The removal of the indicator stalk was a deal breaker for me. There are tight roundabouts everywhere here in Norway and these new buttons on the steering wheel are extremely annoying to use. It forces you to look down at the wheel in a critical situation with cars all around you, when your eyes really should be on the road!.. Not good! It's a stupid cost cutting measure at the expense of usability and safety. I've been using this for months in a new model S already and I absolutely hate it. So much so that that I dropped my plans to buy the new model 3 because of it. I just can't justify spending big money on a car that constantly annoys me. It doesn't feel safe taking your eyes off the road while in the middle of a busy roundabout. Nor does it feel safe NOT using the indicators. I constantly found myself in situations where other drivers became frustrated because I wasn't always able to indicate. Another problem with these is that you often end up pressing the wrong button, which can cause some dangerous situations. People think you are going to do one thing, but then the opposite happens.. The buttons don't always work either for some reason. I often find that I have to press twice, because it doesn't register the first time. At least in the model S, but it's the same system so I presume it's the same in the model 3. With a stalk it's pretty evident if you pushed it up or down. That's not the case with these buttons. You have no way of knowing which one you actually pressed, so if you want to make sure, you have to (again) look down at the screen.. It's a really big downgrade to be honest. Many Norwegian driving schools have gone as far as banning the new model 3 because they say it causes their students to fail their driving test in roundabouts. I can't blame them. I've been driving for 24 years, and I've never had problems indicating correctly in roundabouts before, until now. I suppose this works great in the US where there are mostly intersections, and the few roundabouts they do have are fairly large, so it's not much of an issue. But in Norway and most of the EU and the rest of the world which mostly uses roundabouts instead of intersections, this is a real pain in the ass to use.
Couldn’t agree more, I recently drove the 3 with these controls, 31:07 31:07 far too small to operate easily, didn’t always work first time either, off putting and very awkward. Not clever and a very bad idea, stops me buying the car for just this reason. (50 years driving in many different vehicles and at an advanced level). Another if it ain’t broken don’t try to fix it. !👹
The boot opening and no indication stalks are the only issue I have with this car. I hope to get one as my next car in two or three years time second hand as I can’t afford one new, so to all the people getting them now, look after it for us second owners
Recieved the Tesla Model 3 HL today (18in wheels). Previously had the Tesla M3P 21. The ride quality is massively improved, not just larger bumps but the smaller ones as well, it's a HUGE difference.
@@ap9983 Much, it's very quiet at all speeds. I noticed some slight vibrations at highway/motorway speeds which get a little more pronounced the faster I went (70+) but I'm almost certain it's a wheel balacing thing.
Nice and through review. I test drove one the other day. This car has a more smoother and quieter ride. However, I felt that the interior fabric on the door made the car feel "cheaper", for lack of better word. I also think leaving out the stalks is a big mistake IMO.
@@powersurge6878Yep, i did a test drive in the RWD and didn't like the fabric - nice to see the higher models get a much better looking and feeling Alcantara like before.
I'm not sure how you guys can afford to buy these. I have my 22 model 3 which I have lost over £ 24k in depreciation. Just to also add I have not done more than 10k miles per year no damage etc. As much as I used to like this car on top of the poor range in the winter my love and appreciation for this car is vanishing.
Removing the stalks is a mistake. It is another special thing that has to be explained to new drivers, like the interior door releases have to be explained to every new passenger (including the emergency releases; the door releases should be normal chrome levers and work electrically if there is power, and mechanically when power is out: no explanations needed). It will make it harder for car rental companies to rent Teslas. Hertz already bombard you with how-to emails when you rent a Tesla. The cost saving argument is bogus, given the cost incurred to add the purely cosmetic ambient lighting.
No it is not a mistake. If you would drive a Tesla car you would know how often we Tesla driver accidentally switch in to the wrong gear "R" instead of "D". Using the screen prevents that error.
@@frankoptis I have a Tesla with stalks and have never set off in the wrong direction. It's best to have a look at the PRND display before pressing the accelerator, in any vehicle, whatever the type of shifter. I could get used to a shifter on the screen, I admit, having driven most types over the years.
The M3 2022 LFP is a fantastic car. It has so much that is just right, like the phone just opening it and it switching on. My last car was a new S 75D but I like my M3 more. Saw an American Highland review and the LED strip didn’t match up between the door and dash but seems this one does.
How can auto indicate work? Would be very dangerous if you don't take the exit the sat nav thinks you are taking. For example, I might program my destination in, but make a local stop before getting on the road properly. Normally you just ignore the satnav for a bit, then start following it. Would be chaos if it tried to keep indicating.
Re stalkless auto-pilot/ cruise control engagement. Biggest concern noted has been lack of engagement with button click. One solution suggested has been the use of SEXY buttons. Will be interested to hear your experience after more use.
Taking away the indicator was daft - they should make it an option to add if they worry about costs. Sometimes the minimalism can go too far and I genuinely think this actually impacts the safety of driving this car. Fiddling about with finding the right button while trying to make a turn will likely result in unnecessary accidents. You don't even need to look with a regular indicator, you know where it is at all times and can just swipe it out of reflex. With a button you have to look down to select the correct one + when making tight turns as stated it may be difficult. The change in boot height is also very odd + i have a feeling the new fabric lining on the car might get dirtier more quickly / far more difficult to clean.. looks like a great car nonetheless. Just strange that some of the basics are overlooked.
Totally agree with the indicators, I am pretty sure that soon model 3 owners will be known for not using indicator especially agree that taking a roundabout will make it very hard to indicate when taking an exit, since the steeringwheel is turned and the button is hard to find. It’s probably the first time ever that I would skip on a car because of something as simple as an indicator..
There is retrofits kits coming from a modder company soon. So u can retrofit stalks for some bucks. And since many requested it, the company will bring us the kit soon they said. I am also thinking about retrofiting it then
Yes, because moving your finger on a screen is very difficult 🙄. Drive one and then get back to us. It’s literally not an issue whatsoever, unless you don’t have fingers.
I rather think he was being his usual amusing self as he also showed you need two hands to open the door! The gear automatically positions the direction when you first get in the car and put the seat belt on and even then you should check it is the right direction. It has a big arrow so easy to see. It would not do it in this situation and it’s really is simple and easy. The Seal looks a pretty good car but the brakes were very jerky or he was exaggerating it. Everyone has to choose whatever they prefer.
@@sr1157 Used this on the new model S for months, and utterly hated it. Extremely frustrating to use in roundabouts, which are everywhere here in Norway. You have to constantly look down at the steering wheel to find the buttons while in the middle of a critical situation with cars all around you. Stupid cost cutting design at the expense of usability and safety. Probably works well in the US though, since there are mostly intersections over there.
All "Highland" model 3's delivered outside of North America are made in the Shanghai factory and Tesla have confirmed numerous times that they use exactly the same drivetrain carried over from the outgoing model if they are made in that factory. 1 x 3D7 motor at the rear for all cars 194Kw / 340Nm @ 5400rpm + 1 x 3D3 motor at the front for LR 137Kw /219 Nm @ 6380rpm Same batteries, same inverters, same reduction gear.
Must be the same bloke who decided to get rid of the indicator stalks (that would drive me nuts by the way )and the not putting lights in the door handles 😂😂
Why TF dint’ t they make it a hatch? They have the Y production templates to re-tool with, elimination of an indicator stalk is totally illogical unless the alternative is better, this is clearly not, but could be…
The headrests are angled too far forward, apparently for extra whiplash support in a rear-end collision, but they are acutely uncomfortable for a lot of people as a result. I have removed the head rest and bent the metal rods that hold it in place so that the head rest is more vertical instead of tipped forward (perhaps a 20 degree change in their angle), more like the rear head rests, there are TH-cam videos on how to do this properly, makes it far more comfortable and still protective in an accident. Still can't height adjust them though!
My second Model 3 RWD LFP mic is now my last Tesla because I’m not the only one forced to ADAPT …….and reselling is just more difficult ‘down-the-road’ . Does anyone think this is going to be copied ???.
No other car manufacturer will copy Tesla on that. Tesla is the only car manufacturer that doesn't care about the driving experience because Elon wants to sell you his FSD software.
Please test the autopilot and auto wipers as I've read there are several issues owners are experiencing since the Christmas update. Nice video but I disagree with your comment that the car is not like an s-class is the corners. I feel its snappy feeling compared to the previous refresh is missing and it feel very boat like without a steering at high speeds. 140+ kph
Stalks are removed to save cost, i think they should have placed the indicators on the LHS and RHS of the wheel and added a clickable button. again these capacitive buttons will be cheaper. They tried this on the Plaid with the yoke but backed down and offered a wheel now.
I don’t think it’s about cost, it’s about minimalism. When I sat in one it looked really amazing and the buttons felt very positive. In my mind it’s a step in the right direction. It’s no different to driving an electric car……just different, you just have to get used to it.
Aren’t they trying get everything ready ahead of FSD where the car will indicate for itself. Be interesting to see how often you see drivers not using indicators on multi roundabout junctions in the future. You get why Tesla have done it but I imagine most people would have preferred stalks for the wipers as well. Or the 2023 versions
Don’t think it’s cost it preparing for steer-by-wire and FSD in the future. Personally I think it’s a mistake - why do it now when these sort of changes are years away, certainly in the UK.
Yeah it's a cost saver, which is completely stupid. It's nothing to do with improving the human interface. It's a detriment to safety, everyone hates it except the apologists who think the yoke was a good idea, and it should be illegal. I guarantee the people who claim it works fine on roundabouts and stuff just don't signal every time they are supposed to, and are, in fact, the drivers we all hate who aren't safe. It does let them make cars faster and cheaper, that is a good thing but there are some 'the best part is no part' options that are not actually helpful. Btw, I suspect the major cost saving for them is fitting the stalks and the gubbins that makes them work, and most importantly the time that takes on the production line. The switch and stalk are trivial and obviously no-one would care if they just charged £20 more for the vehicle even if stalks weren't over a century old and insanely cheap and reliable.
It is impressive that Tesla can and does do things like this. Yes, it is a cost down but once they have iterated on the design and it is as user-friendly as traditional indicators all other car makers will follow as this is another step forward. The other great thing Tesla has done on these new models is leverage their vision system as a parking sensor system. The vision system in any car is very expensive to implement so its good that it gets some use in the UK as a parking sensor system!.
Hi Richard and team. I am so glad you have got the new Model 3 LR. I love your videos and you helped me go for my first EV (Model 3 LR) and overcome early issues of range and charger anxiety (thank you). I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on and whether I should upgrade to the new version of the Model 3. I'm especially interested in how you get on without the stalks on our UK roundabouts and whether the lack of USS is a real issue or not (I love my USS which really help especially when there is no front cam). Thanks again for your very informative videos! All the best for 2024....you never know, I might have a model 3 LR to trade in!!
Im living in norway and got loads of roundabouts around where I live. I recon i used 2-3 hours to get used to the indicators, don`t think this will be a problem
Front seats I agree that I would like the extendable thigh support as in my previous Mercedes- however I have lifted up the front of the seat and no worries even on a 750 mile round trip.
Remain to be convinced on this one, there seems to be far too many compromises on this refresh, whereas all the changes on the last refresh were 100% improvements.
Just picked up my M3 HL today, my previous was a 2019 M3 SR+ (Fremont built). This is a massive improvement on ride, noise and general comfort. Very happy indeed!
Hi Richard, Good review. It will be interesting to see how you get on with the indicator stalks (or lack of) in the coming weeks. For me, at the moment, it would be a deal breaker I'm afraid as I don't want to turn into a BMW driver LOL. The drive being on the screen wouldn't be so bad as you don't tend to use that as much as the stalks. Jim
Thanks for the video. I purchased a 2023 Model Y on December 31st. One reason I purchased the car was to get the stalks before they eliminated them in the upcoming upgrade. After watching the video, I am delighted I moved forward and got a stalked car. Clearly it was an American who engineered this change into the car. Personally I think the stalk delete will hurt sales. We shall see. Thank you again Richard!
😂 stop being stupid yuh don't need a piece of stick to push up or down to turn. Your just so used to it that the change makes you nervous. The buttons are find. If this was a deciding factor then I truly feel bad for u
Please for love of God stop talking cm and mm and then in mph, just using metric system km/h. It’s confusing and not relevant data in Europe or rest of the world besides USA. Imperial system needs to be cancelled!
In the UK, we use metric for small measurements like 0-10 meters then miles for travelling further. We use MPH for speed. Obviously we use pints for liquid :)
it's interesting, when I was a kid many decades ago I was bought up with the imperial system, my parents (and us kids) moved down under when Ausi adopted the metric system. kmh, mm, kilograms etc. Now, I can't use or understand the old system any more. However there is one glaring exception! and that is when I want to go and get another set of tyres for my ute. Yep, my wildtrak still has 18inch wheels😃.
@@JRCarReviewsyou seem to be a bit ignorant here. You do realise this video is made in UK and the measurement for speed was always mph, right? If you can’t get past that and keep trolling (like you’ve done it before on this channel) then watch something else. For the love of god as you say
@@powersurge6878please I am not ignorant, but the fact that you people in UK and USA are refusing to give up on an outdated system is quite ridiculous. If we all learn english in Europe you should at least have decency to learn and use metric system all the way.

I THINK due to depreciation im not going to be able to order the new M3P as i bought the old m3p September 2022.. its MINT on 19,000 miles i put £14k down but its devalued way more than i thought so i doubt ill be able to finance my way into a new one without another whopping deposit. Advice?
No stalks no sale for me and it’s that simple. Creating a problem that didn’t exist. Do Tesla listen to feedback or if they do they have blind spots. A bit like being hell bent on no display right in front of you. A small screen for speed and nav wouldn’t be asking much. Think the new Volvo EX30 wins for me.
I am driving an Audi S3 and I decided on that weekend that I wanna order the car. It was a spontanous order from me as I am only 28 at the moment. But drove the 2022 Model 3 LR and I loved it. So I will get the new one end of february or early march. I am really excited about it
@@rlc2978 LOL - I swapped a 2019 Audi A4 45TFI for a 2023 Tesla RWD. I spent $26,400 (AUD) over 3 1/2 years & 80,000km on services, tyres, brakes and fuel, the car cost $82,300 and the best I could sell it for was $47,000 after weeks on the market- it was pristine and just had new brakes and tyres fitted. So far after 1 year and 20,000 km in my model 3 I have spent, $520 on fuel, $0 services (there are no scheduled services - my neighbour has spent $130 on cabin filters in 3 years in total), $0 brakes and tyres (both of which are cheaper and last longer than the A4). It cost me $58,300 after rebates ($61,300 before), It's a nicer car to drive and the insurance is 20% cheaper. It could pretty much depreciate to $0 and I's still be ahead after 5 years.
@RSymons RSEV Richard… is the seat on the Highland a bit wider on hip area than previous models (3, Y)? As I have some hip problems and they are just a bit narrow on that area (belt buckle level) and pushes me on that area and hurts and I have to keep moving/changing positions… so I was hoping that they get a tiny bit wider there to reduce pressure and more comfortable on longer rides. Hoping to get the new Model Y when current lease expires in 3 years, but if the seats are pretty much the same (apart from ventilated), I’ll have to look away from Tesla… 😢 Thank you!! Great channel!! 😊
You guys do an amazing job on your videos. I bought a pre owned model S. I will be buying a pre owned model 3. I have exactly what I need to know after watching your videos. Thx
I would like more about 2019 model 3, how is to live in 2024 with a 2019 model? Is the 2024 2.5 times better? As 2019 models are getting much more affordable now.
Tesla just rolled out adaptive "matrix style" headlights software for older models. Coincidence? Edit: Cracking myself away to the "how much junk is in your frunk"
couple of things you missed just as a wholistic changes though the generations. v1 had superbottle and intel cpu. v2 or the 2021 cars had heatpump with octo valve then v2.5 or the 2022 cars had and cpu. the deference in cpu is noticable with camera response so worth mentioning. and the heatpump makes a bid difference in climate control efficiency
There doesn't seem much difference between all 3. Tesla has had years now to bring out some thing amazing, that really turns heads but no its just the same old car tarted up a bit. It's all getting a bit long in the tooth compared to the competition. Oh and no indicator stalks!!stupid or what!
Honestly the auto-leavelling of the headlights is HUGE. Ever parked an older Model 3 on a slope? The headlight aim changes drastically and doesnt't change again until you open and shut the driver's door. You're either driving blind, or blinding everyone. :)
isn't nobody going to say that screen in the back is practically an afterthought? What normal person would like to squint at a small screen at an angle looking down instead of having something that is in front of you? Asks small child to look at a screen that is practically on the floor when they are in child seat and I can guarantee car sick in maximum 15 minutes.
in cz I'm still suprised after many years that people don't indicate on roundabouts... you just have to guess where they are going... round abouts are new here though :) So I wonder how common they are in usa ? Perhaps there will be after market ones ?

The wipers and indicators are massive mistakes and I honestly can't believe that with all the other safety compliance standards that have to be met that this has been allowed to go on sale. What are the chances the button and your brain are going to be in the right place to indicate as you exit a roundabout I like everything else though
@@connclissmann6514 I know it's a bit of an odd question, but the reason I asked it is because I happened to be renting a Tesla over the Halloween period, and at one time I was in a full 1 piece outfit, and was surprised to see that I could use the touch screen through the gloves just fine. Was just curious to see if it would be the same for the steering buttons 🤷🏿♂️
Think there is a sunglasses holder or can be used as such in the front central storage box. There is a "shelf" up front, better to feel than to see, but perfect for glasses/sunglasses.
Tesla’s failure to ‘appreciate’ criticism is the basis on why, IN MY OPINION, the ‘appreciative’ Chinese (BYD Seal as a M3 replacement) are such a serious threat. Then there is the Hyundai Group.
@davidpearn5925 Have you not realised that BYD *and* Tesla are likely to dominate (as per Toyota/ VW previously) and unless one or the other can build sufficient numbers to literally swamp the market (as in 75%+) the other will sell every car they make? . Next question, if BYD AND Tesla can achieve combined 75% market share, where will "the threat" come from? . Don't forget that Tesla is aiming for production of EVs ± double that of the previously best selling ICE manufacturer. (As for BYD , they have *volume* but do they have *profit* ?)
The rear screen is definitely susceptible to damage from kids. My 4yr old isn’t gentle with it at all. It’s also a bit of a distraction for me right now because he constantly wants me to change videos. Aside from that it’s great.
Have you seen Bjorn’s sexy button video for the highland? Solves a few issues and especially with main been and autopilot? Maybe be worth a vid from you Richard? Shame they couldn’t incorporate using indicators via the sexy buttons?🤔👍👍
My way around the stalks are s3xy buttons, where I have a button at the bottom of the wheel for indicating right (EU mainland, for left driving cars left would make more sense). Works perfect on roundabouts. Enhance auto, company of s3xy buttons, also anounced they will come with stalks, last date they said was March 2024.
I'm guessing just like with the volume wheel (if I want to turn it down as I'm maneuvering in a car park with the wheel upside down, I have to rotate it up instead), with the indicator buttons it will quickly become second nature to press the left button when indicating right if your steering wheel is upside down turning around a roundabout. Probably takes a couple of hours at most to start to sink in. And yes, those Mercedes (?) indicator stalks and gear stalks cost a fair few dollars each I'm sure. Much cheaper to have integrated haptic feedback buttons on the steering wheel. My pet peeve would be the Drive/Reverse slider. My brain automatically thinks pull back to go forwards and push forwards to go back, which would be the same as the old gear stalk: push away for reverse, pull towards for drive. Great video btw, good to see them all lined up for comparison and my almost identical 2019 with the better height boot opening for us beansprouts.
I really wish they’d included a factory-fitted swivel display. I just had to remove my third-party swivel adapter from my Model Y and going back to the original fixed screen is a downgrade. It makes a huge difference having it facing the driver a little more. Presume the after market kits will still be available for the Highland/Juniper but it technically needs to be removed before the car can be serviced by Tesla, and removing/re-fitting the original mount is a bit of a stressful process. I realise it’s something to differentiate between the S & the X but there’s also a massive price difference between the two let alone the LHD issue in the UK.
The indicator stalks won't be much of an issue here in the states as people here don't use them with any regularity anyway. Also, as a BMW driver, I make sure I ALWAYS use my indicators as not to be that guy. Good overall review. Well done.
Missing front bumper camera and HUD is the biggest issue for me with this car. :( Hoping for a more upgraded Model Y Juniper. It would feel like a big downgrade vs my IONIQ 5.
I have the 2022 model 3 LG and love it. Why no stalks on the new model 😢, you could control few things not only gears on the older model and Tesla should put that back. Changing gears was way quicker, safer and more intuitive. Not all new stuff is better.
A very exited Richard !- I'm excited too, but the money I lost in depreciation and the price reductions of new cars has impacted badly on used model 3's prices going forward and part exchange values. Yes it's a better car for sure with or without stalks. Looking into the next few years of Model 3 prices may have some disappointments to current owners.
It's so lame with Tesla. It's always a rumour something will be switched on etc. Imagine Audi etc doing that. No HUD, no drivers cluster, and no Model S or X Plaid. Tesla can keep their money. No stalks no lights on door handles. If you want to buy it so be it. I don't want to hear excuses.
Hi thanks for your videos, l have a 2019 model 3 long range and would be interested in the difference in the batteries in your three car line up. I’m guessing you will compare in a later video. Regards Steve 🚗👀
I tried a Model Plaid without the stalks and didn’t find it a problem - however having to put a wheelchair in the boot on most journeys, being a similar height and hairstyle to yourself, the lower boot lid could cause some swearing.
Thank you Richard for acknowledging that removing the stalks is controversial/contentious. A lot of other reviews just glaze over it. Yes you can get use to it but is it better without them? No.
some French youtubers (LaChaineEV) did some testing on the new tires and saw no real benefit in the efficiency unfortunately comparing an old Model 3 with 4s, an old model 3 with new tires and the new model 3
You do see the reflection in the windscreen of most of the aluminium part of the light bar if the sun is behind you. Trust me, done over 3000 miles in my Highland. I am a lot less bothered about it than before purchase. Maybe test it out on a sunny day Richard?

Maybe having no indicator stalks is designed to tempt over BMW drivers 😂😂😂 I actually thought BMW would have done this first
Here it comes thick and fast, highland content. Good work 👍👍👍
I'm not sure how you guys can afford to buy these.
Yes, it's better not to indicate at all than indicate you are exiting when you are not. Auto indicate can never work safely.
Re stalkless auto-pilot/ cruise control engagement. Biggest concern noted has been lack of engagement with button click. One solution suggested has been the use of SEXY buttons. Will be interested to hear your experience after more use.
Been watching bjorn then😁
@@freddydad1 Yeh Ive been laughing at his videos of that too. Having to fit a button for a basic car function. Well worth paying £50k for the car for.
The king!
Wow. Thorough review. Thank you. Enjoy your videos. Earnest honest, very unlike a car salesman.😁
Glad you enjoyed it. Have to say it as it is. Overall though very fab car. Long trip tomorrow will shake it down nicely.

Great video thanks you . Appreciate the honesty
I am also thinking about retrofiting it then
I’ve got no stalks and absolutely love it. This new M3 is PHENOMENAL ❤ Test drive it - you’ll be absolutely fine I’m sure.

removing gear lever is the worst imo. gonna be so annoying fiddling with screen in pressed situations.
I just got mine on Saturday and it really is simple. I definitely wouldn’t worry about the gear lever.
Yes, because moving your finger on a screen is very difficult 🙄. Drive one and then get back to us. It’s literally not an issue whatsoever, unless you don’t have fingers.
Check carwows comparison Model 3 vs BYD Seal. Looks so stupid when they're doing the parallel park test.
@@Danne89Carwow is a clown show not a car reviewer.
Removing the turn signal stalks was just absolutely stupid.
Believe me if you own one you will be fine. Might as well enjoy it. If you rent one for a w-e maybe not…
Also all the other functions, such as Forwards & Backwards, screenwasher, etc.
That was biggest and most annoying thing on a new car that will even when driving 100.000 miles feel better.
@@unintelligiblue So ? That does not make it better or more intuitive.
All "Highland" model 3's delivered outside of North America are made in the Shanghai factory and Tesla have confirmed numerous times that they use exactly the same drivetrain carried over from the outgoing model if they are made in that factory.
1 x 3D7 motor at the rear for all cars 194Kw / 340Nm @ 5400rpm + 1 x 3D3 motor at the front for LR 137Kw /219 Nm @ 6380rpm
Same batteries, same inverters, same reduction gear.
Richard has got used to the taycan seats lol.
Must be the same bloke who decided to get rid of the indicator stalks (that would drive me nuts by the way )and the not putting lights in the door handles 😂😂
Stop glossing over the missing stalks? We both know it’s a big mistake.
Really interesting and thorough video Richard. Testing a Highland on Weds. Looking forward to comparing it with my 21 LR.
Can not agree with you on the absence of indicator and gear selector stalk. This is a big letdown, not a small niggle 😂
Why TF dint’ t they make it a hatch? They have the Y production templates to re-tool with, elimination of an indicator stalk is totally illogical unless the alternative is better, this is clearly not, but could be…
unlikely to happen unfortunately, unless they make a new model.
140+ kph
thicker glass & sound dampening in the body, and the biggest difference is better tyres made to be more silent
Thank you for pointing out the changes in head clearance when reaching into the trunk. I assume the actuator is what limits the range of motion.
Front seats I agree that I would like the extendable thigh support as in my previous Mercedes- however I have lifted up the front of the seat and no worries even on a 750 mile round trip.
Tesla are doing a great job at closing their cars off from people with hand based dexterity/mobility issues.
Entirely agree. Stupid stupid stupid !🙈
Did you use the previous one as part of the payment?
Hi Richard, Good review. It will be interesting to see how you get on with the indicator stalks (or lack of) in the coming weeks. For me, at the moment, it would be a deal breaker I'm afraid as I don't want to turn into a BMW driver LOL. The drive being on the screen wouldn't be so bad as you don't tend to use that as much as the stalks. Jim
I hate to go on about it, but the lack of indicator stalks puts me off.
Where can I hang my plague mask?
@@anthonylloyd4425 No offense, you are in Europe just use the metric system it is more precise we all use it.

I’ve bought a new M3 Highland and LOVE IT. Extraordinary car. Got used to the stalks in about 5 minutes - easy peasy, I love change ❤❤❤
Hoping to get the new Model Y when current lease expires in 3 years, but if the seats are pretty much the same (apart from ventilated), I’ll have to look away from Tesla… 😢

Fantastic Richard, thank you!
5:40. Slack tyre fitting by Tesla there.
The red dot on the tyre wall should be by the valve. (I know it can be balanced out but it's bad practice)
isn't nobody going to say that screen in the back is practically an afterthought? What normal person would like to squint at a small screen at an angle looking down instead of having something that is in front of you? Asks small child to look at a screen that is practically on the floor when they are in child seat and I can guarantee car sick in maximum 15 minutes.

Have you not realised that BYD *and* Tesla are likely to dominate (as per Toyota/ VW previously) and unless one or the other can build sufficient numbers to literally swamp the market (as in 75%+) the other will sell every car they make?
On the new highland what do u do if u need your wipers in a emergency and the auto wipers dont come on ?
The rear screen is definitely susceptible to damage from kids. My 4yr old isn’t gentle with it at all. It’s also a bit of a distraction for me right now because he constantly wants me to change videos. Aside from that it’s great.
Have you seen Bjorn’s sexy button video for the highland? Solves a few issues and especially with main been and autopilot? Maybe be worth a vid from you Richard? Shame they couldn’t incorporate using indicators via the sexy buttons?🤔👍👍
Same company will bring stalks for Model 3 as well. That will be a hot product 😂
I’m a fanboy but I’d rather see USS vs ambient LED
