When you put wood chips or even straw, for the grass-loving species, underwater for at least 2 weeks or more, it goes anaerobic with bacteria. Then when you dry it and the chips or straw hit the open air, the oxygen becomes the sterilizer, killing all the anaerobes. Then when your mycelium, which is anaerobic, hits the clean chips or straw in the anaerobic environment, it goes crazy and grows like you wouldn't believe.

I’ve innoculated areas from just harvesting mycelium covered wood chips and moving them to another woodchip bed, super easy to do and it seems to be hardy enough if you have enough mycelium
Tbh if you want maximum effect I would innoculate areas around wholesale garden supply shops, and also the local council landscape yards . Where I am, people and councils spread a lot of wood chips everywhere and we have booming woodchip beds with subs.

recommendation for a woodlover I can grow in north east Texas? Getting Wavy Caps to fruit here isn't easy. The cold season is the dry air season. Anything that fruits in the 60F-80F range should work.
Maybe try the Indian woodlover or Niveotropicalis. Get ahold of Me on Facebook or Ig and I can explain more.

Damn it, I had em going on cardboard super hard but not enough nutes to get em ripping, I'll give this a try, but I'll have to wait till next November gaataaamnit.
You can actually do this at anytime. You could even take that cardboard and put it to woodchips. I usually am always making woodchip spawn. It's something I just do all the time. There are many woodlovers to try. If anyone is ever looking for any I have a large selection. Just shoot me a dm on Facebook or IG.
@@HappiHyphae Yeah I know, but I'm talking about virgin spawn... The place I'm at sucks for firing up my PC and petri dishes, and the chips were sht and busted out competitor fungi and overran everything for this year... I just like your non way of pasteurization for hardwood chips and I'll for sure try it next season. Also, do you have any other favorite ways, for instance, what if I did PC a few gallons of chips, is it too clean and allows competition to go wild or??
@@topfeedcoco what are you referring to by Virgin spawn? And I have seen people have great success boiling chips. That's great for small projects or if your just trying to get some innoculated chips. But in my opinion what I show in the video is best. It just makes sense also. When you put the chips under water for 2 weeks or more it goes annrobic with bacteria. @@HappiHyphae Indeed there are many woodlovers my girlfriend loves some wood to man.
Went out to the Washington coast last fall a few times and found about 17 grams dried total of Azurescens, plus about 13 dried of cyanescens. Looking forward to more this year but it’s heavy competition. Wondering if I need to inoculate my spawn in colder temps as well or is room temp fine?
Great video I definitely feel more comfortable attempting wood lovers now. Only question is are the cloth plugs something you buy or fabricate?
The cloth pots are what cannabis growers use to grow in. But people grow all types of stuff they should be at any garden center. They are on Amazon. But they don't have anyrhing to do with anything. I just had them laying around. I'm just using them to let the spawn run. But you cam use anything. Plastic 5 gallon bucket whatever. In the end you really want to make a patch in the ground outside. Or you can leave it in the pots. It's all preference. But you do not have to use those same pots or use those at all.

Interesting video, I’ve never done wood chip spawn. I just take some of the caps, toss them in the blender with some water and filter though cheese cloth. I then load the spore water in a super soaker and go for a walk soaking down any likely looking spots. This looks more effective and less conspicuous, I used to get nervous walking around with anything gun like in my hands through the park. ✌️
@@texaspowerman awesome! 😆. If you start with colonized chips and add to other chips you are speeding up the process also!
Why not pine chips ?
I don't know if it's the sap or what. I think it will work just way slower. Most people just always use wood from hardwood trees!

Its also dependent on species too! Some of the Mexican specie and others definitely grow in pine forests and off pine cones. But for best results for the things we are doing here. Hardwood chips have proven to work the best.
