- The 2024 Kia EV9 ($63,183 starting in Canada, $56,395 starting in the US) is a brand new 3 row electric SUV that can be had in both rear wheel drive and twin-motor all-wheel drive form. In its longest range rear-drive trim, Kia claims a range of 489 km - up from the 370 km range found in the base trim.
A hefty 379 horsepower and 516 lb ft of torque come with the twin-motor all-wheel drive trims, and the higher AWD trims come with a 6 seat captain chair setup instead of the usual 7 seats. But how does it fare as a people-hauling EV SUV? And how is it to live with? Thomas and James are excited to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. SUBSCRIBE!

1:29 this caught every single soul off guard lmao
Cadillaiq exec is in shambles
I accidentally spit the food out of my mouth
I was eating lunch, but between bites, thank god! lol @@benjamineveland4828
came to the comment just for this lmao
Not only does it sound like D*ck, to be it even skins like Fish stick a little with the obvious jokes there to most internet people
1:28 this is peak 2024 throttle house
I was going to do this, but of course I am too late, hahaha.
great bit of ligma
@@jamesasc7709 Ben Dover was here.
1:28, I spat out my coffee. 🤣🤣🤣
luckily I was between sips!
No you didn't
😂
GM needs to use that Vistiq joke in it's marketing campaign.
Eine Menge Autos, sind Schwanzverlängerungen ❕️😜
I get that it's a penis size joke, but it's pretty dry unless there's something else I'm missing. With this many likes and no one else asking, maybe I'm the lone swoosh this time.
I get it's a size joke but unless there's something I'm missing it's really dry. With this many likes and nobody asking, maybe I'm the lone swoosh this time.
@@kenhiett5266 Ken, it's not a size joke. James is using Vistiq as a rather amusing homophone for "This Dck". His accent works perfectly for this joke.
Kind of, like a few years ago, there was a commercial about shipping things (from Target, I think) people saying, I ship my pants, I ship the bed, etc.😂
1:28 good to see that Cadillac is making big moves against stiff competition
Ayo, this dude is sus! 🤨
I’d like to know if Vistiq goes into limp mode if it overheats or something…
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😆👌
A big Vistiq and also two large Esticalades ESVs.
That Cadillac joke by James was absolutely hilarious 🤣🤣🔥🔥
@1:28 I normally don’t watch the electric reviews but I’m glad I saw this one😂😂😂
I'm like did I hear that correctly but wow
wait till u see vistiq!
Too many like yourself just ignore anything EV, but EV tech is advancing rapidly and ICE can’t really advance much more… EV just keep getting better and better and don’t have the same limitations that ICE have. Most people who ignore EVs would be genuinely surprised by how much better they are getting, all the time. In the future they will automatically charge from the road as you’re driving, and you’ll simply have a plan like a mobile phone, and you’ll *never* have to manually charge again or go to any petrol station. This is something that will happen based on the direction the tech is heading.
@@jamesgallagher2434 yeah man, ICE cant advance much more lmao bruh my 17 year old diesel goes 1200 km on a single tank. I fill it up and I'm good for 2 weeks. fuckin evs cost 60k euros to go 250 km in the winter, if even that ? the fuck are you talking about. also, my car weighs 1300kg, not some fuckin tank going down the road with 2.5 tonnes
@@jamesgallagher2434 Part of the reason some people ignore everything EV is exactly because of the obnoxious reminders (like yours) of unrealistic expectations that are pushed out by EV marketing teams who think their engineers are some sort of sorcerers.
Constant promises of techonlogy that will be everywhere in as little as 5... sorry 10... erm, 20... I mean, in as little as 50 years.
\end of rant
EVs *are* evolving rapidly, but we're not there yet, and we won't be there with anything that's coming to market this year. So people are safe not to watch reviews for now, unless they're fascinated with the advancement of technology by itself. (But then it's probably better to read up on engineering deep-dives instead of a casual car review.)
Just the most perfect joke. Creative, perfectly delivered, not at all forced.
Met these boys at the Toronto Auto Show this past weekend, they were so kind and patiently gave everyone the chance to chat and take photos. Much appreciated for giving us that great experience
They were there????
Love these 2 guys - they are very funny and their car takes are top notch
Guys here's how great your content is: I have ZERO interest in this vehicle, yet I still reflexively watched the entire video as soon as I saw it. It's gold like the Vistiq gag that does it. Awesome job as always.
Too poor?
@TheRealCatof Yes.😁 Also just no interest in this class of vehicle in general.
It's hideous. @@TheRealCatof
@@TheRealCatofI could afford it, I just would never buy it. I would much rather spend $80k on a used R8 or something like that.
@@hudsonr6358 I mean, if you want something that's broken down and in the shop all the time, go ahead.
1:28 I really want a recoding of that Cadillac Marketing Department meeting when they decided on that name. They is no way that even a single person was sober in that room.
Yup right up there with scat pack 😅 at stelantis, I’d have loved to have been in that meeting too. 😂
Been in the market for a 3 row SUV. I test drove the EV9 gtline because of this review and now I have a Kia ev9 in my driveway.
One of the few channels you can thumbs up a video before you even watch it. Good job as always team.
The door handle finger removal comment had me rolling. Can't stop thinking about James shredding carrots on the Cyber Truck door edge 😂
Not to mention chopping carrots as the hood closes…
Yeah, I’ve had my hand in the S door handles when they retracted and it’s a similar mechanism. Some sort of spring that keeps it from pinching your fingers.
1:30 Had me dying 😂 the way he gestured with his hands 😂😂
1:29
*James* : so potentially it still not as big as Vistiq.
*Thomas* : Sorry. What?
I felt that.
Although I heard they've managed to make it MUCH STIFFER!
Haha, and that wheelbase a bit longer.@@StreetPreacherr
you felt vistiq? sus
You can't miss it.@@lolickypeepee23xdd6
The hand positions when he said Vistiq was just perfect. Bravo!!!
He did a DX "Suck It!"
It really sold it
Oh shit, i'm literally in tears at the Vistiq comment. @ 1:28 is absolute PEAK TH-cam!! Love this channel
I just drove mine ~400 miles with a total of ~50 minutes of charging. It was an easy, pleasant trip.
Visdick joke is a bomb but THE END. Come on James, that’s too funny.
1:54 "So that is a competitor that's...coming". Well played, sir.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 the Cadillac name was right on cue
Perfect car for our resident gay fish, Kanye.
Gentlemen, I reached a dangerous state of mind where I instantly like your videos even before I watched it. So far I have no regrets. Keep up the great work! Greetings from Hungary!
Best 3 row electric car. They have every tech and functionality I need. The Kia's EV line is so nice
Hey guys the Tesla Supercharger will be open to Kia/Hyundai EV’s starting in 2025 in Canada and end of 2024 in USA.
That ending was perfect 😂
i love the cutoff point at the end lol
We had rear facing seats in the back of station wagons as well. Only they were Buicks, Oldsmobile's, Fords, Mercurys, Etc. So much fun making faces at people behind you in traffic as a kid.
Thomas didn't get that one: So thats a competitor, that is coming 😂😂
Love these two guys👍
3:22
Thomas is still thinking about WHAT?
With James just cheesin' it at the camera. XD
I have the same trim except interior is brown/black. I’m getting 369 miles of range. I’ve tested it and yes I’m getting the full amount of miles displayed. Every time I drive it up’s my miles in the display.
How long have you had it for?
@@mkochhar since Jan 18
@1:30 im absolutely dying!
You guys always make my day 10x better with your videos. Thank you for existing....
Nothing like a good vis diq joke in the morning. 😂 This looks even better in person, I’m shocked it only has a 6/7 seat option and no 8.
First time I've ever properly laughed watching a car review apart frome the trio (JC, RH, JM).
would you mind expanding your abbreviated youtube channels? I'm not familiar, thank you
@mm6705 Those are just the initials of the old british top gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Amazingly entertaining ahow they put on. My wife, who could not care less about cars, would watch it with me.
Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it.
11:24 ..."and I'm James" 😂❤🏁
Test drove this today it’s solid for sure.
Have you bought one since? Or something else?
@@JamarD421 nope, decided to wait it out the finance options are crazy currently
Very funny. The cut at “throb” as well. Good old juvenile humour at its best. 👏
This just won the COTY for a major Australian Automotive publication. That said, they generally award that to the manufacturer that pays them the best. It was the Ford Ranger last year
To be fair, it does seem to be getting pretty good reviews everywhere
Great review, and hilarious. Thanks, guys!
"And it's gonna thro...". Thanks, I didn't need to hear that.
THANK YOU for the laughs. This is why I love your videos.
Great episode!
The Rivian R1S drives a lot better now with the software update. I collected mine in Toronto last month, you guys are welcome to test it out to compare.
Yeah, but it costs twice as much
@@TheRealCatofI know they are not direct competitors, I was responding to 7:10 where they said it rides better than the Rivian. Also, since I had my pre-order in before the price increase, my Rivian was a $101k CAD, so it's not significantly higher than the EV9, I was cross shopping between the two.
This is the only channel where I even consider watching electric vehicle reviews. So that’s saying something
Between the Vistiq joke and the aLexus Texas joke, James never stopped cooking LMAO
I am so happy to hang out with you guys virtually. I need some friends to laugh with.
James is a true comedy genius
Thomas looking around at rapid speed after the Cadillac joke while film was rolling is fantastic
1:29 is why this is on the Extra channel 😂
In Korea this car has been struggling to sell, prompting Kia to put a hefty discount, of nearly 30%. Some people claimed that they've bought the car for around KRW 60m (45K USD) from its original price of 77m (58k USD). Interesting to learn that this car is technically cheaper than its rivals at its "weight class" of 3 row electric SUV. I feel like KIA/Hyundai has been knocking things out of the park nowadays. Cool video as always!
You guys are the best car review comedy team since the Top Gear trio
That center row trash bin is kinda nice
That Vistiq joke was perfect, lol.
No one will hear the right name for Cadillac's new model and not grin from ear to ear thanks to Thomas' reaction. Thank you both
Just got ours last weekend. Love it.
Ioniq 5N next
1:29 I wasn't expecting this level of humor on the Extra channel😂😂😂 you guys are the best
That vistiq joke floored me lmao. You guys are running this TH-cam game.
I’ve been watching you guys doing reviews for ages, and going round a roundabout on the right is still terrifying to witness 😂
A budget 3 row ❤ the world needed this
This is why we love these boys
1:29 is why I can't watch these at work. coffee. all over the keyboard.
i saw them at the dealership. genuinely impressed
I got an ev9 gt line too. It’s really nice
Never change you two ❤
1:30 had me crying in my house with the baby sleeping 😂
Yessssss
You guys are legends
You two are the only one's that can inform me and make me laugh hysterically
Base being under 60k for such large electric SUV, looks promising. Also hope Kia restrains the stealerships from ruining the same by dropping massive markups on top of MSRP.
Road pizza is the term used in N Cakilaky, great review as always!!
What a beautiful looking car.. looks like a concept with the headlights
So many vistiq jokes flying around in my head, you know like the hardness of the ride and such 😂
Cadillac joke > anything on Comedy Central
as someone with an OCD to keep the car interiors clean, kudos for not taking those dirty shoes into the second row, James. :) Interior looks really cool on this one.
You guys should do a review on the forte GT!
“Potentially it’s still not as long as Vistiq!” 😂
😂😂😂😂
James had us all in the 1st half
I don't know if the Vistiq joke or Thomas' reaction to the Vistiq joke was funnier 😂 Thomas really thought they just lost the whole take
I like how it looks
Immediately tapped thumbs up at visdiq
The fact that I break ouit laughing while they do...is a sign of people creating a true masterpiece of a video
I just drove this spec back to back with the Cadillac lyriq at the san jose auto show. The EV9 was a top spec and the caddy was a one step up from base. Both were around $70k us. The back seat was so basic and uncomfortable in the Cadillac no heated seats and the front seats were only heated and it was harsh over speed bumps. Then i got in the kia and turned on a massage, adjusted the leg rest and put on the cooled seat and looked around at a nicer more feature packed interior. And the ride was better and it felt faster. I had big hopes for Cadillac but it was a huge let down. Backup camera was really high quality though on the Cadillac.
Look, i am a car enthusiast through and through. I live vicariously through your reviews to get a sense of what potential automotive choices i might consider once i win the lottery. Ponder this: could you use even 10% of the praise and superlatives bestowed upon this EV for any Kia product 10 years ago? It amazes me how far this company has come. They are leap frogging Japanese and US auto manufacturers when you consider their EV line up. Impressive in my opinion.
1:28 thomas peaked
Looks good ❤👍
Sweet video, I love it when Thomas said someone is "C*&K Blocking" the other charger, damn near feel off my chair!!!!!!! LMFO
Oddly if TH-cam was a buffet then these videos are my dessert round. Food videos too.
Such a gorgeous car
I m not buying this ev9…. But i watched the whole show… very entertaining.
TG style finally back!!!!
At 1:29 I audibly let out a “James???!”
The quit fire is what I would have done too 😂😂😂 and also Garrett is daddy af with this brown shirt
I heard that the Vistiq is even SMALLER than Cadillac’s newer model coming out some time in the near future, the Vis-coq.
With so many things changing, it's nice that we can count on the things that don't. Like James's war on subtlety.
3:22 James could respond with “wanna see it again?”
I test drove the Kia EV nine a few days ago. It’s best described as the Kia equivalent of a Ford Explorer with a third row.
The third row is not that great but the first row and second row are fantastic for an electric vehicle. You get heated and ventilated seats all around for the first two rows and this plenty of space for the first two rows. The third row is best for small kids. The only vehicle that I’ve test driven with a third row fit for full-size adults is the grand Wagoneer.
I am a very big guy at close to 6‘7“. I set in the Kia EV nine the same way I sit in the Ford Explorer and the Ford expedition which is to say that I had plenty of space and could easily drive that car for 1000 miles Without much fatigue. Pretty much every feature that I’d expect an EV was there, including Hyundai/Kia adaptive cruise control with autonomous steering. That feature is fantastic when you’re stuck in traffic. There’s also a massage feature for the driver, although I’m not certain if the passenger seat can get it to.
I often think of James's Vistiq
When this video ended, I got an ad that started with "that's massive"
I had to wipe the coffee off my keyboard to write this comment.
Telluride comparison is helpful. I keep seeing this thing in thumbnails and thought it was an electric Soul.
I stopped at five is the most true statement they’ve ever sent
