ASMR Vinyl Purchases (soft spoken)

  • It's been a while since we've looked through some vinyls... So long, in fact, that I haven't been able to squeeze all my purchases since the last video into this one. I might have gone a little overboard, but seeing my collection grow and listening to these albums - specifically taking the time to sit down and really focus on them - has brought me a lot of joy. So let's go through these together, from lighter music for summer to the heavier albums I prefer in autumn and winter.

      City map tracings are always dofferent, at least for me. I'd koce to see for example Amsterdam or Hamburg. Also there is a video about the vienna metro system. I guess it doesn't have too many views, so sadly I don't see too much change go continue it and have more part but I'd love to.

    Love your record videos... I've been collecting music since I was a kid in the 80s. It's been love/hate with the vinyl revival... the days of digging through crates of dirt cheap, used records is long gone. But it's nice to see everyone getting back into turntables and good stereo systems.

    • @MelangeASMR
      @MelangeASMR  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, they've become really expensive again. At the same time I think it's great when people actually buy music rather than just stream it, and I'm delighted to be able to get albums from the 90s/early 2000s which never released on vinyl initially on new pressings.

    Thanks, a video that is both relaxing and nice to watch just for the album art you're showing!
    Last year was mostly about melodic and upbeat metal for me, Twilight Force and Ancient Bards were my big discoveries early in the year, and by autumn I got into Eluveitie and Illumishade. I can say that they are all very enjoyable not just because of nice melodies and vocals, but also thanks to how well these bands can write music. There's always something interesting going on in their songs.

    Der Weg einer Freiheit - Noktvrn is definitely one of the best albums I've ever heard. A few of my other favorites that you might enjoy:
    Dead Can Dance - The Serpent’s Egg

    Sun Kil Moon - Admiral Fell Promises
    Anna von Hausswolff - Dead Magic

      @@MelangeASMR "Within the Realm of a Dying Sun" is the DCD album to go for IMHO. Track 7 "Summoning of the Muse" is the first thing I heard of theirs - as the music Carcass used to come on stage to back in 1990. Took me another couple of years to find out what it was....
      Search for this video "CARCASS - Paris 25/06/1990" if you don't believe me.

    Great video, as always. For a chilled album, my favouite album of last year was Complete Mountain Almanac, a country/folk/blues concept album about climate change. For somethig heavier A Feast On Sorrow by Urne was pretty high on most people's best metal albums last year. Also, have you heard King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard? They usually put out several albums a year in all kinds of genres. PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation is their heaviest most recent release.

    I fell asleep in the first couple of minutes (you were still talking about Angelique Kidjo). That was wonderful but I’ll have to watch again and actually learn about your music taste. I used to collect vinyl as a teenager in the 80s (any punk/postpunk/new wave/goth/hip hop and soul) and now don’t have any of these records anymore. It’s a wonderful but expensive hobby. Please keep making these! ❤

    • @MelangeASMR
      @MelangeASMR  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahaha love that!!
      It really is an expensive hobby. A friend of mine got into it just before vinyls took off again and the stories he tells from like entire cars packed full of albums for just a few euros sound like from a different planet at this point 😅
      If you have any postpunk/goth/new wave recs, I'd love to hear them! I was a bit of a goth baby way too late in the early 00s and so much of the earlier bands went right by me at that point.

      @@MelangeASMR My tastes weren’t particularly obscure or amazing but from maybe 1982-1988 I tried to buy every album from: The Clash, The Pretenders, The Stranglers, Siouxsie and The Banshees, The Cure, Joy Division, New Order, Depeche Mode, Cabaret Voltaire, Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, Nina Hagen, X, Sisters of Mercy, The The, B-52s, Blondie, Public Image Limited, The Saints, The Triffids, Hunters and Collectors, The Birthday Party, Romeo Void, Berlin, Skinny Puppy, Kraftwerk, Devo and The Smiths. My goth friends and I also loved Prince and bought all his albums as well as side projects and bands he wrote for like The Time and Vanity 6 😂. It was fun to discover a band like The Cure living in the US Bible Belt through the Japanese Whispers album and get the exciting realisation I had earlier AND later music to explore. Even more fun getting an imported Japanese 12” single of a New Order song I probably already had but it was slightly remixed. You probably already know most of these, and I know I’m forgetting a lot, but of course it was very different from the goth scene now where metal’s much bigger. I don’t love metal but my friends who do are the loveliest people so I love them 😊. Hopefully that’s of some help anyway.

      As far as I can tell she only made that one record in about 2014 and is performs very sporadically under her own name, Majke Voss.
      Her vocal style reminds me a bit of Julianne Regan, formerly of All About Eve.
