Too bad that economy in my country is so crappy that the price of almost all arcade stick is usually like... a half of the salary usually people get. I managed to buy Fighting Stick mini 4 only because it was much cheaper, It does the job well, but I wish I could buy myself the "full sized" stick.
philippe jara same here in Canada i just got the same hori mini he has because thats what i can afford and it's my first stick so i would rather learn on something cheap then get something more expensive later down the road
Okay first of all, there is no such thing as a RAP 5. A lot of ppl are confused that the V signifies 5, ala Latin numbering. That is wrong. The V in the RAP V stands for Viewlix. This RAPV has the Viewlix layout, so that's what the V stands for. There is also a RAP N and that stands for the Noir layout (check the Hayabusa Pro N and T7 Hori stick for reference). The ONLY numbered stick from Hori is from the Kai line. As of now, they have not announced a RAP 5 Kai yet.
I instinctively let out a little scream (for lack of a better word) whenyou decided to put and slide your old stick on your freshly unpacked, shiny remu stck at 7:06. WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!
After looking at all the videos with the victrix pro and the amount of arcade sticks you've accumulated I feel this was the beginning of your descent into madness :P
Is that the Hori RAP 4 or V? What's the difference between the 2? I'm deciding on one of these and the RAP N which should be out soon where I am, though the only difference I'm seeing (without trying out any of them) is the box for yours has a slight angle at the front, where as the RAP N doesn't (shape like a trapezoid), how does your hand feel after playing this version for an extended period of time, like an hour?
May buy this in the future (or whatever the newer version is as I am 3 years too late lol) Just got the Hori mini fighting stick so I've been having fun with that
Money has always been super tight for me and I've never been SUPER into fighting games that I felt I needed an arcade stick, although I've always wanted one. All the friends I've spoken to about arcade sticks tell me those mini-style sticks or anything less than 100 bucks isn't really worth it. Anyway, this video has given me some ideas of what I'd like to shoot for someday and I can use that stick as reference of size, shape, and other features for when I decide to get one myself. Nice video, very cool, cheers~
Making your own is quite affordable these days, you can buy a reliable low-end stick and upgrade it for pretty cheap. Youll have to do to lil bit of research and maybe even a youtube tutorial about switching out parts but its actually pretty fun and easy. Considering the age of this post maybe you already did! Cheers!
I can see why you have so many true subscriber's, you're just so natural. Nice. Just as I'm writing this you brought the joystick out of the box , wow..
Nice review, the stick looks great! It seems like really good value. Personally I wouldn't bother with an octagon gate, the square gate is standard even on the Madcatz TE2 tournament sticks and works just fine. Anyone struggling with light weight sticks could always velcro it the the table lol
I am using the horii slient with Hayabusa optical stick in which there will not be clicking sound when you move the stick and kuro button which there is a sponge thing inside the switch to eliminate the plasticky sound.
We own a pair of Tatsunoko vs Capcom sticks from MadCatz and modded them with official Sanwa parts (they originally came with clone parts). Since they're technically Wii Classic Controllers, they work great on most games on the NES Classic. :)
I just got my HORI Fighting Stick Mini 4 a couple of days ago and I LOVE it. Already almost as good at Third Strike as I was on Keyboard, and I am definitely better than with controller already. It also doesn't shift around on my desk. Got it for 43 dollars as a Christmas present for myself. I was wondering if you know how to make and put your own art on it because I love drawing to and would maybe like to put some art on it.
You are without a doubt one of my favourite TH-camrs. There are other TH-camrs that I watch more often but when you do make a video that appeals to me I'm always delighted to watch. always entertaining and very informative.
What is a good budgeted stick that doesnt cost an arm and a leg that has good performance and works well with most games? Are wireless ones less effective then a corded one?
Depends on your budget, but the Mayflash F500 is considered to be very good for the price (90$ ish and very easy to mod) and you probably want a corded, I haven`t seen a wireless without inpunt lag, but if you google maybe you can find one.
Been planning on building my own, I really don't much like the Sanwa buttons so I'm using the Happs buttons which feel more nostalgic to me. Stick wise i may use the Sanwa with an octagon gate though I'll keep doing my research on those. for the casing, probably solid oak.
I'm looking into building my own as well! I'm not sure what kind of casing, but I'm going for a bat styled top, Seimitsu buttons and custom artwork, probably related to one of my favorite games.
Oh boy. I am in a fighting stick marathon search. I need a big one and heavy in order not to move when I have it in my legs. Still, most of them are a bit expensive. Lets rock.
I have a gamut of sticks that range from the Agetec Dreamcast joysticks (repurposed cases with all-new parts including replacement PCB's) to the Hori VLX (Blue Taito, PS3 edition). I've used the VLX the least out of all the joysticks. I probably play with the Agetecs the most and they're about 2/3 to 3/4 the size of the Mad Catz TE/Rd 1 and the HRAP 2/3 cases. They have a decent heft to them and that's partly the base plate and being equipped with parts (the joystick lever adds significant mass but no question the baseplate metal adds the most heft). The Agetec is still big enough for 30mm buttons and has the ability to mount all major Seimitu levers, the Sanwa JLF, and Hori Hayabusa with space to spare for any replacement PCB (the Brooks and Cthulu boards fit in nicely into the Agetec case with very little plastic cutting if any really needed for those.. You do have to drill in holes in the back or side to fit in dedicated24mm pushbuttons but can repurpose the original START button on the Agetec (which has a reuseable switch and signal wires) for Start, Select, or whatever you want. I use my Agetec Start button to activate an LED circuit to illuminate plexi character/symbol art in the VMU slot cutout since I don't use VMU-compatible PCB's in the Agetec's anymore... The Agetec also has more separation between the lever and buttons. The other joystick that probably comes closest to that separation is the HRAP N (Hori Soul Calibur V PS3 edition in my case) and that still isn't quite as wide a separation. I prefer the button configuration of the HRAP 2/3 and the HRAP N (the Sega and Noir button layouts are more ergonomic than the Viewlix layout everybody seems to be gaga about) but the Agetec has more space between the lever and pushbuttons (and the Agetec buttons are arranged like a six-button Viewlix configuration). The Agetec "Green Goblin" (well, no longer "Green" because I threw out the green buttons! LOL) doesn't feel as cramped as the typical joystick layout today which has the controls clustered TOO close together IMHO.
Does the bigger arcade joystick give you more advantage than the mini arcade sticks in terms of the stick motions? I heard he says that the mini hori stick is a bit stiffer? so stiff is better or the non stiff?
its really the preference. The Te Stick ive had the bigger makes sit on my lap better and also it does not move around alot... also that and it helps with it taking a lot of wear and tear.
Necessarily, yes. Because larger ones are more comfortable and more sturdy and solid and stay in place, also can be modified like Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai/V/N Hayabusa which I do think the name comes from maybe a DOA character or it was HORI’s original name for the Arcade Sticks, whichever one it was. MadCatz too looks awesome, sadly they are dead, wish they were back in business or revived. Qanba and Razer look good too. Customized arcade sticks featuring Calvin and Hobbes or Rick and Morty or maybe Regular Show or Adventure Time or even Ed Edd n Eddy would look freakin’ awesome regardless of product. You can customize panels at Focus Attack.
However, the VLX is way too big for me even though I like the red colour scheme to it. Rather be something for a display like to make your television or monitor to be displayed like an arcade cabinet and you connect your PS3 or PS4 which do have a lot of fighting games for it, especially on PS2 and 1, use your Brook adapter on PS2/1 or Dreamcast or even Neo-Geo! Or download PS1 and 2 games on your PS3, I wish it was the same for PS4.
I got the small stick that you have and I cannot get used to it because it moves around when I try to play . It's my first time getting one. Any tips ?
Was watching another video of the Hori Real Arcade Pro Tekken 7 Arcade Stick and saw it when pushed in it extends further. Say pushed up or down it continues past where it is supposed to stop. Does this one suffer the same defect?
i think that is the Hori rap V i don't think they put the PC slider in until the V model. I have the V which i heard was V and not 5 it doesn't really matter now but it might if they make a rap5. That's some cool artwork though, it makes me sad to know that i cant get it in the states.
I have the fighting stick mini 4 and i really dont have to hold it down. I dont use it on my lap, but on a table. I like the button size and the spacing. I'll build a custom one eventually but i like the small stick for now.
Cool ULiL Hori stick. Much envy. Actually, I just ordered my first stick today (Hori RAP 4, as heavily recommended). If I ever mod it, it is very likely to be Touhou themed (like this one).
i haven't had much trouble with my little cheap hori stick that you mentioned and at 35 dollars it is a hell of a deal for me just playing casually of course that larger one would be very nice!
I ended up getting that hori mini because I hadn't played for a few years and I didn't have a stick anymore because I'm old now. That thing is hard to beat for 50 bucks. I don't really have an issue with it sliding around on me but I've also had it for about six or seven months now. I was surprised that the quality for how tiny it was
What do you think of the mini? I got it as my first ever stick. (the only game I played on arcade in my life was Tekken, and I hated it because the buttons were hard to press, let alone two at a time) I'm really liking the control upgrade but I think it's time to get something that looks nicer. I've not experienced having to hold the stick down, the weight of my arms seems to do the job. Did you find any other issues with this one compared to more expensive ones?
The hori fighting stick mini 4 was really cool at first but it’s really light and the parts seem to wear down quickly even without aggressive use so if ur getting into FGs more then probably would be nice to get urself a more reliable stick
@@NihongoGamer thanks for that advice. Sorry to bother you again, but is there a brand you prefer? I quite like Hori for other devices, and I heard Mad Catz used to make good sticks
Cool, I have a Hori Wireless fightstick (Tekken 6 limited edition that came in for the 2009 limited edition Tekken 6 package) and a Hori RAP V3-SA fightstick. Their good for tournaments but for casual time, my the wirekess one is my goto stick. You got there a pretty nice fightstick dude. Fun fact, you could also connect that to an android tablet with an otg usb port. Btw, if you want to do the small jumps aka the short hops, just tap quickly up or diagonally if you want to short hop diagonally.
so, octo gate(8 way gate), vs square gate(4 way gate) you can buy restrictor plates for the stick itself, all stick companies make different restricter plates.
Hello! Is the QanBa Q4 RAF S3 a good stick? I want to buy my first arcade stick and found this one on discount (68€). Is it a good price and is it better than the Droid? Thank you so much!
its not the stick that is square or not but there is a little frame around it which guides the stick (forgot the actual name of that part) but you can switch this out on basically any arcadestick..
VERY NICE SIR. can i play arcade stick with games download from internet like kof? because i don't have disc game you showed. can it connect to PC with games i downloaded sir?
I don't have one... But I'm thinking of getting one. I've been using controller on Xbox and I'm starting to notice the limitations. Any suggestions for Xbox... And when I get said piece of equipment, should I upgrade any pieces?
Good video, thanks for going so in-depth and not leaving any details! Also thank you for zooming in on the things you were talking about, clearly showing them in front of the camera and with the focus well set! That said, you managed to trigger me more than the buttons on your arcade stick, I mean come on: NG: "It's hard to get by the box" Me: "Didn't seem hard to me, order more stuff and learn how to unbox" NG: "With this character... Dunno which this is" Me: "Gaming with a character you don't know is like wearing a band shirt of a band you don't know, please **** off!" (Reimu from Touhou btw, and I'm not even that much of a weeb) NG: "Dunno if this is version 4 or 5..." Me: "Didn't you do your research? Or y'know? Check the box?!" NG: "It uses XInput, whatever that is..." Me: "WTH DO YOUR FREAKING RESEARCH?!" (and learn that XInput makes no difference for fighting games, they I have yet to encounter a fighting game that doesn't support DInput) NG: "It's meant for this game, I'm not sure if I ever *will* play this game" Me: assumes you paid unnecessarily extra for some branded controller NG: "A lot of people have been saying this is a square shaped stick, which I think is..." Me: "STOP THINKING START RESEARCHING?!" (it means that it goes further into the diagonal axis, like a square from the middle, rather than maintaining the length for the diagonal axis like an octagon) *DISCLAIMER* I really liked the video nonetheless!
ds4 to xinput (wrong software gives you viruses btw) is the name of the software but if u use steam for all your games then add non steam games to the libary and then activate the ps3 / 4 controller function in big picture controller settings (works also for xbox controller) so that you can (re-)map all the buttons. Never tried an arcade stick only ps4 ones and it's simple to me.
I have been watching fighting stick videos and watched you're older video about it and i bought it and it was a great experience. And now on August im gonna Buy The Hori Rap 4 is it worth upgrading or another kind of stick is better ?
Glad you into a fighting game. There a lot of tekken and kof pro player in Japan. Hope one day you can invite one of them into your channel for sparring or just for some coffe.
I already have a dual arcade with trackball on it. But I thought of getting a Hori mini just for travel. I know it's not the full arcade experience I get at home but it's the perfect size for traveling and it's durable enough. I just don't think hauling around a drone or a full size fight stick makes sense for a carry on bag. The Hori mini is the perfect size.
I started randomly watching tekken 7 tournaments on TH-cam when the game came out, haven't played tekken since tekken 3 mind you, and I fell in love. Picked it up, love it. Favorite fighting game. At work I continue watching tournaments, and now I'm looking into getting an arcade stick. Is this pro 4 a good stick? A lot of people at tournaments have custom built sticks from jasenscustomes

Urban Legend in Limbo is sick asf and everyone should play it
I actually just got the game this stick is themed with on my recent trip to Japan. It's a lot of fun and not expensive at Yodobashi Camera.
Can't wait to see you try out tekken 7! It's been my favorite fighting game this year!
Hello! Is the QanBa Q4 RAF S3 a good stick? I want to buy my first arcade stick and found this one on discount (68€). Is it a good price and is it better than the Droid? Thank you so much!
What does your shirt say and where is it from?
its not the stick that is square or not but there is a little frame around it which guides the stick (forgot the actual name of that part) but you can switch this out on basically any arcadestick..
Where can I get this from, if am not in Japan! Love it. Sturdy and bigger so good on my lap!
Your videos are really awesome!
Do you have any recommendations on a beginner but good fighting stick for PS4???
I also got the Hori RAP V, they're really nice sticks. :) Love your videos!
There are like 0 unboxing of this remui stick and is very hard to come across nowadays
Now Im excited for my Hori Tekken 7 stick. It just shipped from japan this morning so I will get it Monday.
what's your sfv id? would love to get some matches in!
do you mind if i ask for the link of the sale?, i´m really interested in that stick... ty in advance, nice videos btw.
Does this arcade stick work on PC aswell or is it only a ps4/ps3 only joystick?
Looks nice! That’s a good shade of red
That arcade stick is so beautiful! 😍
Trying to do Vice's in air super with a 360 d-pad is in itself, a form of gambling. I feel like I need some form of a stick.
Hi, can you use this for pc gaming or retropie gaming?
Could you get any arcade stick with USB and use a USB C converter and use it on the switch ?
yes
i still use my street fighter x tekken stick, square gates are pretty common i've gotten so use to it i forgot octagonal existed
Good video, thanks for going so in-depth and not leaving any details! Also thank you for zooming in on the things you were talking about, clearly showing them in front of the camera and with the focus well set!
That said, you managed to trigger me more than the buttons on your arcade stick, I mean come on:
NG: "It's hard to get by the box"
Me: "Didn't seem hard to me, order more stuff and learn how to unbox"
NG: "With this character... Dunno which this is"
Me: "Gaming with a character you don't know is like wearing a band shirt of a band you don't know, please **** off!"
(Reimu from Touhou btw, and I'm not even that much of a weeb)
NG: "Dunno if this is version 4 or 5..."
Me: "Didn't you do your research? Or y'know? Check the box?!"
NG: "It uses XInput, whatever that is..."
Me: "WTH DO YOUR FREAKING RESEARCH?!"
(and learn that XInput makes no difference for fighting games, they I have yet to encounter a fighting game that doesn't support DInput)
NG: "It's meant for this game, I'm not sure if I ever *will* play this game"
Me: assumes you paid unnecessarily extra for some branded controller
NG: "A lot of people have been saying this is a square shaped stick, which I think is..."
Me: "STOP THINKING START RESEARCHING?!"
(it means that it goes further into the diagonal axis, like a square from the middle, rather than maintaining the length for the diagonal axis like an octagon)
*DISCLAIMER* I really liked the video nonetheless!
That is why I am building my own, I need a really big arcade stick since my hands are big.
does it work on switch? just wondering because of the usb cable
For Hori, $50 for a mini one is not bad it’s actually the same size as Neo Geo stick
ds4 to xinput (wrong software gives you viruses btw) is the name of the software but if u use steam for all your games then add non steam games to the libary and then activate the ps3 / 4 controller function in big picture controller settings (works also for xbox controller) so that you can (re-)map all the buttons. Never tried an arcade stick only ps4 ones and it's simple to me.
Where’s can I buy this stick guys, with the artwork? Does anyone know
I have been watching fighting stick videos and watched you're older video about it and i bought it and it was a great experience. And now on August im gonna Buy The Hori Rap 4 is it worth upgrading or another kind of stick is better ?
Are kuro buttons good for begginers?
Does this have a built in restrictor?
That was the first game I booted up when I got the stick too! Still haven’t booted up Tekken yet lmao
Something about watching Nihongogamer's videos are relaxing. Particularly while he makes coffee.
Beautiful stick. It's better for way more than just being bigger. Enjoy.
Glad you into a fighting game. There a lot of tekken and kof pro player in Japan.
Hope one day you can invite one of them into your channel for sparring or just for some coffe.
That arcade stick is gorgeous! Very cool. 🔥🎮
Hi lovely people if i have a hori rap v3 SA is it compatible in ps4? Does the legacy mode is compatible with the rap v3 ? Thank you :)
Where did you buy this?
first time watching your videos I got to you cause I'm buying one this month and your video is accurate
