Appreciate your direct no-nonsense way of talking
Thanks!
I bought my 2022 GTI S in March. I paid $32995 for mine. That was roughly $1000 over MSRP and then doc fee. I am still pleased with my deal because they tried to mark it up $9k. I love my car
Nice!
Total price? How much were the taxes
We just bought a new hyundai suv and I talked them down 5500 to include the markup and dealer installed options. Paid $25 under msrp. I hope nobody watching pays these markups anymore, they're loosening up and we need to take a consumer stand against these dealerships. Nice gti!
Thanks!
I ordered a GTI S for $32500. Cant wait! Ive been waiting for a while and most dealerships wanted $5k over MSRP.
Congrats!
Thank you for this video. I’m 19 in roofing sales looking to buy a gti for a daily. Never bought new car before so this video def came in clutch
Awesome!
I was 22 when I bought my 2023 GTI S. Went through a credit union to get 4.69% apr with $6500 down payment. I pay $570ish a month for 60 months. But holy cow dude your insurance is wild, I have Geico too and i pay $780 for 6 months in NY. WIsh I could apply the student discount but I'm no longer a full time student, that would take another $120 off.
Dude how is your insurance so low?
Here in CA I pay $200 a month (6 month) for a 2007 civic 😭 granted I have a speeding ticket (10 over) and an accident (not at fault).
After buying a MK6 2 door GTI new in 2013 and driving it for 11 years, I just bought a 2024 GTI 380 S in Moonstone. A couple of things... First, I highly recommend the Monster Mats, they're not as good as my MK6's set, but they're leaps and bounds better than stock carpet mats and they hold up very well etc. Second, high interest rates and dealer mark-ups shouldn't exist together...ever, so find a dealer who will work with you. As rates increase, less and less people can afford the cars which will slow sales and force dealers to be less greedy. I paid well under MSRP on my 2024 that had been on their lot just 9 days. It took 4 days of phone & text negotiations before they agreed to my offer. You have to be willing to walk away and go elsewhere.
Great video! I am recently interested in GTI and doing some research right now and by watching your video of recall the process of buying from the dealership, I noticed some details that they may lie on me for my previous purchases of my first car. Your outline of the video is very clear, I like to know how you trade/replace your car since you said you won't keep that long for the 60 months of finance.
If you have any questions feel free to dm me on Instagram
The long yellow sheet is called "Bill of Sale".... it's a very powerful piece of paper... no deal is sealed until this Bill of Sale is signed by the buyer....
Nice set of GTI videos! Only thing I am torn about with the MK8 is the decision between S and SE. I love having decent quality sound... but nothing crazy since it's a vehicle. What's your take on the S trim audio-system?
It’s not great but not terrible. I’m not an audiophile I just like my sound to be clear and have good bass lol
It seems they’ve switched to Beats audio, which doesn’t get great reviews. But I have no idea. I have the S. The sound is maybe slightly above average.
Recently picked up a new '22 ecoboost mustang. Paid msrp, in Miami (where the new/used car market is still stupid), no mark up's though. Black base, manual, with black accent package, sync three touch screen upgrade, and the factory weather tech style floor mats. My fourth mustang, absolutely love it! Definitely want to get those steeda trunk struts you did a video on a while back.
Enjoy the new whip, those gti vdubz are definitely fast!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Nice. I paid $500 less than sticker for a 2022 6MT SE in Atlantic Blue. Got a ridiculous value for my 2019 GTI Rabbit Edition. You're right: it's a silly fun car to drive.
Nice deal!
thanks for the information sir
Absolutely!
There was a time not that long ago when dealers were selling GTI's for thousands below MSRP like at least $2-3K. Now people are bragging about "only paying MSRP" it is a truly sad. Just 5-6 years ago brand new base GTI's could be had for low $20's. The base does have a lot more features now but still.
I’m well aware. Not “bragging” about MSRP. Every car I’ve bought in the past was thousands below. At the time I bought it, this was the only GTI in Vegas and they were asking a 3k markup. I felt like MSRP was fair given the times were in.
@@JVette01 I wasn't trying to throw shade on you, just the situation. I get that the market has changed, I was just commenting on how much and how quickly it has happened, hopefully it will change again.
I agree
Awesome videos that you make. Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
The se trim is 38000 in the north east. Ridiculous
How do you like your tint combo?
Im looking at doing the same.
Any issues with night driving?
I love the tint. No issues with night driving
@JVette01 thank you so much for the reply.
Going to go with it now.
This was a very good breakdown.
Thanks!
Why the destination fee if it was alrady in Vegas?
I got lucky , got my kings red 2023 s with manual for 30k total. I do still have to pay ttl here in tx (bought it from a Porsche dealer in Florida)
Congrats! Every new car has a destination fee.
@@JVette01 what’s that?
It’s built into the MSRP. To ship it from Germany to your dealership. It’s from the manufacturer and has nothing to do with the dealership.
Lovely car and love the vid!
Thanks!
what route should i go being an 18 year old with a full time job working 40+ hours a week. i find that buying brand new is almost better than buying used these days. any tips on how i should go about buying?
DM me on Instagram
Buy one with 3,000 to 5,000 miles
One thing about GTi s they don’t hold their value for shit like a jeep or ford bronco or a 4 runner. Fun to drive though !
Ya did good. Real good. Great fun car and a fair deal. Congratulations!
Thank you!!
What do you mean when you say you “ don’t keep the car for very long”? In that case, wouldn’t a lease serve you better? Anyway, real nice car! Have fun!
I don’t lease because I drive too many miles and I don’t want to be forced to give up my car.
I want this but I want upgraded stereo and keyless system.
You’d have to get an SE.
@@JVette01 i know but I don’t want sunroof though. Maybe I could modify the S with it after down the road.
@@JVette01 I’ve bought many cars and my advice to you is always walk in with your own finance pre approval to buy anywhere. Keep all the buy power in your hands so you don’t get stuck with well that’s how it is. Everything is negotiable. If not walk away. Going to another dealership then running your credit kills your scores. Nice car for sure though. I always ask out the door price then negotiate by removing stuff and lowering price in general. Then fill out my blank check or call my bank with the price we agreed to buy it. Sign and roll out. No extra BS warranty or free oil changes for an extra blah blah blah. I don’t like others touching my stuff unless necessary. Congratulations on new car. It’s beautiful.
Thanks! As far as buying it is concerned, I was happy with the deal I got. I could’ve paid for the car cash but I’m only financing it for credit purposes.
@@DandyDan123 I agree. I would rather do my own oil change. I plan on asking the dealer what he thinks that is worth if offered, and then I will ask for that much more off the car! No idea if it will work, probably not...
Wait if you're only 21, how do you afford having 2 cars while being a student?
I work.
@@JVette01 So do the majority of 21 year olds, but that doesn't explain how you're able to afford 2 new cars. Most aren't able to afford 1 doing full time, so I'm curious on how you're able to afford 2 while doing, I'm assuming, part time.
I work over 40 hours a week. I also sold my mustang recently. I also already graduated college. I did 2 years. I don’t have many bills currently either. If you want to know specifics, you can DM me on Instagram
@@JVette01 Oh okay that makes sense, in the video when you mentioned the college student discounts, I was confused for a bit. But yeah working 40+hours and not having many bills definitely does help.
Yep. This car is actually much cheaper to own and operate than the mustang
Just got my 23 gti for msrp. Pretty stoked.
Congrats!
where did you purchase at msrp if you dont mind me asking? dealers near me are putting 5k markups which is super annoying and puts the car in Golf R territory
You could have removed the mat option and other stuff. They just put it in another car and remove it.
We’ll it’s because yours is a 2022 model…2023 models are already arriving at the dealerships. 1yr of depreciation is how much?
I bought it almost 4 months ago now
why not set inside the car? lot less wind, lol nice car....drive safe!
Good idea haha
Looking at a black S for 32.5 ..hopefully I see it in person . Had to put 1k down to "preserve" my spot. He said it was refundable though once the car came and I didn't like it . Hope I'm not being played with . The car should be here end of November
Nice!
Hi did you get your S?
@@TheGTIguy heyy..yes I did 2 days ago!!!
@@youngrios That's cool congrats! I am waiting for my moonstone grey, put a deposit down a few weeks back. Are you breaking it in for 1k miles? mix of city and highway? Did you do anything to the car right after you took it out of the dealer lot?
You say you can't do anything sbout the wind, that's odd, everyone else can. It's called technology, look into it.
If you’d like to send me some stuff, let me know. Thanks
3rd year covers dsg oil and diff. For 140 is good
Nice!
Nice:). I got a 2019 gli autobahn dsg with 15k miles for 26.5k back in august of 2021! I was absolutely shocked as it was the only one within 300 miles of me and all the other ones online(some with way more miles) were all about 30k.... for a dsg autobahn they were ab msrp @ 30-32k with the same milleage.... i was sooo happy, definently wouldnt have paid anything over 28k for it even though with the market ig it woulda technically still been a goodeal. Oh they also gave me window tint door edge cover and cargo peotection included no xtra cost so yea i felt like i gotta good deal. But then they couldnt find the 2nd key so remove the free window tint for price of that but whatever.
Nice!
did you get gap insurance?
No
This is personal but since you're a sales man.
I'm thinking about getting the new MK8 R. But I have a paid charge-off on my credit history 650+ score ( which I didn't do it , my stupid bro did it using my info but I still had to pay for it , it was only $1000 ). I have a co-signer who has a very good credit score, and I've been saving up , about $30K.
I don't know if I can get approved for a car loan.
Since you're a sales man I wonder if you could help me with this or anyone.
Thanks a lot. getting my dream car.
Message me on Instagram!
Can't you tell them to remove the extra stuff?
What extra stuff?
@@JVette01 The matts and trunk liner thing
@@arisgolseen2693 Nope. It's on the window sticker.
@@JVette01 so if a mark up was on the window sticker or an accessory that's not on the car yet you can't negotiate it?
You can try to negotiate the price but it was already on the car from the manufacturer. It’s like trying to negotiate the price for the red paint upcharge. It’s on the window sticker.
If you don’t keep cars long enough why not lease? That seems to be the trend these days
I don’t lease
Vw dealer near me wanted 38k used
Oof
@@JVette01 thats why i still have my St😂
My old GTI just sold from the dealership I traded it in at for 30k
dude your car payments for a 21 year old is like $600 a month. Are you not worried?
That’s not even that high tbh. If I was chasing a lower payment I would’ve put more money down or went longer term but payment is irrelevant to me
That's about what I payed in 2016 for an SE with every option. Also got a zero interest loan from VW Credit.
Nice! The prices have definitely gone up.. I’m a first time buyer so I wouldn’t qualify for 0% even if it was offered haha.
$270 per month from Geico???? That's awful!!!!!! Geico doesn't cover everything and it's that much already???? Insane.... My brand new BMW X5 5.0M only costs $125 per month for full premium coverage with State Farm.... wow... your $270 per month is way too high....
Congratulations. I also was 20 at the time of making this video and had 2 new cars on the policy.
@@JVette01 being young sucks.... I remember how it was for me 10 years ago when I was 20.... broke...no high pay job....college...homework.....etc.... now I get to enjoy the fruit of my hard work... you will too very soon.... I am thinking about buying a MK8.... I'm worried about road noise and wind noise.....and bumpy ride.... what have you seen so far about road and wind noises ???
Road noise is fine and the ride is firm but nice in my opinion. It doesn’t ride like an S class but it’s a nice composed ride.
Paid $37,500 otd for a new 2022 GTI SE with 3.65% apr. Drove the car for 5k miles and was rear ended by some stupid bitch who was on her phone. Car has been at body shop for weeks waiting on a new bumper. Am currently driving a Chevy Malibu rental until the gti is fixed. Missing the gti, they are great cars.
Nice! Sad to hear about the accident :(
This just happened to me as well. Got a yellow GTI and drove it for 2 days before this guy hit it while I was chilling at a stop light.
@@Cal3banator Sorry to hear that, my car sat at the body shop for around a month awaiting parts, just got it back last week. Guy at the body shop told me right now all parts are hard to get but surprisingly Toyota parts are the hardest to find right now.
I financed mine I’m paying 480 buck a month
Cool!
and what are all of the details?
You added a couple thousand with that extra 5 percent Apr, I don't know why people don't mentioned the actual total cost including the loan. Any interest above 2 percent is a no go for me. You still have to pay off the interest it doesn't matter if your going to pay it off early.
Good luck trying to get 2% in todays economy as a first time buyer
33k for a mk8 gti isn't bad , damn.
I remember back in 2010 I got Mk6 GTi 2 door with DSG for $26K OTD. Of course back then that car had a lot less options and standard features.
@@MrWolf2212 And cars as a whole cost a lot less, and the dollar was worth a lot more. 33k otd is the price for a basic csuv with little features and amenities.
Just bought a used mk 8 GTI s with 6 thousand miles for $29,000
@@larally3408which trim, S?
Just leased one and they wanted 600 a month 😂 talked them down to 470
👍👍
for the same amount of months and mileage?
These cars are garbage.
Cheap plastics, the touch steering wheel is a joke, the infotainment system is useless and the faults, they are never ending. Really badly made, badly designed and I spent all the time taking it in for various reasons. Eventually replaced and the replacement was equal as bad.
Avoid the GTi or any golf like it’s got the plague.
You got a bad one. I never had any problems and I had 2 MK8s combined 30k miles
@@JVette01 No I had 2 bad ones.
And the majority of the faults are common/known issues with the car. Steering wheel, fire risk with engine, over a dozen recalls, bumper not fitted correctly from factory, heated seats doing whatever they wanted, adaptive cruise just turning off, really cheap plastics. Avoid this and any other VW at any cost. Get an Audi, who at VW thought it was a good idea to have controls for the ac you can’t see or find at night as they aren’t illuminated. Sooo poor. I fact, I’d go stranger, complete junk, it was the best feeling ever handing over the keys as I sold this car.
I'm not sure why you'd watch a video on a MK8 GTI if you hate it so much.. but thanks for the view
@@JVette01 to pass on our real world experience of ownership to others in hope they don’t or won’t make the same mistake and buy one.
