    Great photos. My GRD ii had been sitting in a drawer for a few years. Recently took it out and have been having some fun with it.

      No problems, this camera is amazing in the right conditions. Not so good in all situations but it certainly has some great unique charm to it. Thanks for the comments.

    I got one a couple months ago and immediately fell in love with it. So much so that I grabbed a second one. It’s a great everyday carry because it’s so small!

      It is a great little camera but I do find that it has limitations and is difficult to meter a scene sometimes; invariably photos come up over exposed....still getting used to it but its so easy to throw in the bag/coat/trouser pocket! Thanks for watching.

    The pictures look great. Goes to show that megapixels really don't matter that much .

    Great shots Chris, bargain! 😎🤘
    Screw mega-pickles! All about the feel to the images for me 🥰
    Personally for digital have left characterless Sony robot photo-takers for Lumix and loving it so far.
    Would love an every dayer, slip in the pocket beast like this though. 🥰

      This is exactly why I am giving this a go. It has a few foibles that I will talk about in a future video after some more time with the camera but for the cost it is definitely a keeper.

    Hi Chris, the older Four thirds DSLR's are worth a look. E1, E300, E400, E500 all have Kodak CCD Sensors. Work well with the olympus 25mm f2.8 pancake lens.

      Thanks Many doors, they were likely jpegs with some minor edits e.g. cropping.

    I really have had all Ricoh GR digitals, untill the latest GR III. I sold them all to come back to this very first one. I really love it, but... it is prone to some issues with the buttons... I hope I can fix it with some spare parts of a previous one. I hope yours lasts for ever.

    Literally just bought a very mint looking one from EBay myself. Spent too long chasing megapixels etc and went through too many cameras. I guess the “best” camera I had was a Sony a6300 and I just never liked it at all. Regretted trading in a Lumix GX80 for it. Now my main camera is a Leica M8 and I adore shooting it so something more pocketable was the next thing so an old GR was where I looked.
    Question - can you bracket with image profiles on jpeg like monochrome, positive film, bleach bypass as I understand the Raw images take an age to buffer

    • @ChrisEdgecombePhoto
      @ChrisEdgecombePhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't found a way to bracket the image types no. I have tried RAW and colour jpegs but have tended to stick to just the B&W Jpegs +2 contrast +1 Sharpness. All the images in this video were jpg only with only minor tweaks if any in post. This is also the CCD sensor GRD series of cameras, not the APS-C Ricoh GR series which came later...
      TBH unless you shooting sports which you probably wont be with this camera then does it really matter that it takes 13s or so to write the RAW file to the sd card? Like I said above, I actually prefer the SOOC Jpegs anyway.

      @paulanderson24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChrisEdgecombePhoto thanks for taking the time to reply. There is definitely something special about how a ccd captures images isn’t there? I’ll try out those settings and likely treat it as a monochrome camera anyway. I was hesitant about the raw setting just because of how the buffering time would affect the battery life. Sports is definitely not on the cards with this camera. Hoping it arrives today. Thanks again

      Straight out of the camera, just cropped as required and levelled if needed (no other editing).

  • @Lorenzo_Melocchi

    I owned one, great for b&w the real problem is dust on sensor

    • @ChrisEdgecombePhoto
      @ChrisEdgecombePhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I was concerned about this and I know in the end the camera (it seems to be all Ricoh's, even the newer ones) will eventually succomb to this but so far all I can see occasionally on my copy is a couple of specs on the images which are easily taken care of in post with the clone/heal tool if obvious.
