Gonna be 40yrs old this year and I've been a member of the fgc since the sfII arcade days. I grew up NYC so the arcade scene is where my heart's at. I got into being a stick player since the Saturn days and I haven't looked back....but since last year I got hard into stick culture as far as modding and customizing. Little did I know how deep the rabbit hole goes. I'm a novice when it comes to modding....but I love it. Whenever I get a new console... I buy a new stick for it.
Same here. I love fighters, shmups and beat em ups. Pretty much all the arcade genres and have to play on stick. I miss the days of Mad Ctaz. They were kick ass with their stuff. I'm currently on a Hori and love Hori too.
you are a legend dude...definitely one of the few that got me to love fighting games even though I'm not the best or nowhere near it fighting games will always be in my top 3 genres...keep doing you man and good luck with your future projects.
Check out the extended version that was made for Chrono Resurrection, the new arrangement for Chrono Cinematica, or the Chrono Trigger metal medley by Power Glove.
I just got a MayFlash F300, love it! It's my first arcade stick, always used controllers on fighting games for years but been wanting to learn on arcade sticks for years, finally gave in and bought one. Planning on collecting sticks for the foreseeable future!
I got the Hitbox, the CrossUp, the Vewlix, the Obsidian, the Victrix, and the MAS of those that you showed. Plenty of others too of course because im one of those collector-freaks and love varying up how I play between different layouts and feels of the bunch that I own, although my go-to for playing on my big tv is the Vewlix and my go-to for sitting at my gaming monitor setup is the Victrix. Great vid.
I kinda lucked grabbing a 8 button MAS stick on a whim at a garage sale maybe 4 months for only $20 not knowing what exactly it was. Needless to say, after researching it's astounding history I will be restoring it to it's former glory and probably keep for my personal collection.
I've been using the Victrix for a little under 2 years now. My palms get so sweaty, I made a "white hot palm" imprint on the aircraft aluminum coating. Lol.
I only have six sticks personally but my favourite is MadCatz SF x Tekken Arcade Fightstick V.S. Edition (PS3/360). Massive area for your hands, amazing build-quality and a real heavyweight, which I love. Feels like something ripped from a real arcade cab
Hey awesome collection of fight sticks Justin and great reviews dude. I actually still own the Capcom-style MAS stick for ps2 from AS from a while back.
That etokki is so nice. I would need something heavy as well but I'm so used to controllers. Honestly my street fighter game is out dated and full of flaws. I have a lot of work to do to get back in shape. This was dope though Justin.
What I'll say about the Victrix and other heavy box sticks is that before you buy one make sure you understand what your getting. Most heavy sticks are anywhere from 16-18 inches wide, weigh around 10-13lbs, and are very tall on your lap. That makes them really unfortunate for travel and storage. However the added weight and size makes them incredibly comfortable for long sessions or labbing. The Victrix also only comes in 4-5 pre-lazer engraved SF designs (All but a couple designs sold out) or a grey non engraved. The biggest thing is to consider the parts. The Vixtrix also comes with Sanwa buttons and a detachable JLF stick. Which cost less than 100$ in total. The actual parts you use to play are pretty much the same ones you find in everything so really ask yourself if this is worth 400$ just for a pretty stick.
The theme on your VLX Diamond is taken from the Taito VEWLIX Diamond cabinet. It has the same color theme as on yours. All different VEWLIX models are F (white sides, black metal parts) L (All black) C (Capcom cabinet, red sides, black metal parts) D (diamond which has the same colors as on your stick) DB (Diamond Black. Black everywhere except the wrist rest has a similar metallic look as the regular Diamond) There are VLX arcade stick versions of the F and D for PS3+PC and C and L for PS3+PS4+PC
This was a cool video. I have one stick and I use a Brook Converter and it works great. I was thinking of getting another stick so I can have one for both XB and PS but I ended up sticking with the Brook Converter because it hasn't given me any problems and works pretty good.
Had a MAS purchased from arcade shock back in 2011. Came broken, they had me send back for repairs, never got it back. They also never refunded my money. Ignored all attempts to contact as well.
I just have a Hori RAP 4. I ended up switching out the Hayabusa stick and buttons for Sanwa -- not because they were bad or anything, I just ended up liking the feel of the Sanwa parts better. I also went with an octo-gate instead of the standard square one.
The MAS stick is easy to replicate if you can't find one. All it is are pieces of 3/4 in MDF which you can just size and cut, drill holes for panel, put it together and install a brook board.
You cant recreate the joystick that comes with them tho, i don't think they exist anymore but i could be wrong. I just bought mine for super cheap a couple weeks ago tho, will never use another stick if i have the option to use my MAS.
@@justincredible1593 Same brand IL they make buttons too. They are also the original manufacturer of all the American arcade parts back in the day. You can find them at focus attack.com and paradise arcade.com
A lot of these sticks look awesome. I wonder if Justin modifies his fightsticks at all, like swapping the buttons, gate, springs, or what not. Or whether he just uses them stock.
Thank you, I was wondering if there were any sticks that have the movement buttons on the right side instead of the left? The my box looked great but I'd need to flip it
You’re such a brilliant player. Been following your career for years. Big fan, Justin. Really big fan. I have a number of sticks myself. Some are customized sticks, others are straight MadCatz sticks from the PS3/360 era. Just got the EGO and I do like it, even though you have to plug in a controller from your respective system to use it. But being able to use it on any system makes it worth that caveat to me. Thinking of modding it further, but I don’t know to what extent. Just a question… What are your thoughts on HAPP joystick/buttons and American style layout? I really like it a lot. It’s neck and neck with my Seimitsu stick/Sanwa buttons in the Japanese layout. I just like to have variety. Now following. Thanks for the great video. Some interesting sticks to look at in the future. Oh yeah, LOVE the Chrono Trigger music.
Jesus Christ.. i wish i could still buy a mas stick. Love how the buttons are aligned like in the arcades. And the bat top looks springy as hell too. Is there anything remotely like that anymore?
Good gosh. The Vewlix really looks like it was pulled from an arcade cabinet. Still my favorite stick of all time, outside the sick custom Qbee joystick
I own the PS2 Tekken 4 HORI Arcade Stick and the PS5 SF6 HORI Arcade Stick Alpha. I'm going to buy the HORI Fighting Edge if possible and the etokki looks solid too, thanks! i
RIP Mad Catz. Thanks for the review. Thumbs up. The Etokki (7lbs.) looks nice. I don't like the sticks with the square gait. Circle gait seems to be better for pulling off 360/720 moves. I notice some sticks don't have much palm rest for long game play. Seems the manufacture could be cutting players short.
