I may have actually seen the 1984 winning Porsche on the Dakar rally, as for that year only the event passed through where we lived at the time. I think the Dakar will be the perfect supercar for Countrys with a lot of poorly surfaced roads!👍🏽
This is the Porsche that I think I would be happy with for many years. I would not intentionally take it off the road. I wouldn't take it on the track. But, I would drive it daily with a huge smile on my face. Just getting in and out of it comfortably would put another smile on my face. No decals, no goofy colored wheels, no tail on it but in orange with a custom interior would put another smile on my face. Wonder if Singer would tweak it?
Peter Falk started 1968 with a stock 911 2.0 liter 130 bhp at Rallye Montecarlo and he finished fifth overall. He is over 90 years old now. His Co-Driver was Herbert Linge who started at Porsche 1944 at 17 years…
When I rode my first STP (Seattle to Portland) bike ride, someone suggested I should shave my legs for greater aerodynamic performance. I'm like "I weigh 200 lbs and have the aerodynamic profile of a brick, and I'm doing this road race on a MOUNTAIN BIKE WITH KNOBBY TIRES. Maybe I need to do a few other things before shaving, you think?"
One of the Paris Dakar Porsche pilots was Jacky Ickx… but the overall winner was Rene Metge on 911 1983 and on 959 in 1985, 1984 the 959 did not finish with technical problems…
Wow what a great iteration of a Porsche i didn’t know of another great interaction between Donald and Jay..what was the Mercedes near the beginning u referenced? Do a segment on that one please
A very mature sensible description of a fine automobile. But I noticed the mention of a cost premium over a Carrera 4. Do they both use the same all wheel drive and besides the ground clearance of the Dakar, is the ride very much different, to warrent the cost difference?
I think this will be second in my Porsche to buy list just after the GT4RS, but it will be my daily driver for sure, now why 2nd ? The noise on the GT4 is outstanding and the capabilities take that Porsche to a crazy level of performance and perfection. I need those two.
Hello gentlemen . Wonder who's garage will be making space for one of these ! Well whatever gearbox it has , it has to be better than the "sportomatic " gearbox used in the 911 T ! With the deterioration of many roads worldwide Porsche will sell tens of thousands !!! Thanks both
A dual clutch gearbox is most definitely not a manual gearbox. It has two clutches with even and od gears on one and the other. There is no way to make a dual clutch manual. It would be like saying because it has a clutch it is a manual, or a automatic because it had very similar gears and synchromesh it could be a manual.
“The 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe PDK is not an automatic transmission, contrary to what some may believe. While automatic transmissions use a torque converter for gear changes, PDK transmissions use human input with paddle shifters to trigger gear changes.”
Many amazing destinations with only dirt road access that can get rough and muddy. Why not drive an SUV that's also a rear-engined 2 seater with 473 HP AWD and a suspension that raises 3 inches for off road! And no rattles!
the raised suspension's going to help out with retrieving objects that roll under it while it's parked in the garage. NO ONE will take this "off road".
A hooker that can cook! Love Jay and his old time humor, it’s something Milton Berle would have said…thanks Jay, great car and two of the best guys to review it…
Actually dual clutch is an automatic manual. Two sets of gears - not a fluid filled system torque based - just no clutch. Porsche should add a third pedal that guys could step on when shifting with the shifter like on the gt3 or using the paddles. Just to make old guys happy,
Here's an idea: Get the Carrera 4 GTS with a proper gearbox, use your US$64000,- (!!!) savings to: raise the suspension, fit rally tires, get a roofrack with KC lights, a jerrycan and a spare tire, and get the car wrapped with the CORRECT Rothmans livery. (None of this comedy "Rough roads" nonsense, wth Porsche, could you not get the rights after all that money?)

I live in New England and this seems like a great alternative to having a summer car and a winter car 👍🏼😎

I like how when Jay is singing the praises of the car, Donald is cheesing enjoying convo and ride.
What a really cool ride experience with two connoisseur's of the auto industry and Donald that bow tie is really popping with color! Thanks guys!
I love this pair. There’s no more well-spoken and gentlemanly presenter than Donald, yet when he puts his foot into it he cackles like a schoolboy.
I will donate money if Don can get Jay to wear a bow tie.
How much for Donald to wear jeans and a Jean shirt 😂
How much to wear a bow tie on his shirt collar - or dig deep to donate - how much to don a bow on his flowing silver locks? 😂
I say we go for an entire trading places scenario
"This is like a hooker that can cook" Jay is a riot! I can't wait for the Porsche ad with that line.
Another winner from the Porsche stable. Well Porsche always seem to have a winning habit.
“You can’t do this in a Lamborghini.” Wait until Jay sees the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato! It’s essentially their version of the Dakar…

If you were going to get this livery, you'd have to take off the pc "Roughroads" and replace it with "Rothmans".

The Dakar's livery isn't as crazy as Donald's 😂
Amazing what they come up with!!

Vic Elford won already 1969 the rally Monte Carlo with two wheel drive, overall he took 3 wins in consecutive years on the 911 S
Porsche - making grown men giggle since the 1950s....
Jay mentions the crappy California roads. The Smoking Tire's Matt Farah had a safari 911 custom built just for that reason.
It would be perfect if Beverly Hills had bumpy roads! I live on Roxbury and our roads are perfect for Hudson Hornets.

Donald is always looking shot with that bowtie

This dude trying to say a PDK is a "manual" gearbox is hilarious. If it doesn’t have 3 pedals it's NOT a manual!
You Sir are a human car 🚘 en·cy·clo·pe·di·a. 😁

I don' t understand why he said it is a C4S so you only get the PDK. You can get the C4S with a manual transmission.

So this is a new model? Not a 1984 model? ya mean to say that they r going to produce them now? 2023? Impressive
Yea, and it’s only $230,000! If you can find one…lol.
There’s a rumor online that the 992.2 will have a safari option, has anyone else heard that too?
Ok about how much of a premium? What’s a ballpark figure for one if u could be lucky enough to have one?😊
One sold on bring a trailer for 405k, 150 miles driven, only a 150k markup and no snotty salesman to deal with!!
Did I miss it or did they totally not say anything about Rothmans?
Ha, do like that one, or the idea of it. :)
c'mon Donald. If it shifts "automatically" then it's an automatic. fluid coupling? pssshh.
Hello.
And, sold another 2 units....
Who stole Donald's mustache?
250,000$?
nope. add another 150k lol.
405k for a 150 miles used example with all of the roof crap on bringatrailer
Sorry Donald, there are no dual clutch manual transmissions!
hold my Koenigsegg CC850

See how it compares to an Huracan Sterrato
Maybe just maybe you will see that video one day in the future!

What the hell. A off-road porsche review, strictly on a smooth road?
There are not many legal off-road places in our area, but we'd love to take it off-road soon! Thanks for watching
$100 they don't actually take it offroad.
Fun banter, dumb car. Dear god the a-pillar is a foot long.
