    That spiral with the recessed blue does look really good. I like that it has a crazy low 1 lumen moonlight mode too. The turbo is a bit much though lol. It would be great for search and rescue since you'd be lighting things up like the sun.

    Good review and explanation of this light.
    I just ordered one, but chose the 4500K high CRI version. Significantly lower output but still good. I very much appreciate a more natural tint, more pleasant for the eyes.

    I don't have a ACEBEAM E70. But I have watched several reviews on it as I am in the market for a new flashlight. Its a flooder (seems like a great flooder) not a thrower, from what I can tell its only throwing useful light a little less than half the distance listed. Most light fall short of throwing useful light to anywhere near the distance listed. But this one really seems to be falling short by quite a bit. I will keep looking but its becoming apparent to me that its going to be tough to find a quality flashlight in this lumen class with a good combo beam with features for under $100.

    As an edc, can do but chunky in the pocket, agree with you, a slimmer light and 1500 lumens is nice to edc. The Amutorch SD2 has the same dimensions as this Acebeam, so can edc but bulky.

    I like that the belt clip is screwed on, ones that clip on tend to come off. I do see all those slots as dirt collectors, so keeping the unit clean will take a lot of work. Glad it has a tail switch! So many are going with side switches, and if you use a light a lot, you will know how annoying those can be! If it was 29.95, I would buy one. But right now, just the light is going for 65.00 at battery junction, and you can get 5000k or 6500k.

    It's very floody, which I prefer for EDC. Also the 21700 battery is tough to burn through in one night. Plus the double click to activate means you can carry this however you want without accidental activation. As far as your negatives, it seems like the Acebeam L35 fits more what you'd prefer (more throw, instant access to turbo, etc).
    My negatives: No holster included (but the T36 holster works great). Also if you don't use the Acebeam battery, a flat top 40t will not work without a few magnets to extend the length a little.

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I included the throw as a negative because I just didn’t see the advertised throw distance in my beam tests.
      Otherwise that wouldn’t have been a huge deal for me.

    • @Buapo
      @Buapo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, you were being thorough. Just looking at the emitter and reflector I knew this was just going to belch out a wall of light, and that's what I wanted, so I wasn't disappointed by the beam. But it was right for you to mention that it didn't hit the claimed marks.

    • @ayokay123
      @ayokay123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Buapo It's not that it doesn't hit the claimed marks. It's that it doesn't even come close.

    • @Buapo
      @Buapo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ayokay123 there's also a big difference between the actual distance of a beam versus what our eyes perceive. I've read that a good rule is to take the claimed throw, and cut it in half - at that distance, we will perceive the light to be hitting the target in a way that we feel illuminates it properly.
      Regardless, I've read a few reviews that found it to hit the claimed throw in their tests (Zeroair is one example). That's not a dig on Chris, but it's worth mentioning.

    I have been considering this flashlight for a while as one to keep in my bag, I have a much much much smaller rovyvon aurora that I use as my edc light but I would like a larger light with longer battery life for camping and hiking and stuff. the fact that it didn't throw the light super far is disappointing and does not line up with their claims at all but other than that it checks all the boxes I'm looking for and seems like a good option.

  • @j.johnson5217

    If they came out with one in a spot version I'd like it. It doesn't appear to be that big for the pocket tho i don't know about weight? I'll stick with my Sorfirm f22a,. It feels fine in my pocket and it gets down range. Its well balanced and you can charge with the battery left in and the light can charge a phone. It isn't perfect but it's a keeper, tho i do prefer a rear switch best..

    I've got the light mainly for its flood and hi cap batt 🦇
    The output is good enough for me the 1300lm sustained is perfect for a edc. Really happy with it, and it's not that expensive..
    But this is better indoors, I work with heating systems and it Wil light up a complete room when you set it upright 😊
    So for me it does the trick, for outdoors I got my k30, same led but way better trow and way less spill on the beam

    The Acebeam T36 is still a win if I'm carrying a light this size. I have the E70 and I'm sad to see the lack of throw. I agree... Should be around 700 ft and it is more like 100 ft of reach. Rarely do I need 4,700 Lumen directly where I am stepping! I need throw to check property lines at night. Another light I have on the way for throw is the Noctigon KR1 with W2 emitter.

      I have the SC700Fd, and it's nice overall, but the intervals between med/high suck. Med 1 and Med 2 in particular are both too dim. There's a HUGE gap between 186 lumens on Med 1 and 1414 lumens on H2, the next step up. In other words, Med is too dim, and the next level is too bright, and there's nothing you can do about it. There should be something in the 400-700 lumen range IMO.

    This really is a beautiful design!
    I feel this is in an awkward state in terms of size. It's small for how bright it is, but you don't need 4600 lms on EDC. They could have make it bigger to perform better and it wouldn't change much.

      It’s marketed as an everyday carry. But for me personally it’s just a little too large.

    Anyone claiming a 21700 light is a good size for EDC, Is in my opinion making up for something else in their pants. A 21700 light while great for run time, is frankly just too big and cumbersome for every day carry for a pocket.
