I heard Michael English sing this at a "Young Messiah" concert around 1991 before he even released the album. His version was the benchmark, I think, for decades. This performance is just so stunning, Lucy singing that high harmony was quite a break from their usual, if they have a usual, arrangement of Marha singing harmony low or high. Love the way Lucy gets up there high without any screeching and really showing her range.
I can so appreciate how stunned you seemed to be. Because they are "Stunning". Words just don't seem adequate sometimes to describe what we just witnessed. I love this version and I like watching Lucy’s eyes after she delivers that first high note. It’s as if she is looking at the crew and thinking “I told you I would hit it”. What’s unusual about this version is that Martha generally sticks to the melody and it is Lucy who is singing harmony, over Martha. It’s just beautiful. ❤
These young female singers are so, so gifted. Last year there was even a trio-song which included their mother as well... than you understand why Lucy and Martha both are singing so well: they must have it in their genes. Especially when you listen to Lucy's repertoir you can hear this goes beyond talent. No doubt she must be working very, very hard to achieve her goals, but at the same time it is "second nature" for her.
There isn't a single song that the Thomas sisters don't convert in a delight for our ears, it's always a treat listening to them. How talented this family is. I admire them. Thanks Saeed 👏👋
Lucy has a beautiful FULL voice I say wide, deep, long, POWERFUL, Like whipped cream compared to water, and Martha compliments her perfectly, she is developing still and what a pair !! !
They are singing about God,our creator,coming to earth in the flesh as baby Jesus to His mother Mary. One day He would lay down His life for the redemption of our sins,and raise to life 3 days later in victory over death,that all of us who believe in his sacrificial gift would have eternal life with Him on the day we leave this world.That's why it hits deep!
