Agreed shouldn't get visa approved in first place. Here's what i think, they bring money to US. The initial fees, visa fees, change of status fees. All of them are students not terrorist so no harm approving visas. Money money just money is important.

Aman Pathak you are right, but who is keeping a check that all of the students are studying for medical or engineering exams only? Think about it mate.

My uncle is from IIT and he said that no matter how much money you have, how many tuitions you take, you may go to the best coaching centres but you'll get into IIT only if you *can* and you *want to* and he's actually right about the money part cuz he was born in a millionaire family.
Eventually whats the outcome of all this? Its all fun and games until you're involved in legal matters. Very risky for an 18 year old.

They do that in india also, first they make CPT easy and then you get stuck in IPCC and Finals, lol !

You probably have a point, but colleges in the US don't simply pick applicants based on their test scores. There are more categories like credit scores and extra curricular talents that also plays a role
Best score doesn't mean guarantee as extracurricular also should be impactful.

As an Indian living in the U.S. I don't like it very much here. Coming here was terrible decision for my family. We were rich in India but after coming to U.S. we lost all our wealth. I was two when we came so I can't speak much on daily life in India but from what my brother says and my parents say it was better.

@@12349Nitin Indians are the number one ethnic group in the U.S. (CEO of Google and Adobe are indians) so it's not due to lack of opportunity. A lot of it was due to the 2008 crash because it was hard for them to find good jobs at the time and they never changed jobs plus the loneliness of living in America probably wasn't very good. I've lived most my life here and spent some time in India and can say people here are very isolationist compared to there. Harder to make friends. We were also rich in India before coming here and when we came here we became lower middle class. My dad regrets leaving all the time.
I know someone who is in the US from last 11 years as a student, he did MS then Ph.D. Now again doing MS in completely different field.
He look down upon us when he comes to visit india for 15 days.. I also know people who pay consultancies which
pose as a company to file H1B for them.

I don’t think you told the full truth.
Do you know what CPT means? Curriculum Practical Training allows you to work from Day 1. It is even applicable for OPT students, when they go for Internships.
While OPT is a student visa just like H1, gives them permission to work after their graduation, it has different tenure for STEM or non STEM students.
When one’s OPT ends, what the student will do? He will go on CPT.
Now, this is confusing for many, even for me as a US student. Which university to choose? How much fees to pay? Which are fake or genuine?
Any student is here for last 2-5 years, so we don’t know anything about History of a college, all runs on Word of mouth.
So, for the case here, The Farmington college was also like that, people pursued it just for the case of CPT admission. Whether it was fake or nothing, do the students will know on the first hand? You are treating students as criminals just because they thought they don’t have to do the proper classes, or pay less fees or get referral bonus.
Homeland security are doing their business by setting this trap. They should first tell students which college are genuine or fake. They can not just tell you are wrong, because they did undercover mission on it.
The Immigration system is fucked up, atleast if not more OPT /CPT students pay 20-30%, then also we are charged from taking Jobs from American, and moreover this type of trap charges. They should be ashamed to behave this us like this, we work our asses off to get this degree and survive in hostile work environment.
High time we raise our voices, than just being condemned like this.
In canadian govt website for immigration there are list of college or university approved by canadian govt... I dont know if the USA govt website does the same... but totally agree with you instead of catching the fake students already existing they trapped innocent students

If someone is paying agents money to get into a college without being there and get the benefits while they work, obviously its illegal. CPT stands for Curricular Practical Training and those students were signing up and not appearing for the training and these illegal practices should be punished. 37 or were detained you said and at least 7 were women, the question is how does it matter? 7 or 37 , females should be treated differently cause they are female? The take away should be not to do illegal work in other countries and not what you said.
If you apply for a CPT, do it. Don't look for short cuts.
Also, since I came to the US, I have seen people from Andhra and Telangana have huge groups that do things together in groups. Thats why you saw almost all of them from those 2 states.
One of my friend is from Andhra & he said there are lots of people in Andhra/Telengana who gets fake certifications, experience letter etc. Infact there are so many establishments who are there to provide these kind documents from GRE, Certified courses, Internships, work experience etc. Students are hardworking & intelligent but they use it for obtaining fake documents.
What I don't understand is what charges ICE pressed against them? Not knowing university is a fake, or the study scheme too good or what?
Fraud. The report themselves as students and are 'in it' with the 'school boards' to falsely send wrong information for personal gains.

There are several US govt accredited colleges that offer Day 1 CPT. To enroll in a college for your second masters on F-1 is not illegal. Only this one was a fake one.

Upon 'enrollment' and 'handing in cash' to the 'school board', the school staff would say explicitly to the student that what they are doing is illegal, but they can get away with if nobody says a word and pretend like they're normal students. The students agree to this, and that's what gets them. Fraud. Should the student suddenly turn pale and decides to back away, they will not be charged.
