    I find it funny all the Italian accent during the review, but...
    Turbo is American (Garrett)
    Gearbox is German (ZF).
    Autonomous driving is German (Bosch)
    Fly-by-wire Brake system is German (Continental)
    ...in fact, most systems in every car of every brand are not built by the car manufacturer. They're from global suppliers.
    The FCA group has also global car parts suppliers in the group, like Mopar, FPT and Magneti Marelli, but as shown, many of the components are still from external suppliers.
    The important things from this Stelvio however are Alfa Romeo: The aluminum engine, the superb Giorgio platform, and the Aluminum suspension: double wishbone in the front, patent multi-link in the rear.
    For those of you still indecisive, let me tell you this car is a jewel.
    Stellantis (the new group name) already announced they're going to drop this magnificent Giorgio platform in favor of others from PSA (Stellantis group) more suitable to hybrid and fully electric cars.
    So, unless they keep producing non-hybrid Giulias and Stelvios, the exceptional way these cars drive on the road is probably going be lost.
    Stelvio is going to be one of the last SUVs that drives better than most cars (not only SUVs).

    Well, if it helps anyone, I've ended up getting a 2021 volcano black Stevio Veloce just like the one on this review, same 20" dark wheels and all the 'Nero' dark details, but with chocolate interior instead of red, plus rear limited slip diff, adaptive suspension and also darker tail lights.
    And I greatly enjoy my Stelvio every single time I ride in it. It's amazing how good it feels, be it slow, enjoying a comfy, calm and silent ride or aggressively enjoying its generous dynamics and handling - it's so amazing sometimes we have to be cautious because we forget its size, weight, height and speed. In Dynamic mode, the ZF gearbox is a dream to use with the paddle shifters.
    ...and I still come back to this video to watch it rolling from the exterior. Something we can't do while driving it.
    For me, it just looks stunning! ...so much better than the usual square / boxy designs.
    😎

    Great review! I have a Giulia now that is going to be replaced by a Stelvio. Once you get used to that steering you can not go back to any other car in this price range.
    You are right about the brake pedal, at the same time it's just a matter of habit. I was concerned at first when I got the Giulia but it doesnt bother me anymore now.

    Great review! I have the 280hp in Misano blue and I love that car. It isn't perfect in every detail but it makes me happy every time I step into it. The Germans may be objectively better all around but not more fun. The Design!!! The way you can take it through corners... ;-)

    I like the honest review. It doesn't sound like an Alfa to me. This alone is a major detractor, but I have been in the Giulia Quadrifoglio and tgat one Does sound like a modern version of the Alfa GTV 6 cyl. which was a joy to drive. Cheers.

    I suspect the feeling of the fly-by-wire brake system is a matter of personal taste. We can find several reviews online where the drivers praises them, others like in this video, do not like it.
    I agree it would be nice to be able to disable both the 4x4 and ESP. ...In the Quadrifoglio at least, the ESP is Off in 'race' mode.
    😊
    Going for a V6, I would still prefer the Stelvio not only for the power of that engine, but also because not even a Macan drives as good as the Stelvio. Stelvio dynamic is so good it makes us feel we're driving a hothatch, not a SUV.

    That's a good observation about the rev limiter.. although.. the legendary 2.5L Busso rev limiter was only slightly higher at 6300 rpm.. and the 3.0 Busso was 6600 rpm... but true a lot of alfas like to breath. the twin spark engine is 7000 rpm. honestly you put a catless exhaust on this 2.0L turbo.. and it sounds great.

    How can you rate reliability just with a test drive ?
    I had a bmw for a few months and there was always something wrong with the board computer or with the i drive that would drop the connection with my phone. Unlike my Stelvio which never has such issues so what ?

      @@MotorPressReviews I don't think it's a major issue at all, because there are many reviews where people actually like and praised them.
      In the end, the car brakes efficiently, so it's just a matter of personal taste.

    • @MotorPressReviews
      @MotorPressReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most journalists know nothing about cars and don’t drive them beyond “Sunday Driver’s ability”. For them, the brake pedal is something you step on to stop the car.
      People that drive the car for what it has been built to do, will lack the confidence in the brake system once they feel that pedal. As I said in the video, I can imagine someone getting used to it, but still for me, it’s not ideal.
      In the quadrifoglio it was better.

    • @hokieplaya
      @hokieplaya 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MotorPressReviews you’re right - I got a Stelvio back in 2019 and got used to the brakes. Now I initially tend to slam the brakes on other cars because I am conditioned to travel modulate as opposed to pressure modulate. That being said, the vehicle is a joy to drive for an suv and brings me smiles! I would recommend to anyone to just ride out the brake adjustment period and then good things will follow! Also, this car still gets noticed much more than your dime a dozen bmw or merc.

    • @miks564
      @miks564 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CX-5 is a full segment below. The Mazda is a C segment it competes with the Audi Q3 for instance. The Stelvio is a D and competes with the Audi Q5 using the same example.
      It shows in the size of the car and space available and also of course, in the way it rides in terms of comfort and noise. ..and also in terms of dynamics which is the major advantage of the Stelvio against other SUVs.
      If the difference is small for you, then go for the Mazda, it is much less expensive as expected.
