You can save a little money over the Wingman FGC by getting a Magicboots PS4 and plugging it directly into the USB expansion port on the Haute controller itself.
il buy the one that comes with all that crap included
It costing less then a ps5 isn't a flex . It should cost as much as a regular controller
@@restlessascension3260 it does.
@@arobotbitmedid you actually do it?
I also got psyopped into buying one of these, and I'm so glad I did. Here in Europe, the hitbox style controller options are not great; you have a few small custom builders and one or two guys on etsy making affordable keyboxes, that's about it. Every few months I look to see if there's something new and I come across this, also thinking that this has to be a scam lol. But sure enough, these things DELIVER. In hindsight, the fightstick/hitbox market is completely screwed; a modified keyboard with fewer buttons and a cheap chip inside should not be running 250+ bucks, period. Some have additional features and whatnot, but there's no reason for a snackbox, for example, to be so damn expensive. So glad that a company like Haute is coming along to inject some sanity into the pricing model of this industry.
hey man where exactly did you buy your hitbox? through amazon?
This is absolutely true, the components to make a basic controllers for one platform like PC or old consoles aren't that expensive there should more affordable options.
If you build it yourself it's not much cheaper than a snackbox. Haute is a Chinese company and so has direct access to cheap parts - I assume this is what allows them to sell it cheaper.
Hitbox has always been overpriced, but they were the first so it makes sense. I assume they'll drop price and come out with a slim model soon to stay relevant.
I've been saying this too. It's only a less functional keyboard, fuck off with a $300+ price tag.
I too was psychologically manipulated, brainwashed, and nonconsentually mindbroken into buying one. Can't wait for mine to be delivered next week 😢Gonna be playing +R and Strive on it! I am already playing them on keyboard but it has always felt a bit off, like the keys feel too close together. I have big hands so I'm hoping a large leverless with wider spacing between buttons will help me play more comfortably. Also I totally agree with you that leverless controllers should not be as expensive as the snackbox and Kitsune are. Leverless controllers should be affordable for everyone especially for those of us who are still new to fighting games and figuring out if leverless is the way to go.
I've been thinking a lot about getting this model, and bam... you upload a video about it that's crazy.
Thank you so much for talking about the hitbox resetting your SOCD every time it's unplugged... so exhausting having to remember to switch to the correct SOCD during every session of SF.
they actually dropped an update that fixes that (x.com/hitboxarcade/status/1749848469064568859?s=20)
Nerd emoji says: Sanwa buttons (all old arcade buttons) are also mechanical. They have a mechanical switch inside which is similar to keyboard switches. There are different types of keyboard mechanical switches so no reason to call arcade buttons non-mechanical really
With that being said, controllers with extra buttons are a blessing. Games allow us to bind more buttons for years. Now we can finally do it on hitbox controllers. Good review and thanks for telling people about this type of "extended" controllers
As a boomer who started with SF4 on a Hori RAPP 3, I'm still getting used to using the extra 2 buttons at the end of arcade sticks, lol. But it's definitely a benefit! Insta-dashing and blocking is amazing!
I just ordered mine, I cant wait! Ive been getting used to the hitbox style with my keyboard on SF6 (using space as up) and Im finally ready to take the plunge I think, I'm so glad I did a bit more research and found this, I was about to go with a snackbox, which seems way to similar, all in all, to spend 3x as much, plus I like the idea of the extra buttons for parry and drive impact, also whatever you could use them for in Tekken which I'm learning as well. Great video and review.
bro i almost got baited into buying a snackbox during evo lol. luckily they kept selling out right when i had my cart ready , i took a break from the game. came back and now this is around , im so happy to save all this money for basically the same exact thing bro , unless you are a pro going to events , the controller is NOT that serious to spend 200 to 400 bucks on a fighting pad
Just got a G13 version of this (the mini version) and it just works.
No hang ups, no crazy hoops to jump through, the controller came with a USB-C to USB-A cable, the instructions, an extra switch in case one breaks, and a switch removal tool.
The RGB lights are easy to adjust, switch colors, and turn on or off. It has TWO USB-C ports, one on the side, one on the top - and they both work so you can choose if you want the cable to hang off of the side or the front of the stick - VERY nice quality of life feature.
I do agree that the buttons feel a little loose, but they are still very responsive and have a good action under them thanks to the Red Switches. Its just in their resting position they can move a bit, but when its action time - they do the job.
Extra caps from Haute are dirt cheap, and its just regular mechanical keyboard switches, so you can just buy them 3rd party if you want as well.
The ability to just simply take out the screws and put in whatever art you want on the stick is awesome. A little bonus too - is that you can place art on the bottom of the stick as well - so you can have one piece of art taking the buttons into consider at the top, and a full sized panel piece of art on the bottom if you'd like. Representing two mains has never been easier :)
Overall, love this controller.
Some hoops to jump thru if on ps4 or ps5. Gotta spend anywhere between 30 to 60 for an adapter or compatible controller.
@@xooks3050 super good point. You'll get this blocker on most 3rd party controllers, be aware to look up PS4/PS5 compatibility especially if you're looking to play at in-person tournaments where they may be PS5 centric.
may i ask if there’s a difficulty in reseting the practice mode in fighting game with the 13-button model. I just bought my T13 yesterday and still wait for it to shipped (because i find it more cleaner than 16-button model lol) and I just get curious all of the sudden if it’s gonna be harder to reset the practice mode. Anyways if there’s some difficulties in it I also can’t change my mind now lmao
@@pananirunrungruang6917 I have G13. If you have it set to ps4 mode and are using an adapter there will be no issues with any buttons.
@@xooks3050 Thank you so much! I feel more relieved now :)))
I was gonna buy the smaller g16 but the dimensions on this one actually look very good at a glance. Also holy moly the value of these controllers with the extra buttons etc. too, I'm excited for the age of affordable arcade controllers!
That and rollback. We're truly in the golden age
I started playing Fighting games on the Hori Fightstick mini. And the G series legitimately feels nostalgic. That said, I will prefer stick for non-charge characters, it's just more fun for me.
Thank You for your review, I just received mine yesterday as my 1st leverless controller. I don't have the mayflash magicboots. Configuring the controller using ps pass through, the side USB port on the side can connect the mayflash magicboots or brook fgc, then just connect the usb c to the ps5 directly without going through the brook fgc. Overall I really like it.
I like your "it's punching weigh above its weight" line. Really good controllers pound for pound. Nice review!
Heyyy ik you lol
@@vulgar._. 🥸 Spotted!
If memory serves me, that USB expansion port on the side of the controller can also be used to jack in a MagicBoots PS4 1.1 dongle, and you can configure PS Passthrough mode in the settings, which lets you get around using a Brook adapter or dealing with uploading your own auth keys to get around the 8 minute timeout. These Haute42 leverless controllers are a great piece of kit at their price point.
Will that make it compatible with PS5?
For full ps5 compatibility you need the mayflash ultimate. Plug it into the side usb-a port. I didn’t try the magicboots myself but from reading I think it makes the pad show up as a PS4 fight stick, so it will only work with PS5 games that recognize PS4 arcade sticks.
@@jdrukman To this we add that you must configure the control as an arcade control so that the PS5 detects it without problems
@@djender Yep, what's more, that way, it is compatible on Xbox One and Series
Does it need mayflash and brook adapter or just may flash for ps5
It's always amazed me how expensive these sticks are, I always put it down to the PCB being the main cost. But $70 is ana amazing price for any controller
as a crafter myself, i can tell you.. pcb isnt the main cost. its mostly the millcut case. its crazy. anyways below 100 bucks is a fantastic price
No kidding. I remember paying $250 for a relatively outdated stick and that was considered entry level.
this price should be standard for basically a glorified keyboard with less keys
This review is awesome!!! Thanks for doing it!!😘
Def going to be my first hitbox style for that price, definitely worth a try.
I got one about 12 days ago. I like it so much I bought a M16. The value is so good I felt I had to get another one to keep. I love the 30 mm buttons it feels very comfy for bigger hands.
I love the tiny LCD screens being put on these controllers now. Gonna get a chibi-Ken or Ryu animation to play on my Slab Mini. :D
Haute 42 is putting the industry on notice also the have a m series with an aluminum case i ordered my t16 from amazon couldnt take a chace with ali express too many mixed reviews. Thanks for doing a review on this product. Not many online about the product but so far all i see is positive feedback. Cant wait 2 use it in tekken 8.
Would love a M series controller with T16 size.
@@piotrdruzkowski410 amazon has a m13 listed but it's not avaliable yet in the states. Hoping they pick up the big boy as well 🙏.
I'm waiting for that too xD@@piotrdruzkowski410
I bought from AliExpress for 110 cad including tax and it was shipped really fast and everything else was great.
Great review, might get one of these and see if I like it more than my JFA micro XL. Wont be able to play Tekken 8 or use it until I get through my exams though, so I might hold off on buying it until then. Great job Haute 👍🏼
This is really intriguing since i kind of want to buy a hitbox. nice vid and explanation!
The Haute42 products really are picking up steam, and honestly it feels like its deserved, great price and checks all the boxes. Personally im gonna stick to my Panzer 4 lol. Also I use a gp2040 and I dont have to set up SOCD everytime i plug in the device, might just be a hitbox pcb thing.
I just got the smaller version (G16) of this and it's pretty nice!
Mine has full size keyboard switches so I swapped them with others I had (it came with speed silvers and I wanted full travel on the movement buttons).
Anyway it's my first leverless and it's been fun, just takes a bit getting used to it (I still use pad from time to time).
This is a dope controller. Might check it out as I love 30mm buttons and the led screen. Could be a good companion to my kitsune
It comes down to material, mod ability, and aesthetic sometimes for the more expensive hitboxes.
Damn bro went in on JFA, Hitbox and Victrix. Totally agree with your recommendation though.
DP = Direction Pad, LS = Left Stick, RS = Right Stick, like the D Pad and sticks on other controllers. Some games require those to navigate through menus or whatever.
I got a g12 last month, and it's been everything I've wanted from a PCB with buttons
Thanks, just the video i was looking for
It's crazy that you posted this a few hours after I bought this exact leverless. Wanted to find a cheaper leverless to learn before building my own and this was the most cost efficient one I seen with good reviews.
I ordered mine last week, i am waiting for it hope gonna receive it next week to start training Tekken 8 with it.
I have the T16 and the G16. They are both better than sticks that cost triple the price.
Ive been wanting to try hitbox for a good minute and havent caved because of the price, this is will probably be the time i finally dive in 🤙 super hyped for the rec.
Thanks for saving me $300. I'm picking up the t-16 from Amazon. If I like it I'll be grabbing the M-Series soon.
Hey Andy another great review, I'm waiting for mine to arrive, fun fact the one that I ordered from Amazon, is kinda branded differently, it's the sehawie arcade stick, also it has slightly different menu buttons, and please review the punk workshop next cheers.
I also got that one, it isn't any different from what you see in these videos, I believe Sehawei is just the European distributor.
Are u using it on PS5? How does it works?
thats the name of the seller on amazon. its the same haute controller
@@CrIs-eu6rsyou need an adapter for ps5. I got mayflash ultimate. Works!
been looking at this recently, perfect timing on the video lmfao
ive tried a similar hitbox style con before but i didnt like the smaller 24mm buttons, this seems like the perfect hitbox for me but its unavailable on eu amazon :(
Once I tried crown 202 (mechanical switches) for my custom full sized leverless I never thought of going back too saw a style button
Wonderful review. A pleasure to listen to, multifaceted. And with no copy paste lo fi hip-hop for no reason, too. Thanks.
I'm looking at the S version cause I don't think these large buttons are a good idea.
Is there any chance you could get the aluminum one and do a review about that one too?
I really wanted to get the G13 and take it to that huge combobreaker tournament in a few months and show it off, but with a new baby on the way I can't spend any money on myself for a while. ugh.
I bought a Haute hitbox as well, but a smaller model. Hitboxes were so expensive, but I played the waiting game.
This was so helpful man
I just got into hitboxes and I got the razor kitsune
People were telling me oh it's overpriced etc. Or at least I receive that online. The fact after watching this video that I could just plug that thing in play straight away that alone for me was worth the price difference
I'm one of those people that I really don't want to finagle with web pages downloading going on side quests and things of that nature
So even though I came here for a review of the product you're doing and makes me appreciate the one I purchased already
Thank you for your input
Finally someone shows off the software. I kept going to reviews to see if you could rebind the keys. I don't like the thumb being up but then I didn't see that in the config. Is it not there or did you not show it?
so how does inputting up and back or up and forward get affected by the up being a thumb button? can i map that "extra button" to be my up input?
Just got mine and I’m Very impressed
I bought one of their earlier small models a few months ago because it was like 60 CAD and i was convinced it was fake, but these things are the real deal. That one has 24mm buttons aside from the up button, also
Idk if this is a common issue, but the keycaps on mine are kinda loose, and tend to come loose sometimes. Small price to pay for the small price to pay, though..
@AndyLO2 bro, I have the t16 but I tried the user config and whenever I use the bottom buttons next to the jump button in training mode, it just changes the dummy recordings. any tips?
This sort of thing ALMOST makes me sad for buying a very similar controller last year for several hundred. Because this seems kind of like an objective upgrade for a fraction of the cost.
But I've gotten a year out of it, so I can't be too sad.
5:00 it was too good to be true. They raised the price already and its barely been a week
Bro today it arrived for me and now you release this video lmao 😂
can all the buttons be set individually to whatever i would like? if not then that would be my complain
Is there much difference between thus and the 616 or is the T_16 a tad bigger
Did you ever get used to the 30mm buttons? I'm really interested in the T-series because its reminisce of the kitsune.
I have this leverless for 2 weeks now and the buttons are feeling good. I was used to classic hitbox layout with 24mm buttons and in the final, the 30mm are easy to get used. 😉
welcome to the haute42 club.
Looks nice. I have a fake hitbox that I got for $99. The up button location is perfect for fighting games but in other genres I wish the was a 2nd up button above the down button. The only issue with this one is that it's got so many buttons all over the place I'd likely get confused. I'd have to scratch up buttons so I can tell where my fingers are without looking down. Like how the F and J buttons on keyboards usually are.
$75 is a really great price. I don't know why Hitboxes cost so much given the reality of what they are: a small plastic box with switches and buttons. $200 to $300 feels like ultra price gouging.
Hey those switches have absolutely nothing to do with gamerfingers just FYI. Gamerfingers are for putting keyboard switches in pre-existing arcade setups, they're basically fancy switch adapters. These are just keyboard switches mounted directly to a pcb. Good review in any case, it's crazy how cheap these rp2040 hitboxes are getting.
it's pretty cool, especially how the buttons can be placed closer together. screw in diameter is 36mm for a 25mm plunger. only downside seems to be the keycaps being wobbly. wish I could have this solution for diy but making pcbs and machining mounting plates is a bit next level
@@ocoro174 I print mounting plates with an FDM printer and they work fine once you work out the tolerances and thickness. Not great for a keyboard due to the spacing but plenty stiff enough for a hitbox.
i would buy if this was able to house mx switches instead of chocs. I have a snackbox already but choc buttons are so limited.
Have you had any issues with the brook wingman converter for ps5? I had it fail on me once, seemed a bit buggy
Do you need to change any settings when you used the brooks converter?
Great review!
So you can't just load some files into it to use it in a PS5?
Also, aren't those buttons too close together? Don't your thumbs get in the way of each other?
They tried that with PS4 but it involves doing a hardware mod of the PS4 to grab your own keys, so it isn't practical to do it legally, and the easy way (downloading someone else's) is very possibly illegal because it's proprietary Sony code.
Will it play non fighting ps5 games with wingman adapter? Reason I ask is because all the sticks I have work with ps4 games but only fighting games for ps5. I get error that says this controller not supported for this game. Etc. tring to play like 2d games like tmnt etc.
If you get mayflash ultimate it works with all ps5 games.
@@jdrukman thank you I will try that out
Im really torn between the haute42 m13 and t13, I mainly play on my desk so im thinking of the m13 for the premium feel. What do you think?
Depends how much disposable income you have, how much you prefer the feel of metal over plastic, and how much you value being able to put your own image behind the acrylic faceplate
Looks like Haute 42 was right to entrust this controller to you. You've just got me to buy one. :D
Dude, if I can get this with 24mm buttons, it would be an instant buy.
Edit: Hitbox arcade can SOCDeez nuts
I am glad that we're finally having quality leverless controllers at this price point, now other companies will have to pivot and make products that are more affordable instead of selling 300 dollar controllers.
Does it fit on your lap comfortably?
which one do you guys recommend for small hand?
1:41 - I realize that you didn’t know, so it’s NBD, but speaking as a keyboard nerd if it may be of interest-“Kailh” is generally pronounced as “kale” (like the vegetable).
ahh ok thanks
Can you easily replace red switches with silver?
i have it and it's really good definitely would recommend but dam when i play on p2 side i suck so bad lol I've retreated back to stick.
Hey I bought one of those. It's still shipping. I'll get it in a week.
I got my G13 (snackbox-sized version) last week. All of these big leverless companies are gonna get slaughtered by these new Pico devices.
up to 90$ now because its the number 1 seller in gaming keyboards on amazon. I think the small price increase is justified if they cant keep up with the amount of people buying them for tekken 8. I might get one and swap between this an my microXL.
I've been eying the mpress but this looks so good.
Hey, Andy. This is a bit off topic. I'm assembling my first stick, I purchased a Brook XB Fighting Board and don't know how to wire the buttona. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me.
you probably need the wiring diagram

thats about all i know haha
@@AndyLO2 No worries😅. Thanks! I'll look into it.
Hi All will this work on a PS5 with a Brooke Wingman?
damn... price went up right after this video dropped
do they work on the PS5? most of the models i checked on the website say PS4, but idk if the processor allows PS5. i want to play Native ps5 titles and not something like tekken 7
anything that isnt officially licensed to playstation wont work. thats the actual reason all of the good quality ones are extremely expensive to actually run because the only way to make them work on console is with a converter thats very hard to get.
Get the mayflash ultimate adapter, it enables full ps5 compatibility.
@@jdrukmanto add, plug that in the EXT port. This will prevent the adapter from adding extra lag.
@@KetsubanSoloyep. And if you needed further incentive, it doesn’t actually work if you plug the controller into it. (At least, not for the purpose of ps5 controller authentication)
Hey question: does the controller software allow you to rebind all the buttons? I usually swap L1 and L2 for R2 and R1 respectively, because it works better in my brain.
heya, owner here, and thanks to it using GP-2040CE, yes you can!
@@kamen.rider.decadeawesome, ty!
As a measly plat rank, I feel like the controller design is not what's preventing me from improving. I assume I'll get more mileage out of my current stick with a stronger focus on improving my fundamentals than I will from swapping to a new controller that itself will take me ~3 months to feel truly comfortable with lol
As someone who played with stick for 6 years, I can vouch that it takes surprisingly little time to get used to leverless. I bought a Haute42 hitbox to travel since my stick is too large and I've already surpassed most of my execution on stick in just 3 days. A big factor for me is that going from stick to hitbox layout kept my right-hand muscle memory completely identical; it would probably be harder if you're used to playing on a pad though.
No harm in trying different styles of controllers out. I personally swap between them based on characters I'm using and also my mood lol
Would the non-slip coating work for a person that games without wearing pants and with hairy legs? Gonna need feedback asap.
It's ok, Just do it, it fits you! lol
Could just stick some non-slip pads if it doesn't really work out.
hey man, do you know if this works with the wingman fgc converter on the ps5?
yes it does using the usb port on the stick, check the pinned comment for more info
Is this controller CPT (street fighter 6) legal?
I heard it may have too many buttons. Do you know?
Looking to buy
By default it has two buttons bound to jump so that isn't CPT legal. It has an interface for changing the bindings though.
@@TheCackling Two movement buttons is CPT legal, actually. Two non-movement buttons is not legal. More than two movement buttons is also not legal.
So I have a hitbox, I always wanted to replace mine because it's huge and bulky and I didn't care for the software updating and still don't quite understand how to understand properly.
Not to mention they never mention if it was possible update for ps5 antive games yet.
Anyone knows if this works straight up on ps5 natively with ps5 versions of games and if I can change the artwork on any models? Honestly this seems better than the snackbox too?
It doesn't natively work on the PS5, but it will work on games that have legacy PS4 controller support enabled if you plug a dongle into the EXT port. The cheapest is the Mayflash Magicboots PS4 1.1 (it will also work with a Mayflash Magic S Ultimate or a Brook FGC Adapter).
To my knowledge, the only fighting game this won't work on is the PS5 version of the Breakers Collection
Also their official Discord has art templates
Does this work on ps5? doesnt seem to be listed. Insta buy for me if it works.
It works on a PS5 if you plug a dongle in the EXT port. The dongles are...
1) Mayflash Magicboots PS4 1.1
2) Mayflash Magic S Ultimate
3) Brook FGC Adapter
Keep in mind, this only works if the game reads PS4 controllers, although most fighting games have that. AFAIK the PS5 Breakers collection won't work but that's it.
this is awesome sauce
did u have the link aliexpress ?
"Catastrophically buckling compression column switch and actuator" Cmon get the switch name right 😝
I've been watching videos and reviews for more than 3 hours and I'm still not clear. I want to buy leverless Haute Pad T 16 and play Tekken 8 on PS5, does it seem like buying Mayflash Magic Boots works, or do I have to buy another dongle? Brook seems very expensive to me
Yes u can plug a magic boots into the passthrough for ps5
Make sure the PS4 Magic Boots says 1.1 on it. If it doesn't, it won't work.
Does this work on the ps5?
What is adpater for ps5? I cant fined what i need, can any one help?
The Kizune too, costs less then a ps5🗿
I got burned by the razer kitsune twice.BOTH OF THE CONTROLLERS GER STUCK INPUTTING LEFT. This controller blowing up after I returned that crap seems like fate.
For me the kitsune is way overpriced, I ain't paying for that shit.
crazy good controller
Do they work for PS5 snd are there any way to buy them in EU so we don't get punished by our customs for wanting the nice stuff?
PS5 compability was just answered, was a bit excited 😆
The store says it’s only ps4 compatible but not ps5, however it seems like you are mentioning how you can set up the controller for ps5 at offline tournaments. I’m confused, does this work on a ps5?
I updated the pinned comment check there for full instructions
So is there any reason why the snackbox micro is 300$ ?
Not anymore lol. Lot of those boards use Brooks. The Brooks guys need to make their money and the stand alone brooks board for ps5 is $70. So Junkfood has to make their profit on the rest. But this open source GP2040 board is so inexpensive we are now seeing a lot of controllers for much cheaper.
These other brands are in trouble.
Do they actually work for ps5? The website only says ps4
