Hey guys!! Thanks so much for watching, and being patient while I made this review!! I wanted to make sure I went in properly understanding Satanism before I spoke on it, so I had to do some research, which obviously took a while!! I just want to clarify some things - 1) I used the Symbol of Chaos Magick to represent the Occult, as chaos Magick is a practice exclusively done by occultists, and not done in any religion or belief system, however, some occultists do not like this symbol, and feel it doesn't represent them, so please keep that in mind!! But I needed to use a symbol, and that was the best thing I could think of! 2) When I'm talking about the dreams, what I tried to explain was, I think people who have been around for as long as those three wouldn't have straight forward dreams, due to how much they've experienced and seen, their dreams would be very abstract. 3) I just want to stress, I DO LIKE THE SHOW, and you can like something while understanding where it needs to improve. If I didn't like the show overall, I wouldn't have reviewed it! 4) I feel like this one should be common sense, but just in case, all religions and belief systems have variation in them, so please keep that in mind, this video is NOT a religious documentary, its a TV show review that briefly touches on the basics of the basics of these three belief systems, so before you put you "UHM ACTUALLY FAUST" pants on, keep that in mind, and keep in mind...I know, whatever you were about to say about Witchcraft...I know. Yes that sounds arrogant, because it is, but trust me, I know. 5) The three goddesses are present in Paganism, Neopaganism, and Wicca, which are widely considered the "core" witchcraft belief systems, just their presence varies greatly between the three, and even individual witches have their own importance assigned to the goddesses, again, this is the type of nuance I just didn't have time for in a 5 minute segment in a TV show review, and I encourage everyone to go and do their own research. ------------- 6) The Church of Satan has replied to the lawsuit. The lawsuit is being done by The Satanic Temple, and NOT The Church of Satan, they are two distinct groups. The most notable difference between them is that The Satanic Temple is known for doing PR Stunts, where as the Church of Satan really doesn't care what people do with themselves, and they have said that they don't care about the Sabrina show at all. Their reply was posted after I made this video, had it been done before hand, I would've amended the video accordingly.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the set designers/directors didn't just google a picture of Baphomet and picked the first cool design that they saw.
They totally should bring you on. I feel that you could add a lot to improve the element of the show, if not also keeping them from getting their asses handed to them in a nasty lawsuit.
I think for the most part, they were looking at all these things (Satanism, occultism, and witchcraft) through Christianic eyes. And Blackwood did give a small glimpse of how you explained Satanism. Like how Satan is all about freedom, and doing what feels right to you. Obviously he was lying, but I think they chose to depict Satanism in this way because the show has to walk a VERY fine line with its audience, and show that "supporting" Satan is ultimately bad. If they had made it seem like a good thing from beginning to end (getting all the power and no consequence), I can't even imagine the amounts of calls the show would get so that it could be cancelled because it's "pushing" young viewers to think Satan is a good guy, and God is a baddie. Granted, this is coming from someone who doesn't prescribe to any religion, so i was unbothered by it, but I can see it from both your view and the show's (assuming they were thinking along the lines I stated). Overall great review! And they totally should look to you as a consultant. The way you explained Satanism, occultism, and witchcraft, and how you would potentially incorporate them in the show sounded super interesting!
even though the show walks that fine line and depicts satanism from christian eyes, christians are still pissed about the show even going as far to call it "indocternation" so i mean... why not go all the way and depict satanism correctly.
Came here to hear your thoughts of the show Stayed for the information about magick/occult/satanism/kabbalah/Witchcraft. P.S: sorry if i wrote something wrong in my comment, i don't really know anything about these subjects.
Casual King I was literally just about to comment that! That’s one of the first things I noticed when I subscribed to Faust, now this Man Who Sold The World/Hunky Dory look really solidifies it. Also there’s a David Bowie picture at 6:18
I was waiting of this review, not because I want to know if chilling adventures of Sabrina is good (I watched it and I like it), but because I want to know more about occultism etc.... I hope in some time in the future you will make another youtube channel and you will bring us with you to jurney about proper knowleadge about occultism, satanism and witch craft. Or at least point us with good recources where we can find legitimate info (it is hard to find good books, youtube channels about it )
I love your videos so much!!!! Your so thorough and your accent makes it so much better too!! Lol I will say though that your videos are not showing up in my subscription box and the notifications. Keep it up !!!! Your doing a fantastic job!
OK first off, YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTION oh my god. Love you so much Faust. Secondly. This was such a good video. The entire thing from start to finish. On the subject of CAOS’ representation of the Occult, Witchcraft, and Satanism, I feel like they didn’t do much research because they felt like they didn’t need to. I feel like they wanted to go in a similar route to the comics to where it’s all of these things seen through a Christian’s eyes. Because let’s admit it all of these things are one in the same in their eyes. My grandmother who’s Christian thought astrology was witchcraft lmao. These views aren’t just exclusive to Christians either but it’s also been taken up by people who aren’t even Christian. So I think that they were just trying to do enough to get the normies attention instead of actually giving a proper representation. and since it is fictional they probably didn’t think anyone would care. I mean look at AHS for example. Anyways Great Review Faust. Thanks for Answering my Question.
This is why I love your channel, aside from the "trivia" or "review" like videos and the history ones, I always learn something new or expand upon something I have a notion of thanks to you :)
Was I the only one sort of offended by episode 2 use of homophobia? The whole "let's punish the football players by blackmailing them with photos of them making out" just didn't sit right with me when there are (obviously as we see in later episodes) sooo many other ways to punish people. And no I don't feel sorry for the ass hat jocks who bullied Susie but two wrongs don't make a right.
I've heard this before and I disagree. The witches in the show are utilitarian in their use of magic; the ends justify the means. Sabrina *_THINKS_* she is moral but she still retains that viewpoint of her upbringing. I would even go so far as to point out that the morality of the witches is most fully realized part of the satanism aspect of the show.
yesss i totally agree. i also believe its like "tasting your own medicine" in that the girls threaten to reveal the truth the boys so desperately try to hide which is later revealed by hilda. whereas they call suzy a boy and pull up their shirt as if something is wrong with them when in reality the boys havent accepted themselves. maybe im just reaching. but theres also the part where sabrina lynches prudence which has certain problematic undertones that i didnt realize until someone else pointed it out. and while these two things may not have been intended to show racism or homophobia they can be interpreted as such
There’s literally no reason to be offended by that at all. That’s just called being too sensitive. Like it or not that’s today’s society. Big boy jocks love to come across as straight as they can and reject anyone doing or saying otherwise. It was to have them experience something they’re against and to put them down to their underwear to humiliate them.
@@mistatrain2861 riiiight and in the same episode the sisters pretty much give them a permanent case if erectile dysfunction which is totally nothing compared to the homophobic pictures 😒 The point is the show clearly had other (and far more creative ways) to punish the jocks but took the easiest and homophobic way out. *You* don't have a to be an asshole about the situation. Just like other posters I'm clearly not the only one who felt put off by the scene as even Faust liked my post.. I guess we're all just overly sensitive 😃.
I didn’t care much for the first episode. It felt kinda rushed and badly scripted. It was the later episodes that grabbed my attention. I believe it was Sabrina’s love for her friends and sense of justice that ultimately took me by surprise. I would like to hear your thoughts on these episodes!
Hey hey! I subscribed to your videos because I loved your Runaways video you did that I watched during the summer and also because a week ago I watched your video on the character Wiccan (who I adore by the way). I've always been interested in mysticism especially the whole wicca thing since I was a kid. I loved the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Some episodes were indeed snoresville but I loved it. I loved the fact that Ambrose has a boyfriend in Luke. The show has so much more to explore I just hope they get a chance to do it in season 2!!! :)
Holy Snapple! I've watched your videos for forever and I love your channel. This video, despite my obsessive love for comics, has got to be my favorite. Your explanation of Satanism, Paganism, and Occultism just blew my mind not only because of how well explained it was, but also because I just realized I'm an occultist. I had no clue there was so much as a school of thought for what believed and I thought it was some stupid thing I made up so all religions could be valid. It's really encouraging to see my beliefs are the same as some other people's. Thank you so much and sorry if my wording is off I'm really excited right now. I'm definitely gonna do some more research on all three subjects.
Not only an amazing review, but also a very education video on occultism, satanism, and witch craft. I learned so much in that one section and your Linda Danvers supergirl history of video was my favorite from this year. And hopefully a company will pick up a project because I loved masters and creators and I would love to see you act
Wow I really really want to hear you talk more about Occultism, Witch Craft and all. I am so interested. You actually answered a lot of my questions without knowing.
I don't like that they give the power of sight to a blind person. It's cliché and overall disrespectful in my opinion. Also, i would've preferred that the Putnam family was the witch hunting family, to kind of show the roll masculinity played on the witch trials and to show how someone can drive away from [tradition] which is a theme on the series, and turn out okay. Making Harvey a witch hunter is, again.. A cliché, and adds nothing to the plot, they're already prohibited to be in love with a mortal, making him a witch hunter just gives the same obstacle and has no consequences.
@@Arcanepsycho no, they said they don't know if it was part of the curse or something they already have. Either way my point stands, narratively speaking; writers are using, compensating and negating a disability with a superpower. Like giving someone with a learning disability the power to instinctively understand everything, or telepathy to someone with a hearing impairment. However they explain it, they are giving sight to someone who's blind and or losing their vision and that not only is disrespectful to people's struggles but also is a missed opportunity for representation.
@@serenityq26 haha you look like a fun guy... Calling out on people about arguing about "small things" yet you get so worked up on someone's opinion lol literally everything you said applied to you... So.. Maybe you are trying to work out you self hatred
I liked the series; but I’m uncomfortable with all the “Praise Satan” remarks. I respect people’s religious beliefs; but I found no reasoning for witches to be enthralled with the devil.
@@vulbvibe which...was the point? Witches in horror films have always been based on Christian ideas of them, they don't pretend to represent real pagans
I just want to take the time to say thank u Faust for putting so much work into your videos to make us happy. Keep it up and I might not be psychic but I see millions of substances your future
Say I'm about the start making a fan comic with Klarion as the main character. Though in this iteration he's eight years old and instead of tekel being his familiar she's an ancient cat sith does anyone know any good books for research on Scottish lore and the fae folk?
Thank you so much. I love shows that feature Witch Craft, Luciferan, and Occultism but most are inaccurate or literally evil. I love Harry Potter J.k Rowling but even I can see why she is criticized. The misrepresentation of the magical world in fiction is prevalent. You can find elements of Wicca in Game of Thrones but it is tolerable because it is subtle. (The Maid, The Matron, and the Crone)
@@stupidityisadiseasegetwell5175 I know it is not the only form. I could Garderian, Neo Druidism, Druidism, Neo Paganism, Hermetic Orders and as well as Satanism. Not to mention the solitary practitioners who don't follow and particular an ism or group. Most people really can't tell the difference between the groups witchcraft for the most part.
Hey faust, do you have any recommendations for books or other sources to learn about Satanism, Occultism, Witchcraft etc? I've been curious about it for a long time and i don't know where is a good place to start.
@@ItsSuperEffective thanks! I read the first volume of promethea and loved it! I am familiar with the basics of occultic thinking because of my history with Alan Moore and Grant Morrison's creations (although i have yet to finish "the invisibles") and it seems like such an interesting way of thought that i wish to explore more in-depth than simply browsing through wikipedia pages. Also, i love your content and the way you construct and edit your videos. I haven't watched your "seven soliders" videos yet due to me not reading it yet and not wanting spoilers but it's clear that you put your soul into everything you make.
I viewed the way they did satanism (while absolutely inaccurate to what satanism really is) as a criticism on catholicism. Most of this being corruption in the leaders of the church, the baptism of a baby, etc.
Faust, hi! I'm one of your subscribers here on YT. Just want to say, I couldn't find your video when you discussed in passing about human beings with defects and formed a group or a team and were considered superheroes because they were able to help others. I think that was that. Sorry i didn't follow because i was busy doing thesis for my college. Can you elaborate on that part or possibly make a video because i totally lost the sense to it and i feel like it was cut short because you're discussing the history of something else. Especially now with the advent of "The Unbreakable", "Split" and "Glass" in one common room discussing about their defects or abnormalities... feat. Mr. Glass, allegedly the mastermind... i really think they are somewhat related to your topic last time - remember when you told us about "there are other group of superheroes that are yet to be discovered or uncovered"?... i really think this group is one of them. and i'm rooting for it. I really think someone like you should take a good look on this one. Please make a review or a video on it 'cause i gladly appreciate how you narrate stories from comics.
I actually learned that sowain (I think that is how it's spelled) is actually a tradition on all Hallows eve that involves a big great fire that they sacrifice food to their gods and have a big feast where in Irish tradition they would set out a plate of food on the table for their ancestors and put out the extra food outside for the faeries and pookas
Hey ItsSuperEffective, I'm a long time viewer of your stuff and I really like your content. As to the problems with representation of less than mainstream belief systems in the show I think that they were mostly trying to barrow the aesthetic of the occult witchcraft and Satanism and apply that to the American folklore concept of what witchcraft is. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't have done more research into them, especially on the part of using images that are copyrighted, but I don't think the show wanted to be any kind of real world belief system, which I guess opens up it's own set of problems and isn't an excuse but I think that's the reasoning behind it anyway
Well, like I said in the video, if they didn't want to use a real world belief system, they shouldn't have used holidays, deities, and imagery from real world belief systems.
I actually really liked episode 5 mainly because Iam a big fan of Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel, episode 5 of sabrina took me back to that monster of the week format I know it had its problems and it was kind of a stop in momentum of the show, and yeah there were a lot of plots that were started but never wrapped up this season, maybe it was the nostalgia and the song which is one of my favorite songs ever, the episode might of worked if they had done 13 episodes to further explore the aftermath of episode 5 and flesh out everything they started.
I enjoyed your video. I never actually leave comments but I wanted to for this one. First let me say I 100% agree that episode 5 was just bad. I've re-watched the season multiple times and I always skip #5. Second, THANK YOU for explicitly stating the proper pronunciation of Samhain! It drives me insane to hear it said as it's spelled. Third it's great the way you explained the different belief structures in just enough detail. I myself am a Pagan so I personally appreciated that. Most Christians adamantly and aggressively believe (and while try to force said belief) the 3 are one in the same. And lastly, I think someone who is Christian wrote and or directed this... It it the only logical reason that they got so much wrong with the different beliefs...and are being sued over the statue. But again as I said, great video!
This was a really good review of the show and you made EXCELLENT points (and I'm so sending this to the writers and Netflix on Twitter lol they need it) but as a witch I only have one small point to add yes many witches believe in the triple Goddess and her many incarnations but the "what you send out comes back x 3" is only one belief within the community so some believe it does and therefore only follow "a path of light" (see what I did there lol ok I'll stop now) ie not cursing, hexing, or otherwise using witchcraft to hurt others while other don't believe it at all and freely curse and he at their leisure and have a "balanced" approach so to speak in the sense that not all hexes or curses are bad because they're used for good if that makes sense, and other are all "dark" and use witchcraft to actively do bad. Anyway just wanted to add my 2cents 😂 like I said your review was very good either way because you got the gist of it
Hi So I actually got into witchcraft in depth, stupidly so, in my original version of this video. But, I stripped it down to the “core” of the belief system. In the original version I even get into how the three goddesses play a role in Wicca, Paganism, and Neopaganism, but the importance of their role varies greatly, and I even had a whole segment on the green man. But ultimately, such nuance wasn’t relevant in a video that’s ultimately about reviewing a TV show, so I just needed to keep the basics. While I’m not a witch in the traditional sense, witchcraft is my main focus when it comes to occultism, just because, I’m from Scotland, witchcraft is literally my heritage lmfao, and my family were all witches before my mum became involved with occultism in a general sense, and broke the chain. So, with witchcraft, I know way more than I think the internet will ever give a person credit for (because everyone thinks they know more than everyone else about witchcraft online and it’s stupidly toxic lol). But yeah, please just keep in mind, this was ultimately a TV show review that got into the sheer basics of these belief systems, and not a witchcraft documentary.
Yeah I definitely realize that and even though I'm a witch I don't by any means think ik everything, far from it lmao like my knowledge is so sporadic I just sound like ik what I'm talking about 😂 and I personally like the show and plan on rewatching it and definitely want a season two, but yeah you definitely got the core beliefs right and I understand that you have to edit a lot with videos so I get that like I said loved your review of everything and they definitely need you a writer and producer on the show
I feel kinda bad just assuming things about witchcraft and satanism and just not knowing about religion in general, and that other religion sounds amazing(not occultism )
Seeing that The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was going to be a sister show for Riverdale i can see where some of the hang over plot points are still there but have nowhere to go now. Seeing that the two shows were going to play off each other. so if Sabrina gets a season 2 things may change. Hopefully, we'll have to wait and see. Great review, a okay show.
Unfortunately i stop the series after episode 1 lol. I guess i just dont have the will to continue 😅 But on the bright side, after i drop sabrina, i binge The Haunting Of Hill House and started watching these new anime about archery, running and sumo (love me some good looking bois being all buddy buddy ifyouknowwhatimean) But im thankful for this vid. Gives me more insight on the series and you talk more about occultism, satanism and witches! I love it when you do that.
@11:06 LOL I had no idea they were doing that; I know at this point the church of satan is rather far removed from Lavey, and most dont practice *mysticism/magic, but im pretty sure he subscribed to the more your Sigils and symbology are out there, the more powerful they become. Unless this is a whole ironic ploy to get more eyes on their statue. pretty funny either way
@@ItsSuperEffective ya I know, most of my Laveyan friends mock the church satan for being far removed from the spirit of santanism, (espc. the more recent move toward mundanity and away of mysticism and sorcery) I was just pointing out the almost cosmic dramatic irony
I'd definitely be interested in an episode by episode review. I don't know what it is about TH-camrs in general that think the fans don't like long videos. The average music video is like 3~4 minutes (and change) long. The average TH-camr video is easily 10+ minutes long and we stick around for that. If you put it out there and it's *good* we will enjoy it!
Can you recommend a video or a book about satanism, occultism and witchcraft. Preferably one that is available worldwide or in South America pleaseeeeee>.
There's not really a book that exists that's like "here are all the mystical things", but, Promethia by Alan Moore is a great introduction to occultistic thinking!
This felt different from the other videos but I still like it. I hope you can make the videos you like and worked hard for years to come, unless you get a acting role for one of your favorite characters.
I know you won’t probably see this but thanks you, as someone who identifies as a satanist it was a bit frustrated, I think I could power through because AHS made me so mad this season by straight up putting LaVey as a character.
I understand that, but still you are doing god’s work (heh) by doing this, so many people lately are talking about this topic without even reading the Wikipedia entry...it’s mind numbing. You are fricking fantastic because of this.
The fact that the statue was copyrighted does nothing to the fact it, tbe image of Baphomet, is pretty much in public domain. I believe that the use of the statue was plain oversight because of that fact....
Edit...yes sn aware it's the inclusion of the children in the statue that is den narrative if it being a singular recognizable version cioywritten here. And agree if they had had been a bit more through would of understood what they did was problematical. But it's obviously not done knows nyly just thoughtlessly....
Just wondering, do you think that the comics misrepresented witchcraft/Satan worship/occultism or is it not as much of a thing in the comics because they have their own thing
There are more comics than there are TV shows (if we include indie and web comics) so I think its more common for comics to both misrepresent, and accurately represent these belief systems, just because of the sheer number of them that exist.
I get that some folks are upset the religious representation, but I don't think it was meant to be a direct translation of Satanism, Wiccan, or Occultism. But I think it's more to be a general representation of religion. The Church of night has people across the moral spectrum. Some generally care for one another and use their faith to take care of those they love, while others are using it to get what they want from others and the world around them. All the while invoking the subconscious fears of those that don't really understand those religions.
Episode 5... and it wasnt just that episode, it bored me. I think because its a few really long episodes instead of a lot of smaller episodes, it was awkward to have what felt like “filler” episodes. I felt the same about the part where she brought harveys brother back. Of course it was trying to set up a larger story but it felt more like something like young dracula. With satanism its interesting because they talked about freedom and laveyan satanism. But like if rather than a fake out it would have been so much more interesting if they showed the bad sides of that...
My thoughts exactly I love this show but I didn't like some aspects of episode 5 like wtf also thanks for bringing up the differences between the occult, Satanism, witchcraft.
If you want to see the ultimate example of acting through makeup, watch(and REVIEW) Doom Patrol... Some of the best acting I have ever seen on TV(let alone a superhero show)!
I like your review except for one thing they don’t cram all the religions into one thing it’s a cult of witches who worships Satan that’s the whole premise of the show I think you missed the point
I don't know if you noticed but in one of the later episodes after episode 5 one of the classes Sabrina took had the words Conjuring class on the chalkboard
I did, but my issue is they went to all the effort of showing us that Sabrina has to figure out this puzzle box, and yet, we didn't get to experience the reward side of it as the audience. That is something that we HAVE to be shown and told.
I would like to point out that goddess worship is more Wicca. Witches is a catch-all type for pagans or wiccans. Though some of us don't use that term due to the negativity attached to it. But ty for this review! I agree with most of it lol.
I honestly LOVE the show, but the misrepresentation of satanisim/occultism/witchcraft did bug me a bit. (I also hate episode 5 for the same reasons lol, they had this whole episode that could've been full of a bunch of cool plotpoints but never talked about anything in the episode again. Ugh.)
The reason why they combined witchcraft, satanism, and occultism is because they were playing off the idea of the people being trialed in the Salem witch trials actually doing the things they were accused of and the practices lasted up to present day. (Sorry if that didn't make any sense I tried my best to explain it)
That exact design, you haven’t, but different interpretations, yes. The reason they’re being sued is for the use for the design, not the general image.
BEST review about this show I have seen so far. I agree so much with everything you say, chapter 5 was the worst one and from 6 on it got better and better. The producers from CAOS should really hire you as consultant, so much knowledge in 23 min 02 sec. You actually got me interested in learning more about occultism as there are things you said I have thought about. THANK YOU.
While I do agree with you with misrepresenting Satanism, I still love what they established on the show. I think episode 5 was kinda off track but it really showed off the deepest darkest fears of all the characters. I loved every episode of the show, I fell in love with the characters within the first episode. It was great seeing everything coming together in episode 7 that everyone share a history. I think the aesthetic of the show is beautiful, the set design, the costumes. The very high budget cinematic feel. It kinda filled my Stranger Things void too, not quite there yet though.
I think one of my biggest qualms with the show was how _heavy-handed_ the feminism and equality aspect was. They seriously caked it on in the earlier episodes, particularly the first one. It didn't feel like something natural, and it ended up taking me out of the story. I wish they would've been more fluid and subtle with it. Make it look like it _belongs_ in the world and aids the story. Don't make it so blatantly obvious and loud that it slaps me in the face and carries me away from the plot. No, this doesn't mean I hate feminism or equality aspects in media. What I hate is when it's shoved in my face like an outrageous cake-topper as opposed to being seamlessly baked into the cake itself. It's much more believable for the story you're telling when you _don't_ approach it with blunt force trauma. A good example is Steven Universe. It doesn't scream it's ideals in your face. It has them woven into the narrative to the point where they feel perfectly natural and at no point do you question them or get taken out of the story they're trying to tell.
I liked the series but as a practicing Wiccan did have a problem with how the witchcraft was portrayed. I kept having to remind myself that this was Salem witch trials rules for witches. I like how you fully addressed that what they did was not witchcraft at all. *spoiler warning* my biggest problem with the show was with the Tommy resurrection plot. they seemed to recognize necromancy came with a price but all the Agatha and Dorcuse had to do was use a spell to try and kill Tommy and Harvey. there was no price other than slamming rocks on a poppet. also, they didn't seem to have a clear motivation for murder. yes, they killed a familiar, but they didn't know that. they thought it was a normal deer. so does any human who accidentally kills a familiar deserves to die. that probably happens a lot. I'm surprised there seems to be no rumors stage creature in the woods. sorry, I understand story wise why it was there, but I think the execution of that plot was a bit sloppy at the beginning.
Honestly I don't mind longer discussion videos but you can always break them up per episode and just do a few minutes vid per episode if you really feel lumping it all together is too much for those with a short attention span. But I greatly enjoy deep dives into the details and definitely wouldn't be opposed to hearing your take on things.
I really love the show so much and I finished ever single episodes but when i started watching it I hated EVERY SINGLE BITS of it that I almost stopped watching it, because it feels like it's pointlessly going everywhere and nowhere at the same time and things are so unclear and so confusing but that got a lot better after episode 6 as you say.
Great video Faust. I have to say I'm not too religious but the satan worship made me a bit uncomfortable. But to be honest I kept watching because gosh Nicolas is so damn hot. But I really ended up really liking the show and I actually rewatch it.
Would you ever consider reviewing/talking about esoteric Cinema done right? considering the difficulty of visually representing mysticism and occultism, I'd love for you to show and talk about a film that does it right (maybe more deep dives too like 'Simon, King of the Witches')
I agree w u v v much, but I’m hoping their eventual critique or conclusion will be of the misogynistic paths of Wicca, and their inclusion of Aleister Crowley in the comic as the high priest and how controlling and cruel his leadership is (and of course in the show he is the reason ambrose gets into trouble and is on house arrest for decades) but I’m off on many tangents. Crowley and levey were dodgy individuals from the research I have done and in CAOS they seem to imply that male leadership of the coven has distorted things, but the continual mention of the “dark lord” and how Sabrina is trapped from her own free will needs to be explained. I think if they are able to show that the coven has been hijacked or warped by the high priest and the scorned Lilith somehow and they get rid of the statue things could be okay because right now I see the high priest as a representative for men who abuse their liberties and free will far too much, a bit like Crowley - and I hope this is the angle they go with
It gets tiresome for Non-Satanists bringing up their problems towards Satanic themes in our defense, that aren't really our problems when it comes to the injustices that we face in real life. As Satanists, many of us enjoy the fictional realm of Devil Worship and love tCoS. "Why do many people speak for Satanists when they don't ask us directly?" LaVey The show depicts the practices and mass that you commonly see in Catholicism, and depicts their beliefs like the accused stories claimed in New England centuries ago when accusing those of being witches. Besides the illegal depicted use of our Baphomet statue, many Satanists enjoy this fictional series, because we understand and view all imaginary beliefs and media like this as exactly that: fictional. An outsider misinforming things about a community of people, is more patronizing than it is helpful.
Welcome to the small minded judgemental World ...you're not alone in the hate or the bad mouthing....stuff doesn't change overnight we'rre slogging uphill of 2000 years of momentum and misapprehension and propaganda ....it's gotten a little better but those followers of the OneGod just won't give over and accept their time is done....and sometimes I hear they will end it all just to not have to give up the Power they've gotten used to...
In my opinion if they would have focused in making the dream sequences psychedelic it would have been irrelevant to the whole plot. Plus the whole purpose of their dreams wasn’t to “ digest their subconscious thoughts” it was used as a torture method for the Demon. it would have been interesting to make a dream sequence psychedelic or something inspired by jodorowsky if they would have Focus on one character.
Hey guys!!
Thanks so much for watching, and being patient while I made this review!! I wanted to make sure I went in properly understanding Satanism before I spoke on it, so I had to do some research, which obviously took a while!!
I just want to clarify some things -
1) I used the Symbol of Chaos Magick to represent the Occult, as chaos Magick is a practice exclusively done by occultists, and not done in any religion or belief system, however, some occultists do not like this symbol, and feel it doesn't represent them, so please keep that in mind!!
-------------
6) The Church of Satan has replied to the lawsuit.
Episode by episodes
Hi love you and we are getting a season 2
What is Kabbalah
Send this video to the producers! XD
ItsSuperEffective please make a video about A force please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also if u make a video of A force I want a shoutout
I want to see the episode by episode review
I second this!
Yes please! This is a fantastic idea, I'd love to learn more about this.
@@asteri8299 lol true enough.
Came here to hear your thoughts of the show
Stayed for the information about magick/occult/satanism/kabbalah/Witchcraft.
P.S: sorry if i wrote something wrong in my comment, i don't really know anything about these subjects.
Mad Lad Of Shimano i practice witchcraft as well! What type of witch are you
You look like David Bowie to me.
He looks like David Bowie to me
Doesn't he look like David Bowie to me
This human beings appearance reminds me of David Bowie.
The Man Who Sold The World.
Casual King I was literally just about to comment that! That’s one of the first things I noticed when I subscribed to Faust, now this Man Who Sold The World/Hunky Dory look really solidifies it. Also there’s a David Bowie picture at 6:18
I love how you know so much about occultism and witchcraft, and also Satanism. I'm Christian, but I do a lot of research on those topics.
Or at least point us with good recources where we can find legitimate info (it is hard to find good books, youtube channels about it )
Check Half-price Books, eBay or Amazon
I totally agree with you. I thought I was the only one
@@mistatrain2861 riiiight and in the same episode the sisters pretty much give them a permanent case if erectile dysfunction which is totally nothing compared to the homophobic pictures
😒
The point is the show clearly had other (and far more creative ways) to punish the jocks but took the easiest and homophobic way out.
I love how much research you put into the clarification between the three points. Good job and good video !
Psicoolty they didn't give the power of sight to a blind person. Their family (females) have sight because they were cursed by witches to be blind.
Witches aren’t they’re pagan. They didn’t really do any research and tied them to satan based on a common Christian prejudice.
So like random question have you ever done a video on persona 5 after its release?
Pleeease make some videos of occultism and witchcraft, I need it in my life 😭😭😭
Thank you so much.
It's a fictional world get the fuck over it.
Whitney Mohrhauser y’all act like Wicca is the only form of witchcraft, it’s so fucking annoying
@@stupidityisadiseasegetwell5175 Good point
@@stupidityisadiseasegetwell5175 I know it is not the only form. I could Garderian, Neo Druidism, Druidism, Neo Paganism, Hermetic Orders and as well as Satanism. Not to mention the solitary practitioners who don't follow and particular an ism or group. Most people really can't tell the difference between the groups witchcraft for the most part.
Good point there
Hey faust, do you have any recommendations for books or other sources to learn about Satanism, Occultism, Witchcraft etc? I've been curious about it for a long time and i don't know where is a good place to start.
Promethia by Alan Moore is a great intro to occultistic thinking!
I’d also recommend Psychomagick by Jodorowsky!
Most of this being corruption in the leaders of the church, the baptism of a baby, etc.
carlie right to the point. Absolutely agree! This is like a parody of traditional Christianity, real Satanism does not think like that.
I actually learned that sowain (I think that is how it's spelled) is actually a tradition on all Hallows eve that involves a big great fire that they sacrifice food to their gods and have a big feast where in Irish tradition they would set out a plate of food on the table for their ancestors and put out the extra food outside for the faeries and pookas
please please PLEASE do an updated review, I loved your wisdom. The final chapter is coming Dec. 31st!
1 month ago? Faust are you ok? we miss videos from you!! 😀
Anyway just wanted to add my 2cents 😂 like I said your review was very good either way because you got the gist of it
Hi
So I actually got into witchcraft in depth, stupidly so, in my original version of this video.
It’d be awesome to see you make a video of occultism and witchcraft explaining it cause I wanna learn and understand
Rosalita Boyd Netflix ordered 2 seasons when they bought the rights from the cw. They are currently filming season 2.
Unfortunately i stop the series after episode 1 lol.
I guess i just dont have the will to continue 😅
But on the bright side, after i drop sabrina, i binge The Haunting Of Hill House and started watching these new anime about archery, running and sumo (love me some good looking bois being all buddy buddy ifyouknowwhatimean)
But im thankful for this vid. Gives me more insight on the series and you talk more about occultism, satanism and witches! I love it when you do that.
Love your videos! I hope you do another video about the comics of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina!
I'm covering the other 4 issues soon!
Love your videos, what are your thoughts on the live action Teen Titans?
You've got alot of knowledge about religions and various ideologies. Thank you for sharing.
@11:06 LOL I had no idea they were doing that; I know at this point the church of satan is rather far removed from Lavey, and most dont practice *mysticism/magic, but im pretty sure he subscribed to the more your Sigils and symbology are out there, the more powerful they become. Unless this is a whole ironic ploy to get more eyes on their statue. pretty funny either way
The people who are doing it aren't a part of Laveyan Satanism, they're their own group! (Although the teachings are basically identical tbh)
@@ItsSuperEffective ya I know, most of my Laveyan friends mock the church satan for being far removed from the spirit of santanism, (espc. the more recent move toward mundanity and away of mysticism and sorcery) I was just pointing out the almost cosmic dramatic irony
you guys should follow Faust in Instagram
Thank you 🙏
This felt different from the other videos but I still like it.
Yeah.
In the original version of this video, I end up going on a 15 minute AHS rant, but I cut it, because it wasn't relevant.
I understand that, but still you are doing god’s work (heh) by doing this, so many people lately are talking about this topic without even reading the Wikipedia entry...it’s mind numbing.
You are fricking fantastic because of this.
We are also very proud of the quality of your video content lately
The fact that the statue was copyrighted does nothing to the fact it, tbe image
of Baphomet, is pretty much in public domain.
Do you ever plan to maybe do a video on "Afterlife with Archie"?
Your Hair looks great !
damn, 2 years later and listening to this you hit a lot of key plot points right on the head
Thank you for educating people on these religions 🙌🏻❤️
I like your review except for one thing they don’t cram all the religions into one thing it’s a cult of witches who worships Satan that’s the whole premise of the show I think you missed the point
I don't know if you noticed but in one of the later episodes after episode 5 one of the classes Sabrina took had the words Conjuring class on the chalkboard
I did, but my issue is they went to all the effort of showing us that Sabrina has to figure out this puzzle box, and yet, we didn't get to experience the reward side of it as the audience. That is something that we HAVE to be shown and told.
Have you seen Titans yet? What do you think of it? I think the chances their made "make sence", but maybe weren't the smartest solution..
Ugh.)
They should hire you!
The reason why they combined witchcraft, satanism, and occultism is because they were playing off the idea of the people being trialed in the Salem witch trials actually doing the things they were accused of and the practices lasted up to present day. (Sorry if that didn't make any sense I tried my best to explain it)
I have questions about the practice of witchcraft can anyone answer them with factual info plz
I can agree with you about this they need to fix these problems I've seen The Witcher they could've take some reference from The Witcher tv show.
Do you have any work of fiction that represent witchcraft and occultism in a very accurate way for someone who doesn't know anything about it?
Promethia by Alan Moore!
Another beautiful video. Thank-you!
Wow I feel so educated, and I really want to see the episode by episode review
I may be wrong, but I could swear I've seen images of that statue in issues of Hellblazer or Swamp Thing.
That exact design, you haven’t, but different interpretations, yes.
The reason they’re being sued is for the use for the design, not the general image.
can you do a more in depth explanation/review on occultism and its history.
THANK YOU.
That intro. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Had me dying
21:50 REALLY?! that video is actually one of my favorites!
That one comment was right: you basically look like David Bowie with long hair, no doubt about it, and that is a great thing. Also, RIP David Bowie.
REVIEW MARVEL RUNAWAYS SEASON 2 !!! i’m so obsessed with it
While I do agree with you with misrepresenting Satanism, I still love what they established on the show.
Alexandro Jodorowsky reference....more points!!!, love this channel
Being a dedicated Christian and watching the show was so uncomfortable and weird. But I still loved it and I'm going to stick around for season 2
Actually they’re filming episode 7 of season 2 right now
I'm from Louisiana please do a little bit more research on Voodoo I'd be very grateful! Thank u
Totally agree with you about episode 5, it’s the worst episode and was just painful to get through.
Thanks for the great explanations.
Great video Faust. I have to say I'm not too religious but the satan worship made me a bit uncomfortable. But to be honest I kept watching because gosh Nicolas is so damn hot. But I really ended up really liking the show and I actually rewatch it.
Yay a new video prudence is my fav but I can do without susie
Would you ever consider reviewing/talking about esoteric Cinema done right? considering the difficulty of visually representing mysticism and occultism, I'd love for you to show and talk about a film that does it right (maybe more deep dives too like 'Simon, King of the Witches')
I've done two videos on Jodorowsky, but I don't think I'll be doing more than that lmfao
I think I would like to see an episode-by-episode.
I think if they are able to show that the coven has been hijacked or warped by the high priest and the scorned Lilith somehow and they get rid of the statue things could be okay because right now I see the high priest as a representative for men who abuse their liberties and free will far too much, a bit like Crowley - and I hope this is the angle they go with
Damn my notification fooked up
You should update a review of the show I like your comments about it
It gets tiresome for Non-Satanists bringing up their problems towards Satanic themes in our defense, that aren't really our problems when it comes to the injustices that we face in real life. As Satanists, many of us enjoy the fictional realm of Devil Worship and love tCoS.
"Why do many people speak for Satanists when they don't ask us directly?" LaVey
The show depicts the practices and mass that you commonly see in Catholicism, and depicts their beliefs like the accused stories claimed in New England centuries ago when accusing those of being witches.
I felt the show finished strong; Madam Satan (the Robert Hack version) is my fave comic book villain and they nailed her.
