The 2024 Kia EV9 GT-Line Is A Superb Family SUV That Happens To Be Electric

  • Even if you aren’t quite looking to go electric, the all-new #KiaEV9 is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a 3-row family SUV that is far more modern versus the current #KiaTelluride. The #EV9GTLine is currently the most powerful and sportiest variant until #Kia brings out an actual #EV9 GT, but with up to 300 miles of range and plenty of room for up to 7-people, this Family SUV will make you think twice about spending extra for a luxury brand.

    The EV9 drives as nice or BETTER than a GLS, X7, Aviator, etc. It definitely feels like an expensive cars. But I do believe 75K+ is too much money. I think the top trim should be 70K max.
    People have to remember Grand Cherokee L, Explorers, new Acadia, CX-90, Grand Highlanders, etc can all surpass 60K MSRP. Some go for 70K+ too. If Hyundai could offer a 125KWh battery for 70K it would be a great alternative. Should easily get 300 miles of range and with the 800v architecture should fast stupid fast for an EV

    • @ayushmalpeddi2793
      @ayushmalpeddi2793 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@chiemekaa iX is grossly overpriced. Also one of the ugliest vehicle on sale. For 75K-80K I would rather have the Rivian R1S Standard+ for under 80K. Not as luxurious as Ev9 and also misses some creature comforts, but the R1S suspension, capability, cargo space, and the massive 121KWh usable battery make it more appealing IMO.
      Honestly KIA/Hyundai are probably my favorite mainstream brands atm, but 78K is pricing them out of the market they are suppose to be competing in. Especially because the Telluride SX Prestige has always been a bargain in the segment for about 50K. I don't really see that competitive MSRP pricing with the EV9. Luckily dealers are offering massive discounts. Can find the top trims for under 70K if you are patient which I think is a great deal if the range works for you. I really do think though if they gave it a larger battery it would make it perfect. Especially because with the car full the range will drop even more.

    Great review, and nice car! A few issues:
    1. The interior door panels are a bit bland and the plastics are too "budget" given the cost.
    2. Way too much piano black trim outside which is going to look terrible in a very short period of time. Would be nice to have a fully-loaded, Hyundai-XRT equivalent with more rugged plastics on the outside but full luxury on the inside.
    3. Not having a 3-seater middle bench seat option for ALL trim levels is dumb.

    Nice car and I’ve seen a few on the road but it’s Too expensive for a Kia and too expensive for the masses. Just Wait until Kia can’t sell them (which is now by the way,) and get a steep discount on a used one with only a few thousand miles. Used 2024 GT lines are already going for around $55-$60,000 and that’s still too expensive for most people.
    And why do these reviewers keep making a big deal about the front trunk? No one uses them anyway especially not in a Tesla. If you push the Tesla front hood down too hard you’ll end up putting a dent in it. That’s why they are called SUVs. Just use the backseat and the rear trunk. They’re always much larger.🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @Aegisx5
      @Aegisx5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      People said the same thing about the Telluride. $50K for a Kia!? But the fact of the matter is, they offer a lot for the money, a long warranty, and the quality is as good or better than any other mainstream brand.
      I have a Rivian R1S and the front trunk is a great feature. It's power up/down and the size of a small sedan trunk, very usable, and we use it all the time. Especially because you can open/close it in the garage without opening the garage door first. Tesla's is too small and manual open/close, plus no exterior button makes it less convenient.

My bet is that 99.9% of EV9 buyers are not single, the average American family is 4, you put 4 people into that EV, load it up with strollers, a few suitcases for a weekend trip, and we all know EV loses range once over 70mph. Real world range test is put another 300lbs into the car, drive between 70mph-75mph, and I bet the result is a lot less then advertised.

      @XX-166 Rivian has enough cash flow to release the R2 and is backed by Amazon. Lucid is backed by the Saudi investment fund. Neither is going bankrupt any time soon, and worst case they both have unique intellectual property, software, service, manufacturing facilities etc. and would be bought up. Unlike Fisker which contracts all their manufacturing and service, and owns nothing.
