Essentially with this trick, you could find out what chips they are using, and start resin casting the crystals to match the color you program to the RFID chip inside. Could make a matching set so you wouldn't have to reprogram it every time you wanted a new color.

In fact, there are two different red colors and each one has a different ignition sound. The red Kyber Crystal and the Black Kyber Crystal both produce red blades but with different sound sets.

If its anything like I've seen with LED keyboards and the like, whenever you set it to white its actually a very pale blue. I'm sure there is some science behind it or something but I can't be bothered to look it up for a youtube comment.
Im actually putting in the extra effort to use RFID tags, colored resin 3d printed kyber crystals, and this rfid read/writer, to make each of the crystals for all of the colors, instead of having to constantly change the one when a new color is wanted
FYI I've made kyber crystals before from resin 3 printing, it's easiest to print all 5 or however many and then airbrush them each with ink for colour.
Actually all kyber crystals are translucent your force nature defines the color, so really doing it without coloring the crystal will be cooler and also when you have kids who like starwars tell them to choose a crystal but remember it chooses you then when they put it in the crystal suddenly glows green.
If Disney kept the stock levels up or had a route to buy the regular crystals online almost nobody would do this, they have no real right to complain. Awesome that you listed the various colors too, so people who don't want to experiment and hunt them don't have to. Thanks.

To make it realistic, you can have White Kyber Krystal. Then you can change it to different colors. Remember that Kyber Krystals has no color. They only change color depends on the Force User. 🙂
That’s now how that works. Crystal lore has blue, yellow, green, and purple. If a smith tries to make it more powerful the crystal cracks and bleeds turning red. Once it has been cleansed it turns white. It will never hold a color other then white or red again.
Idea: integrate this into a cosplay and change the color of the lightsaber in the creation process of it and amaze the guy who supervises the activity as well as the other guests
So interestingly there are two unsupported colors - orange and teal. There are two RFID codes which will change the crystal to that and we know it works because the small LEDs inside the chassis glow/flash those two colors when it’s done. The problem is the blade itself does not light up those unsupported colors. There are others that have been able to do it and you can find TH-cam videos but it involves using an Arduino and reprogramming the blade with it and doing more than is within my knowledge and a simple RFID reader :)

I was reading on Reddit that people who recently bought a custom lightsaber, the crystals can't be hacked anymore, but I can't test myself because I don't have an RFID writer. I got my lightsaber last week at Hollywood studios, we'll be looking to buy the writer soon to try it out.
Do you think it’s possible to change colors of the blades used on the legacy sabers? For example turning a temple guard saber’s blade to blue instead of yellow. Because the blades are the same as the ones mounted on savi’s workshop’s sabers and since it’s not the crystal itself giving the color, perhaps there’s a way of hacking those too?

This is good for y'all that got this. For everyone else with the same money get a different saber that comes pre programed with all the colors.

To make it realistic, you can have White Kyber Krystal. Then you can change it to different colors. Remember that Kyber Krystals has no color. They only change color depends on the Force User. 🙂
That’s now how that works. Crystal lore has blue, yellow, green, and purple. If a smith tries to make it more powerful the crystal cracks and bleeds turning red. Once it has been cleansed it turns white. It will never hold a color other then white or red again.
You also get all the different sound effects! Very cool.

No thats not true kylo rens saber was synthetic and thats why it was unstable most sith make there light sabers bleed

Can you program it to be colors besides the six? I really wanted to take a crystal and somehow make it into an orange blade. Maybe turquoise as well.
So interestingly there are two unsupported colors - orange and teal. There are two RFID codes which will change the crystal to that and we know it works because the small LEDs inside the chassis glow/flash those two colors when it’s done. The problem is the blade itself does not light up those unsupported colors. There are others that have been able to do it and you can find TH-cam videos but it involves using an Arduino and reprogramming the blade with it and doing more than is within my knowledge and a simple RFID reader :)
@@kbridges Thanks for the reply! I love that the two colors I was looking for happen to be the others it can do! In my own mind, it's because those were the DLC crystal colors from KOTOR 1. :p

Alex Bear the only colors the blade supports are the ones that the kyber crystals come in.

Tbh he'll be lucky if he doesn't get a cease and desist or a lawsuit, Disney is selling these things at an expense cost and well, showing 1.1 million people how to do this, let's say that there's 5 colors, and each crystal is $5 a pop and all 1.1 million people who saw this either own or plan on owning one of these sabers and all the colors of crystal, one kyber crystal is included so knowing this trick they dont buy the other colors..potential $20,200,000 loss for Disney. Bet they might be pissed?

I was reading on Reddit that people who recently bought a custom lightsaber, the crystals can't be hacked anymore, but I can't test myself because I don't have an RFID writer. I got my lightsaber last week at Hollywood studios, we'll be looking to buy the writer soon to try it out.

Do you think it’s possible to change colors of the blades used on the legacy sabers? For example turning a temple guard saber’s blade to blue instead of yellow. Because the blades are the same as the ones mounted on savi’s workshop’s sabers and since it’s not the crystal itself giving the color, perhaps there’s a way of hacking those too?
