Ty has a nice Lennon-esque voice and can bring it emotionally when it's called for but dUg's voice is the soul of King's X IMHO. Ty and Jerry are excellent backround vocalists.
Ty is definitely nice on this song and I am one who likes that, but I agree that Doug is much more expressive emotionally in his vocals; Ty lets his guitar do that. If you have time to side track to some of Ty's solo material, such as "Johnny Guitar" on Alien Beans, or to "Water" with The Jelly Jam then it may give a better insight to the quality of his vocals.
Feels like beatlesy. I would not know this is KingsX until the mid section. I wish they heard what we heard, have the background vocals sing with the beatles, (not with KingsX) and leave it to Doug to sings on KingsX.
The chemistry is really between the tortured soul type expressing of Dug's voice and Ty's guitar leads. Ty's voice is just more of an emotional sedative, maybe as a counterbalance? I've never minded it, but your reaction makes sense. IMO Ty's best song by far is The Burning Down, from Gretchen.
I can see where you are coming from with Ty's voice. It seemed to me that he was almost doing a Lennon imitation to "fit" his voice into a mix of 3 complex vocal melodies. I know I had to actively change my tone in a 4 piece that all sang. He probably caries it over to his leads too much. Obviously, you want more from him. 😉 His solo albums have him stretching out emotionally vocally.
I don't mind a bit of Ty singing, because listening to Dug screaming at ya constantly could get exhausting! Actually it would have been nice to hear more songs with the two of them, but definitely Dug's vocals always carry more punch.
Ty has a different vibe... this was a Ty song, you either like it or not, that is cool.. Check out Ty's solo albums and the Jelly Jam stuff, remember this is older stuff man... Ty hated singing, but he has perfect pitch literally, but he does not like being the front man
You may call Dug the man and I agree he's awesome, but my favorite 3 King's X songs all feature Ty on lead vocals. Their two different voices mixed is what creates the magic in my book. Jerry is no slouch on vocals either.
Ive never seen someone try so hard to dislike a band. The disdain actually shows on your face. I do get your points but it seems like you already made up your mind.
I liked this until they decided they needed to RAWK. IMO that threw the whole thing out of kilter. I don't mind Ty's vocal, although I get how it seems a bit lifeless.

This is my favorite track on this album ... for sentimental reasons. Love the whole album !!!
This track has always reminded me of Phil Collins!!!😮....which kind of puts me off it 😊
as if. The riff under the solo alone
If you cant hear a Genesis similarty on this you should listen to "Then there was three"
@@markferrett700 I'm not hip to much genesis, and thereby grateful I can't be put off it, or by it? lol anyway King's X Goat
I love Kings X too@@00govan00

Nice change of pace. I enjoy this track at this placement on the record.
Love Ty's voice. He has solo albums that may meet your criteria, but doubt it

literally bought tix to see them.... good job.
I'm actually shocked.
Strangely I’m finding myself liking Ty’s vocals less now that I’ve seen your reactions to the songs. Go figure.
Be your own man:)
Ty has an ok voice but he's no Dug. His voice lacks passion.
