It won't let me upload or correct the size of my photo signature because the application was already rejected. Please let me know. Thanks, LS.
Hi LS - Glad it helps.. 1. Watch this video for self help (DIY- Do it youself) photo/ signature dimensions - th-cam.com/video/WM5acysy0aE/w-d-xo.html 2. If the application has been rejected, create a new application with correct photo & signature as Re-upload of documents/photo/signature cannot be performed once your application gets acknowledged (in your case rejected) at Indian Mission/FRRO. If it wasn't rejected then you would have been able to reupload the photo or signature but now that it has been rejected, you would create a new application. Please confirm once you are able to successfully able to submit your application so that others can benefit from this information as well.

This was the most tricky part for OCI application of my minor daughter. The birth certificate is issued by the state in which the individual was born, so you will need to reach out to Secretary of state (US embassy will be unable to help with this) - send the original birth certificate with a raised seal, along with a form for the fees and copies of parents passports (in case of minors). You will also need to provide a pre-paid return envelope with the address clearly marked - they will return the birth certificate with the apostile seal (a golden color seal) as a separate page in the envelope you provide. We (Indian citizens) hv been trying 2 get adhar 4 our US born kid(1.5 yr, US passport & birth certificate, OCI card) who is now staying in India >1yr. However, neither d local nor the regional ASK@kolkata are able 2 process d adhar. Any idea how to figure it out?
Hi Tanmay - Luckily I do, from some personal experience; I know people who actually hold Aadhaar cards in a situation same as you :) 1. "Under section 3 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016, only a resident is entitled to get Aadhaar." In your case, your son is a resident having stayed for more than a year. uidai.gov.in/images/Aadhaar_Act_2016_as_amended.pdf 2. See this that clearly mentions that this is a valid scenario for your son to get an aadhaar card being resident in India for more than 182 days. www.indiainnewyork.gov.in/index.php/pages?id=WEEvaENpL3VyK3BxTER3cTFYYVJqUT09&subid=TkxlMlU0MUpGWFdqbEM3cFNUZzhUUT09 "Aadhaar Card enrollment is presently available to residents in India. OCI Cardholders who stay in India for a long time (over 182 days in twelve months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment) and have an Indian address can also enroll for Aadhaar Card in India. NRIs, although they are citizens of India, are not eligible for Aadhaar Card if they have not stayed for more than 182 days or more in the last 12 months. Upon completion of 182 days of their stay in India in the last 12 months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment, NRIs can apply for Aadhaar Card." 3. Ideally what you need is a birth certificate (even foreign one works), your Aadhar card & a local address proof that's it ! 4. Try out at a Bank like HDFC/ BOB etc that do Aadhaar enrolments, that might work out for you instead. Try opening a new account with them as an incentive if that helps, This is what worked for others ;) 4. If your city does not allow it, whenever you travel to another city, try that out instead but you might struggle there because of lack of a local address. For that, if you can give a relatives address, get your aadhar updated first & then try there but this would be a little far stretched if you do not haver relatives outside your current city. Hope this helps & clarifies. If you are able to get through it finally, please do let us know here for the benfit of others who are sailing in the same boat as you :)

Hi Sir , thank your for the detailed information. I’m applying oci for my minor son from India - Bangalore. Could you please let me know the details for how and when to do the payment for the oci ?? Rs :15000 DD
Hi Bharat I'm an Indian citizen residing in India. I'm about to acquire US citizenship. After acquiring US citizenship, I will surrender my Indian passport, and apply for OCI, while residing in India. My question is, will I need a visa to stay in India after surrendering my Indian passport and before getting my OCI card? Or will my Indian passport be enough for staying in India for 3 months? This concerns this point in the list of required documents for applying for OCI: "In case application is submitted in India, a copy of any type of Visa (other than Missionary Visa, Tourist Visa and Mountaineering Visa)/ Residential Permit with 3 months validity as on the date of application." I do not have either a Visa for India or a Residential Permit.
Hi Sahil First of all, Congratulations on acquiring US citizenship. Second, after you acquire US citizenship, you will need an Indian Visa or OCI to legally stay in India or travel out & back in of India. So if you aren't travelling outside India and continue staying in India on your expired Indian Passport & US Passport/ Card, ideally, no one is probably going to come and question you but as soon as you plan to travel outside India & apply for other countries visa's, that could be a problem, esp. US and you wouldn't want to jeopardize the US citizen that you have presumably got post so many years :) Assuming you don't need to travel outside India to get your US passport/ Citizenship, the best would be to first apply for your Indian Visa as soon as you get your US Passport/ Citizenship (its easy, see this video that should help th-cam.com/video/8bgOcsGiYCk/w-d-xo.html ) and then apply for your OCI. However, if you need to travel outside India say to US to get your US passport & citizenship, then you would definitely need a Visa/ OCI to come back into India if your Indian passport is surrendered already. Visa is simpler & easier, you can get an E-visa even in 3-4 days as in this video th-cam.com/video/8bgOcsGiYCk/w-d-xo.html & then you can apply for the OCI from India, unless you want to stay in US for a few months (which from your question I think you dont want to) and follow the Visa/ OCI processes from there. Hope this helps !
@@BharatArora5 Hi Bharat. Thanks so much for your reply! After acquiring foreign citizenship, would I be able to apply for Indian Visa while staying in India itself -- wouldn't this be problematic since I'm in India before I got the visa? And which visa would I need to apply to?
@@BharatArora5 No, this is a bit complicated, but I'm a US citizen by descent. I only got to know of it recently. I only need to get the US passport now, which doesn't require me to travel outside of India.
@Sahil Goel See this for your reference, www.vfsglobal.com/one-pager/india/united-states-of-america/renunciation-of-indian-citizenship/#:~:text=Under%20The%20Indian%20Citizenship%20Act,after%20gaining%20another%20Country's%20nationality. I enquired and you will need to visit either the local FRRO office near you or the Indian immigration department at the nearest international airport to check what kind of visa could you apply from within India. You cannot keep dual citizenship/ both the passports. I checked with the Indian eVisa team and you cannot apply for evisa from within India. For that, you will need to travel outside India, apply for an evisa & then come back into India after getting your visa stamped.

Hi, we are registering for a new OCI. I have a doubt here and appreciate it if someone with experience can advise. 1. Do the high commission in the UK accept photos taken from photo booths with sizes mentioned as 50X50, as the OCI requirement is 51X51? 2. Hello Bharat, I need your expert advice. Our oath ceremony in Canada would be hopefully in November, 2023 and our Indian Passports would expire in December, 2023. Can we apply for OCI with an expired Indian Passports?
Passports need to be renewed first:)

Hi …thanks for this. In parental authorization form, i dont see placeholder for Minor applicant thumb print. Can you check and confirm.
You are welcome.. I am glad it helps..
I just did this process a few weeks back in Delhi and there is no requirement for minor’s thumbprint on the parental authorization.. just take a picture of thumbprint on a plain paper and upload.. Take it along with you when you visit the FRRO office..
happy to help if there are any other questions !
Hi Tanmay - Luckily I do, from some personal experience; I know people who actually hold Aadhaar cards in a situation same as you :)
1. "Under section 3 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016, only a resident is entitled to get Aadhaar." In your case, your son is a resident having stayed for more than a year.
uidai.gov.in/images/Aadhaar_Act_2016_as_amended.pdf
2. See this that clearly mentions that this is a valid scenario for your son to get an aadhaar card being resident in India for more than 182 days.
www.indiainnewyork.gov.in/index.php/pages?id=WEEvaENpL3VyK3BxTER3cTFYYVJqUT09&subid=TkxlMlU0MUpGWFdqbEM3cFNUZzhUUT09
"Aadhaar Card enrollment is presently available to residents in India. Upon completion of 182 days of their stay in India in the last 12 months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment, NRIs can apply for Aadhaar Card."
3. Ideally what you need is a birth certificate (even foreign one works), your Aadhar card & a local address proof that's it !
4. Try out at a Bank like HDFC/ BOB etc that do Aadhaar enrolments, that might work out for you instead. Try opening a new account with them as an incentive if that helps, This is what worked for others ;)
Hello Bharat. I am from South Africa. The India website says that I can apply for my card based on my spouse's OCI card . The South African website says I cannot. I cannot understand why the South African website is contradicting the India website. Can you advise ?

@@BharatArora5 Thanks. The weird thing is that one can do this in the UK and India. There should not be different rules for different countries as spouses are spouses.

Hi Bharat
I'm an Indian citizen residing in India.
Hi Sahil
First of all, Congratulations on acquiring US citizenship.
US and you wouldn't want to jeopardize the US citizen that you have presumably got post so many years :)
Assuming you don't need to travel outside India to get your US passport/ Citizenship, the best would be to first apply for your Indian Visa as soon as you get your US Passport/ Citizenship (its easy, see this video that should help th-cam.com/video/8bgOcsGiYCk/w-d-xo.html ) and then apply for your OCI.
@@sahilgoel2697 You will not be travelling (read as dont need to travel) out of India for acquiring US citizenship ?

2. If someone is unemployed, is it ok to explain in a cover letter or should we provide any documents as such? Will unemployed status impact the outcome of OCI acquisition?
3. What kind of address proof should we submit for minors?
4. Do we need to provide a minor with NOC to acquire OCI, as it's required in Canada.
Thanks in advance
