Anyone having trouble with their skybox not showing up when you compile your map, make sure to compile the skybox map separately.
Also, if you are making a counter strike map and source crashes and throws an error when you try to compile your skybox, make sure it is not named 3d_skybox because that seemed to cause errors for me. I think its because inferno has a skybox with that exact name name.

Thanks for the tutorial. Just wanna add a small thing here. If you have some hammer mesh in your 3d skybox, you'd want to lock the texture scale before you scale down.

If the scaling on the numpad isn't working for anyone try turning on Num lock. When I did that I was able to input the scale.
Also to the guy who made the video, thank you so much! I've been trying to figure out how to set up a properly scaled skybox since the bootleg tools for HLA came out.
A tip for anybody without a working/non-existent numpad you can use the on-screen keyboard built into windows to type in the numbers.

adding here that if, like me, you dont have the enter key on your numpad (im using a laptop), or you dont have a numpad at all, you cn use the keyboard on screen in windows and use the numpad there
Yes make sure you're using a US keyboard it doesn't work outside of US keyboards

I am porting portal 2 maps into source 2 and I am starting with the final map (Wheatley boss room & space cutscene) but after following this tutorial I cannot seem to get the skybox to work. can you provide any info on that because I'm stumped.
Make sure you compile the skybox separate from your main map
Well see I copy / pasted the space skybox into a separate map and then I set the skybox reference to that plus I compiled it separately and followed everything but it is still just the default 2d skybox@@eagleonedevelopmentteam849
How to preview the 3d skybox at the main map? Its not showing in Hammer, only after compiling

how come my shadows are a dark and harsh black on the 3d skybox? how can I fix this.

The skybox shows up in the editor, but when I try to build my map it's nowhere to be seen. Does anyone know what's causing this?
Compile the skybox map. Its separate from the main map
Is it possible to have things in the skybox move or animated or interactive? Say I push a button in the main map and it destroys a building in the skybox?
yes you can send commands that reference other vmaps

@@depholade Unfortunately no since it was purely for HLA which uses its own logic and our team doesn't create for that platform anymore. We've moved onto s&box

mine doesn't show up in cs2, it does however shop up in the hammer editor.

Can we port our maps that we created into s&box when it comes out? Also should i texture my map now or not cause s&box wont have hl alyx and steamvr assets.
You can port them over easy with mass retexturing worst case scenario

The S2 wiki has not been very accurate
