I'm just surprised they included him at all, especially while NOT giving us mother 3. Then again I'm not that surprised because I don't suspect wel'll ever get mother 3. It's just if there had been a good time to announce it, it would be now

starshkr46 Not every character from every smash game has to be in the latest one, I'm pretty sure every game in the series has had a few characters that were exclusive to that game, except maybe the first one.
starshkr46 That's your opinion dude, but Lucas is certainly not a necessity. He is a great character, but it's not like he's a "Staple" that has to be in every smash now. Especially with the still lack of Mother 3 in any other country but Japan, he's only getting less and less relevant, so having more than one Mother character isn't something that the game absolutely needs, but it is really great to have if they can fit it in.

Damn, years later Iwata's passing still hits just as hard. This was a man who ultimately changed the gaming industry for the better. Who's tireless love for gaming hasn't been matched. This would be the last time he would be seen in a direct of any kind.

I don't think most of these people that want Shadow, Tails, Snake, Sora or any other dumb 3rd party character understand that Smash Bros is a Nintendo game that celebrates its whole history as a gaming company, seriously be glad that you have Sonic, Pacman and Megaman.
What about Simon Belmont from Castlevania?

***** I think it's easy, all his different attacks would be different attacks with different weapons. His standard combo could be a dagger, forward tilt, sword, etc. His specials could be different major attacks from jobs, or, he could be a combo-hound, able to use specials to alter his current combo and keep it going in exchange for dealing less knockback, or with another detrement (i.e. the brave command in BD). As for final smash? Bravely Second! While it would be a challenge, I see it working.
This is the perfect opportunity to release the "Smash Pack," all of the last gen smash games bundled together on virtual console!
why do that when they can slowly re-release content from the old Smash Bros games as paid DLC for the new one.

oh yeah... let's see here. Luigi's Neutral Air is still the same pose as that of Mario's except it launches up. mhm... now let's see here... Ness Spins over his axis and hits once hard. While Lucas is multi hit with PSI effects and a crazier spin.
Actually, come to think of it... only Luigi's Fair and Dair are different than Mario's while only Lucas' UpAir is the same.
but let's be fair here and look at their smashes alright? Luigi has a different F smash while Lucas has the same as Ness'... but all other of Luigi's smashes are the same as mario's while Lucas doesnt even use a yo-yo....

Athorment You're focusing way too much on Lucas's differences and not nearly enough on Luigi's. Luigi has a completely different dash attack, he can crawl, he has his own final smash that isn't just Mario's at a different angle, he has lower traction, a distinct jump animation and overall floatier feel when airborne, and he has two specials that are completely different from Mario. You can't say that for Lucas, all his specials are just variations on Ness's.
