An absolute classic album that ALL music fans should hear.....so far ahead of its time.....without this band there would never have been Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and so many others....... truly underrated band.
Even though the debut album isn't a go-to out of the catalog, dUg 's amazing vocals and the sonic quality keeps me coming back to songs like Far, Far Away.
One reason folks here are having trouble hearing the bass is that dUg uses all kinds of effects and splits his bass tone for distortions and other FX. There is a huge guitar sound ot his bass sound. LOL His tone is MONSTROUS! The first time I saw them, I was leaning on dUg's monitors with his cabs straight towards my face. It was awesome
Could be wrong but I think Dug runs his bass through his own custom amps that are actually guitar amps in many ways. The guitar riffs wouldn’t be the same without dug on the low end, giving Ty freedom to triad away
@@djhorizone5433 He does have a SansAmp bass unit with a lot of his sound in it. I think he distilled the essence of his complicated live setup down to that. Back in the day, I tried to memorize everything on his pedal board to figure it out back then. Didn't work. LOL
I agree the bass is mixed too low, but honestly for 1988 this sounds great. I can hear now how these guys were an influence on a slew of young rock and prog-ish rock bands that came out of the Bay Area in the early 90's. But like JP I've heard plenty from King's X, but have been waiting for that one moment when it all clicks. Still waiting...
Girl fishing rock and roll and I'm going to try to explain what I think I hear. The drums are syncopated and the vocals and guitar are playing unsyncipated rhythm. If that's a word funny

So weird … I was just listening to this song the other day for the first time in forever. LOVE this track! So glad you checked it out!

Your feline friend couldn't resist. King's X are the cat's meow!

Easily my favorite Kings X album. Not but any particular reason other than the overall vibe and flow of songs.
Pearl Jam did their Maximum Effort to get their fans into Kings X. That impressed me.
Tell cat i said ...
psss,psss,psss!
One of the best things Kings X ever did was a song called Moanjam. Great in the studio or live, but the live version wears me out.
I like the sound and the song. Can't hear the bass on my phone speakers anyways.
Dug might be using a 12 string. It sounds cool though
King's X is pretty damned amazing, but this is a mid song off a mid debut album. The next three albums are vastly superior.
lol no

Cool song but the bass is really muted.
