Same thing happened to me today with my 2016 with 57,000K. Never had any issues with the truck. Was pulling a trailer so I was using the trailer mode. I stopped to check the cargo in the open trailer, put it in park (while in trailer mode), put on my four way blinkers and got out. I pulled over a few miles later to let anxious traffic past. The truck died & got this message. Saturday afternoon in a rural area, so not a good situation. I was stuck with ZERO options & a trailer with cargo that could be stolen if I had to leave the trailer. Called a Ram service dept. but no help. Finally checked a Ram forum that saved me. Someone recommended turning the key on and spinning the steering wheel back and forth a few times. IT WORKED!! I WISH I COULD BUY THAT GUY A CASE OF BEER! I drove it home without the trailer mode and zero issues - thank God!!! After reading other comments I wonder if there's an issue with the 2wd/4wd/ trailer circuit. For my issue and the flashing light on the shifter knob, I assume that the truck wasn't registered as being in park???
So this is what I did to fix my 2017 dodge. Hopefully I will be able to explain it well enough. Underneath on the drivers side of your transmission there is a rod that goes into the side of your transmission. The rod sits in between the transmission and the 4 wheel drive shaft (the rod on mine was caked with mud and not allowing it to move far enough to actually go into park). The rod is what tells your transmission what gear you shifted into in the cab (whether you have a dial or column shifter you will have a rod). So I took a screwdriver and fairly gently cleaned all the mud off of the side of the transmission. Now it isn't flashing park at me and I can fully turn it off. I hope this will help someone I had the same thing happen to my 2012 dodge in the past
This just happened to me and yes it was caked with mud. I was about 3 miles from home, used the emerency nutral lever to tow the truck home. Looked thought the net to see if anyone one had any ideas on how to fix this. Was very worried it was going to cost a lot. I came across our post and crawled under the truck and it was all caked with mud. cleaned all the mud, release the emerency nutral lever ( make sure you do this or it won't work ) and started it and it went into park and everything is fine now. Happened again 2 weeks ago, backed up into shop, loaded some tools in back end . Started truck, check engine light on, dial shifter wont turn at all, service transmission message. shut truck off and restarted, magically disappeared? Don't know what to think, I know what to think except glad it works now.. Ill ask service advisor on next oil change to see if he can check stored codes. Not cold nor snow, just doing chores around farm..
I was backing into my shop and stopped then turned shifter to P and killed engine 3 times trying to go forward and back . The P light was red in stead of yellow but message same as your video. 2016 1500 RAM LARAMIE 4x4. I was on muddy road on way home for about 1/2 mile but put back into 2wd for last 1/4 mile with no issues on a sloppy road to farm. I have 52k Miles on vehicle and starting smell lemons like the truck loves the dealer. Glad signed up for deluxe extended warranty but having at sealer nearly every month for some things they cant figure out is ridiculous. The engine dying when dial shifter goes to P concerns me, cant find anyone with same issue. Being on 1st name basis with service dept at dealer gets me in quicker I hope.
@Chase Elliott thaw trucks out if possible and when ice melts they will magically start working and service transmission light will dissappear. I sprayed as far underdeath truck that i could with power washer and it never came back on. Dealer said ice, snow, mud and gravel can keep shifter from pivoting and it causes error light.

Mine did this today have a 2016 normal driving pulled up in my driveway to back in wheel locked and the R blinked I had to shut it off turned it back on it acted like nothing happened and i was able to back in. Was normal driving no load and no 4 wheel drive. No clue what it was. The ground was uneven that's only thing i could think 59,000 miles on mine.
Out of all the b.s. recalls Dodge refuses to address one very dangerous issue, this stupid electronic shifter. Have problems with my 2013 Service Shifter warning locking me out and not being able to go anywhere. Happened numerous times, just lucky I wasn't on the road cross country, this could kill someone.

This is the issue. I my case I drove through heavy snow and it got into the linkage and prevented it from moving. I just put mine in garage overnight to melt the snow.
My neighbor has a 2017 Dodge ram 4 wheel drive he also works in a similar field as you. Yesterday is truck just shut the cat. Cranks fine but no lights on the gear selector and he can't shift it or do anything with it. I'm going to take a look at it for him tomorrow thanks for the heads up
I’m having a shift to park message on my 2016 ram. After it was pressure washed it wouldn’t come out of park. I think the code is P0750. Any ideas what it could be?
@@aymenem5304 mine always started but just didn’t shift out from park. If yours isn’t starting you have a different concern. Do you have any dtc’s to go off of?
Simple fix. Change your brake light switch. Under your brake pedal. Cost about 40 bucks at the dealership. Simple to swap it's a twist and pull. No need for mechanic experience for this. Thank me later. 🙏

Bad battery is the issue here. Install good quality battery and your fixed.
