"Rocksteady's" Trilogy is what I refer to. They made 3 games, like Insomniac has so far. Origins is WB Montreal's so the parallel works better with Rocksteady/Insomniac lol

They knew they had a time limit and instead of prioritising what everyone wants in a SPIDER-MAN GAME, they instead prioritised fucking MJ missions, bicycle riding, fucking drone wasp hunting, a 20 FUCKING MINUTE tour at Harry's "we do good things because my dad makes billions off of war Inc." Funny enough, this is exactly how I felt my first playthrough on days 1 and 2. I yelled at my screen many times. That’s not the reaction you want for this game.
Fr bro, I have no problems with them telling a story with Mj, or Hailey, or whomever other than the two spidermen, but for the love of God, show it through a cutscene, don't make us play through this boring shit. If you gotta do one or two missions as one of them that's not so bad; especially if it's breif. However; these missions are too long and needless. We could've gotten more time with the symbiote, better side missions, the story could've been more refined and felt less rushed. They want us to experince a strong female character? Cool, do that in the next game with silk, or for Pete's sake, Gwen in they've got to. Nobody wants to play as a character that if removed from the story entirely, makes things better... Abby (from lou2) also falls into this category.
This is why I’m not looking forward to playing this game. I can’t believe I waited 3 years to buy a ps5 slim and bought the Spider-Man bundle. Not because I wanted to play the game, it was so I could play Helldivers 2, but because it was cheaper to buy the bundle. $399.99

In the fight against Kraven, peter says: "You destroyed my city, took the lives of so many people". But.... Kraven doesn't do anything at this level in the game, I think this is a reference to how destructive hunters are and the destructible environments.

In fact, all I wanted from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was a feature to switch between a regular suit and a symbiote suit with one button, but unfortunately this did not happen.
The dialogue in this cut footage kinda proves that because Peter says to Harry, I think this suit isn't what we think, so at a point he notices his attitude changing, but we never got that until the suit was already off of him, so I think he was supposed to have it on longer than a few days
Ppl like caboose calling the whole of Spider-Man 2 a masterpiece is why we will forever having MJ missions (which is essentially Last Of Us 2 wannabe gameplay), the venom boss fight could’ve been better than it was and the leaks showed it with positive signs with destructive environments rather than fighting in essentially a combat arena, the random crimes were better in sp1 and miles morales game, most side missions were underwhelming and ofc there’s already a clip of Bryan Intahar admitting the final act of the game didn’t hit the quality bar they wanted to reach. Ppl need to give constructive criticism especially when it comes from their previous games that did things right and other ps2, xbox360/ps3 days. Ult. Spm, spm2 ps2 and web of shadows have game mechanics that were really fun and easily possible to be implemented into spm2 let alone spm3 ps6.
As someone who loves Spider-Man 2 but will point out the game's flaws, I'll say tat if people think this game is a perfect masterpiece, then that's their own opinion and they're entitled to it.

I don’t know if environmental destruction is needed for Spider-Man except maybe a few bosses like Sandman, Spider-Slayers or Hydro-Man. But, most certainly for more powerful comic book characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Hulk, etc
Even the gameplay is lacking. While they took 2 steps foward, they took another 2 steps back. They add Web Wings and Slingshot, But remove need for stealth and faling quick time events. This is just one example
Mostly because people said they hated the quick time events and didn’t like the way the stealth was executed. Forced stealth was executed very rarely in the first game and those missions were, if I can recall, insanely easy.

Also, the only thing that was fun about the stealth gameplay with the gadgets was having the trip mine and them getting stuck to the ground, which, in my eyes, was barely anything, using any other gadget that wasn’t just simply webbing would get you caught by other AIs. If you want to play a game for good stealth and fun stealth mechanics, play the Arkham series, Spider-man was never a stealth character. Also, I see you had no defence for the fact you brought up quick time events…is that perhaps because you were pulling random stuff out of your brain and thought it would look cool if you found some type of solid gameplay criticism when the gameplay is actually fun and solid in the game and you could be criticising things that needed work like the story?
I"ve heard that miles was supposed to have the symbiote at some point in the game but they cut that. Just like how they cut venomized sandman & the other symbiotes riot, toxin, etc. For them to cut venom missions to make way for MJ missions gotta be the stupidest decision I've seen a company do. Look, I love Marvel's Spider Man 2. I agree it's fantastic game. But man those cut content would have made the gameplay experience much better. If only Sony hadn't pressured them. It should have been delayed to early or mid 2024. But still, once again a great game, still a fan of it.
You know what your one hundred percent right I wanted the chase through the streets and have him chase you, especially attacking through walls or venom doing it I wish we got that, but hopefully in the venom game!. Nah the boss fight with Venom we got is epic but we definitely could have gotten the fight in the road. Story is great, I agree. I agree only the third act was rushed. After Kraven dies, I wouldn't say downhill but what they were going for in the third act after Kraven dies is good but could have been longer

The game deserves credit where credit is due. And even though Insomniac didn’t do the story justice for a lasting memory, the work they do for the updates and listening to their fans is commendable. They care but Sony is a biotch for rushing what was going to be an inevitable masterpiece.

I don’t know if the game would have this stuff even if it was delayed. Sometimes during the prototyping stage stuff looks really cool but for one reason or another it doesn’t work in the final product. In Arkham Origins the Nightmare Batman skin broke the game so the devs removed it and that is just a skin. There could have been a lot of reasons why stuff this complicated didn’t work. I do agree it does seem rushed though. Stuff like New Game Plus should have been there on release and the Peter black suit arc felt too short.
Peter black suit arc is handled well. It being short makes sense given that Peter has a limit of keeping the suit since Harry needs it more. The longer he keeps it then he would be weakened and die. You saw Harry in a cane and you can tell without the symbiote, Harry grows weak.
I cant believe we didn't get any venom chase scene where we just run away from him at maximum speed but its still not enough coz he is fast as hell..I guess its too much to ask for , so much effort already went into those Brooklyn Visions Academy missions.. Gotta have those right..

Some games over the years get a complete overhaul replacing or adding content into game, Marvel Spider Man had 35 story missions, Marvel Spider Man 2 has 31 Story missions, in my opinion I think story missions should have been double, to 43 or 50 Story mission it would give more time with the symbiote suit and the symbiote New York invasion
When it comes to the story it makes sense why the final battle took place in the high school and in the lab, though my problem was ..why venom was just a one encounter? Why not having to fight him twice in the story, the first time in the streets , then in the final boss arena. The same problem i had with the way how kraven stabbed peter with the knife, why didnt they put that as a boss fight and to lose to him perspously , like in the other games like in sekiro or ghost of tsushima, then peter being defeated would be actually something more impactful than a random stab in the gut.
I don’t know if your into politics, but this is the effects of DEI to a T. People like Kevin Feige and Brian Intihars hands are effectively tied in implementing woke messages and themes. Like we don't ask for a Miles side mission in which two people are proposing and you just have to listen to it. It's a Spider-Man game, bring some action. Imagine instead of that, they added Molten Man as enemy and you can do that mission as both Peter as well as Miles. Moreover we should have only one MJ mission where you have to hide from Symbiote controlled Peter. There was no need to change mechanics from first game, just give us one mission and spend your rest budget on improving the story and side content. I hope in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, they add B or C tier villains in side missions as boss fight and include A tier villains in main story as they always do. Please Insomniac take your time and in 3rd game, I just want one on one Peter vs Goblin fight, and no Miles no Cindy and no MJ in last mission. I like Peter and MJ chemistry but not her gameplay.

I really want this game to get a Ghost of tsushima director's cut type game. With the complete package and all the stuff we didn't get in the actual game itself. I reckon that could fix a lot a issues players are having with the game. But I know for a fact Sony Definitely don't want that, be it to much money or time.
We'll see if they are able to have the time they need on Spider-Man 3 I don't think Sony would be that stupid to rush the third game knowing that it's got to tie everything up pretty much and potentially lead to other spin-offs

Insomniac Games should take a page out of Sonic Frontiers The Final Horizon by giving us an alternate 3rd act where instead of Mary Jane one shooting symbiote goons she would escort her co workers out of Daily Bugle and after everyone Venom and the symbiotes begins to chase Mary Jane out of the building. MJ uses this opportunity to have them follow her away from the civilians. Miles or Peter swings by and save Mary Jane and take her to safety. This is when the first Venom boss fight would take place and you get to choose so fights Venom and who gets tho fight the symbiotes. More Spider-Man action with both Peter and Miles. More team up missions with Harry and Yuri. More on screen deaths of the Sinister 6. Black Cat stealth missions. Harry's growing jealously over Miles throughout the game. A flashback scene on how this world's version of Peter Parker and Harry Osborn meeting Mary Jane Watson. A scene of Harry and Norman's emotional reaction to Emily's dealth and how it affected them. More scenes with Symbiote Peter. A scene of Peter creating the Iron Spider Arms
To be honest seeing theses leaks makes me angry how sony has no reason to rushed on insomniac studio instead of giving them time to finish this game it reminds me of how cd project rush themselves to publish cyberpunk 2077 without giving them time to finished it.

I think the biggest problem I did have with the game was the last fight with venom I thought it would have been way cooler if Peter used the anti venom to get at big as venom and have a huge boss fight causing a lot of damage and distraction.. I guess I just wanted a big monster fight at the end
I don’t think the game is bad but I wish there was more, if that makes sense. I wish it stayed in the oven a little longer but to really flush out the game and have a more satisfying ending/boss fight
I actually think Insomniac should've saved the Anti-Venom suit for the Carnage DLC instead. For the main story, like after taking off the black suit. It should've been Peter proving that he can save NY & the world & he doesn't need the black suit to do it.

Spider-Man 2 was my favorite take on the Black Suit story for sure! Would it have been better if there was more time with Harry with the symbiote, adding on like 4 hours to the game. Maybe another hour of story with him as Agent Venom in Act 1, then like 3 more hours or like a whole other act. The designs for the life foundation look great, and I would have liked to see him in the game. I would have liked more face to face battling between Peter and Venom, or Peter and Miles vs Venom. The TV Spot and the concept art of Peter and Miles fighting Venom at night is not something that happened. There is a lot more they COULD have done to make Harry/Venom a GOATED villain. I loved it. I thought it was great! But it could have been legendary, like their take on Doc Ock.

He said to back up her capabilities. To back up her capabilities? What the hell do you even mean? You do realize characters can be capable without being all about that action, right? You know working in the background can be just as heroic, right? Y'think they ever try to take "The guy in the chair" out of the chair because they don't think he's being seen and represented as "capable enough"? No! If they wanna make him more capable, they give him more to do IN THE CHAIR because THAT'S HIS THING. With MJ it's investigatory background stuff. She, like any other character that isn't the Spider-Men or villains, shouldn't be prioritized over them. Not over Pete, not ovsr Miles, not over Kraven and with how much colossal legwork and hype the trailers and promo did for him, ESPECIALLY not for Venom. For as much as I loathe the MJ missions in the 1st, at least I understood why they were placed when they were. Hated them, but the times they were placed in the story were consistent and didn't take away from a cool moment or potential moment. It never felt like it was in place of a big badass moment with Peter. Can you imagine how horrible it'd have been if the entire setpiece with Pete with the wrecking ball copter and skyscraper was thrown to the side for a fucking *MJ* mission? Yeah. Insomniac knew too. That's why that kinda thing never happened in the 1st. They existed on their own in a vacuum. The MJ gameplay is undoubtedly better in 2, but that doesn't make it any more necessary or valid. The only time I found it interesting was that one section with Symbiote Peter. Even when she was running away and Pete wasn't able to catch her for whatever reason, it was still cool to me. But y'know what one of the most disappointing things was? Lemme set the stage: Pete, Miles, and MJ just began to place their plan into action. Pete has Venom distracted, Miles is boxing symbiotes, and MJ bypasses to sneak to get the meteorite. Now imagine my immense hype when I saw Pete swing away as Venom started to leap after him. You know what my first and only thought was. Hell, it might've even been yours too. "Ho-ly shit. I'm about to get chased by Venom. Oh fugk, oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck, that's awesome." Then guess what I get greeted with after that? Mary Jane fucking Watson. But it's okay! Although my first and instantaneous reaction was disappointment, I still held out on hope that this was teasing us. That MJ was the opening act. That she was the precursor to a Venom chase. So, I go all about like normal and stuff, yadda yadda, no one cares. And then...MJ gets out, gets on and rides her bike as Miles swings alongside her. Cool! Nice! Grea-now where's me getting chased by Venom? ...I wait and wait...the seconds feel like hours...and then! When we cut to Peter he's already at Midtown High and he's done swinging. Are. You. Fucking. Serious? There's no way in the seven gates of Hell that you just did this. That you just *robbed* us of a VENOM CHASE. A VE-NOM CHASE. Do you understand? Are you reading my lips? A CHASE with VENOM. It's the coolest idea in the world. The lizard chase was an amazing setpiece and I was all like: "Oh wow, that's cool, you're reversing it and stuff so now we're the one getting chased!" No. Nope. No actually. Even now just thinking and typing about it is getting me so deflated all over again. It's just-there's no reason whatsoever NOT to go for that. But apparently MJ was more necessary, right? More than the literal main hero and villain of your game. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. If this was for time constraints, fuck you Sony. Isn't the first time I've said that, won't be the last. BUT if that, for god knows what kind of downright diabolical reason, was real and then CUT in service of MJ? That is evil. That is an evil decision. Horrid. Either way, sucks it wasn't there. I'm not assuming who, but I know someone is to blame here.

If you can't already tell, I love *love* *LOVE* *LOOOOVE* *LOOOOOOOVE* the Symbiote arc. The idea of it is just phenomenal. It's one of those stories that, when done great, is some of the best Spider-Man media ever. It's so depressing this is the arc that's the possible catalyst for them doing better with 3. It could've been so much more, but it's been reduced to a stepping stone for the future that should've been of a major step up *to* the future. An arc as glorious and rich as this doesn't deserve that.
I’m a tough lover of this games. Some stuff It does really well. Some stuff pisses me off and I’m tired of people calling me ungrateful for not feeling satisfied has made me more sour cause people are so quick to shut down my criticism. Like Peter historically taking a break has caused something bad to happen miles or not that should still apply.
Those Miles missions also threw me off sometimes, I'm really high school drama, homecoming dance. There were more important shit happening around Miles especially when it came to Martin Li escaping/kidnapped from the Raft. Don't even get me started with those EMF mission 😑😒😑😵
I actually like the MJ missions, but yeah I think they should've had us just play as her two time in Good men & Wake up only & kept her as Scream till both Peter & Miles defeat Venom & saved NY.

Even In the trailers you were fighting venom in the streets and then I get hit with a lacklustre end game boss, honestly if they swapped and had miles first and then Peter it would have been slightly better, miles really didn’t have much to do with the dynamic of Peter and Harry’s venom, going to Peter to miles kinda killed it to me it was a spectacle fighting venom at the school, second time at EMF felt like a lazy way to make sure to get miles in the final boss
💯💯I love marvel spider man 2 but this game definitely needed a few more months to a year to finish cooking to me it felt like a step back from MM and marvel spider man I didn't mind the MJ stealth missions because she actually speed run but clear lack of venom being a threat and not pushing Peter and Miles hard enough is problem we where solid on venom and insomniac said sm2 was going to be dark and have horror elements leak gameplay was giving what we should've had in the final game
I understand where you're coming from and I agree 100% but i disagree on the insomniac doesnt listen to fans part and the mj missons now let me explain first off we cant just act like the mj mission was bad sure they was slow pace but improved on why arent we talking about the hailey missions now there was no need for those missions but every other mission was fire and about the whole thing were insomniac could've added in that one venom boss fight well they didnt have enough time it isnt insomniacs fault AT ALL the blame is fully sony and bc of a time crunch they ran out of time on the boss fight and about the destruction assets and explosions we had that element in the venom gameplay and not to mention some of it is in the free roam gameplay not alot but some elements insomniac knew what we wanted they just didnt have the time to make it happen

It’s so disappointing! I love the game but the potential it HAD! I hope they release a director’s cut with all the cut content in the future! It would’ve been cool if you were fighting venom as peter but peter gets too hurt and tries runaway. Maybe peter gets thrown into a sewer (with the destructible environment) and its all dark. So it becomes a horror game trying to hide from venom (kinda like the last bane fight in Arkham origins)
So that one trailer and preview screenshot (fighting Venom in the streets in your regular outfits) WEREN'T bogus after all and were going to be a thing. The more and more stuff that comes out, the more and more it seems clear that this game REALLY needed more time in the oven. At least New Game Plus let's us ditch the Adidas sponsorship and Spectacular Sperm-Man outfits.
At the end of the day spiderman 2 is still a good game definitely the best spiderman game to date but of course it could've had more but ultimately spiderman 3 will hopefully be even better or maybe even the Venom game might be we'll see
It is a good game, but it couldve been great. After playing it the first time, the story just felt too short and rushed esp the Venom part. It just feels unsatisfying and disappointing at times esp how knowing the potential it couldve had. It couldve been better than Arkham City

Absolutely. I’m a Spider-Man fanatic and couldn’t wait for this game. This game, though I enjoyed my time with it, was a disappointment. You’re not a bad fan for admitting the game was incomplete and was a let down in multiple areas. Spider-Man 2018 was amazing and this one took a step backwards imo. This cut content would have added a lot to the experience
On the one hand I understand you, on the other I will put myself in Insomniac's defense as an Artist with knowledge of gamedev. MJ in my opinion was also important to the story, missions with her were needed to tighten the plot I understand the approach of Director in spider man 2018 people whined that it was too weak and too boring so they tried to improve it in some way. He looks at the story side more than the gameplay side, he cares about richer story and character development instead of just screen effects. Toxic fans also contributed to the approach he has, toxic fans didn't give a shit about him so he doesn't give a shit about them either simple? simple. I'm of those who look more at the story than gameplay bullshit, I don't need alternative costumes once in older games there were none and you could play? you could play, now everyone is spoiled brats and have too much up their asses. I also laugh at people seeing cut content and immediately saying that the game would be better. Well no it doesn't work like that, you would have to put yourself in the shoes of the developers, game development is not easy and the basic features are hard to implement, try programming a simple tic tac toe in the simplest Godot engine and you will see how shitty it is explaining to the computer who wins when. As for the "destructible enviroment" I'm betting that at some point it might have been too taxing on the console and they just gave up on the idea. Imagine how much the console would have to process if every building had an interior.... not even Rockstar in gta dared to do something like that. As for the missions with MJ yet there probably wasn't a lot of money poured into them, I'd say they were even a sort of plan B in case they didn't manage to work out some features. Don't be fooled by youtube videos, gamedev is not simple, it's more complex than you think. When you dig deeper you will start to appreciate what you got on a platter especially when they were rushed by Sony. Do you think they didn't want to do much better this game? Contracts, agreements are unforgiving and since they are dependent on Sony they have no say. Especially since there are probably things they can't publicize because it would break the contract and they would have to pay a penalty. Remember game development is a job like any other, and a man is a man and if he has a deadline and a signed contract for a fixed period of time then he has to meet it whether he likes it or not and it is not entirely up to him whether the game comes out undercooked or not.
To me this game is a bit unfinished but I still love this game and how fun it is Marvel's Spider-Man might have a better story but Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is better in every category besides story it was an 8 before the update but now it's an 8.5 but I believe We should critique Insomniac for this and how the game would of been a 9 out of 10 if it wasn't for this🙏🏿🙏🏿😭😭🤦♂️
I really don't trust Insomniac with Wolverine. I think it'll be the same pros and cons as with Spider-Man games. Good gameplay systems but lots of bullshit in the way (walky talky sections, shitty puzzles, boring side content etc.)

Fr bro, I have no problems with them telling a story with Mj, or Hailey, or whomever other than the two spidermen, but for the love of God, show it through a cutscene, don't make us play through this boring shit. If you gotta do one or two missions as one of them that's not so bad; especially if it's breif. However; these missions are too long and needless. We could've gotten more time with the symbiote, better side missions, the story could've been more refined and felt less rushed. They want us to experince a strong female character? Cool, do that in the next game with silk, or for Pete's sake, Gwen in they've got to. Nobody wants to play as a character that if removed from the story entirely, makes things better... Abby (from lou2) also falls into this category.

But.... Kraven doesn't do anything at this level in the game, I think this is a reference to how destructive hunters are and the destructible environments.

In fact, all I wanted from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was a feature to switch between a regular suit and a symbiote suit with one button, but unfortunately this did not happen.
They've cut alot. Replaying the story, they must've cut some black suit story and Harry story too. Maybe a chapter or 2 is cut.
The dialogue in this cut footage kinda proves that because Peter says to Harry, I think this suit isn't what we think, so at a point he notices his attitude changing, but we never got that until the suit was already off of him, so I think he was supposed to have it on longer than a few days

Ppl like caboose calling the whole of Spider-Man 2 a masterpiece is why we will forever having MJ missions (which is essentially Last Of Us 2 wannabe gameplay), the venom boss fight could’ve been better than it was and the leaks showed it with positive signs with destructive environments rather than fighting in essentially a combat arena, the random crimes were better in sp1 and miles morales game, most side missions were underwhelming and ofc there’s already a clip of Bryan Intahar admitting the final act of the game didn’t hit the quality bar they wanted to reach. Ppl need to give constructive criticism especially when it comes from their previous games that did things right and other ps2, xbox360/ps3 days. Ult. Spm, spm2 ps2 and web of shadows have game mechanics that were really fun and easily possible to be implemented into spm2 let alone spm3 ps6.

Mostly because people said they hated the quick time events and didn’t like the way the stealth was executed. Forced stealth was executed very rarely in the first game and those missions were, if I can recall, insanely easy.

Also, the only thing that was fun about the stealth gameplay with the gadgets was having the trip mine and them getting stuck to the ground, which, in my eyes, was barely anything, using any other gadget that wasn’t just simply webbing would get you caught by other AIs. If you want to play a game for good stealth and fun stealth mechanics, play the Arkham series, Spider-man was never a stealth character. Also, I see you had no defence for the fact you brought up quick time events…is that perhaps because you were pulling random stuff out of your brain and thought it would look cool if you found some type of solid gameplay criticism when the gameplay is actually fun and solid in the game and you could be criticising things that needed work like the story?

I don’t know if the game would have this stuff even if it was delayed. Sometimes during the prototyping stage stuff looks really cool but for one reason or another it doesn’t work in the final product.
In Arkham Origins the Nightmare Batman skin broke the game so the devs removed it and that is just a skin. There could have been a lot of reasons why stuff this complicated didn’t work.
I do agree it does seem rushed though. Stuff like New Game Plus should have been there on release and the Peter black suit arc felt too short.
Peter black suit arc is handled well. It being short makes sense given that Peter has a limit of keeping the suit since Harry needs it more. The longer he keeps it then he would be weakened and die. You saw Harry in a cane and you can tell without the symbiote, Harry grows weak.
I cant believe we didn't get any venom chase scene where we just run away from him at maximum speed but its still not enough coz he is fast as hell..I guess its too much to ask for , so much effort already went into those Brooklyn Visions Academy missions.. Gotta have those right..

Some games over the years get a complete overhaul replacing or adding content into game, Marvel Spider Man had 35 story missions, Marvel Spider Man 2 has 31 Story missions, in my opinion I think story missions should have been double, to 43 or 50 Story mission it would give more time with the symbiote suit and the symbiote New York invasion

When it comes to the story it makes sense why the final battle took place in the high school and in the lab, though my problem was ..why venom was just a one encounter?
Why not having to fight him twice in the story, the first time in the streets , then in the final boss arena.
The same problem i had with the way how kraven stabbed peter with the knife, why didnt they put that as a boss fight and to lose to him perspously , like in the other games like in sekiro or ghost of tsushima, then peter being defeated would be actually something more impactful than a random stab in the gut.
I don’t know if your into politics, but this is the effects of DEI to a T. People like Kevin Feige and Brian Intihars hands are effectively tied in implementing woke messages and themes. That’s why we get woke garbage like she hulk and Mj and deaf girl missions, They have to implement things like this if they want to have a high social credit scores and receive funding.

Moreover we should have only one MJ mission where you have to hide from Symbiote controlled Peter. There was no need to change mechanics from first game, just give us one mission and spend your rest budget on improving the story and side content.
I hope in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, they add B or C tier villains in side missions as boss fight and include A tier villains in main story as they always do.

The problems emerge is when they concentrate on modern left orthodoxy(wokeness) ei white people are bad, Guns are bad, everything has to be gay and trans, everything is racist so we have to elevate our minority characters even if it’s detrimental to the story, everything has to be tied to some perceived social injustice.

I really want this game to get a Ghost of tsushima director's cut type game. With the complete package and all the stuff we didn't get in the actual game itself. I reckon that could fix a lot a issues players are having with the game. But I know for a fact Sony Definitely don't want that, be it to much money or time.
We'll see if they are able to have the time they need on Spider-Man 3 I don't think Sony would be that stupid to rush the third game knowing that it's got to tie everything up pretty much and potentially lead to other spin-offs

Insomniac Games should take a page out of Sonic Frontiers The Final Horizon by giving us an alternate 3rd act where instead of Mary Jane one shooting symbiote goons she would escort her co workers out of Daily Bugle and after everyone Venom and the symbiotes begins to chase Mary Jane out of the building. MJ uses this opportunity to have them follow her away from the civilians. Miles or Peter swings by and save Mary Jane and take her to safety. This is when the first Venom boss fight would take place and you get to choose so fights Venom and who gets tho fight the symbiotes. More Spider-Man action with both Peter and Miles. More team up missions with Harry and Yuri. More on screen deaths of the Sinister 6. Black Cat stealth missions. Harry's growing jealously over Miles throughout the game. A flashback scene on how this world's version of Peter Parker and Harry Osborn meeting Mary Jane Watson. A scene of Harry and Norman's emotional reaction to Emily's dealth and how it affected them. More scenes with Symbiote Peter. A scene of Peter creating the Iron Spider Arms
To be honest seeing theses leaks makes me angry how sony has no reason to rushed on insomniac studio instead of giving them time to finish this game it reminds me of how cd project rush themselves to publish cyberpunk 2077 without giving them time to finished it.

I think the story for sm2 is still really good but this stuff could’ve made it even better.
I think the biggest problem I did have with the game was the last fight with venom I thought it would have been way cooler if Peter used the anti venom to get at big as venom and have a huge boss fight causing a lot of damage and distraction.. I guess I just wanted a big monster fight at the end

I actually think Insomniac should've saved the Anti-Venom suit for the Carnage DLC instead. For the main story, like after taking off the black suit. It should've been Peter proving that he can save NY & the world & he doesn't need the black suit to do it.

Spider-Man 2 was my favorite take on the Black Suit story for sure! Would it have been better if there was more time with Harry with the symbiote, adding on like 4 hours to the game. Maybe another hour of story with him as Agent Venom in Act 1, then like 3 more hours or like a whole other act. The designs for the life foundation look great, and I would have liked to see him in the game. I would have liked more face to face battling between Peter and Venom, or Peter and Miles vs Venom. The TV Spot and the concept art of Peter and Miles fighting Venom at night is not something that happened. There is a lot more they COULD have done to make Harry/Venom a GOATED villain. I loved it. I thought it was great! But it could have been legendary, like their take on Doc Ock.

You know working in the background can be just as heroic, right? If they wanna make him more capable, they give him more to do IN THE CHAIR because THAT'S HIS THING. With MJ it's investigatory background stuff. She, like any other character that isn't the Spider-Men or villains, shouldn't be prioritized over them. Not over Pete, not ovsr Miles, not over Kraven and with how much colossal legwork and hype the trailers and promo did for him, ESPECIALLY not for Venom. For as much as I loathe the MJ missions in the 1st, at least I understood why they were placed when they were. Hated them, but the times they were placed in the story were consistent and didn't take away from a cool moment or potential moment. It never felt like it was in place of a big badass moment with Peter. Can you imagine how horrible it'd have been if the entire setpiece with Pete with the wrecking ball copter and skyscraper was thrown to the side for a fucking *MJ* mission? Yeah. Insomniac knew too. That's why that kinda thing never happened in the 1st. They existed on their own in a vacuum.
The MJ gameplay is undoubtedly better in 2, but that doesn't make it any more necessary or valid. The only time I found it interesting was that one section with Symbiote Peter. Even when she was running away and Pete wasn't able to catch her for whatever reason, it was still cool to me. But y'know what one of the most disappointing things was?
Lemme set the stage: Pete, Miles, and MJ just began to place their plan into action. Pete has Venom distracted, Miles is boxing symbiotes, and MJ bypasses to sneak to get the meteorite. Now imagine my immense hype when I saw Pete swing away as Venom started to leap after him. You know what my first and only thought was. Hell, it might've even been yours too. "Ho-ly shit. I'm about to get chased by Venom. Oh fugk, oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck, that's awesome."
Then guess what I get greeted with after that?
Mary Jane fucking Watson. But it's okay! Although my first and instantaneous reaction was disappointment, I still held out on hope that this was teasing us. That MJ was the opening act. That she was the precursor to a Venom chase. So, I go all about like normal and stuff, yadda yadda, no one cares. And then...MJ gets out, gets on and rides her bike as Miles swings alongside her. Cool! Nice! Grea-now where's me getting chased by Venom?
...I wait and wait...the seconds feel like hours...and then!
When we cut to Peter he's already at Midtown High and he's done swinging. Are. You. Fucking. Serious? There's no way in the seven gates of Hell that you just did this. That you just *robbed* us of a VENOM CHASE. A VE-NOM CHASE. Do you understand? Are you reading my lips? A CHASE with VENOM.
It's the coolest idea in the world. The lizard chase was an amazing setpiece and I was all like: "Oh wow, that's cool, you're reversing it and stuff so now we're the one getting chased!"
No. Nope. No actually. Even now just thinking and typing about it is getting me so deflated all over again. It's just-there's no reason whatsoever NOT to go for that. But apparently MJ was more necessary, right? More than the literal main hero and villain of your game. Incredible. Absolutely incredible.
If this was for time constraints, fuck you Sony. Isn't the first time I've said that, won't be the last. BUT if that, for god knows what kind of downright diabolical reason, was real and then CUT in service of MJ? That is evil. That is an evil decision. Horrid.

While I desperately hope the same thing, it sucks that what's (in my opinion) one of, if not *the* most captivating, untapped potential, conceptually interesting and engaging Spider-Man story arcs had to be sacrificed for this lesson. If you can't already tell, I love *love* *LOVE* *LOOOOVE* *LOOOOOOOVE* the Symbiote arc. The idea of it is just phenomenal. It's one of those stories that, when done great, is some of the best Spider-Man media ever. It's so depressing this is the arc that's the possible catalyst for them doing better with 3. It could've been so much more, but it's been reduced to a stepping stone for the future that should've been of a major step up *to* the future. An arc as glorious and rich as this doesn't deserve that.
I’m a tough lover of this games. Some stuff It does really well. Some stuff pisses me off and I’m tired of people calling me ungrateful for not feeling satisfied has made me more sour cause people are so quick to shut down my criticism. Like Peter historically taking a break has caused something bad to happen miles or not that should still apply.

Even In the trailers you were fighting venom in the streets and then I get hit with a lacklustre end game boss, honestly if they swapped and had miles first and then Peter it would have been slightly better, miles really didn’t have much to do with the dynamic of Peter and Harry’s venom, going to Peter to miles kinda killed it to me it was a spectacle fighting venom at the school, second time at EMF felt like a lazy way to make sure to get miles in the final boss

It’s so disappointing! I love the game but the potential it HAD! I hope they release a director’s cut with all the cut content in the future! It would’ve been cool if you were fighting venom as peter but peter gets too hurt and tries runaway. Maybe peter gets thrown into a sewer (with the destructible environment) and its all dark. So it becomes a horror game trying to hide from venom (kinda like the last bane fight in Arkham origins)

So that one trailer and preview screenshot (fighting Venom in the streets in your regular outfits) WEREN'T bogus after all and were going to be a thing. The more and more stuff that comes out, the more and more it seems clear that this game REALLY needed more time in the oven.

At the end of the day spiderman 2 is still a good game definitely the best spiderman game to date but of course it could've had more but ultimately spiderman 3 will hopefully be even better or maybe even the Venom game might be we'll see
It is a good game, but it couldve been great. After playing it the first time, the story just felt too short and rushed esp the Venom part. It just feels unsatisfying and disappointing at times esp how knowing the potential it couldve had. It couldve been better than Arkham City

You’re not a bad fan for admitting the game was incomplete and was a let down in multiple areas. Spider-Man 2018 was amazing and this one took a step backwards imo. On the one hand I understand you, on the other I will put myself in Insomniac's defense as an Artist with knowledge of gamedev.
MJ in my opinion was also important to the story, missions with her were needed to tighten the plot I understand the approach of Director in spider man 2018 people whined that it was too weak and too boring so they tried to improve it in some way. He looks at the story side more than the gameplay side, he cares about richer story and character development instead of just screen effects.
Toxic fans also contributed to the approach he has, toxic fans didn't give a shit about him so he doesn't give a shit about them either simple? simple.
I'm of those who look more at the story than gameplay bullshit, I don't need alternative costumes once in older games there were none and you could play? you could play, now everyone is spoiled brats and have too much up their asses.
I also laugh at people seeing cut content and immediately saying that the game would be better. Well no it doesn't work like that, you would have to put yourself in the shoes of the developers, game development is not easy and the basic features are hard to implement, try programming a simple tic tac toe in the simplest Godot engine and you will see how shitty it is explaining to the computer who wins when.
As for the "destructible enviroment" I'm betting that at some point it might have been too taxing on the console and they just gave up on the idea. Imagine how much the console would have to process if every building had an interior.... not even Rockstar in gta dared to do something like that.
As for the missions with MJ yet there probably wasn't a lot of money poured into them, I'd say they were even a sort of plan B in case they didn't manage to work out some features.
Don't be fooled by youtube videos, gamedev is not simple, it's more complex than you think. When you dig deeper you will start to appreciate what you got on a platter especially when they were rushed by Sony. Do you think they didn't want to do much better this game? Contracts, agreements are unforgiving and since they are dependent on Sony they have no say. Especially since there are probably things they can't publicize because it would break the contract and they would have to pay a penalty.
Remember game development is a job like any other, and a man is a man and if he has a deadline and a signed contract for a fixed period of time then he has to meet it whether he likes it or not and it is not entirely up to him whether the game comes out undercooked or not.
To me this game is a bit unfinished but I still love this game and how fun it is Marvel's Spider-Man might have a better story but Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is better in every category besides story it was an 8 before the update but now it's an 8.5 but I believe We should critique Insomniac for this and how the game would of been a 9 out of 10 if it wasn't for this🙏🏿🙏🏿😭😭🤦♂️
