I have been watching tons of gear vids! This was so nice and concise. Honestly I think so many controllers have too many bells and whistles..but this FLX10 is so intuitive. I'm from the school - a controller doesn't make a DJ. But thiis FLX10 looks like it could take your performance and eye hand control to new levels. Im honestly thkn of returning it and switch bk to Pioneer. I have the DDJ SX and it has been wonderful for me but I knew it was time to upgrade. Also wana know can I use the DMX while using Serato and not Rekordbox?
Great side by side hardware review! I own the DDJ-1000 and the RB-DMX1 and I still ordered this within an hour of it releasing. The biggest selling point for me was the instant doubles for stems, allowing me granular control of the stems on channels 3/4. That, along with per-stem FX, and it was an instant buy. People will complain about the quality of the stems, but not only was it an intentional decision by Pioneer to make the stems lower quality to allow more systems to be able to handle them, the quality is hardly noticeable when you are mid-mix. Overall, this was an easy buy and will be the flagship for the next half-decade.
I was wondering this too! I googled them and they’re around £100 each, so not sure if I will do it, but if someone makes a vid on It I’d defo consider. I hate the jog rings on these
@@Msantor1605 I spoke to someone from the Pioneer DJ development and design team and he told me that whilst the top of the jogs are the same as the DDJ 1000’s, the inside is completely reworked, and therefore the jog surrounds unfortunately won’t fit. Great comparison, but I must say I'm sticking to my ddj1000 not much of a upgrade to warrant a new controller specially when it's geared to just rekordbox and serato, yes you get it, I'm a virtual dj lover as I have had the pro software for well over 15year, I don't intend to purchase another software just to get a new controller, plus I have tried rekordbox as a trial at begin and had many glitches with it, maybe all iron out now, but I'm heard the stems separation is not great, hence not upgrading only if and when virtual dj maps it or another new controller hit the market and take my fancy, 😔
Great controller, but you don't have to upgrade to the Flx 10 . If you are using rekorbox 6 all you have to do is midi mapp the buttons you want to use for stems track seperation
I bought flx10 only because it’s not possible to buy a ddj1000 anymore. I just like the ddj1000 much more. Only what I like on flx10 is better crossfader and the lcd screens. Maybe fx working for isolated parts is a nice add up. But stems itself I don’t need. And the design of jogwheels of flx10 is very disturbing (I don’t like the whole flx series but I want an upgrade). I still wait for the shipment but I also know I will love it despite loving ddj1000 much more :)
You won’t be able to get a brand new ddj1000 unless some left overs in warehouse in few shops across the world but the chances to find it will be very low. Despite the design, I love how flx 10works, it’s better than ddj1000 with performance. No issues with it :)
The jogwheels are a little bit loose but I got responses from many top DJs that it seems normal. Some models are without it but it doesn’t affect anything at all except being scared at first :)
Great compassion. I am hoping that Pioneer will come out with the FLX version to upgrade the DDJ 800. I will love to see it overwise I will have to save up and wait for b4 I can get the FLX 10.
If price wasn’t a factor for t would be a no brainer. I recently got a new ddj1000 for half the rrp of the flx10 so I’m happy since I can midi map most of the features I’m missing out on
@Steven Shearer awesome ideas to customise. Yeah I’ve been loving it. I paid a few hundred Aussie bucks more than half price but they chucked in some monitors worth $400 so that worked out round about half price. The features of the flx10 seem sooooo similar. in my opinion, the DDJ-FLX10 is just a small upgrade of the DDJ-1000, sure some features were added, some removed, and others improved, but maybe in practice, both are the same thing that performs the same.. .
@Steven Shearer my consumer desire has always been the DDJ1000, I believe it was one of the best equipment ever produced, so much so that they launched the DDJ-FLX10 with the same aesthetics and more advanced features, in other words, let's say it is an update of the DDJ1000
@Steven Shearer I also think friend... because let's be honest... DDJ1000, there is no better device... not even the XDJ-XZ which is an incredible piece of equipment, it gets to be as good as the 1000, even if the XZ doesn't depend on a notebook, but For me, without a doubt, the 1000 has always been and always will be my consumer dream, too bad the prices in Brazil are very high due to the amount of taxes...
Was thinking about getting the flx 10 but after seeing its even bigger than my 1000 I don't think I will bother. I feel like they could makes these a little smaller tbh
are there L shaped male connections available? do u think its forehead will fit in a proX XS ddj 1000 flightcase?- as it also seems to be fitted for the FX 06 mk model
I have a question. In my parties i have guests that use recordbox and i am actually using serato. Can we mix at the same time on dj on recorbox and the other in serato without problems?
about the pads, honestly I think those of my ddj1000 are better as I'm afraid that then with the use of the black color of those of the flx10 it will go away
I didn't see much difference. high-quality displays and dmh. except dmh everything else is secondary. I use Serato on my 1000srt and have added the stems feature to the slicer. the operation of stems on rubber pads is much more practical, faster and more efficient than on small built-in buttons. thanks for the review
Nice comparison. I was waiting for someone to do a side by side. Couple questions here. The build. Is it made of plastic and feel cheap? Or does it feel like quality like actually cdjs 2000 nx2 and a djm 900 nx2? How's the jog wheel feel? Similar to the 1000s? Better? I heard the sound card is better and the phono lines are much better than the 1000s original. That true? Appreciate your time! Cheers 🍻
I have tryed the ddj1000 and the cdj2000s with 900nsx2. I can tell the difference in the mixer, knobs are not as good, the jog wheel is not too different but actually is not as heavy as the cdjs. To have the same experience as the cdj better to go with the ddj xz, I was surprise when I touch it feels like cdjs 2000 with 900nsx2 mixer. Anyway going back to the flx10. The knows and the job wheel looks same as the ddj1000. So I guess is gonna be the same, better than any other small jog wheel and mixer but not as good as the ddj xz or actual cdjs and proper mixer.
@@beatslucas Yeh I've actually never tried a ddj 1000. Been trying to get my hands on one for almost a year now (befofe anyone knew the Flx 10 was coming out) and it was just impossible. Back ordered by Pioneer, anyone selling used wanted ridiculous prices for a used piece of equipment and not under warranty. So I held off! I'm glad I did. The ddj 1000 I heard was the closest controller to the flagship club standard set up aka cdj 2000 nx2 and djm 900 nx2. That being said. Is the 1000 cheap feel and plastic or did it feel well built and crafted? I guess my point is for the extra few hundred dollars for thr flx 10 vs the ddj1000 are you paying solely for the few extra features? DMX output for lighting USB C connectivity 4 sensor crossfader now vs 2 Rekordbox stems Mix link technology Compatible with both RB and Serato Etc etc etc Or is it also manufactured better? Feel more sturdy and not cheaply made compared to the ddj 1000. Built better or just as good kinda thing?
@@beatslucas I've only read reviews and watched a few videos since yesterday but nobody has actually talked about the body of it and how it feels and if it's solid or cheap feeling........ I guess that's my main question if anyone knows. Or how does the ddj 1000 feel in terms of it being built? I've played on club cdjs and mixers for years so obvi know what those feel like. XDJ xz is obvi amazing but the price is too much for me!
@@rubenreyes3125 I have never tryed the flx10. But for what I see in the videos the knobs, jog wheel look exactly the same as the ddj 1000 so I guess is the exactly the same quality. I think there is not difference in quality between those too. So if for you the new upgrades of the flx10 are worthy go for it, otherwise ddj 1000 still a great piece of hardware for the price.
@@beatslucas ok so for the ddj 1000 (assuming the flx10 is built the same or better) how is the quality of the build. Body and everything? Does it seem cheap and plastic like? Or quality build and durable and not cheap at all?
@@gregstus i don't think so.. the opus quad is Nice piece that matches your interior. But the opus quad is not the Clubstandard like we use to get from pioneer.. so yeah im waiting for An xz2.
I think the FLX10 is genius by pioneer, people will buy it to use serato stems which are 'better' realise they cant use it due to processing power of their existing laptop, but instead of going and buying a new £1K laptop macbook air M1 onwards, they will just switch to rekordbox, and it just works... then when they use rekordbox and realise library management is awesome, FX are killer by comparison with Pad effects too, they will transition over fully. Has everyone missed this point? if the FLX10 was only serato, then this would not be marketable indirectly. and the fact it has DMX too, well, its the nail in the coffin for serato, with £8 per month soundswitch subscriptions, and additional hardware. I really fancy the FLX10, to replace my Roland DJ707m, I think its awesome.
i do not think the flx is a true replacement. i watched the pioneer video and he talks about the different pattern in the jog wheels signifying that it belongs to the flx series not the ddj 1000 series. we might see a refreshed 1000 for the same price point at some point down the line
I think I saw the same video. He says the FLX series is replacing the current range where there have been two models. One for each software. This IS the DDJ1000 replacement, Pioneer have said so. We think it's a worthy update.
Yes it replaces the DDJ1000 (both versions). The 1000 hasn't been available in any reasonable numbers for nearly 3 years due to component shortages. With new and more available components and by combining both software to one unit, there should be much better supply of the FLX10.
The differences between both units are more esthetic than functional to switch from the DDJ1000 to the FLX-10. Steam separation is not that great in Rekordbox and can be easily made in the DDJ1000. The Opus Quad looks nice, but until Alpha Theta releases a full 4-deck standalone unit like the Denon Prime 4+ I'll keep my DDJ1000
Great comparison man! Thank you! But the question is: s it really worth the 500 dollars more just to have (mainly) the buttons for stems? Personally don’t think so… What do you think?
What are you talking about? Integrated RB-DMX1, much better audio card and phono pre-amps, better jog displays, USB-C. The better sound card alone is a no brainer for me.
@@TheFunkloft What does “better” sound card mean? I’ll bet you $1599 that you couldn’t tell the difference between the two in a blind listening test. You’re just accepting the claim that it’s better. I’ll need hard evidence.
I'm looking at new DJ controller, grown out of my little SB2 that I've had for years lol, its a toss up on the flx10 or the Rane 4, been looking for a ddj 1000 but they are like rocking horse s**t..
My 1000 has been in its box since getting a rev 7 but my pet hate on the rev is that the jog waveforms don't stretch with the pitch and then don't run with the beat grid in parallel once you are matching tracks with a few bpm difference I noticed on the vid, the flx10 does. Is that with both rekordbox and serato?
I just don't feel the draw to upgrade from my DDJ-1000SRT. I love Serato, but the new features on the FLX-10 for stems just isn't going to work. And why didn't Pioneer separate out the bassline/rhythm part/stem when everyone else has? Seems like a missed opportunity, imo. The only thing I see that I'd love to have is the stem/cue. But I have a feeling that's going to happen for me either way in the near future. 100%, not even going to consider selling my SRT for an upgrade. To me, it's just not worth the $1600 price tag (especially since I'm not a RB fan) and I'm certain the price of the DDJ-1000s are about to drop significantly and you still, for the most part, get the same features.
Newer is obviously better, but having a 1000srt I don't see any drastic reason to upgrade. Stems is a big focus on all new controllers but the quality is really hit or miss with them, so the use case of stems is debatable.
In fairness Steve, this is a really good point. I think this FLX10 is less of a big deal to Serato users as you guys have had Stems for a while that you could map to your current controllers. For a rekordbox user, it's a no brainer to upgrade!
The DDJ 1000 Will always remain a future classic. The DDJ FLX 10 is an evolution.

I'm going to get it when I know I can devote the time (and cash). I also want to learn Roland line of controllers soon.
Excellent review, thanks can you also do a review of the features and what it’s like using STEMS on both?
Sure thing! I'll get on the stems comparison, but you can watch my full review here:
th-cam.com/video/pUZqpVVJTMI/w-d-xo.html
im still out here on a ddj-sb so im most definitely gonna upgrade
That's an awesome upgrade 😎
samo bro sb2 here.. need to get 1000$ first
Not letting my 1000SRT go... I'm just getting into it...wish there was a patch to allow the FX to work through VRDJ...
Looks like a nice dj gear. I have a ddj sz. I don't know if I Should replace my sz to flx10. My sz release DVS and flx10 doesn't.
Yea, the FLX10 is DVS compatible for Serato, but not a hardware unlock!
I can't believe the FLX10 doesn't have a nub on the tempo fader to indicate when it's neutral
and i can't understand , why the Hell Pioneer does 6 CFX on FLX 10 so far but still no damn PARAMETER Knob to manupulate the Fxs too much empty place justr wasted 🙄🙄 no Chane to midi Map the Software Parameter Knob aswell , just stupid .. For me FLX 10 only Points in the enhanced Jog Displays ( 3 Band Waveform , Stacked Waveforms , PAD View , ) otherwise not realy New Clubstandard Layouting .. Still too much DDJ-1000 Look. just to leave the outer Rings of the Jogwheel Edges black instead of the silver/Aluminium Look like the DDJ-1000 SRT ..
Well explained. Keep you on mate ❤
Got the Rane 4 two weeks ago practiced on it and used it for the first time tonight at my gig. Wasn’t happy w it Jog was was tight and stems didn’t sound too good.
Instant doubles and stem fx are working with the DDJ1000, as well
Is it possible to replace the jog rings on the Pioneer DDJ-FLX10 with the rings from the Pioneer DDJ-1000?
I was wondering this too! I googled them and they’re around £100 each, so not sure if I will do it, but if someone makes a vid on It I’d defo consider. I hate the jog rings on these
Literally the only thing I don't like...
@@Msantor1605 I spoke to someone from the Pioneer DJ development and design team and he told me that whilst the top of the jogs are the same as the DDJ 1000’s, the inside is completely reworked, and therefore the jog surrounds unfortunately won’t fit. Shame really, but I guess it’s something we need to get used to.
DDJ-1000 you can input a Phono Player in all 4CH, on the DDJ-FLX10 you can input a Phono Player only CH1 and CH4...
Great job on the review.. loved the video.. i think ill stick with the older version
Great controller, but you don't have to upgrade to the Flx 10 . If you are using rekorbox 6 all you have to do is midi mapp the buttons you want to use for stems track seperation
Have you heard rekordbox stems 😂
I bought flx10 only because it’s not possible to buy a ddj1000 anymore. I just like the ddj1000 much more. Only what I like on flx10 is better crossfader and the lcd screens. Maybe fx working for isolated parts is a nice add up. But stems itself I don’t need. And the design of jogwheels of flx10 is very disturbing (I don’t like the whole flx series but I want an upgrade). I still wait for the shipment but I also know I will love it despite loving ddj1000 much more :)
how was the flx10 for you so far? i am planning to buy a flx 10 because i can t find the 1000 no more :(
You won’t be able to get a brand new ddj1000 unless some left overs in warehouse in few shops across the world but the chances to find it will be very low. Despite the design, I love how flx 10works, it’s better than ddj1000 with performance. No issues with it :)
@@daversqq thank you for your response! Any problems with the fact that the crossfader doesn’t have a neutral +0- click?
The jogwheels are a little bit loose but I got responses from many top DJs that it seems normal. Some models are without it but it doesn’t affect anything at all except being scared at first :)
As goes for the jogwheels it affects all mechanical jogs, 1000 had same issue for most users
Great compassion. I am hoping that Pioneer will come out with the FLX version to upgrade the DDJ 800. I will love to see it overwise I will have to save up and wait for b4 I can get the FLX 10.
How do you enable Master Tempo?
I just hope there are new cases coming soon
If price wasn’t a factor for t would be a no brainer. I recently got a new ddj1000 for half the rrp of the flx10 so I’m happy since I can midi map most of the features I’m missing out on
@Steven Shearer awesome ideas to customise. Yeah I’ve been loving it. I paid a few hundred Aussie bucks more than half price but they chucked in some monitors worth $400 so that worked out round about half price. The features of the flx10 seem sooooo similar. I wonder if the audio quality is any different
I see the ddj1000 now for AU$1500 which is less than half of the flx10!
@@daft009 that’s an awesome price , where at?
I also just picked up a 1000 rekordbox for a killer price. I'll just map the new features.
Great video, but master tempo and key synch are not the same thing
Hello, does the flight case of DDj-1000 fit to flx-10's ? thanks.
Just bought one! definitely looking forward to it being shipped in the coming days :D
Hope you enjoy it! Don't forget to sub and check out my full review of the FLX10 here:

@@kaicanada7213 As soon as I heard the news about it (eight hours after it being released) I went straight to Guitar Center's website and ordered one to be shipped to a local location. Hopefully you'll find one soon!

Love the new background!!
Hey Mac! Thanks mate! It was a personalised cave design from my boy iDope:
instagram.com/illicitlydope/
in my opinion, the DDJ-FLX10 is just a small upgrade of the DDJ-1000, sure some features were added, some removed, and others improved, but maybe in practice, both are the same thing that performs the same..
DDJ1000, there is no better device... not even the XDJ-XZ which is an incredible piece of equipment, it gets to be as good as the 1000, even if the XZ doesn't depend on a notebook, but For me, without a doubt, the 1000 has always been and always will be my consumer dream, too bad the prices in Brazil are very high due to the amount of taxes...
i dj using serato so with the controller can i use rekordbox in the background for lighting or nah?
Was thinking about getting the flx 10 but after seeing its even bigger than my 1000 I don't think I will bother. I feel like they could makes these a little smaller tbh
are there L shaped male connections available? do u think its forehead will fit in a proX XS ddj 1000 flightcase?- as it also seems to be fitted for the FX 06 mk model
Ally J in the House!!
,The 1000 SRT is always supreme, i use it with virtual dj, for its STEM features
how can I add logo on jogwheel for ddj1000srt. I use VDJ does that matter?
I have a question. In my parties i have guests that use recordbox and i am actually using serato. Can we mix at the same time on dj on recorbox and the other in serato without problems?
Yes
I’m wondering if they’re gonna release an upgraded xdj xz. I’d like an all in one but the opus doesn’t do it for me.
wish the Opus had the performance pads
They will 100% release an updated XZ, it's just a matter of time! The Opus was never a replacement for the XZ, it's in a range of it's own!
flx10 looks wicked, but why the fuck did they take out the tempo faders mid click. thats shite
Why the USB C though. That's bound to pop out at the first inconvenient moment.
I have already mapped my buttons i wasn't using for stems
can 1000bag fit flx10 ?
about the pads, honestly I think those of my ddj1000 are better as I'm afraid that then with the use of the black color of those of the flx10 it will go away
Can I connect the FLX 1000 with the DDJ-FLX 10?
Flx 10 looks great... but won't be upgrading my 1000 srt anytime soon
Pioneer FLX10 support in Virtual DJ build 7533
Which studio monitors are those behind you?
M-Audio BX8s!
why’d they get rid of the center bump on tempo? bummer
DMX output for lighting
USB C connectivity
4 sensor crossfader now vs 2
Rekordbox stems
Mix link technology
Compatible with both RB and Serato
Etc etc etc
Or is it also manufactured better?
Also the Flx brings back DDJ-SZ vibes...
Wasn’t completely necessary but I’ve upgraded from the 1000 to FLX10
Can you add cdj's to the ddj-flx10?
Absolutely! Check out the full feature review here:

Should i get one or should i wait for a new xz?
The XZ is being replaced by the OPUS QUAD to my understanding
@@gregstus i don't think so.. the opus quad is Nice piece that matches your interior. But the opus quad is not the Clubstandard like we use to get from pioneer.. so yeah im waiting for An xz2.
@@jaspertheys5752 XDJ-FLXZ ahah
We think it's a worthy update.
ddj 1000👍👍👍 i dj from malaysia
the DDJ 1000 is still way better looking ✨✨✨
very interested in FLX 10, especially with DMX control and STEMS, currently using DDJ - RR thx for review
Will this replace the DDJ 1000 or will the 1000 still be available 🤔
Rane 4 kick both of their arses... 👍🏾😎👍🏾
@@Rambo-dg7mr for Serato maybe. For Rekordbox it's not an option though.
Flx10 ❤️❤️
hate that the flx doesn't have a centre click
Great comparison man! Thank you! But the question is: s it really worth the 500 dollars more just to have (mainly) the buttons for stems? Personally don’t think so… What do you think?
Hey Tony, it's a great question mate! For me, it's a yes. But, I am a mashup DJ so these features are really important to me!

Can DDJ FLX10 work with RMX 1000?
Not properly and the RMX 1000 requires send and return!
I have a DDJ, 1000 SRT and search buttons are actually beat jump
Perhaps that's a Serato feature then, as the 1000 in this video is the rekordbox version.
I'm looking at new DJ controller, grown out of my little SB2 that I've had for years lol, its a toss up on the flx10 or the Rane 4, been looking for a ddj 1000 but they are like rocking horse s**t..
TBH, the FLX10 is probably going to be like Rocking Horse S**t as well now 😂
My 1000 has been in its box since getting a rev 7 but my pet hate on the rev is that the jog waveforms don't stretch with the pitch and then don't run with the beat grid in parallel once you are matching tracks with a few bpm difference
I noticed on the vid, the flx10 does. Is that with both rekordbox and serato?
DJ Controller 1000srt and DJ Flx10 is the same modular sounds.
oof no center click on the tempo adjust
From the prices I’m seeing right now online, the DDJ1000 is more expensive than the DDJ FLX 10.
it's better than the Dj - 1000 I'll buy my Flx10
Thanks for the video. About the waveform colours, what ever you set in the software that's what appears on the ddj-1000. Not only a blue colour.
