  • Cirque traverse has most of Snowbird's classic and iconic ski runs. However, some of these runs are hard to find and hard to get to. In early season, unprepared skiers and boarders may get into trouble by going into wrong place or places required very advance skills. We are making this guide to help to people find the ski runs they want to go to and prevent folks to go places before they are ready. We documented all named runs (that are on official snowbird trail map) off Cirque Traverse to help you enjoy Snowbird more on your next trip. :)

I’m absolutely thrilled to watch you and your family ski Snowbird and Alta! The way you break down the trail entries and techniques are so informative. Unfortunately or fortunately for me, two knee replacements are in the immediate future but the plan is to get back to the Cottonwoods in 2025. I just got my granddaughter on skis and she’s watching you guys and asking me when we’re headed out west! Thanks so much.

one of the best ski videos of all time! If these ripping kids don't get you stoked for skiing, crochet is good too.

I just want to thank you for this video (as well as the High Baldy traverse guide, the Alta High-T guide, and the "acclimating to snowbird steeps" video). I just returned from an epic 5-day ski trek to Snowbird and Alta, and these videos were incredibly helpful for first-time visitors (me and my two teen sons) who wanted to taste the steeps. They are really well done, thanks!!

glad it helped. This is the exact reason i made these videos. Alta/Bird shouldn't be gate kept.

Thank you so much for taking the time to edit that awesome tour of the Cirque Traverse! Great video guys! So helpful. I've been a fly-in Snowbird skiier with my family for four years and we've hit up lots of terrain including a little hiking (there's so much!!!) - but never got farther than Middle Cirque and Gad Chutes on the spine. The traverse just gets so gnarly and the drops are quite puckery! It's clear to me now, like so much of the fun stuff, that we need to hit it up on a snow day for a better experience. Thank you for showing us ll that great terrain on the other side! Shared the link with my daughters

Thanks so much for these guides. I skied the cirque traverse (a couple of laps down Great Scott in particular) yesterday and your guides really made me feel like I knew where I was going up there.

Just introduced my son to the cirque last week. Took a run down middle cirque and loved it! Will hit maybe Great Scott next time if snow is more plentiful and softer. Really helpful how you contrasted early season and late season conditions off the cirque.

Definitely don’t ski great Scott. Snow is always terrible in there…

There are some big rocks so you need to check the base depth. I have found that 65 “ to be about minimum. 85 “ is pretty good but you need 100 “ base to really be able to ski some of the real steep stuff with out a lot of side slipping. The video doesn’t really show some of the exposure of the cliff/ rocks but it’s best to ski with a group with people who actually know the terrain. Skiers visiting and unfamiliar with this area should be aware that some of the terrain you skied puts the no in the term “ no fall zone”. I have been living in SLC and skiing Alta/ Snowbird with friends who are locals and know where to go.

I second that! I did that stuff last year with someone who knew the terrain. Definitely ’no fall zone’! I don’t think I would want to do that on my own.

Great video. Only been on Cirque Traverse once (this past Monday), i went down Middle or Lower Cirque (I'm a Snowboarder), and it might be my instant favorite run at Snowbird! It all looked like DOUBLE BLACK Diamond to me, I almost chickened out. This video will be super helpful for my next visits to Cirque Traverse/Snowbird.

Well if I lived out there I might be tempted to ski it early...but as someone that will fly out from NY I see no reason to ski rocks...I'll wait until it's getting 2 feet of snow no earlier than February 15th!
