I've find that newer places are much noisier than I prefer. Sandwiches were probably made way ahead which is very sad. With you on reserving the name clotted cream for the actual product. Thanks for this review!
I don't know if you remember me, but I was thinking about you this past week, so it's so funny you just published this video! Last week I determined I was going to try once again making clotted cream and scones (now that I have a newly remodeled kitchen!). I filmed all of it and hope to one day publish videos of my scientific experiments with scone making and clotted cream making! I was thinking of you as I was attempting to get the clotted cream thick enough without overcook it or under cooking it! You gave me advice after you had done your clotted cream video😊
A nice place will keep sandwiches (if they are even pre-made) covered with damp towel or damp paper towelling. I would have said something about the stale bread. Politely, of course but I would have. Also, the noise! That level of noise would only happen here, not in France. I appreciate your reviews!
Thank you so much for this review! I actually live not far from this restaurant, and we did have dinner there a couple years ago. It was French food, and I didn't realize they did British afternoon tea! I have a couple close friends who have birthdays in December, so at the beginning of the video I was thinking about taking them there for afternoon tea. Both of these women live in Frisco and came with their hubbies to visit my husband me in England this past summer ! It would be the perfect birthday celebration to have afternoon tea. But I am a bit disappointed that the sandwiches were stale and the clotted cream wasn't actually clotted cream... I might have to make my own afternoon tea 😊
A friend and I went last year to afternoon tea and enjoyed ourselves but nothing seems to be memorable. I have had lunch twice at La Parisienne and the noise can be a real problem.
Cold tea and stale bread? Oh dear. Pretty fundamental. I suppose not too many people would know what real clotted cream is and maybe the restaurant don’t either so they get away with it until an expert turns up. Makes me wonder how authentic their French Bistro style food is too! ETA Just checked their dinner menu… Frittata? That’s Italian. The French have omelettes, not frittata. And calamari is Italian too 🤭.
Just started watching. What will afternoon tea at La Parisienne be like? Will the food and service be a delight or a disappointment? Can't wait to see. Back to the video. More anon. Table looks well laid out. Tea service is pretty. Good selection of tea's on the menu. I'll have the breakfast tea. If I was in a Chinese restaurant I might choose the green tea. (No sugar or milk in green tea of course). I'll be ordering the vegetarian Tea. Cucumber sandwiches look ok, but I prefer chives in my cream cheese. I do wonder why children's menus everywhere are full of unhealthy choices. It teaches them bad habits. Oh, I do like the serving stand. It's an unusual design. Those pastries do look mouth watering. The sandwiches? I'm a crust left on person. The crusts are my favourite part. I'd say the goats cheese would be better with chives or spring onions. The cucumber was cut nice and fancy. As soon as I saw those scones I thought they looked a bit pale and pasty on top. Pasty pastry. lol The apple scones looked a lot better. Not real clotted cream. Oh dear. You'll have to teach them how to make it Sonya. They gave you jam and 'clotted' cream without knives? How did they expect you to put it on the scones? (I'd say that calls for a reduction in the tip). There should be someone that checks the tables for cutlery or the plates before they go out. The top layer of cakes looked inviting. The gold flakes are a nice touch. No fork?? (Further reduction in tip). The loud noise reminded me of school dinners. Tea not hot???!!! (No tip at all). Whenever I make sandwiches for later in the day I always ensure that the air cant get to them and make them curl up at the edges. That's Making Sandwiches 101. Service is more than just attentive waiters. The backroom staff must do their jobs properly too, with fresh food and the proper eating implements. I certainly don't like the gratuity being included on the bill, which is already very high to my eyes.
Love a savory choux filling; what a shame they fell doen on the bread. Do US places use instantaneous hot water systens? Maybe not. Maybe their urn was set too low for the volume of water.
@@texajersey5569 we didn’t know they were all like that until we’d had a chance to try them all. And since they were ALL stale, it was doubtful sending them back would have improved things. In the interest of time, I suspect they accommodate a large service of customers by making all the food towers ahead of time.
I’m sorry, but I don’t care how good your food tastes if you give me a cold tea! Sonya i’m sorry that place was such a disappointment. I live in New Jersey and I can get clotted cream delivered to the house in half an hour well maybe an hour and a half. Ha ha ha ❤ And yes, the table settings were adorable, but no silverware? The dish, the clotted cream and strawberries preserves came in did not look like you should pour it out so I think you needed some silverware. Sonya I feel bad that you went to that place to tell us about it and it was just wrong. I hope you and your afternoon tea friend at least had some fun. And the ride there did not seem too long. Thank you so very much for going there and telling us about it. I love when I see that you have a new video up. I drop everything on Sunday morning, well unless I’m late for church. after church, then I drop everything and watch your video. Thank you again for going to have afternoon tea and telling us about it. I hope everybody has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Kathy

It had so much potential. I am sorry it was disappointing. I noticed the high noise level as you walked in. Maybe give them another chance in the future. ❤
I agree, the restaurant looks young. They could easily fix the noise problem and don’t get me going on cold tea. 😢 I would give them a year and then try them again.

Hope it turned out well! Part of the thickening process comes once it's put into the refrigerator and cools down.
