We have been using this for months and it’s great. I will usually watch another of your videos on like compressor or something then go back to the church and use this technique to apply what I learnt. The other week I spent about three hours taking my time on each channel was so happy by the end of it with the sound. Virtual sound check is amazing.
So let me get this right you setup your computer to record all channels than play back into the x32 and can eq and do all your adjustments while no band or pastor is present ?

@@original_pokey8896 yessssssss how do you replay it back to the board and it doesn’t mess with any settings for the normal sound channels or anything. I’m just sending the inputs to the card than computer
@@sgriffin760 search virtual sound check. I’m pretty sure drew has done a video on it. It doesn’t mess with your settings cause you sending the signal after the pre amp and sending back that same signal.

Great video! I use my x32 as a recording interface with Cubase. Be sure to include the link to the video you did on getting a post dynamic and eq send from the card to the computer using the P16 outs. It is a great option if you want to compress or add some shelving before the DAW. Especially if you don't have any outboard gear. Cheers!

Love the videos Drew! How about a video on getting the input from the X32, into the DAW then out to a livestream. That could be useful given the plugins available to improve and polish a stream mix.

I’ve done it. Not bad at all.
I just wish I could take the direct outs so I could run it like a post fader mix. Which would make it easier for volunteers to manage. Be able to set the daw stream and forget it because you could mute it on the board and and the daw would not receive any signal.

@@JaredAlexanderStevenson a second computer for solely streaming would be your best bet. I’ve done virtual interfaces that route but it’s not reliable. Best to have a second computer you could monitor out to
If you want to have your EQ and volume settings on your console affect the recording, I believe you can set the Card Outputs (2:03) to User Input Routing outputs. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
Hi Drew, love your videos. I have Aux in 1-4 routed to channels 17-20 on my x32 producer. How do I get the Aux 1-4 audio signal to the xusb card so I can see them as channel s 17-20 in Logic Pro?

I’ve been exploring the idea of simultaneous multitrack recording on two separate computers from a single X32. I have a Mac Studio for live streaming and MacBook Pro I’d like to multitrack raw audio on. Currently using Logic Pro X for both.
The reason for this desired set up is that I need to make plug-in adjustments while live streaming and can not simultaneously record audio while making those adjustments. I need a way to split the signal two ways.
Have you found a way to achieve this, we are needing to do the same?

Hey Drew, another great video. I'm have my iPad connected to Aux 5 and Aux 6 (L & R), and want to send them to Reaper as well. Tried different routing changes but can't seem to get it. Have you tried this and had any luck? (I've searched for videos on-line and all are old based on previous versions of X32Edit so they're quite confusing).

Great video Drew! If you are multi track recording a venue and the computer sudenly turns off, you still hear the sound in the PA? Or the signal gets interrupted?
I’ve always wondered, how do you get good signals in your multitrack mix. I wanna have even and nice signals in my DAW. You know, at times you seem to find some signals clipping and others very low and in the end you would have to normalize or amplify them in order you mix properly. Also I wanna know how to multitrack with procession and effects, i.e if that’s possible. Any pointers or a video perhaps? Thanks

I have the Barringer compact with the 16-channel stage box. I know that you showed a video that we can do that through the pier 16 headphone monitoring. Any chance you could do a video on using the X-WSG card connected to the network port of a Windows PC? Lots of videos covering similar topics but almost none with current firmware or for a PC.
I wish I still had a Waves X-WSG card! I had to send it back to Waves a long time ago. You can follow this older video I made: Routing Waves SoundGrid X-WSG: 32 Channels of MultiRack
th-cam.com/video/_Y84TDshmKE/w-d-xo.html. If you are using the User In routing, select that instead of Local or AES50. Once you have the waves soundgrid driver installed on your computer, you can select the soundgrid as the input for your daw you want to multitrack with.

in a DAW, Can you have all channels (dn32-live) for recording and a different sound card for playback(Effects plugins monitoring) ? for live broadcast project i am testing?
What if you're using your card on a windows pc and you're already sending the audio to a program like OBS for a live stream. Windows requires the card to be in 2 in 2 out mode if you want to use the audio in something other than a daw. Is multi track recording no longer an option in this case? Is there an alternate way to do it?
I always direct X/M32 users to your channel. Wish I would have been able to connect with you while you were at CCV.

Any ideas what I can do to get a hotter level into my daw? The leves when recording out via usb into the daw are always very low
Can you record what's coming out of the USB Player into a DAW? Let's say, a band is using a metronome/backing track launched from the usb player (L and R, so 2 channels), and I want to record that as an audio track as well, how could I do that?
What is the INPUTS Play section for? Is that only required for playback from the computer? If I wanted to only record a band rehearsal only and not do any playback can I skip the IPUTS Play setup?
Can you give us some information about the 32bit option on the x32… also with the sd16?
I am looking to set this up with a Windows machine. When adjusting the preferences and the Audio input I do not get X USB but rather several options. IN 3-4 (Behringer X-USB) or IN 5-6 (Behringer X-USB) or IN 1-8 (Behringer X-USB). Nothing seems to work when trying to complete the mapping. Any suggestions?

Worked great with our old computer. Upgraded computer, couldn't use same software as the license had expired. Installed different DAW software and neither is recognizing our X-USB. Anyone have ideas?
I believe I have followed all these steps, and when I have audio going through the board it is not coming up in the daw, I also tried studio one and still no luck, I’m using a Mac, is there anything that I might be missing?

Drew, I'm looking at doing a multi track recording off an X32 into Logic. My band uses an X32 rack with the S32 expansion rack for all our channels. If I'm plugged into the card on the X32, will it also pick up the S32? Any potential issues with using the console for live PA output and simultaneously doing a multi-track record?
Hi Drew, I am trying to improve my sound tech abilities and have never done the virtual soundcheck before. Does the virtual sound check also include the aux channels or just channels 1-32. To be honest kinda hesitant to try. I don't want to mess up the setup that is already in place.
So, If I just do the first step without doing all the matrix stuff will I be able to record on the laptop without sending any audio from the laptop to the x32?

Reaper. I believe that I configured everything as before but I can't get

hello, really new to this so excuse my questions; can recording on a usb straight into the soundboard achieve same multitrack results as through a cable+computer and a software, or just 1 file with all tracks already put together ?. I am using a Midas m32R
Only stereo L&R to a USB thumb drive.
What version of reaper are you using? My routing matrix is only half of that... I'm doing something wrong.

Hey i have been doing some multitracks on my new m32 live console using the Waves Tracks live software. However i have noticed that whenever i record, it seems the recordings are tapped before the preamp gain settings because the sources sound so quiet and low especially vocals. I can easily fix this with normalize while mixing on the DAW but i feel something is off. Pls help if anyone has a clue as to what is wrong with my setup. Thanks

Hi Drew, great video as always! Your teaching is simple, but effective and I always lear a lot.
I've already recorded multitracks before successfully, but this weekend I recorded a set for a band and the audio files are all sped up and they're unusable. I was wondering what I might've missed; I checked the routing was correct and audio was going through, I also reinstalled the drivers for the M32Live. This hasn't happened to me before with any kind of recording. Do you know what could've been the issue? Note that my laptop is old and that's what I'm claiming created the problem.

@HomeGoingJubilee you're correct! I noticed that was the issue after a few weeks. I've had plenty of shows after it and never ran into the same issue.
My biggest issue is to be able to do a recording (which works properly) and hear it out the main outputs and still be able to record. I'd like to know if there is a way to multitrack record, play that recording out the main L/R speakers and layer another guitar or vocal while recording. Is this possible? I've the compact version btw
how to make all the processing on the console affects our recording?
my pc speakers output and my daw input output only lets me choose either channel 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-8 or 1-8, how do i set it to all 32 channels

I do this, and I’m not exactly sure how I did it. My routing is exactly as outlined in this video, but I can apply effects before, while, and after recording. I’m in the process of learning, but I have a loooong way to go…

@@TheJAIRCRUZI played with it last night, and it’s a nogo. No effects going into reaper. I was either confused, hallucinating, or both. Or I routed something without knowing it. I do think it’s possible, and it would probably involve the “user” routing. It seems like almost anything is possible using that. I almost caught my desk on fire that way. Sorry I don’t have an answer for you.
Hi, this is Leroy and I am starting to learn this board at my church and your videos have been VERY HELPFUL. My question is If I record our Sunday service on the the USB can I use that to make adjustments as long as I select the channel they are on as well as musicians?
Reason being so that I can do it when they are not there or mess with them while they practice….

Drew, I'm just getting started learning to use my x32 Compact to record music and I'm having some issues getting the mixer to talk to my laptop. Hardware wise I have the x32 Compact board with one stage box to give me all 32 inputs. My laptop is running Windows 11 Home with the X-USB software installed and Reaper as my DAW. I was watching your multitrack tutorial and noticed that in Reaper under Preferences, Audio Device I do not see the X-USB as an input source. Any suggestions what I am forgetting to do to get this up and running?

Hi Brashler, like to know can I do the same Multitrack Recording Setup from Behringer X32, with GarageBand ?
With Reaper or GarageBand same time Recording 32 Multitrack also can I record Master Stereo as additional track on to the Daw (as the Master is the Final mix which is being released on the front house with EQ) (as independent Multitrack Recording 32 is with out EQ)
With Reaper or GarageBand as we Recording Multitrack 32 channels individually, 32 can I send the same individual 32 channels back to the Behringer X32 which I can control with the individual fader from the Mixer also can I send the Master Stereo
After following all the steps I am still not getting any signal in the tracks. Any ideas what could be set wrong on my computer?
X-USB option isn't available on the Reaper software for me. Computer hooked up to the X32, did the routing just like you did in the video, no X-USB.
Is it available in the trial version?
At first, I had this problem however, Mac security was causing the issue. By default macOS blocks new accessories. I need to go into the macOS preferences and allow it to connect to them.
Can you make one but with logic ?
How to assign aux inputs?
Is there a way to save channel strips on the X32? For example, if we rotate through a handful of vocalists every week, I’d like to be able to save and recall a channel with the name, lowcut/EQ and compression settings stored. Can you make a video on that if it’s possible?

To the right of the display screen fifth button down, LIBRARY, you can save all the parameters of a channel strip, and recall in to any channel, individual components or the whole channel settings. We use this extensively to build mixes week by week.
Below right, SCENES, you can save an entire setup. For instance if you’re doing a special event, before you start save a scene. Then when you finish the event you can go back to normal.
I don’t have adequate volume from reaper when I listen back after multitrack recording.

Suppose on playback into the console, you need to adjust gain by trim either up or down.
Can you verify whether trim from card scale is equal to preamps scale for normal operation?
Example: bass input too high. You take -3 off on card input.
Would -3 on preamp position number (24 to 21) get the same resulting input level, all other variables being equal?
No adjusting required. Wherever you have recorded will come back into the console 1 for 1. It’s so you can mix completely like the band was in the room. This is what I find and my understanding.
@@original_pokey8896 yes true but when you find you don’t like gain staging on some channels and want to fix it for next service…

It's only reading your stereo Left & Right.
Can I set mine up with 16 I/O so I don't need to flip the record/play button in the Card menu on the X32 in order to play back the multitrack recording, or does the X-USB card only have a "one-way at a time" communication capability?
I guess to clarify, I'd like to send from the X32 on channels 1-16 and receive on 17-32 simultaneously.

@@Backtoflying I did figure it out. In the routing inputs tab, you just need channels 1-16 set to "Local 1-16" and 17-32 set to "Card 1-16". Then you need to set up your DAW so that it's channels 1-16 are going in and out (mono) on their respective channels (1-16). This allows for 16 channels of live local input on the board, as well as 16 simultaneous input channels from the DAW.
Edit: Card outputs also need to be enabled and configured as 32 in 32 out. Then this should work.
