    I love your aesthetic and the cozy, magic-carpet manner in which you guide us into your informational odysseys. I’m wondering if you might consider using a softer or more subtle instrument as a pointer… something that might fit in with the rich and velvety world unfolded in your presentation. Sometimes I feel that sharp little stick invades the rich vibe you create.

    That’s so nice! I’ve done the same thing here in The Netherlands. It’s called Cineville and I pay around the same amount monthly. It’s great because I see a lot of arthouse films and I can watch with this subscription in all cities. In my town a new cinema was made in the old prison

    I was highly suprised when I heard Ronja Rövardotter (well close enough right) mentioned all of a sudden! Fantastic tbh. You didn't mention it's a swedish film and a story by Astrid Lindgren though. Maybe you didn't know? Super fun cameo in here for a swede though. Great movie (I remember it as a series as well) like with most of her stories!
    Love the music in it as well. Probably one of my strongest memories of the movie! One of our greatest singers ever when he was young did the main bits - Tommy Körberg.
    Also. While robber might be the same word as rövare or räuber it doesn't sound right to me. Rövare in swedish folklore would be more like reavers or pillagers - or basically vikings on land/in the forests that never got on any boats. Which we had more of in Sweden specifically. In this (childrens/teen) movie they are somewhat close to the stories about Robin Hood, though maybe a bit more edge to them. I don't remember exactly how far they take it.

    Hi! I'm planning a trip for next summer and I'll be going through Austria. What are three cities/towns you'd say are top visits? Thank you, Melange!

    • @MelangeASMR
      @MelangeASMR  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I guess Wien/Salzburg/Innsbruck are the obvious ones. The area I find the most beautiful is the Salzkammergut - great place to visit in summer, you can go for a swim in one the many lakes or hiking in the mountains, and there are plenty of cute towns like Gmunden or Bad Ischl. Leave out Hallstatt, though, it's too crowded.

    Love hearing about those old cinemas. James Cameron was married to Kathryn Bigelow, the dierctor of Strange Days, for a couple years, awhile before that film came out. It's interesting they collaborated post-divorce. Argento's Inferno isn't a slasher movie, it's the sequel to Suspiria and is about witches. There is some gore.

    • @MelangeASMR
      @MelangeASMR  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, I didn't know that about Cameron and Bigelow.
      Yeah, it's the gore I'm unsure about. I've only seen the Luca Guadagnino's remake of Suspiria and that one was borderline for me, so maybe going to see Inferno on one of the biggest screens in Vienna wouldn't the best decision haha.

    Interesting that in mid July I also joined a film club in my local area in Tasmania. The theatre is nowhere near as cultured as what your 1912 heritage in Vienna cinemas sound like, but there are some decent films on. Recently I enjoyed the French coming of age drama 'Close' and a similar themed American film 'Armageddon Time'. Looks like I will be able to get on the film selection committee for this club as well (LOL - look out). Said it before, you are very lucky to have such diverse interesting culture and history on your doorstep.
    Enjoy your films and Thanks for another relaxing exploration into Viennese lifestyle. I have been eyeing off moving into Gyor in the longer term BTW. Budapest, Vienna and Central Europe on my doorstep a very strong lure.

    I love how you call them cinemas. The venacular in the US where I live is "the movies" or "movie theater" which does not sound as elegant.

    • @mattj5492
      @mattj5492 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in Europe the "movies" are called cinemas because theatres are for stage shows. The West End of London is called Theatreland because of all the stage plays, dramas, comedies, etc.

    german dubbed movies are so weird if you get used to watching movies in english.. i kinda hate it that the german dubbed voices are always the same toneless voices and they speak in a melody no real human would use.. in my opinion
    my favourite movies i watched recently (last year): "3 Women" (by Robert Altman) , i liked it while i watched it, but i needed an explanation video afterwards to fully understand what its about.
    "Pusher"-Trilogie from Denmark
    Oslo -Trilogie from Joachim Trier
    "Tar" - with Cate Blanchett
    "Gone Girl" - i just found out this year about this movie
    "Ginger Snaps"- a bit weird and on the cheaper side but i vibed with it.
    "Barbie" - i liked it be not to conventional hollywood movie and there was some absurdity especially in the looks on the characters faces
    what im excited for: tbh the "Red Sonja" movie in the making. i like to read the comics and she is one of my favourite comic heroines and they want to make the movie related to the comics and not to the old Sword +Sorcery 80s cheese "Red Sonja" movie. that means there will be a lot of blood and limbs cut off by a sassy Sonja. i saw the main actress Matilda Lutz in "Revenge" and she knows how to fight covered in blood. :)

      Hey David, here's his answer: There might be certain parts that are cut faster because of an issue with the raw material, for example when an error needs to be cut out, which might give the impression that we're generally going for a faster style. That's not the case, though.

    In Baltimore in U.S. there is an art deco theatre from 1939 called the Senator Theatre which is wonderful. It nearly closed a few times but has always managed to keep going. The main theatre has 900 seats! There was another theatre of the same age in Washington DC called the Uptown that I went to once and it was really nice but unfortunately it has closed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senator_Theatre
