Sparking is just the umphteened rehash of DBZ arena style fighting in the same vein as Naruto UNS, with barely any progression for 3 console generations. At leasts MvC collection is the old games redone in a respectful way.
I personally never liked those arena style games like ninja storm and tenkaichi. I prefered the old naruto ultimate ninja games on ps2 and dragonball fighterz. I don't understand the appeal of these arena games besides looking kinda cool.

I love the first MVC it oozes style and hype 😭, it was the only one i played for hours as a kid, although it was emulated on a old ass used PC that my uncle gave us, just keyboard mashing but i got the hang of it later on, i didn't even knew they made an MVC2 and MVC3 cause i didn't have internet or friends that liked fighting games, now im so happy with this collection that it doesn't feel real playing it with people all over the world who love it as much as me, cheers 🍻

In the 90s Iron Man had a fan base but it wasn't even CLOSE to xmen, spidermans, cap america, punisher, Hulk or even like ghost rider. Thor was also on the outer periphery with Iron Man as far as the public was aware of them perhaps but they weren't pushing comic sales like other behemoth IPs. So when this game was made they probably felt like War Machine was about as popular and familiar with marvel fans as Iron Man, perhaps even slightly more popular at the time if you only account for having an edgier name and color scheme than mcdonalds yellow and red.

I don't think the person asking was implying that Iron Man was top 3 back then. The character was popular enough to have his own cartoon that lasted for two seasons. Even Captain America didn't have a TV show in the 90s, yet he made it in this game.

Yeah, the Venom is not good. I was not even a tournament player. I just played for fun in the arcade and my MVC1 and 2 venom was way better. You just got to learn more Venom stuff. Also, didn't know the dude had a daughter. That's cool.
I'd definitely like to try out your MvCI mod when it launches, but that's going to heavily depend on how big of a sale the game is on at that time. It's genuinely ridiculous that the base cost for MvCI even after the colossal failure that it was they are still trying to charge $40USD minimum which is WITHOUT the additional "DLC" characters (which means it's also without Venom). Right now, in late 2024, more than 7 years after the release of the game, to get the "complete" game with all characters you STILL need to spend $60USD at minimum. More than 7 years after the release of a game whose community is literally R.I.P. in Peace DEAD because of how terribly greedy and garbage Capcom was at that time and it's STILL $60 ($60 only so long as you don't include the ludicrously priced THIRTY-SIX additional alt-costume cosmetic DLCs which would bump the total cost all the way up to $196USD). It's insanely greedy. Again, I'd love to try your mod out when it launches, but there is no way I'm going to pay $60 for a 7+ year old game with a completely dead community. I mean, if you go check SteamDB for MvCI at this exact moment you would see a staggering grand total of only SIX people currently in-game on Steam; SIX people playing right now and with a 24-hour concurrent player peak of only 20, of which there isn't even any guarantee that any of them will even be attempting to queue for a public match. I honestly think your best chance at making this mod a success is to either try to talk to Capcom and convince them to HEAVILY discount the game for a week or two around it's launch or otherwise wait for the big Steam Winter Sale and launch it then with fingers crossed that the gave sees a deep sale. Otherwise, I really can't imagine that many people are going to be chomping at the bit to drop $60 just to try out a mod for a game that they might not ever play again if the community doesn't bounce back to a persistent threshold of multiplayer practicality.
Max has never been into Arena fighters. You have to realize the core target audience for the genre isn't the hardcore fans of "traditional" fighting games.
