I always appreciate that Jay Leno lends his celebrity status to the work of this museum. He is thought of so highly by a lot of people who see him as an influential car person, that I am sure his presence really helps the goals of the museum.

Jay wasnt sold on the Spyker haha! I think he is spot on.
The C8 Aileron was where I think the Spyker design came together in a better package. But at that point it was too late.

As an owner-driver of a Mercedes-Benz with a dual gearbox I agree with Jay--it is currently the smoothest, fastest gearbox on this planet; a human cannot possibly manually shift as fast as a dual gearbox. All other automatic gearboxes at this point in time are also inferior to the dual.

I drove a 1966 C2 once. At the time, I had a C4 convertible. The C2 seemed really high to me, like a hay wagon. I was shocked at how clunky it felt going around corners. Later after I got my Viper, in comparison I thought my C4 Vette had awkward handling! Now Ive got an F8 Tributo, and it's the best handling car yet that I've ever owned. (Kept the Viper, though!)

Lamborghini wanted to save weight and they needed a transmission that was compact and could shift fast as well I also believe they said they wanted a more raw experience when it came to the shifts. That it would push you back in your seat and be somewhat violent so you could feel each shift. Donald is right about lifting off the throttle between shifts especially with the earlier Aventadors it shifts a little more smoothly when you do that.

Wow. Iconic beauty. Split window. The first C2. Priceless. Jays actually got a nice coat on. Lol. Spykers are rare. Looks like a Jag sort of. Lambo made a few cars that looked like this model. Take it or leave it. I agree with Leno. Not enough for the money. These two have agreeable disagreement. ❤❤😂😄😁😎👍

Donald is looking refined as ever. It's really great to see Jay "cleaned up" a bit as well. He's looking quite dapper with a nice haircut and a sports jacket. Naturally both he and Donald have the right to dress any way they want, but I must admit I miss how well-dressed Jay was when he was on the Tonight Show.
The camera angle is better in this video than in the Ford GT episode recently. In that video, the camera was a "fish eye belly cam" that tended to emphasize the "mid section" of the body, which didn't flatter. 😂

Oh my God!! C'mon Donald!! The 64 was built in St. Louis, Missouri! From the original thru 84 it was built in St. Louis, the number 2 carbuilding city in the country after Detroit for most of the 20th Century. Kind of info I would expect you guys to know. Weird..

The dynamic duo did it again! Great commentary from both guys. I never thought of Donald as the typical stereotype American more as the answer to those who see us as vulgar as his presentations of cars and houses are hardly in your face. Jay more unfiltered, surprisingly gave the Vette good marks. The C2 is my favorite also. The 327 is a great engine and Bizzarini made a good choice as the small block packs a lot of power in a small space.
Jay was surprisingly hard on the other cars, the Spyker looking garish with the bling, and his view of the Lambo was insightful in the it does look overkill with tech design, still beautiful.

The Spyker was a very light analogue sports car that didn't follow the blandness of it's day but stood out. It's not my taste either but some people think it's gorgeous and anything ballsy is better than more of the same. The interior is pure class, in craftsmenship, materials and taste. Vulgar? No. Spyker was also the first straight six engined car and the first with four wheel brakes.

That was a really interesting conversation. I think of the Lambo as being for rockstars and people who what to arrive like a rock star. here we have Jay who can definitely make an entrance like a rock star and he's not having it. The transmission would really bother me too, if I could afford one. What?! I just spent almost $900,000 and a Haracan STO shifts a lot better and costs $400000 less. The STO is the one that you want. If you want the classic V12, sigh, you just can't have it with a dual clutch trans. I guess that you can now. But it's a hybrid. That kind of misses the point.

Jay , Donald . I'm only into this in the first 10mins . But Jay , l agree with you . I've always held this car with the same esteem as the "e" type . Regarding the tyres , if you fitted radials on a mk2 Jaguar the camber had to be increased from positive to negative camber ,otherwise there was no positive gain in road manners . And the Corvette engine was also fitted to the Gordon Keeble , a very rare British "Super car " of the 1960's . Oh ! And by the way , a very poor item replacement on the right lower corner screen moulding . And there's only one" Lands end " and that's in Cornwall !!!

I really enjoy this series. I appreciate Jay's comments about the Lamborghini and especially the Spyker, where I think he is spot on. Supposedly tenuous connections, but versus Edith Wharton, the Spyker is on another planet. I usually appreciate Donald's and Jay's opinions about equally, but I favor Jay a lot here. But, I am a bit disappointed in his appreciation of architecture. He claims that Land's End is indistinguishable from modern houses--I don't get it. Just one look at the rather casual video shots of Land's End, the wood trims, the moldings, the windows and casings, the doors--I doubt a single piece of wood was bought from stock, even the cutting bits to shape the wood moldings may have been made to order. Jay is very sensitive about details in cars and knowledgeable about how they are achieved, but I think he needs to learn more about architecture. He can appreciate the difference between an unrestored car and an over-restored car. . .

I owned a 2005 VW Passat, 1.8 turbo and I got 4 speeding tickets the first year I owned it.
The car was a blast to drive at it's limit and never seemed to be going as fast as the speedo said.

Jay doesn't quite get home design - cars yes, but he struggles to see how these classic houses are of the period in which they were built. He doesn't seem to notice the details, as he does with cars, and thinks there all the same - that these designs could be homes built today.
