I went back and forth on the Palisade and Telluride. Palisade won in tech, and Telluride the exterior front end. However, in the Virginia area, Kia dealers are marking up the Telluride by $15k, while a couple dealers are marking up the Palisade by $5k... but I was able to find one within 30 mins that offered MSRP, so going with the Palisade at the Limited level, with the digital display, HUD, push button electronic seating, and better sound system. With the same engine, same base, I can't believe people are paying the $15k premium on a $40-50k car. I didn't even pay over MSRP for my C8 (in my profile pic). Great video.. thanks!
I bought a 2022 KIA Telluride SX w/Nightfall package for my wife. She absolutely loves it. And although we did pay a $6k dealer markup, so far no regrets. In fact some other dealerships we called asked for $10k markups. And people still buy them up. Your 2021Kia Telluride review cemented our decision to get one. Thank you!!!

Non-luxury in Canada and you're looking at $50,000+ for the base model (after tax) of every model listed here. Kia Sorento, a midsize 7-seater can be had for $43K and change. In terms of value for dollar, I'd say that's a "best" feature.
Just for the powertrain and lack of real usability of the 3rd row the Telluride is definitely worth the price difference. The last Sorento is a step back unfortunately.
@@andreaspencer9813 Thanks for your reply. I didn't buy one; Just pointing out its a good value. Ah well. It's all positive engagement for the TH-cam algorithm.
As the owner of an AWD 2021 Hyundai Palisade Limited , I am impressed. Great gas mileage for such a roomy vehicle . It can handle towing my 19’ boat . The interior is stellar, better than the Telluride, IMO . I also like the fact that all of the body panels are body colored, unlike the Telluride . I do wish the Palisade had the Telluride’s folding side mirrors. There is no perfect vehicle, but both the Palisade and Telluride are really good . Finally, the Hyundai/Kia engine recalls do not apply to the Palisade or Telluride’s 3.8L V6 . The engine and 8 spd auto are stellar in both cases. I’m not worried one iota.

For Christmas, my husband and I ordered an S model Kia telluride Dark Moss, which should be here in about July. Which I am fine to wait because the markup isn't nearly as bad as a lot of the other dealerships.
This ranking has come at a perfect time. I just helped a friend get her family 7-seating SUV, since her Forester XT has been a decade ago and needs a replacement. She has looked at all the candidates in this fiercely competitive segment. She has chosen the landslide winner which is the Telluride, which already needed to wait 8 months to get 2023 model year. Even though Sorento's selected trim has stock to choose from, the attractive package of Telluride remains the one to beat. Believe this. After all the test drives, she actually disliked Ascent the most. Along with poor quality ratings in CR, she decided to go Korean.
We like the Sorento a lot and the Ascent offers great value for a 3rd row SUV but you can't beat the Telluride for the space, it's one of the biggest in this category.

Haha! Tell me more, please. I just sold my 95 Kia shortage and it was kind of crappy. I'm wondering if I should get the Telluride and your comment intrigues me.
It's not 3 row seater but I've finally narrowed my car down to a Subaru Forester Touring or Sport. I'm torn between the two.😭 The cvt in the sport isn't as loud as the limited that I test drove compared to the sport. I know it's not the touring but that's all they had at the moment. Thank you for your reviews!
Thank you very much for this review! I saw your sub-compact picks and was hoping you had done the same for mid-sized. You didn't disappoint! 9:17 - Y E S ! ! ! Thank you Andrea! I've been frustrated by this (can't get a bench seat in the top trim 3-row SUV) for years now! Well, I think you can get a bench seat in the Ford Explorer ST, but not the plusher softer-sprung top-trim level. I've got cash to pay for such a vehicle but all the non-luxury Asian manufacturers assume I have a family of 4, not 5. With 5 people, I wan5t everyone in the first 2 rows so we can use the rest of the space for cargo. And the idea of putting that 5th person in the 3rd row by themselves is not Ok, plus it uses up a bunch of cargo space. Regarding the Hyundai Palisade vs Kia Telluride, the former has FOUR-WAY LUMBAR! Yes! I know most folks probably don't care, but I need it for my back.
I wish the Pilot was more attractive. To me it looks like a bulked up Odyssey. Would love to see a more suv look in a redesign. We enjoyed our Highlander when we first got it, before our 2nd kid. But it didn't work as good as we hoped. To me the 3rd row is there, but not really usable. It is some cramped. Really wanted something smaller then full size, but adults can still fit in all rows. My main complaint with many of the choices, ..... if you want a bench 2nd row, you are stuck with lower trims.
I just ordered my telluride the other day, and the ETA is April ‘23 😭(live in Ont buying in Manitoba) currently in a Sorento and have been so impressed with Kia. Had a Chev Equinox before and although it was fine, I’ve had nothing but issues with GM Canada as a whole. Between the reliability of my current Kia and the wonderful customer service I’ve received, I have become a very loyal Kia customer
I was on the market for 3 row SUV and looking between the Toyota highlander and Kia telluride and ended up with 2022 Toyota highlander hybrid bronze edition.
I wish you guys had “honorable” mentioned the Kia Sorento which has standard 3 rows. I know it’s size cannot be compared to the “real” mid size SUV but as the owner of the vehicle (PHEV version), I found that all three rows have decent rooms, not to mention the stellar mpgs which makes me smile 😀😀😀
I totally agree. I recently sold my 2020 Pacifica PHEV and I only had to fill it up a few times a year or when I went on trips. I also saw no noticeable increase in my electric bill. I am now looking at the Sorento to replace it.
I will never understand making second row captain chairs standard on higher models! Just because someone wants a fully loaded trim but also wants a max seat figuration but can’t get it! Make it optional the whole point of these suvs is for families so taking one less seat doesn’t seem smart
Totally agree! That is one problem with the Sorento, it's a 7-passenger vehicle but only offers 6-seats on the top trim and the PHEV only has 6-seats with no offering of a bench seat on any trim. Very limiting.
I’ve seen dealers asking nearly $70k in Alberta for the Telluride Nightsky right now (car cost Canada isn’t going to help in this market). Is the Grand Cherokee L considered a “luxury” brand? I wish some of these brands would square off their designs a bit more (like the Atlas and arguably Telluride) for a more traditional SUV “look”. I love Honda, but the Pilot is so boring to look at. Atlas would be a contender on my list for our next SUV if VW improved their reliability, and improved their plasticky interior. Also, about Durango, there’s more than two engine choices ;-)
A friend a mind is buying a 2022 Kia Telluride SX. He found a dealer last year that said one was coming in before the end of the year and would sell it to him for MSRP. Fast forward to today and now the dealer is telling him that it one won't come until 2/18/2022. In addition, they are now selling it for $3.5K mark-up over MSRP due to the continued demand. He also had to pay a non-fundable deposit. I would have walked from the deal as the deposit should be refundable. Of note, the mark-up for this dealer is the cheapest in the area as a dealer near where I live is selling them with a mark-up of $10K. Ugh!
The mid-size SUVs look like station wagons similar to the Subaru Outback. Are there any boxy, truck style midsize SUVs similar to the old Ford Escape or old Toyota RAV4?
I’m curious why the Chevy Traverse didn’t make the video. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think for this category it has the largest cargo space.
I love watching your videos. Could you please do a full video review on the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson? I am seriously considering trading in my Elantra for this beautiful SUV. The Subaru Ascent didn't make it even to the honourable mention list? You spoke pretty highly of it in a few reviews you did... nevertheless, excellent video as always.
We wanted to add the Sorento and the Ascent as honourable mentions but we thought we can't mention everything. I think the competition in this category is fierce, there are so many good choices. Thanks for watching!
Hey, thank you for the reviews. I'd love you to mention the number of Isofix points in the reviews. For instance, ppl who are looking for an Isofix point on the 3rd row, have to filter so popular options like highlander, cx-9, etc...
Where is the Subaru Ascent? I just bought an Ascent and I test drove every SUV in your video except the Nissan. While the Hyundai and Kia are excellent and deserve to be in the top 5, I bought the Ascent instead. The Ascent drives smaller than either the Hyundai or Kia, similar to the CX9. The Ascent really handles well like a much smaller vehicle, but interior room is on par with any of the cars in your video. And, I could get my Ascent with a bench second row. I don't like captain's chairs, especially having dogs. The Subaru Symmetrical AWD is standard, full time, always on and is one of the best , if not the best, AWD system in the industry. And while I would rather have an 8 or 10 speed transmission over the Subaru's CVT, the 4 cylinder turbo pulls better around town than either the Hyundai or Kia even if it occasionally gets a bit buzzy with the CVT. I really thought I would be buying the Telluride, but the Ascent stands toe to toe with it. That surprised me. So I really am at a loss that the Ascent is nowhere to be found in your video.

Sold!
Yep, as a Canadian I pronounce "Mazda" they same way Andrea does!
Thank you! 😊
Hi to you both,
I enjoy seeing the top five did a nice job thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure!
Love you guys! Thank you for your diligence and expertise. Very helpful in helping me to understand what is available to drive out there😊
What is the car yall are filming in
VW Atlas is mid-size?
I wish the Pilot was more attractive. To me it looks like a bulked up Odyssey. Would love to see a more suv look in a redesign.
We enjoyed our Highlander when we first got it, before our 2nd kid. But it didn't work as good as we hoped. To me the 3rd row is there, but not really usable. It is some cramped. Really wanted something smaller then full size, but adults can still fit in all rows.
My main complaint with many of the choices, ..... if you want a bench 2nd row, you are stuck with lower trims.
I love the Palisade, it's just too large of a vehicle for my needs.
Love my Telluride!
Such a great choice!
In future, can you add what grade of gasoline each vehicle uses?
I was on the market for 3 row SUV and looking between the Toyota highlander and Kia telluride and ended up with 2022 Toyota highlander hybrid bronze edition.
What is the difference between Enclave and Transverse.
Can you guys also comment on wait times for a new one? I got my 23 cx9 after 1.5 months in Canada
Great video, are you planning of doing one for mid sized 2 row?
I wish you guys had “honorable” mentioned the Kia Sorento which has standard 3 rows. I know it’s size cannot be compared to the “real” mid size SUV but as the owner of the vehicle (PHEV version), I found that all three rows have decent rooms, not to mention the stellar mpgs which makes me smile 😀😀😀
I totally agree. I recently sold my 2020 Pacifica PHEV and I only had to fill it up a few times a year or when I went on trips. I also saw no noticeable increase in my electric bill. I am now looking at the Sorento to replace it.
You have to park the Kia outside or it will burn down your house
Did u burn ur house
@@corrosivedevourer Nonsense
This car is trash .There are so many problems in the long run .
What is the car you are sitting in? That seems a very good car
Just wish the top two had hybrid options. I prefer the Highlander hybrid Platinum
We test drove all of the vehicles mentioned and went with the Atlas. We love it, definitely the best in our opinion !
Awesome, glad you are enjoying it!
Long term reliability is the only thing that scares me with the Atlas.
Which is better Ford explorer St or Honda Pilot or Nissan pathfinder? Thanks
The Palisade and the Telluride get refreshes this year. Wonder if the redesigned Pilot will be able to keep up.
why ascent is not in list
I will sneak in the Nissan into top 5. Because of space and ride comfort
I will never understand making second row captain chairs standard on higher models! Just because someone wants a fully loaded trim but also wants a max seat figuration but can’t get it! Make it optional the whole point of these suvs is for families so taking one less seat doesn’t seem smart
I am totally with you on that. I guess not enough people complain about that, though.
Totally agree! That is one problem with the Sorento, it's a 7-passenger vehicle but only offers 6-seats on the top trim and the PHEV only has 6-seats with no offering of a bench seat on any trim. Very limiting.
I would love to see a Luxury mid-size SUV video! I am in the market!
Yes I agree with you.
Telluride #1
And I hv a all new Sorrento 2022 🙏🤣
The Sorento is a great SUV. The competition is fierce in this segment, all are very good.
I wish both Kia and Palisade offer bench seat option in the top trim.
Thanks for providing this info
What suv are guy in recoding this video?
I was so close to get a Highlander but it’s 3rd row it’s bad very small
Where did Subaru Ascent go?
We love the Subaru Ascent, it' s a great SUV and wanted to give it an honourable mention along with the Sorento, but the list gets too long.
Ugh!
im still on the fence with KIA and Hyundai lol. Maybe im old school but I still have trust issues with them...
Exactly. I'm old enough to still remember the crap they used to make.
Can someone explain why the markup here is so bad compared to Canada?
The mid-size SUVs look like station wagons similar to the Subaru Outback. Are there any boxy, truck style midsize SUVs similar to the old Ford Escape or old Toyota RAV4?
Thank you. I'm looking for my first SUV for my 40th birthday 🎂🎉
Why is Subaru forester wilderness isn't on the list ?
I’m curious why the Chevy Traverse didn’t make the video. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think for this category it has the largest cargo space.
Umm it's trash
Because it sucks
I love watching your videos. Could you please do a full video review on the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson?
I am seriously considering trading in my Elantra for this beautiful SUV.
I live in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 and would also like to know what the colour options are. I prefer a light interior. Thank you, Andrea & Zach
We haven't had the opportunity to drive the Tucson gas model yet, Hyundai doesn't have one available for us. We are putting out the Tucson PHEV review on Saturday, hope you like it. - Andrea
@@Motormouth... Thanks Andrea, I will definitely watch. 🙂
Just received delivery of our Telluride, love it.
Enjoy it
I need to test drive the pathfinder and telluride 🤔
Hyundai/Kia are becoming top notch car brands. The issue I have with detroit is the overpriced product they offer with subpar quality.
The Telluride doesn't appear to even offer Cloth seats. Is that a true statement?
Nice...thanks
Thanks for watching!
Wife likes the palisade and Santa Fe however I don’t due to the huge center console. No chance on getting road head in this thing.
Nice review. But did I miss drive line options? Where I live AWD is very desirable.
All have AWD
Excellent. Hard to find a popular vehicle in the U.S. without additional dealer mark-up.
Which one has the best room in the 3rd row?
