I would love to see just once a vampire romance where the teenage main girl asks the vampire how long he's been 17 and he replies "30 years" and it gets awkward as she realizes she's just dating a young looking middle aged man.
The thing is, the human wouldn't mind because she would get a mature guy in a young body. Perfect! But the vampire would get bored very quickly with an immature human. That's why the relationship wouldn't last.

As someone with ADHD, whenever a series includes mind control, I always wonder if I could, for example, just pay a vampire to compel me to study for exams or get started on projects. If yes, they can just take my blood in exchange for never needing medication again, I'll probably forget anyway. If not, it's very funny to imagine a vampire getting frustrated because they keep trying to compel me to do their dirty work and I keep insisting I'll get around to it but they didn't explain it very well and I got nervous about screwing up and started procrastinating.
OMFG I THINK THIS ALL THE TIME LMAO and also I'm a recovering addict and I used to imagine what if they just compelled me to not be an addict anymore pls :'(
Honestly the whole "people will notice they're not aging" thing only works if you stay in the same place for like, 15+ years? Plenty of time to raise a child. You can just say you have a good skincare routine. It's so weird when vampire media has them moving like, every other year because "people noticed I wasn't aging" like dude it's been A YEAR and age is a GRADUAL CHANGE that is VERY HARD TO NOTICE AS IT HAPPENS
Like even if they're suspicious what are they gonna do about it lol if you live anywhere but this one racist town in virginia that believes in vampires no one would even think of calling you one
Everyone keeps talking about how Tom Cruise or whoever hasn't aged, they don't start taking about burning him at the stake. Maybe they just got bored of making up bullshit skincare routines.
If we're generous and assume that they actually look 17 in-universe and are pretending to be 17 then sure, but why would you? Say you're graduated and just look young. Going to school for the rest of your life is a hell of a disturbing lifestyle choice, come to think of it.
"Chill myself?" "What is that stoner talk?" This show deserves an Emmy. Whatever they're paying the 80 year old man who wrote that line, it isn't enough.
@@PanAndScanBuddy If I was an 800 year old vampire writing for a tv show about vampires I too would be bad at my job, on purpose. For my own amusement.
I wish pizza vampire wasn't invited in and he just kept going on to be the pizza guy full time until a couple seasons later when pizza is ordered at that house again
I'm so glad she dug into that. I remember thinking how unrealistic that scene was as I watched it, but I never really thought through all the planning and stalking and pizza-guy killing and then delivery of the actual pizza that this villain went through to even get to the point where Jeremy would unrealistically invite him in. Hilarious. Also, of course it was Jeremy who would do that.
The whole "a vampire can't go into a house without being invited' thing, would have done Bella some good, with Edward coming into her room and watching her sleep
True Blood also used this piece of lore and I enjoyed that. Especially when people would have to say the line "I rescind my invitation" as angrily and dramatically as possible, and then the vampire would involuntarily run out of the house at Flash speed. Also, it's funny that they deliberately threw out other very common pieces of vampire lore - garlic doesn't affect them, crosses don't affect them, I think you can still see them in mirrors IIRC, etc. - yet kept THAT, of all things.
@@doubletrouble5448 true, but Friendly Space Ninja points out a tiny gem: vampires no longer age, physically _or_ mentally, after they've been turned. Imagine being 17 and thinking like you're 17 for the rest of forever. I remember being 17. I hope no-one else remembers me being 17. 😬🥴😅

Purely liking for the transition from Bonnie saying "this year is gonna be kickass" to Elena having multiple mental breakdowns and witnessing the deaths of EVERYONE she loves....magical
She leaves out the part where Bonnie is trapped alone in a prison world and eventually driven to suicide. The writers basically used her as a human punching bag.
But they always went running to her when things hit the fan. It was so crazy how when Elena lost her brother she was allowed to grieve and push it aside in such a horrible way doing bad things to people but when Bonnie lost her grams she had to help them out straight away and that happened anytime she was going through something.
@@allegraanegra455 Bonnie suffers and swallows so much. She is the true tragic hero. How she put up with the lot calling themselves her friends is beyond me. Me in her place? I would have turned them into toads at some point. Elena, my oh my..... No matter who or how or what Rebekka is/was, Elenas murder of her was pure evil.
I'm not implying anything,, but I feel like the storyline of the one main BIPOC character in these 2000s-early 2010s shows always has a relatively simple story.
I'm a black woman, was a teen watching vampire diaries and fell in love with show. Bonnie of course was my fave, and loved seeing someone like me as a strong witch. However, I did wonder why Bonnie and Damon never happened, actually wondered why Bonnie was either not on screen or every relationship she had was a failure or they died. Now that i'm older (still watching vampire diaries till this day) and I understood why and what happened to kat graham, really makes me sad. They didn't give her character what she deserved smh
She was such a hit and miss character, they could have done so so much with her and it always made be angry that every time they didn't know what to do they just killed her or some family of hers and sent her off screen
Same (except Im white so I will not pretend that it affected me the same way of course) but Bonnie was literally one of the few characters I did like. I loved her style and personality (as it was a lot closer to me than Elena), I loved that she was a witch and was super powerful. And she actually had good chemistry with Daemon, way better (imo) than Elena. I dont HATE Elena at all of course, but Bonnie feels more like an actual person.

I know nothing about this topic, was actively put off by vampires for years during the craze, and am invested a massive sized helping of 0% into this story, and it's characters but I will nod along in agreement the entire time
Bonnie was the best character wdym?? The fact that she was so powerful and sacrificed her happiness and literal LIFE every time was so heartbreaking. Kat played her so well and her emotions were so raw.
They did almost every poc dirty, tyler technically isn't poc for some reason, but Michael Trevino was done dirty, same with Marcel in the originals and so on

Both Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham have said in interviews that they repeatedly asked writers and producers to allow Damon and Bonnie to have an endgame romantic relationship. Of course they were always denied.

My friend and I joked about a 'lost episode' where the National Wildlife Federation comes to Mystic Falls to investigate why they have a 50,000% higher wildlife-related death rate compared to every county in the entire world. Damon would fake alliance with them, and Bonnie would make up a new ability to save the day, of course.

Back in the 1930s-1950s, every Hollywood studio had what was known as its own "house style", because each studio cranked out over 40 movies per year, mostly with the same slate of actors, directors and writers under contract. By the 1960s, the studios mostly distributed independently produced films, so no longer had a distinct house style anymore (except for Disney which was still producing every film in-house in those days). I've seen the modern Hallmark Channel compared to old Hollywood, in that they likewise produce about 40 films per year, all using the same production company, and a slate of recurring actors, and most of the movies have the same style.

You can just say you have a good skincare routine. It's so weird when vampire media has them moving like, every other year because "people noticed I wasn't aging" like dude it's been A YEAR and age is a GRADUAL CHANGE that is VERY HARD TO NOTICE AS IT HAPPENS

True Blood also used this piece of lore and I enjoyed that. Especially when people would have to say the line "I rescind my invitation" as angrily and dramatically as possible, and then the vampire would involuntarily run out of the house at Flash speed. @@washedblue Same happens with the music world, the reality is that you only need a catching asset and that's enough for an audience, entertainment sadly or not isn't something to get philosophical lectures and deep intel from.
@@washedblue yeah that’s basically it.

"Take naps. Kill the devil. Get a boyfriend." should definitely have been the show's tag line

"I'm so sick of crying" kinda sounded more like the actor criticizing her own character's writing than an actually written line.
Still doesn't hold a candle to "I think I still need to be drunk to understand this story" which I'm not sure made it into this video (only 18 minutes in thus far)
The wonderful thing about Jenny's multi-hour video era is how rewatchable it is. There are gems that I've missed on previous viewings, like what stood out to me this time:
