👋If you’re new to my channel, my name is Luke. I'm a peak Grand Champ 3 Rocket League coach. I’m also the founder and CEO at GrandChampBootcamp.com. It’s a coaching company.

How I got here…
🔹12 yrs old: Started uploading minecraft videos at / @luke23mc
🔹16 yrs old: Switched to uploading Fortnite videos on this channel. You can go to my uploads sort oldest to newest to see all of my old Fortnite videos
🔹18 yrs old: Switched from Fortnite to Rocket League videos during Covid. I also began coaching players 1-on-1 on / spookluke
🔹19 yrs old: Rocket League went free to play and my channel blew up. To keep up with the demand for coaching, started the Grand Champ Roadmap --a rocket league course business
🔹20 yrs old: Developed company and continued to scale course business. Eventually, I dropped out of school to pursue TH-cam and the company full-time.
🔹21 yrs old: Switched from selling courses to coaching only. Released all courses for free on www.skool.com/gcb-free/about. Transformed GCR into GCB. Doubled coaching duration, cut price in half. Seeing results improve and students happier was worth making less money.
🔹22 yrs old: @Virge joined as director of coaching to further improve the coaching experience and help us make more free Rocket league content that is accessible to everyone.

I love Comms comment about how 2v2 can be boiled down to “who can capitalize on their 1v1s and who can minimize the amount of 1v1s their teammate ends up in”.
My C3 teammates think more along the lines of “I’m gonna go for this insanely low percentage aerial play and leave you in a 2v1, you suck if you can’t defend against them every time I leave you by yourself”
just get to a rank where your mates don't do that lol

I'm a huge Flakes fan. His 2v2 w/o mechanics helped me out a ton.
Yoooo sameeeeee, I used to think mechanics is everything which I mean can be useful but if you can play it safe and not over extend you can get pretty far
@Sebaztian Alcantar Exactly. Mechanics like half flips are very helpful, but until you're super confident in a certain mechanic and hit it consistently, leave it out of ranked matches. Casual, by all means, send that ceiling shot. Lol. Combining Flakes, Waytons back post rotation, and Luke's videos, I've climbed from Plat1 and sit at C1.
These podcasts are such quality content. It would be great to see additional pros come on for a discussion. Keep up the great content.

I love everything about this podcast but that last bit of wisdom from Comm really struck me, it makes so much sense. If you're first man challenging a solo play, play the ball, not the shot.
I can wear headphones at work but can’t look at my phone really. So the podcasts are perfect for me to listen to while I’m at work, then I can go home and try to implement them into my game. Thanks guys

Solid mechanics help massively but it’s reducing the mistakes that I feel is where the top players are at, or making your mistakes recoverable, I find the biggest issue with plat/diamond lobbies are people spitting there dummy out and just quitting after one goal/mistake and then having to grind harder as a 1v2 just to keep my MMR up.

I recently saw a video where DIA-SSL they were doing the Psyonix jan 2023 training packs and in plat they all had a problem with one ball. And they all though the solution was to speedflip. However, not flipping and just pressing boost was also enough. Sometimes you don't need fancy mechanics to reach the same goal.

I switched to Zenns controls, but for me its working better because its made my controls more comfortable; since my controls are weird to begin with.
Great video, definitely gonna check more of these out. I gotta say though, some of these pros forget how mechanical they actually are or something lol. They'll be like yeah you don't actually need mechanics.. just wait for mistakes, then when it's a 1v1 go air dribble bump the last guy and score..
As if setting up and executing air dribble bumps isn't mechanical at all xD They're so good they've forgotten what it was like to suck haha

Hey Spook! Love the videos. If You could change one thing about these types of videos, it would be to have short clips of what y’all are talking about to help us better visualize these scenarios. An example would be the attacking the corners. I know this would take a lot more work for You, but I believe it would be really beneficial for the avg viewer.

I still disagree there’s a response time difference between a button and a trigger that helps drastically.

I SWEAR TO GOD HEAVY CAR BUG IS REAL.
my take on this is that you can actually only get GC if you have high GC or even ssl level BASIC MECHANICS, however to get ssl without mechanics you most definitely need PRO LEVEL basic mechanics, not being able to ariel in GC is such a huge disadvantage to you and your team, i have seen way too many instances of this and its a bad influence to tell people that you dont need at least intermediate level mechanics
When they said you don’t need fancy mechanics, just air dribble bump and something else (I can’t remember), it was really interesting because I’m sitting at champ and can’t even dribble let alone imagine myself air dribbling. I can’t even jump off the wall into an aerial. The fact that they almost don’t consider air dribble bumping a mechanic makes me understand a lot better what they meant. They don’t mean no mechanics at all, they just mean there’s no need to be doing psychos and pogos
@@KayOScode i get what your saying, also luke often mentions (not only in this video but almost all his videos) that mechanics like double taps and flip resets are ''overrated'' in GC and above, whilst flip resets in itself might not be something you see in game all that often, the ability to BE ABLE TO DO SO is very important, not being able to aerial and have good car control is gonna leave you totally LOST around GC and high GC. unless you are a pro or ex pro like leth who knows the game and has the game sense to compensate for the missing mechanics

Everyone mistakes Flakes's philosophy with grounded Vs mechanical, that's NOT the case at all. Even later in the podcast they come to the real conclusion, it's about not over committing!
That philosophy can't be argued with imo
You def need mechanics or at least be able to make solo plays to get to SSL. Ball sense, defending, & making no small errors has got me to GC2/3 but I just can’t reach SSL. Everyone is so solid at that rank and you just can’t depend on people making mistakes to score anymore so I’m gonna disagree with Comm when he says “just hit the ball hard every time and you can get to SSL.” GC, yes. SSL, no.

In gold3 / plat 1 i feel you have to learn quick ariels to even consistently stay in plat.
not at all, if u just stay in net when they are on offense, aerialing like absolute monkeys, youll be able to counterattack them, as they wont recover as good as a champ for example, so you can just drive towards the net with the ball and it will probably be open.
Nope learn how to hit the ball consist and don't over commit
Bounce dribbles to the side then power shot will beat most plats you dont need aerials
hahah u are definetly wrong. C1 here. I got to diamond without aerialing at all. Wave dashes, half flips and strong booms. The problem is you think you need those so you rely on those too much and its every easy to overcommit

I'm low diamond and can't the double-crusty-nut-basement-nograsstouch-reset stuff. Since gold whenever I see people who do that stuff, I think either they're smurfing or they can't actually play the game for shit. They've practiced one or two TH-cam skills but not actually learnt to play the game

comms was def wrong about the air roll thing, he knows its the future, you can hear it in his voice. use both directional air rolls is better and always will be

Hi Luke, I was plat last season but I can’t get out gold this season because my teammates can’t rotate at ALL. (I’m not trying to be toxic btw)
How do I get out?
@@DA_POTATOES if you consistently don't have teammates that can rotate, that means your opponents don't either, so it still comes down to you. get good at defensive clears and shooting hard
What is the best thing to do to practice game sense, I presume it's just play games but wondering if there is anything else
Play games, replay reviews and look at better players playing
watch apparently jack replay reviews he has a whole other channel just for replay reviews

Keep your ball cam on. Helps you know where you need to be next and you can see everyone on the field.

I mean, he’s just posted a video that will save you lots of hours to improve. Maybe watch first, but my advice would be… Do the basics very well. Get good at air roll, wall plays, bounces, passing, and controlling the ball on hood

Probably off from what you were looking for but, keeping a good mentality and trying to not get tilted. tm8 missed the ball? Keep ur chin up and keep pushing. A major thing in platinum why people get stuck there is that they're so pessimistic they're too upset in every game to actually realize when it's they're fault and also that they're keeping themselves down by having such a horrible mentality.
always be focusing on not getting scored on and play for counter attack. defense defense defense. the opponents will give you free goals if you just cover your net well. learn to make saves and clear the ball with power, use training packs and freeplay to work on this. plat-dia is just play defense, dia-champ is the same but improve consistency, champ-gc is yet again more of the same but with more individual capability to control the ball in defense and offense.

Im sorry but in high gc2 plus, you will not find people who cant read backboard bouces. People are very agressive in 2s and if you just bang the ball all the time, you will not win the game if the other team is decent.

The heavy car bug is a REAL input lag and makes the car feel "heavy" as the car wont turn when it should and this screws everything up. Its literally unplayable. I went back to console for months when it happened to me. Then it went away when the season changed. Please stop this bullshit where you think a massive amount of people are just imagining things.
