DownTownRobj PFunk is just that. A funk band. Legendary no doubt but pure funk none the less. Show me how well PFunk sounds with Ramsey Lewis. Or just some jazz music in general. How about some soul music. Gimme a PFunk joint that’s as good as Reasons or I’ll Write a Song For You. See, EWF has made classic Funk joints. But they’ve also made classic jazz joints, disco joints and ballads as well. A well rounded machine. The greatest band ever. Not to mention they’re still going. RIP Maurice.

The That's The Way of The World album was an unexpected MONSTER hit. It came out in the spring of 1975. The record company (Columbia) wanted another album FAST.
This album came out in the fall of '75. 2 LP''s. One live (check out Sun Goddess). The other was a studio album of new songs. Like Cant Hide Love and Sing a Song.
This album was a smash. Not as big as "World" but a smash.
From 1975 to about 1979 E,WF was the #1 band of all musical genres in the world. Not just the US. The world.

@@JustJammin you got that right. Which reminds me Solange Knowles composed a symphony I think it was and won an award for it. I like her work. She had some nice songs out a few years ago as well. I'm gonna have to google her and see what else she's been up to. I don't know if you have ever heard her sing but she has a nice voice and she has range as well.

Absolutely incredible groove we have an amazing creative lineage.. You are a credit to your generation keeping these jewels alive and reviving them for newbies to experience.. We mustn't lose our legacy. Our creativity is the sum total of our experiences during our sojourn here.. The Pain the pleasure the suffering the losses, the wins, the anxiety the frustration the disappointment, the subjugation and our ability to overcome. Salute

Earth Wind and Fire is so great that they can cover any song and make it better. This is a cover of the song Can't Hide Love sung by the group by Creative Source. Check out the cover of the Beatles song "Got To Get You Into My Life" EWF took both songs from the earth and put them in the atmosphere!!

There were three things that made EWF such a fantastic and great group; it was the writing\production of Maurice White, the musicians, and the musicians were all first class singers themselves. That's why the harmony of their vocals were like no other group.

When you "OMG'd" I was laughing so hard, because I was like, yeah bruh, I feel you, EW&F was THAT good!! I could tell you were really feeling that song. It is an amazing track! EW&F is definitely one of the best bands to ever do it!!! (Maybe even 'the' best). React to their song "Sun Goddess", or "Devotion", or "That's The Way Of The World".
You should try checking out the band 'The [Funky] Meters' also sometime (another great and unique band). Try reacting to their songs like "The Hand Clapping Song", or "Just Kissed My Baby", or "Cardova".

FYI - This was the premier and prototypical band of the 70' and 80s. The tightest band in the business...at the top of the record industry food chain for a good 15 years. This iteration of the band featured the classic 9-piece band members and was augmented by the 3 Phoenix Horns who, along with band member Andrew Woolfok, comprised the cutting edge horn section that was the best (tightest) in the record industry (along with the Tower of Power horn section and the studio group, Seawind - tight but boring). The vocals are all arranged and performed by leader/tenor/ baritone Maurice White and tenor/falsetto Phil Bailey. This is a Hall of Fame band, forchrissake. They put about 14 -18 people on stage; (like big bands, Parlament/Fukadelic). YOU SHOULD ALSO LOOK UP/CHECK OUT " THE NEW BIRTH". You must see the live performance on TH-cam of "I Can Understand It" by New Birth and "It's Been a Long Time" - or listen only.) You react to either one of those and I'll buy some merch, or someth'n.

See you jammin T.S. Monk in the open....drummer son of jazz legend pianist, composer, band leader Thelonious Sphere Monk. T.S. had a couple hits right around maybe ‘81? He would sing lead from behind the drums. His sister sang lead on some cuts. T.S. still plays today, leading his own jazz groups. Re: EWF, you definitely want to check In The Stone. Starts out crazy with horns.

This group took me from my roller skating years of 1972-1975 to my disco days 1976-1987 all the way through to today. I love music too! It has healed me in my broken areas, calmed me, when I'm angry, or felt lost! So, I understand when you say your love for music runs deep! When I was taking it all in, in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, I had absolutely zero idea, that one day, I could share song selections, and knowledge with reactors such as yourself! In less than 100 years from now, all of us Baby Boomers will be gone! Thank God we have a rich heritage in music to leave you!
    God Bless!

Love this band, that's why some of the older people turn their nose up at some of the newer music eras. It's not out of snobbery, it's because the 60's, 70's, and very early 80's were when music seemed to hit it's creative peak. When we saw the radio dj's that were able to pick their own songs, and respond to call in requests start to disappear, most of us new that the best era was over. Don't get me wrong there is still a lot of talented muscians (including singers) out there, and some gained fame, but the creative freedom is on life support.

Another great song on that lp. Gratitude on your back drop is Devotion live. I'm sure it will also be on your playlist. But check out this version 1st. cause there is another version of Devotion on an earlier lp. but not the same as the live version on the Gratitude lp. check it out & enjoy.
