to try this out in!

For those that don’t know: this crystal is going for $300+ on eBay at the moment. Do yourself a favor and just don’t buy it. I get it, it looks amazing and you really want it, but it really doesn’t do anything different from the red crystal. I get it, it’s rare, still not worth it, especially if you’re going to be going out of your way to purchase it. This is just my personal opinion. If you still want to spend all of that, you do you. 🤷🏽♀️

What message does the crystal have in the holocrons?
Darth Speedy supposedly it’s from a scene with snoke
The black one has snoke or in the Jedi holicron, Yoda.
Red can have Palps, Kylo, Vader, Maul or Dooku, and in the Jedi one Yoda.
Any Jedi color crystal in the sith holocron will get Palpatine.
Blue can get Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rey or, even old man Luke because of tlj's ending from what I've seen.
Green can get you Yoda, Luke, Qui-Gon or Asohka, again from what I've seen.
White will give you Chirrut and Yellow will give you Temple Guard.

Thanks for the video. We went to galaxy’s edge 2 days ago and built lightsabers. Later we went to the shop and bought a few extra crystals so we might be able to swap around. We asked the shop assistant about the black crystals and was given the spiel - it is quite rare and we need to buy a red one. When we got to the hotel, we opened up the red crystal and found a dark crystal wrapped in black paper. When we put it into the lightsaber it glowed red so we thought “oops, we got a red one” and not the black one we were hoping for. After watching your video - it is now clear we have a black one....Yay! My son will be very pleased and we will probably end up fighting over who gets to have the black crystal in their saber. Thanks again and love the work.

i do like how the saber turns on where the blade appears to come out of the hilt and not just lights up.
That's weird because starting the glow from the hilt and progressing to the tip is how all the light sabers in every Start Wars movie and fan film does it.
I hate the amount of lag these lightsabers have especially for the price being paid... Really hope it's a first release quality control bug. Just kinda ruins the illusion of the whole thing☹️

The black crystal doesn't change your lightsaber colour but if you put it into either of the holocrons you can get from galaxy's edge, it's suppose to play a unique recording from one of the Stars Wars cast

You can also place these crystals in both the Jedi and Sith Holocrons, they will change color and they will display a unique message from characters for each.
I actually got a black kyber crystal two days ago!!! Wish it had a black blade but the employees let me use a Sith and Jedi holocron to hear Snokes dialogue lines,really cool experience they were more excited to hear the lines then I was

Yeah. It's kind of disappointing but it would be kind of hard to implement black lights into the saber blades they produce. But I guess the thrill of it is to say you actually found one since they're so rare.
Guys I just realized something if you go to 4:03 just as she removes from shining the light on the kyber Krystal cases you notice that one case is extremely darker than the other so technically you can tell which case has the red Krystal and the black kyber Krystal without really having to use the light cause one case with be extremely darker than the other even the case is red it have a more darker look to it
Went to Galaxy’s Edge this past Saturday and I can tell you that scalpers were camped by the red kyber crystals and not letting anyone get near them. At one point a Disney employee attempted to stock them and people were ripping them out of the cast member’s hand, he got mad, told people to stop and then stopped stocking them. It was completely ridiculous. Soon these will only be slightly rare as more people get them so ignore the temporary inflated prices on Ebay. I really hope Disney does something about this. Next time you two post something like this online, think about the consequences first. This video literally took that chance away from a lot of people and gave it right to the scalpers.
