    I’ve been selling Nissans for 4 years and you did a great job. I got out of my 2020 Sentra SV premium today and got a 2022 Platinum Altima. But was considering the VC turbo. & you’re 100% correct on the way you need to roll into acceleration on the pedal and not mash it. All and all Nissan has been doing a fantastic. Job with redesigns as of late and it’s a fun time to be selling them. Excited for the Z & Ariya

    Agreed, I’d pay extra for a manual, especially on a Nissan (to avoid the cvt). Great review, Sarah, and nice of you to point out EE’s video.

      @@Barlos69 I thought that's how normal automatic transmissions shift. But cvt shouldn't really jerk. Maybe u need the belt changed? The only problem I noticed is only when driving up hill like the grapevine in california it doesn't really have a lot of power. But that's my nissan sentra 2012 with no sport mode. Other than that I love it have 250k miles on it and still drives like new.

    Sarah your suggestion about having the "option" for a manual on modern cars is right and manufacturers should listen to this suggestion in my opinion. Making driving enthusiasts happy is a win for them because enthusiasts then bring coolness to a marque and also free marketing in telling other people about their car in my opinion.

I remember driving with one of my classmates from my college I was going to and I always liked to downshift to slow the car down. Just had it done a few months ago & they said the fluid looked fine, no codes but there was a software update so they did that. Don't know what for & don't care. It still runs & shifts like new. 👍

    I am with you in regards to charging extra for a manual transmission and while Nissan is at it, throw in the AWD system available on other Altimas. As for the variable compression engine, I think that it will be cool until the car gets some real miles on it, then it will be a nightmare to repair when something goes sideways.

    I bought a 2015 Nissan in 2017 for $9K . It doesn't have a transmission only a 'reduction gear' . It gets over 100 MPG equivalency and the only time I have put gas in it was in a can . . . . ( for my lawnmower ) . And when I ' Give it the Beans ' . . . . it just silently accelerates (fast) . Have had it now over three years and the only maintenance was adding some windshield washer fluid . Oh, and 'cause I bought an EV in California I got a credit on my SDGE electric bill . . . which a year later is still at -$850.00 ! ! Yup , it's a LEAF ! And it's cute as a bug OR ugly as a frog ! ! ( I think it is 'cute' ) Am very happy with my Nissan ! !

    I bought the 2020 2.5L version last month (January 2021). It's selling point to me was............. it has an actual spare tire in the trunk. Not "run flats", not a portable air compression and a can of fix-a-flat, but a real spare tire. Plus the Platinum has front heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and safety features everywhere; the parking camera is really cool, too. Again, though............ it has an actual spare tire!
    btw: at 2:28, that's not a release lever. It's a double-ended holder (like a ship's anchor) for plastic grocery store bags so your stuff doesn't slide around in the trunk. However, there's two double-sided holders, not just one. I really like my car. I hope my comment helps others that may be on the fence with a purchase.

    The performance of modern auto xmissions is generally better than manual. Because the fuel system is now synchronized to what the transmission is doing, offering manual xmissions would mean having to change a lot more to the whole car than just the shift knob. Putting a manual xmission in many new cars would mean less performance.

    Sounds like it might've been that dreaded "turbo lag" when you gave it the beans, Sarah. Not sure personally, but that's what came to mind when you mentioned the hesitation when you launched.
    While I don't do manual transmission cars myself (I suck at shifting gears), I second your emotion there, Sarah and would go further in saying that they should offer that engine package WITH AWD, for those of us who drive in areas where it snows and rains a bunch (raises his hand).

    Between the weird unproven engine and the CVT this car is a non starter in my book. When will Nissan get it right?

    • @ColJonSquall1
      @ColJonSquall1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      probably after they realize cutting nameplates didn't solve their lack of sales figures problem and their new corporate overlords go "Uh, hey Nissan, can we make you profitable again?"

      It use to be that way here in the US. Now it’s reversed? Shame. I like driving manuals. Guess people now don’t.

    I'm definitely on the manual transmission train. Especially on Nissan vehicles. Clutch replacement is less costly.

      Yeah, sure when you dont plan to kidnap someone and dont have the foresight or the common knowledge to disable such cables. They are a nice thought, but anyone with a brain and nefarious intentions knows about them and will simply snip them at the source of release.

    If I remember correctly, BMW used to offer a manual as a no-cost option on a couple of their cars. I’d be fine with that, and might even be willing to pay a little extra for a manual. $3K is kind of high though.
