That is super awesome to hear! I've been bouncing around the idea of doing some devlogs in my head and was a little afraid of how it might be received... so thank you :)
Finally got around to watching this and looks amazing. Constructing mixable and matchable components like this for gear is a powerful and fun feature for dev's that want to update gear consistently. It also makes it much simpler if you wish to alter what any one weapon does later as you know where to go. Looking forward to it when its done! Love your work and art style as always.
I don't know how you always post things that are immediately relevant to me. I'm currently in the process of figuring out my combat system, and considering working on a per-weapon basis for their capabilities. Good luck! Race ya ;)
I really like your solution there! I was strugleing with the problem of doing animations for each weapon fitting to the hands of the player but now I will try it the same way you did. Thanks!
That's amazing, Bardent. I can't wait for the tutorials on it to see all the back end logic. This seems super useful and versatile. Can probably apply to many other systems as well, not just weapons. Things like environement, items, or NPCs could theoretically be wired up with a similar architecture. Since you asked, two things I'd like to see improved from your main series would be decoupling Transitions from the States themselves and also decoupling the Animator from transition logic to just play the animation (similar to Lost Relic's system).
After watching the video where he MADE HIS OWN EDITOR... I had to prove something to myself XD Definitely not up as great in quality as his but I'm proud of what I managed to accomplish. Glad you liked it :)
Great Idea. The modular weapon creator has a great design! There are going to be many cool weapons made with it, I will stay around to see how it works out. Looking forward for more videos
Wow dude, I just want to say I've followed your tutorials before in the beginning of this project and they were super useful and good. But dude this is a whole new level you've stepped up, Good job and amazing work. I hope you keep making these and get so much better. You should consider making some tutorials for like Udemy or other platforms.
Wow man this is awesome! Im way behind in video 8… still want to catch up with all the videos, but with this new weapon system im not sure if I should consider doing my animations for each weapon attack or use the same basic move and add the weapon as a child object as you do. Thanks for doing this! This is so epic
THIS IS SO COOL OMG I love this system and it seems to have aLOT of potential, but something cool would be that players would also have the ability to mess with the system. Maybe similar to Noita, players could "enchant" weapons or just mess around with the abilities
It was very fun to work with. Not gonna lie the first video takes forever as you have to make all your own components, but I think the next one will be a lot faster. Also just so you know I've watched your devlogs before and already subscribed a while back and they got a lot going for them 😄
@@Bardent I also loved the animation. I started game dev recently, but I have a huge background on playing games in general. And those animations of yours are very nice
Wow, amazing please create a tutorial on this, I have been having problems finding the right videos for this kind of stuff, would love to see the tutorials thanks for this.
Have you ever imagine to try this system with enemies? Like a automating building system for them, that you can create any type of enemy in a simple way as you showed with the weapons
Thank you! I will still make tutorials but I want to not rush and make a bad system. So I will do devlogs to share progress and once it is done I will continue the series :)
My original prototype for this system used almost only inheritance. But I can tell you from that experience it was not the right approach. Here, I think I found the sweet spot between eliminating repeat code using inheritance and making my functionality very extendable using composition.
Hi. You have great tutorials on the state machine. I wanted to know if there will be tutorials on ui or, for example, on implementing a dialog system? I would like you to bring the game from tutorials to the final stage (with menus, inventory, system dialogues, bosses, etc.). In any case, I wish you success.
There are lots of things I want to cover! The issue is balancing learning that for myself to the point where I understand it well enough to actually make content on it and then actually making the content. But hopefully eventually I will take the game through to completion :)
Ok now my question is how do you scale the weapons. My character is 32x32 Do I make a full size 32x32 sword or do I make it the size it would be on the character
Bro since 3 years im waiting for the end 🤣🤣🤣 u know what could be great ? Add a coin System to buy items, add Shop to buy items, add mobile ... please lets Do this bro
Hello Heinrich, I do apologise about asking you this through TH-cam comments, but I was curious if you have an email address available? I have a project I'd like to talk to you about. Much appreciated!

Missed your videos, glad to see you back!

I definitely also want to explore armor using this system. And thanks for he suggestions :)

Love what you do! Keep up the good work
Thank you!
This is looking great! Love watching other fellow indie game devs progress and level up!
Thank you :D
the time you spent on juicing up the visual with particles etc, really paid of!
I can imagine it feeling even more awesome with some sound effects.
Yes! I really need to learn more about sound soon... been putting it off for three years now XD

THIS IS AMAZING!!!!! Love the new animations 👏🏼

Looking forward to next episode:)
The new animations are sooooo good 😍
I absolutely love this series of tutorials and can't wait to see the next episode😋

@@Bardent bro when will you come back 👾 I thought you has magically disappeared from TH-cam 💀
I love the design of the modular weapon creator! Super cool stuff I will definitely stick around to see how this turns out.
It's so awesome that you're uploading again! I used to watch your platformer series (the FIRST one!) all the time!
This looks like an interesting game. Keep up the good work and don't give up.
Pretty awesome stuff to look for. I am happy you're back :)
Thank you :)
This is very informative! I would to se more technical devlogs like this one, keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
I love these types of videos, the editing is great! Hope to see more stuff like this!
I really enjoyed making this one so definitely expect seeing more :D
Awesome work!
Thanks a lot!
Neat! I've been looking for a clean way to set up skill effects and this looks helpful
Yes this could definitely work for that :D
Im trying to do things like this aswell but for MANY different systems. Great video. I love to see what other people are doing!
Waiting for your devlog: Devlog 1 - I Want Lots of Things!

That is a really cool idea! Because it is so component based it should be fairly simple to add components in the form of enchantments at runtime!
@@Bardent Wow, I was not actually expecting a reply. If my one comment actually affected the future of this game, that would be really amazing
Really interesting system and I have to look into remotion, I've been meaning to improve how my devlogs look and that looks interesting

Can't wait to show off more!!
just find this hiding treasure channel in youtube, your video is really good and help me a lot, thanks man
Thank you :D
You guys make it look like pixel animations are easy. It looks great

yeah, that what i always want to make, but with every game mechanic. COOL
Cool, constructive and interesting video)
Thank you very much!
@@Bardent waiting for new videos from You 🔥
Those swords and bows remind me so much of Dead Cells. Interested to see wherre this project goes.
I love that game and I definitely referenced it A LOT earlier. So I definitely need to figure out how to make it unique but I got lots of ideas 💡
my man is back
Have you ever imagine to try this system with enemies? Like a automating building system for them, that you can create any type of enemy in a simple way as you showed with the weapons
So hype for this one!!!!!! :D
PS: Are you going to continue with the best series on Earth (2D Platformer) in the future?
this is really good and how you handled your combat system.
Thank you :)
could you plz upload more about git? that video is super helpful! and even got me passed my tech interview
Looks really cool! Is the idea to show us how to make it when you have refined the system more? 😊
This is very cool
Thank you!
Animations are dope.
Thank you :)
Wow that's Amazing!
Will you include this features in next tutorial videos? Or It Will be Just for Dev?
Thank you! Yes the plan is to do a dev series to give my self to time to make the system RIGHT before I made a tutorial series on it :)
@@Bardent fantastic 😍
this is great! Keep it up!!!
Thank you!!
Nice video, so are you stop create tutorials or you will mix that with dev logs?

Please upload more videos i love yours.
I will! :D
this makes me think of godot a lot, just the huge focus on composition over inheritance

Super awesome video. But would be more awesome if you explained all this things with the codes also ✨😊
That look sick! does it mean you will need to rework the serie for the Weapons system ? Thank you !
Thank you :D Yes I will need to rework it but I did not get that far in the series so not too much will need to change :)
you should make a series where you just make some weapons with the system
maybe you could base them on comments or something
This is amazing . Can you please add a save and load option because every game needs it or may be an auto save .
Thank you :D I will definitely work on a save system once I figure out a proper game loop :)
The legend!
The myth!
Shield could be neat like a powerful sword but super short range and pushes enemies back
Lot's of options! Maybe I can make an episode making peoples ideas :D

What if the bow is placed in your back if not used and sword in the waist or back?
I like that idea!
pretty smart! gj !:)
Thank you :D
This reminds me so much of dead cells
nice idea
Thank you! 😊
What program are you using?
The game was being made using Unity and the animations in the video were made using Remotion - a React framework for making videos programmatically
nice video
Thank you
