I've always known that Jason sang backing vocals during their live performances but this is the first time I've heard him sing lead. He's a good singer.

As of today, Robert has been with Metallica for 17 years. In contrast Jason lasted 15 years. I'm sure I'm not the only one that sees Robert as the "replacement" still.
Because when rob came, metallica already become an established band, achievement-wise not as much as cliff and jason, but nevertheless rob is a terrific bassist

At this point I see Rob as an integral part of the band. He's already 3 albums deep and matches their energy. Remember, they were all already getting up there in age when Rob joined. Jason just looks so much better in contrast because they were all younger and full of energy (not to take away from the fact that Jason is still a complete fucking animal on stage).
His vocals are next level angry, I love it! Also, I remember this. Live Metallica in their prime. A hyper, awesome bassist, Kirk playing perfectly, and James vocals being perfectly spot on

As much as I think robs a good bloke I just can't let the fact go how much I loved the band with Jason in it. I hit my teens in the early 90's and for me it was and forever will be the Jason era.

And finally, so what? They’re still fully capable of singing. Your voice and vocal cords start to deteriorate usually after 65. And James is fully capable of singing at almost the same level as he was in the late 90s. In terms of motor functions though, they HAVE indeed become weak, which comes from age, which is why Kirk has gotten a bit sloppy in the past few years. But what he meant was their creativity both in their live performances of their old songs, and writing new songs, and they started going downhill in that regard. Plus, they weren’t “on their 60s” in the albums after the Black Album

For me Jason is the bassist now this could be a generational argument? One thing i will say is as far as I'm concerned Jason 100% made the right decision leaving Metallica. First of all it took a hell of a lot to even get in when you hear interviews on the audition process, got bullied for years and just had gratitude because as far as he was concerned he had the best gig on the plant. After however many years of touring and from what my understanding is zero chances to have any real creative input the guy wanted a year to do his thing with echobrain and then to be shafted by James and still hold no ill feeling towards Metallica says a hell of a lot about his character
