Hey Ya'll what a great reaction, I loved all your smiles and gyrations. Your happiness literally poured out of my computer. I hoped you would enjoy it. One of my favorite songs. The combination of Maurice White's rich voice and Phillip Bailey's falsetto just kills me. Then you add the rhythm track with Verdine White on bass, then the drums and horns. It is a sure fire soul casserole. I hope your friend Andres enjoys it too. Happy Thanksgiving my friends and to all the other NicknLex fans. ❤❤
Isn't this such a great song? From the outstanding EW&F album "Gratitude," a combo of live performances and studio tracks. For yet another incredible jazz-soul tune, check out "Sun Goddess," in which Earth, Wind & Fire teamed up with jazz artist Ramsey Lewis (1975) for a superb, jaw-dropping jazz-soul-funk classic.
Earth Wind & Fire and Steely Dan are 2 groups who's musicianship is unmatched! Neither group has a bad song! You're barely scratching the surface with EWF!
This is one of my favorite EWF songs. One thing about EWF is that they paint a soundscape and take you to the mood & emotion from the first note. It's a musical tsunami.
Love love love EWF. Maurice White was a genius. I love their harmonies. You should check out Imagination from their Spirit album. It's just a gorgeous ballad. Incredible harmonies at the end. Phillip Bailey's falsetto is positively operatic.
Gratitude is an absolutely great album. Do yourself a favor and listen to the entire album from start to finish. The 70s had great soul music. EWF was at the forefront with other great groups.
Try reacting to Sun Goddess from the same record. EWF were Ramsey Lewis' backing band when he first recorded it, then they went on to do their own version on Gratitude. Sublime jazz/funk.
😂GREAT REACTION!!!😂 have seen Earth Wind & Fire 🔥 5 times in concert. The band never pause in their music on stage. Never!!! Lol Every song whether slow or fast carries over to the next song. Yeah....This song is a Masterpiece! And this song is one of my all-time favorite songs from the band. Also, "Write a song of Love, " is another great song to react to. Check that song out too.😊
The Elements at their best! I have this album and loved it ever since 1975 when it was released. To hear them both live and in the studio on this one was/is breathtaking. What a great year in music!
- had a friend tell me that he went to an Earth, Wind & Fire concert back in 1977 ...and as to saying they were phenomenal ,even though he could only remember half of it
This is an all-time classic! For a few years EWF were on another level, the greatest R&B band ever. I've been listening to them nearly 40 years and their music from the 70s never ceases to inspire me. If you haven't already done so, I recommend reacting to 'Be Ever Wonderful' from their 1977 iconic album All 'n All - it's a jammer, one of my favourites and hugely underrated. Love & peace to all EWF fans from Cornwall, UK 🇬🇧
Those 4 ascending brass notes right out of the gate, just grabs you. Nick and Lex, I believe I have been lobbying for this song to whoever would listen. I couldn’t be happier that it’s you two who are finally hitting it and enjoying it so much! So catchy, soulful, groovy and you can’t help but smile! Yup. 6 months ago when I commented on your EW&F marathon with Shining Star.😉
The drummer, bassist, and lead singer are brothers. The founder and lead singer Maurice White was the drummer for the Ramsey Lewis Trio in the 60's and played on hits for other artists before he started EW&F.Their brother Fred White was supposed to start with the band on drums when he got out of high school but was asked to go on tour with Donny Hathaway.Their back up vocalist Ralph Johnson is also a professional drummer so he played on their early stuff until fred came back from the tour.Even their back up vocalist who sings falsetto Philip Bailey is a drummer. He's the one who did Easy Lover with Phil Collins.
My all time favorite band. I feel so lucky to be old enough to have grown up hearing great bands like this in various genres on the radio in the 70s. Great reaction guys!
Wondered when you two would stumble across these geniuses. Their music was always, always positive. So. Much. Energy. Skill, EMotion, Love. I am grateful for them. Respect to Maurice White! Loved your recent recreation of your wedding "NicknLex: CoolnAdorable".
That soul, that smooth groove ~. And what about those vocals, those riffs, and that killer bass??! The horns, man…. Everything about Earth Wind & Fire is just perfection! Another stellar band, Steely Dan. Those were the days ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If would love for you both to listen to Swedish trio Dirty Loops, another jazz/soul/RnB and pop fusion outfit, who are often likened to EW&F and Steely Dan. Killer bass, vocals, harmonies and drumming. I’m sure you both would be blown away by their brilliant and original take on music 🔥 Loved your reaction and analysis, it’s a real pleasure to listen to music with both of you xx Some Dirty Loops links below ☺️🙏👍
Alexia loves those horns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These guys are the same horns on some Genesis and Phil Collins tracks.👍 Known as 'The Phenix Horns' on Phil Collins tracks.
This 1975 song by Earth, Wind & Fire on the Columbia Records Label was written by Skip Scarborough and Engineered By George Massenburg and produced By the late Maurice White and the late Charles Stepney
Wonderful, wonderful, groovalicious song! Best outro ever too!! Thanks, Scott for this great pick, and Alexia and Nick for your contagious enthusiasm! And happy belated Thanksgiving to all! 🎵❤️🦃🎵 Debbie
I saw thr EWF/Lionel tour in my town. Still going strong after 50 years! If you like this one, you may also like Tower of Power's "You're Still A Young Man" from their Live In Living Color" album (my preference). Cheers!
So much fun watching and listening to you enjoy EWF. They are truly an exceptionally gifted band. In concert they are (or were at least when I saw them) a party. Keep listening because they have a ton of incredibly great music!!!
I grew up to this band considered THE GREATEST Soul R&B Group EVER...!! Maurice White, Phillip Bailey, Larry Dunn, Verdine White were the core members. The sound was Maurice White's vision to bring Positive, Happy Music for the Soul. Maurice was not only a great singer, but also a great Composer, Showman. Peace from the SF Bay Area CAli. 2/28/24
I liked how you are “finding new things” when at the same time, this very song is a song from my teens in the 1970’s that I just LOVED. ❤ Made me feel like I was in love
If you're new to EW&F, you have only just begun. I wish I was in your positions where I've just heard them myself because then my mind would be blown all over again. Definitely keep reacting to EW&F. You'll see just how complete of a band they are.
Great song (maybe not the best) from Earth Wind and fire, I almost forgot about among so many they have written, what à funk groove! It gave you joy, energy and smile as it had to me. Thanks for this day listening together! 😏🙏
Maurice...he really didn't want to be a lead singer of the group in the beginning. This from the Gratitude 1975 album. Earth, Wind, and Fire still kicking it today in their live shows fortunately for me seeing them live for 5 decades!! Earth, Wind, and Fire with Chicago collaboration is HEAVEN!!
That entire album is a masterpiece. Every single song on it is a masterpiece. And it is not their only one. What label did they come out out of? Of course...Motown!! I don't think people appreciate not only the all time great artists that came out of Motown but the incredible list all time great ALBUMS that came from artists while with Motown. You guys could easily do an entire series of just classic Motown artist ALBUMS and go for daaaays. How many classic ALBUMS has artists like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, The Commodores, Lionel Ritchie, The Jackson 5, Rick James, Debarge...and on and on. I mean, did you know that even Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were on Motown? You could even go more current with Erykah Badu, India Arie, Damien Marley.... It's just endless
During their heyday, EWF had 13 members. For the best EWF covers on the planet, chech out videos of the Russian group, Leonid and Friends. They do several EWF tunes in studio. Fantasy, September, After the Love is Gone and EWF's version of Got to Get you into My life, almost spot on. EWF's music still lives on!
You need to see EWF (and Lionel Ritchie) regardless of the venue! They are priceless to experience live (surrounded by us old folks singing our hearts out).
EWF started this song with some interesting syncopation, but they managed to carry it throughout the entire song. That's something you rarely see. And it's done to perfection.
Please listen to "That's The Way Of The World". This is an absolute gem. It's got the soul, the vibe and it just makes you feel soooo good! What's more, Pat Metheny chose it to play it before the shows in the 90-ies to tune in. After having heard it you willa know why...
Check out the killer female version from J.P. Morgan produced with the cream of West Coast jazz musicians and a very early production from David Foster back in 1976. A great version also exists from the Swedish group The Gimmicks that is worth investigating, also from 1976....Mark GV - Reference Point
The last minute and 15 seconds of the song with them just harmonizing..............absolutely destroyed any song thats came out in the last 15 years. And they did it without saying a freaking word.
But almost half of Earth wind and fire members have sadly passed away so you would have experienced a better concert during their younger years. Especially since the leader and vocalist Maurice White passed away about a decade ago. But they are a legendary band still.

All the beginning y their tunes the horns and bass and drum wow
I concur. Love both bands
In my opinion, one of the greatest groups of ALL TIME!
Best harmonies of all. This is the best.

Earth Wind & Fire and Steely Dan are 2 groups who's musicianship is unmatched! Neither group has a bad song! You're barely scratching the surface with EWF!
My 2 favorite groups for obvious reasons. I just never get tired of listening to them.
My two favorites are Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan/ But I grew up on EWF as well, I'm 64, and started listening to all them in my mid teen,s!!
But Nick how can you listen to 😂Metallica and Iron Maiden etc, metal music is so Contrived?? With no grooves or harmony??
@williamflinchum-qo6ch 64 here also. EWF, Steely Dan, PFunk are my favorites. EWF for the win, however!!
PEG!!!
This is one of my favorite EWF songs. One thing about EWF is that they paint a soundscape and take you to the mood & emotion from the first note. It's a musical tsunami.
Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire just announced a new tour together! Not all the original members of course, but still … wow.
WOW Indeed!
Groovy! This is a great song. Love the reaction from you both.
You can't hide love.
It may be painful or even torture.
Everybody needs love.
Love love love EWF. Maurice White was a genius. I love their harmonies. You should check out Imagination from their Spirit album. It's just a gorgeous ballad. Incredible harmonies at the end. Phillip Bailey's falsetto is positively operatic.

EWF never fails to deliver! I loved this in my grad year class of 75!
This was a great college dorm party slow jam back in the day. Brings back memories.
Try reacting to Sun Goddess from the same record. EWF were Ramsey Lewis' backing band when he first recorded it, then they went on to do their own version on Gratitude. Sublime jazz/funk.
This is one of the greatest songs EWF ever made and they made a few. Glad to see your reactions and hear your commentary. All the best. 💝
Hey Nick and Lex... I recommend 2 songs from the SPIRIT LP. "Imagination" and "On Your Face"
😂GREAT REACTION!!!😂 have seen Earth Wind & Fire 🔥 5 times in concert. The band never pause in their music on stage. Never!!! Lol Every song whether slow or fast carries over to the next song. - had a friend tell me that he went to an Earth, Wind & Fire concert back in 1977 ...and as to saying they were phenomenal ,even though he could only remember half of it
Maurice white and Phil Bailey are two of the best vocalist of all time I stand on that
INDEED
Always loved the ending section...
Me too!

Fusion jazz guitarist John Tropea does a magnificent instrumental version of this tune off his late 70s album Short Trip To Space
The music of my young life. Priceless
Absolutely A Wonderful Brilliant Band 🤩🙏🙌

I have EW&F on my main play list, haven't listened to it in a while, but still lovin' it.

Yes someone else that hears this song the way I hear it this song! Best lyric YOU CAN’T GIVE WHAT YOU NEVER HAD!
Your favorite group's favorite group. So many artists used these musicians on their albums.
The drums were performed by Maurice White, who also sang the main lead vocal part.

For some reason, their entire Albums are not represented properly.
More than a singles/ hits group.
Legendary Band!
The last minute and 15 seconds of the song with them just harmonizing..............absolutely destroyed any song thats came out in the last 15 years.
And they did it without saying a freaking word.
Earth wind and fire, la mejor banda con Maurice White the best.
Earth Wind and Fire have a song called Earth Wind and Fire, you should check it out.
And this is a cover
Maurice White added so much to the EWF version the main lyrics it's hard to tell they are same song
hey where are you guys from? love the reaction! EWF my favorite group.

But almost half of Earth wind and fire members have sadly passed away so you would have experienced a better concert during their younger years. Especially since the leader and vocalist Maurice White passed away about a decade ago. But they are a legendary band still.
So blown away by the music, you missed the lyric!!! Some great songwriting
