Alfas are not perfect, they might not have the latest tech, the finest materials and build quality...but they have a soul in contrast to most german cars. Love it.
Since the my2020 and 2021 versions, build quality and materials are up there with the Germans if not better in some cases. And they do have the latest tech in some details, not in the infotainment, I agree. But Chassis is state of the art, suspension is extremely good and efficient, aluminum engine with the best performance for its size, carbon drive shaft, etc. It just depends where we look for the tech.
Watching your reviews lately has become more like watching a video seeing two people having fun on a loaned car rather than an honest review on what the car offers. I don't connect with the comparison with quadrafolio all over the video. There is a difference of 40k approx. and they both are not comparable and caters to different consumer sections. Overall not your best!
Because this particular Stelvio is priced at $70,000 and the Base AMG GLC 43 starts at $65,000, this places it squarely in the sights of the bigger boys. So, yet another wheezy inline 4-cylinder turbo/Buick Encore styling/Alfa reliability vs V-6 Bi turbo with 385 HP? I'm with Yuri and Jakub on this one.
The stelvio they tested is a 4-cylinder and bases for less than the GLC 300. The 43 has a 6 cylinder and has a starting price $20,000 higher than a 4-cylinder stelvio. They're just not comprable
@@litespeed65 I'm not. The base price for the Stelvio TI in Canada is $59k. If we start loading extras to take it to 70k, like the carbon fiber package in this tested model, perhaps we should try the same exercise on the GLC. I'm actually doing it for more than 30 years. For actual car reliability, people should try to look more into proper statistics, like the ones from rental car and leasing companies and their fleet availability statistics.
I just purchased a used 2018 Giulia Q4 for under 30k been an amazing car these last few months It handles so well and is a blast to drive for the price point made me a total Alfa lover
Comparing this car with the quadrifoglio all of the time is not fair. It has the half of the power and 2/3th of the price. This car is absolutely amazing. Not fast? Come on, 5,5 seconds to 100km/ph with a 4 cylinder SUV! I was absolutely surprised during test driving. Amazing car! Best seats of almost every cars, amazing steering and overall good package. When my C Class Benz is sold, I will purchase the 280hp Stelvio :) It really fits all my needs. It's big enough for a family, it's fast enough, it's amazing looking and it has plenty of stuff.
I completely agree! I encourage anyone interested to test drive one. I’m happy I did and it was a great experience, these things have so much soul! Can’t wait for my current lease to be up!!
Emmanuel Velazquez don’t listen to him. in today’s age they’re actually somewhat reliable. there’s ppl out there with almost 50k miles on theirs and they report no issues. my dad leased a 2018 giulia ti rwd back in 2017, was a daily driver and nothing went bad
Just speaking with the wife yesterday that we should have picked one of these up. It felt special, something most other SUVs lack. Best steering by far, too.
Watched this video again and, again, all you guys do is complain it's not a Quadrifoglio model. I'll bet you don't drive cars that cost over $100,000 Canadian like the QV. Neither do I, so give the 4-cylinder car a break! The small motor car will also get decent fuel economy, require much less maintenance and reduced insurance costs.
Fun review and mostly useful and interesting. But to bash the Stelvio Ti because it does not have features of the Quadrifoglio is unfair. Alfa is for drivers and with the ever softening ride of the BMW, what other choice is left in this price range. Can't afford a Ferratri or a Lambo so yes siree, for me its ALFA ROMEO!
Does Yuri understand there's a reason why the Quadrifoglio cost more than the TI? It will be interesting to see the next time they review the standard BMW or Mercedes if they constantly compare those vehicles to their M and AMG counterparts???
I have a Giulia Ti Q4 and agree with most of everything they say here. Car is amazing. Transmission is fantastic and steering is the best out there. The manual 1-2 shift is easy once you get used to it. Shift at like 5k in 1st and you'll get it every time. 1st is just a really short gear and it revs very quickly. Launching in auto is fastest and with an easy to install piggyback car does 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds and 1/4 in under 13.
@@marcelbordo2085 JB4. Easy to install and you can custom tune it for WMI or when you install a hybrid turbo. Also dealer cannot trace it as it doesn't flash anything.
the review is amazing as usual but it did get a bit distracting having Yuri compare it to the Quad the whole time. Like it’s not supposed to be compared. just some lowkey feedback
Yuri's frustration is so cute 😂 For us "normal people" of Italy this is still fast. This engine is in the "Veloce" version that means "Fast" 😅. The vast majority of cars, even in this luxury suv segment are sold with less than 250 hp, because of taxes and fuel cost. Still nice car and great video quality 😉 Happy Holidays!
Don't forget the weight. Talking about power is useless when not regarding the weight. The Stelvio is amazingly light for its segment. Combined with the 280hp it's just a very fast car.
One of the few videos from TSP that I didn't like. I understand that y'all are starting to get accustomed to driving baller cars, and that a 4 banger doesn't excite you like a poppy V6 or a roaring V8. But this IS a fast car. Constantly comparing it to another vehicle that costs over 40k more, and has twice as much horsepower isn't really fair. It's also a very sexy ride with that blacked out exterior and red interior, but that's subjective.
Why would you install a cone filter? This just sucks warm engine air which is not productive for the turbo. The original design take cool air from the front.
@@jdswdew Do not get a cone. Just replace the stock one with a K&N. This will keep the cool air coming from the front and not suck in ambient warmer engine air.

People giving you guys a lot of heat for conparing this to the QV, i feel like they're mostly exaggerating...but i do agree with some other comments on here that, while tue video title made me really excited, the video itself felt a lot less positive Maybe it's just the editing, or maybe you guys just took for granted that we'd think that most of this car is just amazing, but it did feel like you didn't highlight the many positives as much compared to the few quirks/negatives I think it stems mostly from the QV comparisons, where imo direct competitor comparisons would've probably been more positive and given us a better view of how well this car does against its rivals. The verdict in the end could've still been "Work harder and get the QV", but it would've been more because that thing is just so amazing, not because this Ti is a letdown (at least again compared to direct rivals), which i thiiiink is more of what you guys were trying to say Still loved the vid tho, hope you have a great new year, keep them vids coming ^^
@@TheStraightPipes oh wow, didn't think i'd get a reply to this, but awesome to see you guys reading the comments so throughly ^^ i wouldn't say it's a total letdown personally, considering it's just as good as the competition even in those points Obviously it's a letdown compared to the QV, and if you want to say it's just so much better there that everyone should just save up more for that then that's reasonable too I just think it'd be better to compare it to the actual competition during the review portion, and then in the verdict say "it's good/great/decent/whatever, but the QV is so insane you should just buy that" Looking forward to what you guys got in store next for us ^^

My Dear Friends, I have 2018 Stelvio TI Sport. I have all the fun you can have in QV. I have upgraded exhaust to Ragazzon resonated. I will link in the description. It is quiet on hwy and absolutely no drone. But as soon as you put in dynamic and start hitting Red line it pops and farts just like QV. Also my favourite thing is to to use paddle shifters. So First gear you have to time it the way it revs so fast. If you use hit the paddle @ 4000rpm on first and 2nd on 5000rpm oh my God the push you get back in the seats and sound it makes I love it. And in the 3rd gear it makes to rev into Red line upto 6000rpm and then @ shift it farts again. But only in dynamic. I am pretty sure something in timing and engine software changed because my car does not farts or sounds as aggressive in Normal mode. Since exhaust has no settings to definitely the change in sound comes from engine settings being changed in Dynamic. I hope it will help manybto solve this issue. Cheers!
By constantly referencing the Quadrifoglio, you fail to appreciate this model’s virtues and it robs us of an objective opinion on how it really is. Come on, Yuri, that’s not how you do a review (although you seem to have gotten over the Quadrifoglio at a point).
Yuri. I think somebody is getting a little spoiled with all of the super cars after hitting 1m subscribers. This car is pretty special for being a base engined family hauler. Despite its lack of pops and gurgles, its certainly a more fun option than a fwd Q3, NX or GLA, which really is what this is comparable to. You can get all of those things you want for an extra 40k with the Quadrifolio, if you really need them. Then, of course, you'll have the pleasure of dealing with the dubious reliability and maintenance of a Ferrari engine. Try to remember that most of us that watch these don't get to drive tester AMGs every week. We're likely shopping for something exactly like this - that can be semi affordable, functional, and still a little fun.
You make it sound like this will be reliable compared to the Quadrifolio, but they are poorly built either way. The turbo 4 in this will be lucky to see 100k, and they failed to mention in this video that the interior squeaks and rattles from the factory. At the end of the day it's still a FiatChrysler product, so low quality is to be expected.
@@KB-vu5xs And all that information is based on what? Hear saying from every body that doesn't own one, that's where. If you want to learn about car true reliability index, look for maintenance and fleet availability data from car rentals and leasing companies.

Also, no friends or acquaintances of mine have bought a second FCA vehicle due to having numerous issues while owning one, and that is across many brands and models. Several of them had to fight to get repairs done under warranty even though it was 100% FCA's fault; they are a shady company... they cut corners, they only care about profit and not quality, and they try to have no accountability. Not the sort of company I would give my money to, even if their quality wasn't a joke.
@@KB-vu5xs Well, not all FCA products are alike then, because I use them since the past 30 years ...not only because they can be more fun to drive, but also because of reliabiltiy. I'm very happy with my own experience, especially when I see the examples from the car fleet at the company I work for, more than 90% of those, from the usual three German suspects. ...and I'm keeping my preference precisely putting my money where my mouth is. Maybe FCA products have not the same quality in America as they have here in Europe - but Alfa Romeo is only built in Italy, as far as I know.

I have a '18 Stelvio Ti Sport Q4 and previously had a '17 Giulia Quadrifoglio. So, while the power is way down, I think the Stelvio has a decent amount. I wish Alfa Romeo would offer a engine with 350-380 HP on the Sport/Carbon trim levels.
That turbo 4 likely won't see 100k and they are poorly built inside and out. They squeak and rattle from the factory, even though this review didn't show it.
BS. They have their issues but I own a Stelvio and a Giulia with 40k miles between the two of them, and 3 cross-country drives. Neither had had but a hiccup. I’m sure little things may come up here and there, and I’m not ignorant to the fact others have not been so lucky, but these broad generalizations are simply untrue.
@@spencer1638 You just "bragged" that cars with 20k miles didn't have issues, that just goes to show that not even you expect good long term reliability from them. Cars with that low mileage obviously shouldn't have issues. Get back to me when they have 200k, if they make it that far. Also, driving across country isn't really making a case for your point since highway mileage is less wear and tear.
@@KB-vu5xs I don't need to test drive because I own a brand new 2020 facelift stelvio. Car before was a 159 which i had for 8 years and did 130k miles. 159 build quality and reliability was great. Perceived build quality of the Stelvio isn't as good as Germans but for equivalent spec it's much cheaper and outperforms in chassis and engine departments. Ignore list prices. E.g. Stelvio can be had with 20% discount and 2.9 % finance! No discount on a macan and finance is 6.9% that changes things a lot which reviews never touch on.

Keep picking your German cars and whenever they'll break, because there's a better chance they will, you will just believe it was bad luck and be happy for not having such an unreliable Italian car.
With the prices of these on the used market now... if you are fortunate enough to be near a dealer for yearly service needs, these 2020+ model years are really a bargin for what you are getting. Stop with the comparisons to the QV model, and just enjoy it for what it is. Plenty fast for "normal" car needs, stunning looks, an interior that feels quite "premium" and will age well (not luxurious, but premium), decent enough space for most needs, 25+ mpg, AWD, easy remote start (looking at you German cars,) and a driving/handling/steering feel experience that is unlike any other SUV...at least ones I have been in. With the reasonably priced MOPAR extended warranty, its really hard to beat. The infotainment is not class leading, but once you set it up how you like... it actually functions really well in my experience. (Not laggy when you use the center dial BTW.) Unless you really struggle with small screens, the backup camera, IMO the only real let down, is still perfectly usable.
I really feel sad for this generation. They spend more time fussing about the smartphone part of the car and totally ignoring the AWESOME CAR part of the car. All manufacturers should go back to single DIN AM/FM head unit and be done with it.

Alfas are not perfect, they might not have the latest tech, the finest materials and build quality...but they have a soul in contrast to most german cars. Love it.
The Germans Just have a Better infotaiment but materials are super fine and build quality also
I own one
At least it has soul...
Why compare this car to the GLC 43? You should be comparing it to the GLC 300
Because it’s a Mercedes so Lardy and bound to understeer, the 300 would be totally outclassed
@@litespeed65 you got your numbers wrong
@@litespeed65 I'm not. The base price for the Stelvio TI in Canada is $59k. If we start loading extras to take it to 70k, like the carbon fiber package in this tested model, perhaps we should try the same exercise on the GLC.
Alfa (lack of) reliability is myth just like German reliability is.
As reliability is concerned, my money goes for the Alfa, nor the Merc. ...but's that's me and I put my money where my mouth is. I'm actually doing it for more than 30 years.
For actual car reliability, people should try to look more into proper statistics, like the ones from rental car and leasing companies and their fleet availability statistics.

Just learnd that a way more expensive version of this car is better! Thanks guys!
So stealth looking, you know it’s something wicked coming up from behind you, even those it’s not the QV model! Merry Christmas you guys! 🧑🎄👍
Alfa Romeo's hold a special place in my heart as my favorite Italian cars. ❤️ Merry Christmas, Yuri and Jakub!
What?! 0-100 4.5? Cmon mate. How’d you get that number?
What piggyback did you install?
@@marcelbordo2085 JB4. Easy to install and you can custom tune it for WMI or when you install a hybrid turbo. Also dealer cannot trace it as it doesn't flash anything.

Just bought one of these. Love the handing. I have watched most of the reviews on these and you guys rock it.
Yuri's frustration is so cute 😂
For us "normal people" of Italy this is still fast. This engine is in the "Veloce" version that means "Fast" 😅.
The vast majority of cars, even in this luxury suv segment are sold with less than 250 hp, because of taxes and fuel cost.
Still nice car and great video quality 😉
Happy Holidays!
It's also a very sexy ride with that blacked out exterior and red interior, but that's subjective.
these two idiots never disagree, any fail to offer any original opinions.
I just can't wait for the off road test video of the 2021 RAM 1500 trx. It would be a mind blowing video!!!
I seriously love this car now
I have a Sport Ti n I love it! Got a cone filter on it and it sounds like my 500 Abarth with an intake, it is really fun to drive!
What air filter do you have? I have a TI sport 19 and can’t find very many aftermarket intakes

People giving you guys a lot of heat for conparing this to the QV, i feel like they're mostly exaggerating...but i do agree with some other comments on here that, while tue video title made me really excited, the video itself felt a lot less positive
Maybe it's just the editing, or maybe you guys just took for granted that we'd think that most of this car is just amazing, but it did feel like you didn't highlight the many positives as much compared to the few quirks/negatives
I think it stems mostly from the QV comparisons, where imo direct competitor comparisons would've probably been more positive and given us a better view of how well this car does against its rivals.
The verdict in the end could've still been "Work harder and get the QV", but it would've been more because that thing is just so amazing, not because this Ti is a letdown (at least again compared to direct rivals), which i thiiiink is more of what you guys were trying to say
Still loved the vid tho, hope you have a great new year, keep them vids coming ^^
Isn’t the shifting and sound kinda a total let down? -yuri
@@TheStraightPipes oh wow, didn't think i'd get a reply to this, but awesome to see you guys reading the comments so throughly ^^
i wouldn't say it's a total letdown personally, considering it's just as good as the competition even in those points
Obviously it's a letdown compared to the QV, and if you want to say it's just so much better there that everyone should just save up more for that then that's reasonable too
I just think it'd be better to compare it to the actual competition during the review portion, and then in the verdict say "it's good/great/decent/whatever, but the QV is so insane you should just buy that"
Looking forward to what you guys got in store next for us ^^

My Dear Friends,
I have 2018 Stelvio TI Sport. Cheers!
Holyshit that black on black is beautiful! The silhouette is so beautiful! Wow! It looks amazing in this color combination
Do the regular Alfa Romeo Giulia review, the 2.0t like this Stelvio. Most people don't buy the Quadrifoglio. Pretty please!
By constantly referencing the Quadrifoglio, you fail to appreciate this model’s virtues and it robs us of an objective opinion on how it really is. Come on, Yuri, that’s not how you do a review (although you seem to have gotten over the Quadrifoglio at a point).
Hey man, it is what it is. They’re completely different cars.
@@TheStraightPipes Exactly. So review THIS CAR and stop talking about the Quadrifoglio.
Alfa Romeo is really making some fun to drive vehicles
Stelvio is a beauty.❤️
@@miks564 I have had mechanics, who I know for a fact have worked on them, tell me about the stupid designs and poor quality of various FCA vehicles, including Maseratis.

Best handling! Until the computers fail, which they will. Because, you know.. Alfa's soul.
That turbo 4 will be lucky to see 100k too. Plus for people who really want handling, they wouldn't be looking at crossovers.
Merry Christmas to all!!
