Yes guys. Embrace the raw message of the song...the player was wrong. He played too much. But the beauty is he is not afraid of expressing himself...the gift God gave the 70s, where a entire 2 generations were brought up on love songs; positivity and fantastic music.

It’s 1979, and I just broke up with my first real 8th grade boyfriend because I thought I could “do better.” A couple of days later, the boy I had my eye on was like “um, no.” So, I went home and played this song over and over on my turntable and cried into my microphone/hair brush. I had played myself. Now I missed Mr. Not good enough. 😂😂

I'll give you cats another perspective for the recipe, the consistency of the 70s and 80s soft rock or yacht rock as it became to be known later. Most of these cats in these bands were children of the 50s and 60s and they were in awe of and transfixed by the music of Black American R&B, Soul and Motown artists. What emerged was the sound of AM Radio and the moniker given to all of these bands like Player, Hall &Oats and the like was Blue Eyed Soul! A bunch of white boys, some from the states and some from across the pond that were trying their hardest to be the cats they grew up listening to and either by choice or subconsciously they studied that music and that's what came out when these cats performed.

the design term you're looking for is "sunken living room". it was used to create the illusion of more space and yes, very late '60s and '70s-esque.
and yes, fruit scarf guy, bass player ron moss, starred as ridge on the cbs soap "the bold and the beautiful" for YEARS, decades maybe.
i also never realised til now how much the chorus sounds like the band ambrosia 🤔 y'all should check out "how much i feel" by them - my favourite of theirs ❤

I cant tell you how much this song was played and how many people made out or got laid when this song came on, or you played it yourself when you wanted that exact outcome. This was a perfect audio aphrodisiac and so many people owe their births to this song I kid you not. Player was a major force in the 70s and I was one lucky individuals who was blessed to be alive during that time in his teens and and experience this magical smooth groove that was so familiar in the 70s. Thanks 3 Amigos for another great one from your friend in Texas!🤠
